How many times have you understood exactly why you do something and still couldn't stop doing it?Jessica Ortner breaks down why self-knowledge alone can't override a nervous system in survival mode, and why the missing piece isn't more willpower or better habits. It's safety. This conversation goes beyond the usual tapping explainer into the actual neuroscience of why your body keeps running patterns your mind has already rejected. What you'll learn:Why understanding your patterns doesn't stop themHow tapping sends a biological signal of safety your nervous system actually responds toWhy self-sabotage is misguided self-love, not a character flawJessica Ortner is co-founder of The Tapping Solution and co-author of Rewired, the most research-backed book on EFT tapping to date. You're making money but it doesn't feel how you thought it would feel at this point.Because one month is brilliant and the next is quiet. And you're working just as hard in both. Sometimes harder in the quiet ones. And no matter what you do that peaks and troughs pattern just keeps repeating. In this episode of Simple Business Dream Life I'm getting into why this keeps happening. And I promise you it's not what you think. In this episode I cover:Why inconsistent income is rarely a marketing problemThe real reason the peaks and troughs keep repeating no matter how hard you pushWhy being this close to your business is actually working against youWhat it cost me to stay inside my own bottle for too longThe questions that will show you exactly where your business is leakingWhat getting outside perspective actually looks like and why it changes everythingThis episode is for you if you're doing all the things and the income still isn't reliable. If you're great at getting clients but can't seem to create anything consistent underneath. If you know something needs to change but you're too deep in the doing to see clearly what.Key TakeawaysWhy consistent income requires the right things done consistently not just more things done more oftenHow being too close to your business stops you seeing what's actually holding it backThe hidden cost of staying in the peaks and troughs cycle longer than you need toWhy the answer isn't another strategy it's a clearer view of the one you already haveThe 5 questions that will show you exactly where to focus nextMentioned in this episodeThe SCALE Mastermind. Love Your Career Podcast? Let us know!Career Reinvention, Retirement and Building a Richer Life with Hannah MartinWhat does it really mean to prepare for retirement? For many women, especially mid-career professionals, retirement planning is often reduced to one question: “Will I have enough money?” Yet, as Hannah Martin explains in this thoughtful conversation, a fulfilling later life requires more than financial security. It also calls for purpose, community, health, independence and a clear sense of what comes next.In episode 282 of Your Career Podcast, Jane Jackson reconnects with Hannah Martin, founder of Talented Ladies Club and Rich Retiree, seven years after their last conversation. Hannah and I chatted in episodes 19 and 101. Hannah shares how her work supporting ambitious mothers returning to the workforce evolved into a new mission: helping women prepare for retirement in a way that is practical, empowering and deeply human.Jane and Hannah discuss the unique career and financial challenges many women face, including career breaks, lower pension or superannuation balances, caring responsibilities, and the implications of, unfortunately, a divorce. Confidence dips after time out of the workforce, and the long-term impact of the gender pay gap. They also explore why career reinvention does not stop at midlife. Whether you are facing redundancy, considering a career change, preparing for retirement, or wondering how to create more meaning in your next chapter, this conversation offers a reassuring reminder that it is never too late to make considered, confident choices. In this episode, we discuss:Why retirement planning must go beyond moneyThe four pillars of a rich retirement: finance, health, community and purposeHow career breaks can affect confidence, savings and long-term financial independenceWhy women often face different retirement challenges from menThe importance of community, contribution and meaningful activity as we ageHow mid-career professionals can begin planning their next chapter before they are forced toWhy career clarity matters at every stage of lifeHow cultural attitudes towards ageing can affect confidence, wellbeing and possibilityThe value of wisdom, lived experience and intergenerational connectionKey takeawayA rich retirement is not only about what you have saved. It is also about the life you are building. For mid-career professionals, this episode is a timely reminder to pause, reflect and ask: “What do I want the next chapter of my life and career to feel like?” Whether you are navigating redundancy, exploring a career change, rebuilding confidence, or preparing for a new stage of life, clarity is the first step towards making wise and grounded decisions.Resource mentioned:YouTube video when Jane visited Hannah in Worthing, UK - showing how genuine networking turns into genuine connections, taking the online connection offline to meet in person. Have you ever looked around at your life and realized nothing is necessarily wrong… but something feels off? You're showing up.You're checking the boxes. You're doing what needs to be done.Yet underneath it all, there's a quiet feeling that you've stopped growing. In this episode of The Project You Podcast, I dive into what I call Borderline Complacency—that dangerous middle ground where you're not moving backward, but you're no longer intentionally moving forward either. This isn't about laziness. In fact, many high-achieving women and leaders find themselves here. Life gets busy. Business gets demanding. Family needs increase. And before we know it, we've shifted from living intentionally to simply maintaining. In this conversation, I share my own experiences with recognizing complacency in different seasons of life and the subtle signs that helped me realize I was settling for comfort instead of growth. In This Episode, We Discuss:The difference between contentment and complacencyWhy successful people are often