Cette semaine, on se jette avec enthousiasme dans la dix-neuvième saison de Silence on joue et comme à chaque début de saison, nous devons jongler entre les jeux sortis pendant l'été et ceux qui font déjà l'actualité. On commence donc avec Mafia : The Old Country, quatrième épisode de la série qui explore l'univers du crime organisé. On revient ici aux origines, dans une Sicile magnifiquement modélisée (mais vide) au début du vingtième siècle. Ca parait ambitieux. Ca ne l'est pas. On continue avec le retour attendu de la Bloober Team après le très bon remake de Silent Hill 2. Avec Cronos, le studio continue à respecter à la lettre le cahier des charges du survival horror, mais avec cette fois un univers original convaincant. On part ensuite à la montagne avec Herdling et sa harde de «calicornes». Sur les pas de Journey, ce voyage initiatique avec plein de bestioles choupis est une réussite. It has been a whirlwind of a week for the games industry. Massive studio closures continue at a rapid pace and now we have Fable delay for the cherry on top! Where to begin? Well, for the Xbox faithful, let's sink into Fable first. It was given a 2025 release window at Xbox's 2024 Summer Showcase, but Playground Games has pulled the plug early on that happening. Announced by new head of Xbox Game Studios Craig Duncan, we also got a glimpse at some pre-alpha gameplay for Fable. The game looks great, at least visually, but has left many wondering what's taking so long? Rumors of this game started kicking around in 2018 only for the game to be fully announced in 2020. By summer 2026, we're looking at six full years of building this game up. So, what gives? Is it a PS5 port, the looming release of GTA VI, or something much deeper? The Dukes discuss in Cog's return! Free-to-play Monster Hunter-like Dauntless is shutting down on May 29 following mass studio layoffs When Bungie recently had to defend itself in court in a copyright case regarding the Red Legion faction in Destiny 2's campaign, it had to submit two fan-made YouTube lore videos as evidence because Bungie had vaulted/deleted the game's campaign Warner Bros. Games is making big cuts, closing three studios — Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB Games San Diego — and cancelling its long-in-development Wonder Woman game, the publisher told employees on Tuesday. All projects from those studios have been canceled. NetEase began its cuts late last year, with layoffs and studio closures at Mass Effect veteran Mac Walters' new studio Worlds Untold, Halo Infinite design boss Jerry Hook's team at Jar of Sparks, and more recently at Liquid Sword, the company founded by the creator of Just Cause. Quantic Dream, the NetEase-owned developer behind Heavy Rain, Detroit and the upcoming Star Wars Eclipse has broken its silence following the layoffs and shutdowns seen across numerous other NetEase-supported studios. In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Quantic Dream CEO Guillaume de Fondaumière said the studio's teams had not been impacted by NetEase's dramatic cuts, and were "continuing to develop our projects at full pace".
