This week in the news: Silent Hill f is back on the radar. Still no release date but definitely something worth talking about! Bloober Team's upcoming Cronos: The New Dawn seems to channel some of the horror tricks and tips they picked up from working on Silent Hill 2. And the US and Canada have going forces for a video game workers union! Long overdue. What did everyone play lately? Who got fired in Fast Food Sim? Will the group finish Back4Blood? Who's enjoying a co-op game with their kiddo? And can Baka actually make friends in a game? All this and much more on this week's Infinite Respawn Podcast! It has been a whirlwind of a week for the games industry. Massive studio closures continue at a rapid pace and now we have Fable delay for the cherry on top! Where to begin? Well, for the Xbox faithful, let's sink into Fable first. It was given a 2025 release window at Xbox's 2024 Summer Showcase, but Playground Games has pulled the plug early on that happening. Announced by new head of Xbox Game Studios Craig Duncan, we also got a glimpse at some pre-alpha gameplay for Fable. The game looks great, at least visually, but has left many wondering what's taking so long? Rumors of this game started kicking around in 2018 only for the game to be fully announced in 2020. By summer 2026, we're looking at six full years of building this game up. So, what gives? Is it a PS5 port, the looming release of GTA VI, or something much deeper? The Dukes discuss in Cog's return! Naturally, we dive deep into the mismanagement of WB Games as we have for weeks. To put an exclamation point on things, they have shut down Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB San Diego. As their game's division continues its tailspin, the Dukes sift through the wreckage to see if there's any hope in saving what remains of WB Games. We also tackle the conversation around MUSE once more following new comments by Satya Nadella, how NetEase is hitting a speed bump despite the rocketing success of Marvel Rivals, and much more! Do we all really want George's Vision? Or are we just saying that because its cool now? Is an Elden Ring movie coming? Will Fable release in 2026? I'm not really sure, but we do know the Wonder Woman game is no longer happening. With 007's future now in flux, Harry Potter's is more certain. The MCU changes some dates, and the DCU wipes one of the slate.

Games is making big cuts, closing three studios — Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB Games San Diego — and cancelling its long-in-development Wonder Woman game, the publisher told employees on Tuesday. All projects from those studios have been canceled. NetEase began its cuts late last year, with layoffs and studio closures at Mass Effect veteran Mac Walters' new studio Worlds Untold, Halo Infinite design boss Jerry Hook's team at Jar of Sparks, and more recently at Liquid Sword, the company founded by the creator of Just Cause. Quantic Dream, the NetEase-owned developer behind Heavy Rain, Detroit and the upcoming Star Wars Eclipse has broken its silence following the layoffs and shutdowns seen across numerous other NetEase-supported studios. In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Quantic Dream CEO Guillaume de Fondaumière said the studio's teams had not been impacted by NetEase's dramatic cuts, and were "continuing to develop our projects at full pace". In today's Daily Fix: Warner Bros. Discovery made the painful announcement that they were canceling work on the long-in-development Wonder Woman game, and closing three studios. The Wonder Woman game was first announced in 2021, but was stuck in development hell for years. WB reported spent around $100 million on its development. The three studios being closed or Monolith (who also developed the Shadow of Mordor games), Player First Games, and WB San Diego. In other news, Microsoft dropped a new teaser for the next Fable game, and the unfortunate news that the game is delayed until sometime in 2026. And finally, Bloober Team has signed another deal with Konami for a new game. The developer behind the Silent Hill 2 Remake did not announce what game this would be, but it will be based on an existing Konami IP . Another Silent Hill, perhaps? Or Castlevania?

[MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT] Recorded October 31st, 2024 Happy Halloween, Folks! And what better way to celebrate than with our first video Podcast Episode. Happy Halloween! It seemed only fitting that on this day, the culmination of Spooktober, we get together to discuss undoubtedly one of the best survival horror games in recent memory. Back in 2022 when Silent Hill 2 remake was first revealed to be in development from Bloober Team, the team behind things like The Medium, Layers of Fear, and Observer, the reveal was met with a great deal of skepticism. Would a team that had up until this point only made mid-tier horror experiences be able to truly encapsulate the greatness of the original Silent Hill 2 game? As time went on and more and more gameplay emerged however, it became clear that we had something special on our hands. The end result, releasing on October 8th 2024 not only met expectations of many fans but exceeded them. Akin to the Resident Evil remake released on GameCube in 2002, this remake of Silent Hill 2 expands on the original in almost every way while keeping the original tone and atmosphere of the game intact. The end result is a product that pays great respect to the original source material while completely modernizing the gameplay for the audience of today. Silent Hill 2 is the story of one man, James Sunderland, (voiced and mocapped beautifully here by Luke Roberts), and his journey to the small town of Silent Hill. Here James hopes to find a way to reconnect with his dead wife Mary who has mysteriously written him a letter asking him to look for her there. In this desolate and abandoned town, James encounters other people also called back to this place to search for answers, family, or even just peace. Silent Hill 2 is an examination of the psychology of grief, of trauma, and how we process information. While on the surface the game presents as a standard survival horror affair, there's so much there waiting to be analyzed and expanded upon. While Josh, Colin, and Skrilus do their best to touch on all of these elements and theorize on what some of the symbolism and encounters mean, we can only do so much. At the end of the day this is a game that deserves to be played by anyone who is a fan of not only survival horror but of stories that explore the human condition. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up, and after you've had a chance to play it, come back and give this a listen. We think you'll like what you play, and what you hear of course. Thanks very much for listening, and take care!
Vincent joins to discuss the highs and lows of Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 Remake - a game that we do not agree on, sort of. We get into the things they've changed as well as the many references to the original - and how it all comes together in this year's biggest AAA horror game.

The bombardment of game releases continues, and it does not seem to be going to let up anytime soon. Although there are plenty of new games on the horizon, the glut of remakes and remasters seems to have become a larger piece of the gaming pie in recent years. Does gaming have a remake/remaster problem? Or is this a symptom of the greater issue with so much uncertainty in the industry? Where do Sean and Marc stand on the number of remakes/remasters coming down the pike? Is there a preference for how they do them? Sean's been playing the latest release from Nomada studio, Neva, the development team behind the indie hit Gris. Does it deserve the same praise as their previous title? Could it perhaps be even better? Marc's been hammering away at more Metaphor ReFantazio and Diablo IV as well. This week Bloober Team has announced a new game hot on the heels of their Silent Hill 2 launch. Nintendo is testing out *something* for the Switch in an online capacity, but they don't want their testers to say what. 343 Studios has changed their name to Halo Studios and dropped their Slipstream Engine in favor of Unreal Engine 5 for the next Halo game(s). And a former Playstation exec argues that there's a lack of creativity in the industry. Is he right? And yes, Grif will indeed talk A LOT about Silent Hill, but she'll keep it pretty spoiler free. Chicken's adding his own difficulty modifier to his playthrough. And Baka is back on his GTA V addiction. All this and much more on this week's Infinite Respawn Podcast! The long-awaited remake of Silent Hill 2 has finally arrived on PlayStation 5, and it's a hit. Players around the world are loving it, providing audiences with the very first acclaimed title from Polish studio Bloober Team. Indeed, many (including some on this show) questioned whether these guys were even up to the task, and reasonably so: Bloober's average Metacritic score across 11 previous PlayStation releases is a 65. But it's here, it's great, and we're excited to talk about it, along with other horror-themed fare in the form of Until Dawn Remake, too. Other news this week includes rumblings of a potential Concord F2P comeback, Ubisoft possibly being taken private, SEGA's surprise announcement of Alien: Isolation 2, the delisting of LittleBigPlanet 3 from the PSN, and more.