most vulnerable to becoming comfortableThe subtle signs that you've stopped challenging yourselfHow routine can quietly become a limitationThe cost of staying in a season longer than you're meant toWhy growth often requires discomfort and uncertaintyQuestions to ask yourself if you feel stuckPractical ways to reignite momentum in your health, business, relationships, and personal growthQuestions for Reflection:Where have I become comfortable? What have I been tolerating that no longer aligns with who I'm becoming?Am I growing intentionally or simply maintaining? What is one area of my life that needs renewed attention and action? What would the next version of me do differently?Key Takeaway:Complacency rarely announces itself. It sneaks in through comfort, routine, and familiarity. The challenge isn't always avoiding failure—sometimes it's refusing to settle for less growth than you're capable of.Your next level may not require a complete reinvention. It may simply require an honest look at where you've stopped stretching yourself.Connect With MeIf this episode resonated with you, share it with a friend, take a screenshot, and tag me on social media. I'd love to hear where you may be experiencing borderline complacency and what action you're taking to move forward.Remember: Growth doesn't happen by accident. The life you're building is shaped by the small decisions you make every day.Keep becoming. #TheProjectYouPodcast #BorderlineComplacency #PersonalGrowth #Leadership #Mindset #WomenInBusiness #GrowthMindset #PurposeDrivenLife #TheProjectYou #KeepBecomingIn a world where being perfect seems to be the goal- - it's important that we know who's we are & who we are. We aren't called to be perfect - we are called to be better today than yesterday! - that's it. It doesn't have to be quantum leaps, in fact I believe that in the day to day -our little steps in the right directions! I am on a mission to help women become more of who they were created to be and less of who they were told to be.And, that takes intention, that takes action: My goal is to drop some wisdom, bring you resources and that takes community. If you want to get ahead in your business, it's time to stop being the technician and start stepping into the manager, and visionary roles. Our host, Diane Rolston, references one of the most important business books she's ever read E-Myth Revisited. She explains something so many business owners experience but don't have the language for and why most women are stuck over-functioning in exactly the wrong role.Listen to learn these key takeaways:Why going out on your own means you didn't just become the technician. You became every other role in the company too, whether you wanted to or notThe three key roles from E-Myth Revisited: what each one is responsible for and the critical question each role is constantly askingWhy most entrepreneurs skip one of these three roles completely and why that's exactly why things feel chaoticThe dangerous comfort zone most women over-function in: why it feels productive but is quietly keeping the business stuckWhat happens when your head is down doing the work all day and the two perspectives you completely lose access toWhy the manager and visionary roles keep getting neglected and what the real cost of that neglect is to your businessWhere a Virtual Assistant fits into all three roles: not just taking tasks off your plate, but actually strengthening a specific role you've been neglectingHow support becomes truly transformational when it frees you to operate as the visionary and when businesses actually start to scaleThe honest reminder: the goal isn't to stop being the technician entirely (you're good at it for a reason)One final question to ask yourself right now about which role actually needs more of your attention firstComing up next: why smart, capable women struggle so much to delegate in the first place and why it's almost never about skill.Free resources to get started with your own virtual assistant: "Top 10 Questions to Ask a VA Company When You Want to Hire a VA" by Diane Rolston: https://app.groove.cm/groovemember/download/xylsp51fbe3b909e70d43d635f85fa3f115b5229 Tasks You Can Delegate: https://keap.page/mw315/229-tasks-you-can-delegate1.html5 Problems in Delegating: https://bit.ly/5ProblemsofDelegatingYour Virtual Assistant Readiness Scorecard: https://www.dianerolston.com/blog/still-doing-it-all-yourself-your-virtual-assistant-readiness-scorecardBook a time to chat with Diane directly to get your own vetted Dynamic VA: https://www.dianerolston.com/booking.htmlWant to be invited to join Diane's NEW high-level, like-minded group of women? In Episode 129 of The Sexy Escort Guide Podcast, Vivian is joined once again by returning guest and longtime friend of the show, Paul Cobo of SexyLuxStudio. In an industry where many companions believe more exposure, more availability, and more content automatically lead to more bookings… Paul explains why that approach may actually be pushing high-value clientele away.Together, Vivian and Paul discuss the psychology of exclusivity, why elite clients are wired differently, and the subtle ways companions unknowingly sabotage their own positioning. They also explore the difference between simply “having a business” and intentionally positioning yourself to attract aligned, high-end clientele who value discretion, refinement, and exclusivity. If you've ever felt stuck, overworked, overexposed, or frustrated by the quality of clientele you're attracting, this episode may completely shift the way you view your brand and business.✨ In This Episode:Why overexposure can repel wealthy clienteleThe psychology behind exclusivityCurrent industry trends companions should pay attention toWhy some companions continue thriving in today's marketThe difference between business positioning and a business planHow to attract clients who are aligned with your lifestyle and standards
