99.25% of respondents for the Fat in Healthcare report said they'd experienced bias in healthcare as a result of their body size. If that's not a f*cked fact, I don't know what is.For anyone living in a larger body, it's not a surprise to hear that many fat people have experienced discrimination at the doctors or in another healthcare setting. Whether that's having your issues dismissed and completely attributed to your size, or being told to ‘eat healthier' at every single appointment (without being asked what you do eat!) - the impact can be damaging. Vinny Welsby created the ‘Fat in Healthcare' report, and the findings broke my heart. In this episode, we chat about:Their advice for anyone struggling with internalised anti-fat biasHow anti-fat bias in healthcare perpetuates and what it looks likeThe most surprising findings from the Fat in Healthcare reportWhich marginalised groups are most impacted by anti-fat bias in healthcare? What people in healthcare need to understand about fat patientsHow organisations can provide size-inclusive careFollow Vinny on Instagram or download the Fat in Healthcare report here.✋

The festive season brings plenty of fun - parties, mince pies, Christmas decorations, beach trips with your friends - but it can also bring a lot of ‘shoulds', with a side serving of guilt and shame if you don't live up to them. This year, I'd love you to take a healthier approach to the festive season: choose nourishment over punishment. Today's episode is taken from a talk I recently did for The Hive, and it's all about ditching the ‘shoulds', the guilt and the shame for the festive season, so that we can choose self-compassion instead.PS. This is the final episode for 2024 as I go on a two week break for the holidays! See you all next year

I'm a Body Image and Food Freedom Coach, so my entire job is about body acceptance and confidence, self love, and knowing that your worth doesn't depend on the way you look… but sometimes I look in the mirror and think “f*ck… I wish I didn't look like that”.(This is where you can faint with shock!)I still have bad body image days. But how I respond to them now is completely different! In this episode, I'll share the 7 things I do when I have a bad body image moment, so you can add them to your toolkit.
Imagine if you looked at photos and felt happy, rather than shying away from the camera? For boudoir photographer Amy Donovan, the journey of self-acceptance has been both personal and professional. After struggling with body image from a young age, Amy has made it her mission to help women see their TRUE selves reflected back in her lens - not an idealised, filtered version, but the raw, authentic beauty that radiates from within. In this episode, Amy and I chat about:Why boudoir photography can empower you to see the REAL you (that everyone else sees and loves!)Strategies for overcoming the negative self-talkWhy ‘supporting' your kids by going on a diet together can cause lifelong damageSocial media – positive or negative influence? The privilege of ageingWhy she doesn't Photoshop her own pictures or her clients'Follow Amy on Instagram here.Download the FREE Building Body Acceptance self-paced online course here.Click subscribe or follow to make sure you get notified about new episodes.Slide into my DMs for a chat: https://www.instagram.com/inspire__wellnessWebsite: https://www.inspirewellnessau.com.au
Is anyone else feeling like they're absolutely slogging it out to make it to the end of the year? I can relate! Many of us feel the pressure to ‘do it all', and when we can't balance all of our commitments perfectly, we feel like we're failing - especially when we reach the busy season and our plates are extra full. That's why I'm a huge believer in learning to embrace the season that you're in (and hopefully notice that it's coming before you get smacked over the head with a reminder from your body!).In this episode, I'll share:The myth of balance and ‘doing it all'How to work with your values throughout each seasonThe Mack truck moment that made me realise I need to slow downMy top 3 ways to support yourself during a transition to a slower seasonWhy emotional and nervous system regulation are keyDownload the FREE Building Body Acceptance self-paced online course here.Click subscribe or follow to make sure you get notified about new episodes.Slide into my DMs for a chat: https://www.instagram.com/inspire__wellnessWebsite: https://www.inspirewellnessau.com.au
When you spend a lifetime at war with your body, it's easy to feel disconnected from it. This makes it harder to practice intuitive eating (how are you supposed to TRUST your body's cues?!), harder to enjoy movement (every workout is a fight) and harder to show it love (when what you see in the mirror doesn't feel like ‘you').Emma Walkinshaw is a Body Confidence Coach and accredited yoga instructor who is passionate about helping women to build a connection with their bodies, so that they can work with them, rather than against them.In this episode, Emma and I chat about:How she did her yoga teacher training without ever believing she'd teach, because she didn't have a ‘yoga body'The best yoga for beginners (and how to build the courage to actually go)Creating connection with your bodyYoga and mindfulness for body confidenceWorking with your nervous system to create calmThe role of morning routines in building self-awareness and a solid relationship with yourselfFollow Emma on Instagram here or join her 21 Minutes of Morning Magic Community here.Download the FREE Building Body Acceptance self-paced online course here.Click subscribe or follow to make sure you get notified about new episodes.Slide into my DMs for a chat: https://www.instagram.com/inspire__wellnessWebsite: https://www.inspirewellnessau.com.au

There was one vital step that I missed at the beginning of my intuitive eating journey, and it made the entire process so much more difficult! It's tempting to jump straight from ‘all restriction' to ‘all freedom', hoping that you'll find that effortlessly healthy balance quickly… yet instead, the ratio of burgers to broccoli isn't working out how you expected. If you're about to start your food freedom journey (or you've started but can't get out of the ‘eat everything in sight' phase), grab a pen and paper and get ready to take some notes from this episode.I'll give you the exact process I use with my 1:1 coaching and Confidence Code clients to audit your current food habits to see what needs to change before you can dive into intuitive eating and food freedom. Malnutrition, your hair falling out, nausea, getting a healthy organ amputated… do these things sound like ‘health' to you?Probably not. Yet they're synonymous with weight loss surgeries and Ozempic, which are touted as the ‘gold standard' for weight loss and are often undertaken in the name of health. WILD, right?!I'm horrified by the rise of Ozempic and genuinely scared about the impact this is having on society, because we aren't being informed about all of the facts behind these ‘magic bullet' solutions for weight loss. Luckily, people like Kirstin Ackerman - aka.