You know that dream sales call where the client shows up already obsessed, and basically asking, “Where do I send the money?”That is the kind of sales experience every coach wants. But then there's the other calls. The “let me think about it” calls. The “I need to talk to my partner” calls. The ones where seems genuinely interested, then quietly disappears. And before you make that mean something about you, your coaching offer, or your ability to sell, let's normalize something: no is part of sales. Not everyone is going to be a yes. They are not supposed to be. But when the ideal client is still hesitating, ghosting, or making price the problem, there is usually something deeper going on.In this episode, I'm breaking down what actually creates an easy yes before someone ever gets on a sales call with you. We'll look at the 3 main drivers behind that yes: trust, messaging, and transformation, especially in the world of therapist coaching. You'll learn:Why hearing “no” does not automatically mean you are doing something wrongThe real reason some people show up ready to buy before you even mention the investmentHow trust is built before the sales conversation ever happensWhy consistency matters more than one perfect postWhy market research is the key to creating content that makes your ideal client feel deeply seenWhat makes an offer feel clear, specific, and easy to say yes toWhy people are not buying your calls, worksheets, or curriculum, they are buying the transformationThis episode is your reminder that selling does not have to feel like convincing, chasing, or performing. To building something irresistible, CarlyJoin the FREE 5-Day Workshop | JUNE 22-26 (Live Experience) | Escape the Therapy Grind & Build Your Coaching BusinessResources from this episode:Therapreneur: A Therapist's Guide to 3x Your Therapy IncomeThe Coach IntensiveListener Giveaway! If you've been loving the podcast, this is the best way to support it and get something amazing back. Dave's been throwing parties. Three in four days. Confirmation sponsor for a friend's son, family and friends over the next night, and then — because the universe has a sense of humor — some local gentleman decided to remodel Dave's brick mailbox. With his truck. At speed. Bricks were found over a hundred feet away. The guy left his license plate behind, which Dave is now holding like a man who accidentally picked up evidence and doesn't know what to do with it. The driver's fine. Well — he's in jail. But he's alive. Dave wants him to know that God's mercy is always ready and present, even for the man who turned a brand-new brick mailbox into gravel.Meanwhile, Adam got a new plum tree. Planted a maple. He's getting oaks for the pig pen so they'll drop acorns someday. One of his chickens died in a water barrel trap that nobody designed on purpose — the lid flipped, the chicken couldn't get out. Farm life. And then the real news: baby Mary is doing better. Haylee got to hold her. Adam held her for over three hours — only his second time since she was born in February. Three months of NICU, and the man finally got to just sit with his daughter. Praise God. Keep those prayers coming. Also — Adam's turning 40 on June 2nd. And Lady Pamela is due with their next baby on June 4th. They floated the idea of recording an episode in the delivery room. Pamela has not been consulted. This week we're sipping 13th Colony Distilleries Southern Rye Whiskey, French Oak Finish, Small Batch — 47.5% ABV. Platinum award-winning. Silky texture with hints of rye, apricot, and brown sugar. The rye's there but it doesn't overpower — still has a lot of bourbon elements to it. About forty bucks. That's a great buy. Then the conversation turns to something Adam's son Jude sparked. Jude — Adam's second oldest — just finished reading the entire Bible, Genesis through Revelation, straight through. Now he's reading the Council of Trent Catechism. He's a kid. Nobody told him to do this. He just had good books lying around the house and picked them up. That's the whole point. The virtue of study — studiositas — isn't what school taught us it was. It's not cramming. It's not memorizing facts to dump after the test. Aquinas calls it a habit of the mind ordered towards truth. Classical education at its best doesn't fill your head — it forms the way you think. The more you read rightly, the more you can arrive at correct conclusions through a sound process, not just recall. Study leads to contemplation. Contemplation is rest in truth. And it's not about finishing the book. If you're reading to check the box, you've already lost the plot. Sit with it. Let yourself be carried. The intellectual life doesn't compete with the family — it serves the family. From there, Adam and Dave go back and forth on the books that actually formed them. Adam leads with Joseph Pieper's In Tune with the World — a short, devastating argument for why festivity dies when we strip the divine out of celebration. Dave counters with The Soul of the Apostolate — the book that reordered his understanding of what has to come first before any ministry means anything. Adam brings John Senior's The Restoration of Christian Culture — hard opinions, harder truths, and a quote worth sitting with: the virtue of study requires a canon, a body of great works proven across time. Without tradition to guide what's worth studying, you're just chasing novelty.Dave goes deep on Fr. Timothy Gallagher's The Discernment of Spirits — a practical walkthrough of St. Ignatius's rules that shed light on the stages of the spiritual life and how the enemy shifts tactics as you grow. Adam responds with Raymond Arroyo's biography of Mother Angelica — a story of suffering, faithfulness, and a woman who said yes without knowing where it would lead. Dave makes a case for the Psalms — Psalm 51, the De Profundis in Latin, and the realization that there's a psalm for every moment of a man's life, and he'd been skimming past them for years.Adam goes deep cut: Fr. Paul Murray's Aquinas at Prayer — a book that reoriented his understanding of St. Thomas from pure intellect to contemplative soul. Dave brings Divine Mercy in My Soul by St. Faustina — hundreds of pages of our Lord's words on mercy that are sometimes scandalously generous. Adam throws in Simon Sinek's Start with Why as the non-Catholic book that changed how he thought about business, marriage, and fatherhood. Both men land on fiction that haunts them — Adam with Sigrid Undset's Kristin Lavransdatter, Dave with Candice Millard's Hero of the Empire on young Churchill. They touch on Lencioni's Five Dysfunctions of a Team, Gone with the Wind, the bishop chapters of Les Misérables, Neil Postman's Amusing Ourselves to Death, and close with John Senior's Thousand Good Books — the canon itself, the list that connects it all. They end where they always end: with Plato. They're halfway through the Republic in their great books group. David sits on the dumb couch. He knows he sits on the dumb couch. This episode is different. After five years of never missing a week, we suddenly disappeared for two weeks…Two weeks ago, we lost one of our best friends — Chris Crawford — unexpectedly at just 46 years old. In this episode, we sit down not with polished answers or a sermon outline, but simply as two grieving friends trying to process heartbreak in real time.We talk honestly about:What grief actually feels likeHow loss comes in wavesThe emotional weight of showing up when you don't want toWhy presence matters more than wordsThe tension of holding hope and heartbreak at the same timeSome of the unhelpful things people say to grieving people (even with good intentions)Why we felt it was important not to just “move on” too quicklyThis is a conversation about friendship, loss, pain, love, and learning how to sit with grief instead of trying to fix it.If you're grieving right now…If someone you love is grieving…Or if you simply need permission to not be okay for a while…we hope this episode reminds you that you're not alone.More than anything, this conversation reminded us: Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply show up.00:00 - We're Back After Tragedy00:36 - Missing Our First Podcast Weeks in 5 Years01:07 - Losing One of Our Best Friends03:03 - How Grief Comes in Waves04:36 - The Closest Loss We've Ever Experienced05:19 - The Shock of Losing Chris at 4607:11 - Writing Through Grief & Journaling08:26 - Why Christians Struggle With Grief08:58 - Preaching While Grieving10:24 - Holding Hope and Heartbreak Together11:54 - Grieving Without Easy Answers13:14 - The Tension of Comforting People15:13 - Presence Matters More Than Words15:45 - A Message That Encouraged Us18:33 - Grief, Vulnerability & Being Real20:15 - Show Up for Someone This Week20:50 - Never Underestimate Presence21:43 - What's Next for the Podcast22:08 - Final Thoughts & Encouragement

The anxiety you carry, the way you go silent in conflict, the relentless drive that never quite feels like enough, these didn't start with you. They started much earlier, in relationships and environments your body learned to survive before you had words for any of it. And according to Dr. Nicole LePera, until you understand what your nervous system actually encoded in those years, you'll keep bumping into the same walls, the same patterns, the same exhaustion.Dr. Nicole LePera is a clinical psychologist trained at Cornell University and the New School for Social Research, a New York Times bestselling author, and the founder of the global SelfHealers community. Her new book, Reparenting the Inner Child, brings together neuroscience, attachment research, and epigenetics to explain not just why we are the way we are, but how real change actually happens in the body, not just the mind.In this conversation, you'll explore:Why your childhood adaptations were brilliant at the time, and how they became the patterns holding you back nowWhat the inner child actually is (the science, not the cliche), and why insight alone isn't enough to change itThe neuroscience of emotional flooding: what's happening in your body when you can't just calm down, no matter how much you want toWhy midlife is often the moment these old patterns finally surface, and why that's not regression, it's readinessThe epigenetics of stress: how your ancestors' survival adaptations may be running your nervous system todayWhere to actually begin if you want to do this work without needing to excavate everything that happened to you as a childIf you've spent years doing the work and still find yourself reacting in ways that don't feel like you, this conversation will help you understand why, and what to do next. You can find Nicole at: Website | Instagram | Episode TranscriptNext week, we're sharing our conversation with Jon Acuff about why procrastination is not actually your problem and the surprising permission shift that happens when you finally finish what matters most. "Cold outreach is a great way to start — but it's not how you scale."Welcome back to The Speaker Lab Podcast! In this solo episode, host Dan Irvin makes the case that the most efficient gig you'll ever book is the one you just finished. The problem? Most speakers walk off stage, shake a few hands, grab a photo, and move on — completely missing the two, three, maybe five opportunities that were already sitting in that room.Dan breaks down the exact post-event process he uses to turn every speaking gig into referrals, rebookings, and long-term relationships — including the story of a low-fee local event that turned into over $50,000 in workshops with a client he's still working with today. This isn't about doing more work. It's about doing the right work after the work most people think is the finish line. You'll learn:Why the stage is just the beginning — and what your job actually looks like in the 48 hours after you leave itHow Dan's post-event process generates referrals, repeat bookings, and long-term clients on autopilotThe handwritten thank you note habit Dan swears by (and why it still works in 2025)Why post-event calls are non-negotiable — and exactly what Dan covers in every single oneThe performance review section: how to ask for honest feedback without making it awkwardThe one question Dan always asks to surface referrals — and who you should (and shouldn't) be asking it toWhy most event planners won't bring the same speaker back year over year — and why that's actually great news for your businessHow to stay top of mind without forcing the relationshipThe $50,000 follow-up: what happened when Dan showed up to a packed standing-room event he almost didn't takeWhy your next 10–15 gigs are probably already sitting in rooms you've spoken inAnd much, much more! Most agency owners treat legal as a tax — a slow, expensive speed bump between the handshake and the kickoff. Sharon Toerek thinks that's exactly backwards.Sharon is a marketing and intellectual property attorney who has spent over a decade working exclusively with independent agencies through her firm Torek Law, which operates in the agency world as Legal + Creative. In this episode, she breaks down how agencies leave real money on the table by treating contracts as admin rather than leverage — and what to do instead. We get into payment terms buried in enterprise agreements that silently stretch 60 days into 90, exclusivity clauses that punish agencies for the specialization clients hired them for, and the IP transfer timing that gives agencies more power than they realize. Sharon also makes the case for why having your own MSA matters even when the big brands will never sign it — and why deals almost never blow up when agencies push back at the contract stage. What We Cover:Why legal should be a money-generating function, not a cost dragThe payment term language in enterprise contracts that quietly kills cash flowHow to negotiate exclusivity without giving away more than you need toWhy you'll never have more leverage than you do right now, at the contract stageThe IP transfer timing that can become serious financial leverage when a client goes sidewaysBuilding your own MSA toolkit — and why it matters even when you'll never use itWho should be in the room during contract negotiations (and what the lawyer's actual job is)How AI is changing the ownership question in agency-client and agency-freelancer agreementsTurning proprietary frameworks, methodologies, and systems into licensable, sellable IPWhy deals almost never fall apart when you push back — and what it signals when they do
Have you ever had someone you respect say something … and suddenly you start questioning yourself?Yup ... me too.I had a moment like that a few months ago. I asked someone I really respect if she follows Mel Robbins and she immediately said, “I hate her.”And just like that, my brain went into overdrive …Wait ... should I not like her?Did I miss something?Am I wrong for liking her? That right there? That's what we're talking about today. How fast we take someone else's opinion—and quietly turn it into our own.In this episode, we're getting into:Why your brain is wired to “borrow” opinions from people you respectHow beliefs get formed without you even realizing itThe concept of “agreements” (inspired by Don Miguel Ruiz) and how you've probably signed a few you didn't mean toWhy not everything that sounds smart is actually true for youA simple 3-second pause that can shift everythingHere's the truth most people don't realize:If you don't question what you're agreeing to … you end up building your life based on other people's fears, preferences, and bad moods. And that's not the game you're here to play. This episode is your reminder that you don't need to argue with people or prove anything. You just need to stop letting their opinions quietly rewrite yours.Take what feels true.Leave the rest.Your takeaway:Next time someone says something that hits you sideways, pause for a second and ask yourself:Do I want to carry this… or leave it with them? That question alone will change how you move.If this episode hit for you, share it with someone who needs to hear it—and come tell me what you're choosing not to carry anymore.p.s. "Weight neutral healthcare will allow people to access healthcare in a non-stigmatized and welcoming way, and will be treated the same as a patient of any body size."Have you ever walked into a doctor's office excited about your progress with intuitive eating, only to leave questioning everything after your doctor brought the conversation back to your weight? You're not alone. In this episode, I'm joined by Jackie Liu, a third-year medical student at Harvard and co-advocacy lead for Medical Students for Size Inclusivity (MSSI). Together, we unpack what weight-neutral healthcare really looks like, why it matters, and how weight stigma impacts your ability to trust your body. We also explore the power dynamics in medical settings and share practical ways to advocate for yourself and find more supportive care so you can leave guilt and shame behind.✅ What You'll Learn:How weight neutral healthcare differs from the weight-focused appointments we're so used toWhy the healthcare system's view of bodies isn't the absolute truth, and why your body is not the problemThe impact weight stigma and anti-fat bias have on your willingness to seek care (and your self-blame)What it actually looks like to walk into a weight neutral appointment, and real-life examples you can use to advocate for yourselfThe shift happening among medical students and healthcare providers who are questioning the status quo
Most salon owners set up their booking software once and never go back. The descriptions are outdated, the services do not reflect the brand anymore, and there is revenue sitting quietly in the background that nobody is capturing. Sound familiar? In this Mini Moment, Jen sits down with Sherri from Timely to talk about why an annual audit of your salon software is one of the most underrated things you can do for your business. And why the new Timely add-ons feature might just be the thing that changes how you think about upselling forever.Because here is the thing. The best add-on conversation is the one you never have to have out loud. When your software is set up properly, it does the prompting for you. Your clients get the nudge at the right moment, they feel in control of their choices, and you get the revenue without the awkward middle bit. What we coverWhy auditing your salon software once a year is non negotiableHow misaligned service descriptions can disconnect your brand experienceThe new Timely add-ons feature and how it works for your businessLetting technology do the upselling so you do not have toWhy giving clients ownership of their booking increases add-on uptakeHow solo operators can use software to reduce overwhelmAI, social media and the future of working smarter not harderWhy having fun on Instagram is actually a strategyYour software should be working while you are behind the chair. This episode will show you how to make that happen.Mentioned in this episode:https://www.salonrising.com

You're performing at a high level. But if you're honest… it's costing you more than it should. In this episode, Fernanda breaks down why elite performers - from Olympic athletes to Roman emperors - treat their brain as the primary site of training… and why most leaders are still operating on an untrained system. We're talking about things like:Why your brain defaults to reaction under pressure (and how to change it)The real reason your decisions feel heavier than they used toWhy more experience isn't fixing the problemHow cognitive overload is quietly degrading your leadershipThe difference between performing well… and thinking clearlyThis episode will show you how to stop running your leadership on outdated wiring - and start building a brain that actually supports the level you operate at.What you'll learn in this episode:Why neuroplasticity is the most underutilized leadership advantageThe real reason high performers hit invisible ceilingsHow Eileen Gu and Marcus Aurelius use the same mental training principleWhat's actually happening in your brain under pressure (amygdala vs prefrontal cortex)Why leadership culture got brain training completely wrongThe 3 core principles to start training your brain immediatelyHow to shift from reactive leadership to strategic clarityResources & References Mentioned:Fortune Magazine (Feb 2026 issue): https://fortune.com/2026/02/Stanford Psychophysiology Lab (James Gross): https://spl.stanford.eduCognitive Reappraisal Research (Gross, 1998): https://psycnet.apa.org/doi/10.1037/0022-3514.74.1.224Ochsner & Gross (2005): https://doi.org/10.1016/j.tics.2005.03.010Harvard Business Review Study: https://hbr.org/2019/06/research-women-score-higher-than-men-in-most-leadership-skillsMeditations by Marcus Aurelius: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/177851/meditations-by-marcus-aurelius/The Brain That Changes Itself by Norman Doidge: https://www.normandoidge.com/normandoidge/MAIN.htmlYour Next Steps:Watch the free masterclass: https://therewiredwoman.com/playbook/Website: https://therewiredwoman.com/Connect on Social: https://www.instagram.com/rewired.woman/Connect on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rewiredglobal-fernanda/Corporations interested in working with Rewired Global: https://rewiredglobal.com/corporates/
Send Gemma a messageFree live masterclass: 1st April 7:15 pm (AEDT)Why You Keep Falling for Emotionally Unavailable Men - Even When You Know BetterIf dating tends to bring up anxiety, self-doubt, people-pleasing, or the urge to lose yourself in someone else, this episode is for you.In this practical episode, I'm speaking directly to women who tend to be very giving, very empathic, and very accommodating in relationships, but who often struggle to stay connected to themselves while dating. If you have a history of subjugation, self-sacrifice, under-entitlement, loose boundaries, or worrying too much about being “too much” or “too needy,” dating can quickly become stressful and confusing. You may find yourself focusing more on whether the other person likes you than on how you actually feel.In this episode, I walk you through 10 clear dating rules to help you feel calmer, more grounded, and more self-protective in the early stages of dating, without becoming closed off or guarded. This is about dating in a way that helps you stay connected to your own needs, your own feelings, and your own experience. In this episode, I cover:Why meeting early in real life is better than building a false sense of connection through endless textingWhy first dates should be short, simple, and low pressureThe importance of putting a time boundary around early datesWhy alcohol can make it harder to stay connected to your instincts and boundariesWhy you do not need to extend a date unless you genuinely want toWhy it is healthy to directly say you'd like to see someone again if that is true for youWhy it matters to keep your life running normally when you meet someone newWhy rushing physical intimacy can create attachment before real compatibility is clearHow to think about chemistry more wisely, especially if you have a pattern of schema chemistryWhy the most important question after a date is not “Did they like me?” but “How did I feel?”Key themes in this episode:This episode explores how schemas such as subjugation, self-sacrifice, abandonment, emotional deprivation, and under-entitlement can quietly shape the dating process. It also highlights a more grounded and emotionally healthy approach to dating:Dating is data.Rather than treating every date like a test of your worth, this episode encourages you to slow down, gather information, notice how you feel, and assess whether the other person is truly right for you. A few weeks ago, I got an Instagram DM from a student who was having a hard time. She had photographed a dream client about a year ago. The session went so well, the photos were stunning, it truly could not have gone better. And then she recently saw that same client book another brand photographer. And her heart was broken. And honestly? Mine was too. Because I've been there. I think we've all been there. Whether you're a brand photographer or not, if you've been in business long enough, you've probably lost a client. So in this episode, I'm walking you through how I think about losing a client, what to evaluate, what not to spiral over, and how to reframe it in a way that actually makes you stronger (and maybe even a little delusional in the best way). We're talking:What to do first when you find out a client booked someone elseHow to evaluate your process and experience without spiralingThe difference between a one-off loss and a pattern you need to pay attention toWhy “there is enough for everyone” is more than just a fluffy mindsetWhen your offer might actually be the issueThe “if not this, then better” mindset shift that's changed everything for meHow to respond publicly when a past client works with another photographer (yes, go comment on their post!)If this has happened to you recently, I hope this episode feels like a deep breath and a little perspective shift.Links & Resources
Should the Parthenon (often called the “Elgin”) Marbles be returned to Greece? In this episode of Kids Law, Alma-Constance and Lucinda explore one of the biggest cultural and legal debates in the UK. The ancient sculptures were taken from the Parthenon temple in Athens over 200 years ago and are now displayed in the British Museum. Some people believe they were legally acquired. Others argue they should be reunited with the rest of the temple in Greece. So what does the law say? And can the law change? We're joined by solicitor Mark Stephens CBE, consultant at Howard Kennedy and a long-time campaigner for the reunification of the Parthenon Marbles. Mark explains:How Museum laws developed over timeWhy national museums in the UK currently cannot return objects, even if they want toWhy some countries say cultural objects are more than “museum pieces” — they are part of identityWhat “provenance checking” means and why it matters todayWhether returning objects would empty museums — or make them fairerWe also explore:Why learning from the past isn't the same as judging itWhether the age of criminal responsibility (currently 10 in England and Wales) is too youngWhy lowering the voting age to 16 could strengthen democracyHow the law evolves as society grows upMark shares his belief that the law is strongest when it protects the smallest voices — and that asking questions is often where change begins. When he was 10, Mark says he was very curious, asked a lot of questions and cared about fairness a lot.As always, Kids Law helps young people understand how laws affect them — and how they can shape the future. If you have worries or need support:Childline: 0800 1111 (free confidential advice for under 18)Visit: www.kidslaw.infoPlease subscribe, rate and share the podcast — and keep your brilliant questions coming. Long before modern TCM was standardized, systematized, and filtered through a biomedical lens, Classical Chinese Medicine described health as harmony...not the absence of pathogens, but the presence of balance. In this conversation, Tommy Hughes walks us back to the original canon — the Huangdi Neijing, the language of Qi, the cosmology of seasons, and the principle of treating what is not yet diseased. We explore the distinction between pathogenesis and salutogenesis, why ancient physicians prioritized vitality over diagnosis, and how the classical view of epidemics centered on terrain, climate, and susceptibility rather than transmission alone.Along the way, we unpack:The differences between modern TCM and its classical foundationsWhy “treating what is not yet diseased” represents a fundamentally different medical paradigmHow dampness and seasonal energetics shaped classical understandings of epidemicsThe principle of correlative resonance and what we tune ourselves toWhy chronic disease in the classical texts implicates the Heart and the spirit, not just the bodyThe risks of biohacking extremes in a system built on balanceThis is a return to first principles. Be Unmessablewith: The Podcast hosted by Josselyne Herman-Saccio
This episode will change the way you think about health, aging, and what it really takes to stay grounded when life is moving too fast and your nervous system is paying the price. If you've been pushing through on fumes, stacking your schedule like it's a sport, and telling yourself you'll rest “after this week,” you already know the truth: your body keeps the score. If you've tried to do all the “right” things but still feel inflamed, depleted, anxious, or like your energy isn't what it used to be, it can start to feel confusing and upsetting. And if you've ever looked at the whole biohacking world and thought, “Is this only for people with money and machines and a thousand supplements?” you're not alone. Most people want to feel better, but they're overwhelmed by noise, myths, and extremes.Today, Josselyne is joined by Dylan Gemelli, host of the Dylan Gemelli Podcast and a leading voice in biohacking, hormones, and longevity. Dylan's credibility comes from living it: he's rebuilt his life from the ground up, studied relentlessly, and earned the trust of audiences and experts by being both science-driven and spiritually grounded. His work centers on connecting the mind and body, and helping people preserve their lives through both physiology and mindset. Here's what you'll learn in this episode:The biggest misunderstanding about aging that makes people decline faster than they need toWhy “biohacking” isn't about expensive machines, and how doing too much can actually make you worseThe underrated daily practices that support cellular health: walking, sunlight, sleep, and lowering inflammationWhat inflammation is really doing to your body, and why prevention matters more than “fixing” afterwardWhy most standard bloodwork misses the real issues, and how reference ranges can normalize dysfunctionIf you want to feel vibrant as you age, not just “get through it,” this episode is for you. This conversation is a reminder that health is not a side project, it's the foundation, and you can start building it today.Want to discover your level of UNMESSABLEWITHNESS and your default mode as well as how to elevate your power and resilience? Most men believe porn addiction and objectification come from having too much sexual desire. That explanation feels convenient—but it's incomplete. And for many men, it keeps them stuck. In this episode of No More Desire, I break down the real psychology of objectification and explain how porn trains men to avoid vulnerability—not because they're weak or immoral, but because their nervous system learned that distance feels safer than connection.Porn addiction is not about lust. It's about emotional regulation. It's about power, safety, shame, and unmet relational needs. And until we understand the emotional and neurological systems underneath porn addiction, we'll keep fighting the symptom instead of healing the cause. In this episode, I walk you through why objectification intensifies when you're lonely, stressed, anxious, or ashamed—and why white-knuckling, willpower, and self-judgment only fuel the cycle. Using psychology, neuroscience, and grounded spiritual insight, I explain how compulsive sexual behavior functions as a coping strategy, not a character flaw. We'll explore how fantasy becomes a substitute for intimacy, how porn addiction hijacks emotional needs like importance and power, and why shame does not kill lust—it strengthens the system that creates it.I also share practical tools that help men retrain their nervous system, reduce sexual objectification, and recover from porn addiction without repression or shame. This episode is not about eliminating attraction. It's about elevating perception, restoring presence, and building a healthier relationship with your inner world. If you've ever wondered:Why you objectify women even when you don't want toWhy porn addiction gets worse during loneliness or stressWhy shame keeps pulling you back instead of setting you freeHow to heal porn addiction at the nervous-system levelHow to stop objectifying women without suppressing desireThis conversation will change the way you see porn addiction—and yourself. You don't need more willpower. You need leadership over your inner world. If this episode resonates, that's probably not an accident. You're not broken—but parts of you may be carrying pain that deserves leadership, not punishment.Stay present. Stay curious. And keep choosing leadership over reaction.Link to Blog Article for this EpisodeIf you're ready to build the mindset and lifestyle that lead to long-term freedom from porn addiction, join the No More Desire free online community and connect with men who are committed to real recovery. What if sex was more than performance… more than release… more than “getting it right”?In this episode of I'll Have What She's Having, I'm joined by Gayatri Beegan - an erotic mystic, initiatrix, and Sacred Sexuality Guide - for a deep, honest, and expansive conversation about sexual energy, desire, power, and pleasure - especially through the lens of men's sexuality and how it impacts our relationships as women. We explore why so many people feel disconnected from sex even when they're “doing it right,” how porn, performance pressure, and goal-oriented sex shut down pleasure, and what becomes possible when we shift from release to expression, from shame to full-spectrum sexuality. This episode is for you if you've ever wondered:Why sex doesn't always turn you on—even when you want it toWhy men often feel shut down, pressured, or disconnected in sexHow sexual energy can be a source of confidence, vitality, and powerWhat it actually means to feel safe, present, and alive in intimacyHow curiosity (not performance) creates better sexWe talk about:The vulnerability underneath men's sexual experiencesWhy porn can act like “junk food” for desire—and what nourishment looks like insteadHow sexual energy gets stuck (and how to move it through the body)The difference between orgasm, release, and expansionWhy communication, presence, and sensation are the foundations of great sexHow women can hold space for men without abandoning themselvesWhy sexuality and spirituality have always been deeply connectedThis is a conversation about better sex, yes—but also about sexual confidence, desire, intimacy, and reclaiming your power. If you're ready to stop feeling broken, stop performing, and start experiencing sex as something that actually feeds you… this one's for you.✨ Listen with curiosity.✨ Let your definition of sex expand.✨ And remember—you're not doing it wrong.Meet Our Guest:Gayatri is a Sacred Sexuality Guide, Transformational Leader, and Curator of Emergent Eros — an annual festival of intimacy and sexuality. The Christmas story is filled with miracles—not just to amaze us, but to inspire us to believe that God still works miracles today. In this episode, Three Keys to Receiving a Miracle, we explore why Scripture is filled with supernatural events and how those moments were written to strengthen our faith and raise our expectation for God's intervention in our lives.God is famous for great and unexpected acts. From the virgin birth to angelic visitations, dreams, visions, and signs in the heavens, the miracles of Christmas remind us that the supernatural is part of God's nature—and part of His plan for us.This teaching reveals three essential biblical keys to receiving a miracle, drawn from the Christmas story and the lives of Mary and Zacharias. In this episode, you will learn:Why believing God's promise must take priority over circumstancesHow past disappointments can weaken our expectation if we allow them toWhy aligning your words with God's promises mattersHow spoken faith helps prepare the way for miraclesWhy understanding God's love is essential to receiving from HimThe contrast between Mary and Zacharias highlights two very different responses to God's promise. Mary believed and aligned her words with God's Word, while Zacharias allowed years of disappointment to shape his response. Their stories reveal how belief, words, and trust in God's character work together in the miracle process. This episode also addresses a common struggle many believers face—the belief that they are not worthy of a miracle. The Christmas story declares the opposite truth: God's love is greater than every disqualifier. Jesus was given not because we were worthy, but because God loved us.As we reflect on the miracles of Christmas, this message invites us to respond like Mary:“Be it unto me according to your word.”God is still a God of miracles. He is still surprising His people. And He is still ready and willing to move in your life today.

But here we are with a new show and a WONDERFUL conversation with Episcopal priest and author, Reverend Joseph Yoo.Joseph has grown his online platform over the years on an authenticity and decency that feels so refreshing amidst so many spiritual and religious leaders taking advantage of people or sharing a message absent of love. It's also refreshing that he's not seeking to be a "content creator" but rather just trying to share insights and thoughts with folks in order to encourage them or to help himself work things out by saying them out loud and seeing what others think.During our conversation we cover:His thoughts on the Star Wars prequelsHis love of professional wrestlingHis childhood goal of becoming a season ticket holder for a local teamThe spiritual journey that lead him to becoming an Episcopal priest and planting a church in a denomination that he was new toWhy doubt is an essential part of the faithful lifeHow seminary helped him become affirmingAnd more!Shoutouts:The Pitt (show)Tattoos on the Heart by Gregory BoyleDo You Still Talk to Grandma? by Brit BarronFreaky TalesFollow JosephBlogWhen the Saints Go Flying InInstagramTikTokFollow UsInstagramThreadsPhilip's LetterboxdShare Your Questions/Suggestions/Feedback With Us:Email: thesubstancepod@gmail.comDM on InstagramSupport Us: Support the show with an individual donation on CashApp to $TheSubstancePod or become a monthly Patreon supporter at patreon.com/TheSubstancePod
