After receiving an education in biology and at seminary, Dr. Alan Weissenbacher worked for the Denver Rescue Mission as a chaplain to the homeless. He helped move homeless and addicted people out of an urban setting to a one-hundred-acre farm, giving them opportunities to help run the farm, care for animals, and receive therapy tailored to their individual needs: counseling, addiction therapy, job training, and more. Inspired by the struggles of his clients and filled with the desire to improve Christian rehabilitation, Alan resigned from his position at the Denver Rescue Mission and enrolled in a doctorate program. He studied neuroscience and spiritual formation at the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences in Berkeley and engaged with the question of how to improve addiction recovery, church practices, and spiritual formation using the scientific knowledge of the brain. Alan serves as the managing editor for the academic journal Theology and Science and has published works with Johns Hopkins University Press, Vernon Press, and ATF Press on the subjects of science, religion, and ethics. He authored the chapter on neuroscience and the human person in the second edition of the college textbook Science and Religion: A Historical Introduction in addition to articles in several journals, including Theology and Science, Dialog, Wesleyan Theological Journal, and Zygon. Wife, mother, Bible teacher, and entrepreneur Rachel G. Scott loves to help men and women navigate their God-given callings. In Taking the 5 Leaps, Rachel equips readers to go from delay to action. What kind of leap are you being invited to make? And how can you prepare, plan, and execute that leap? This book outlines five types of leaps you can take using illustrations from the Bible and personal stories.    The Fisherman's Leap (Peter) – when you leave your comfort zone to pursue God's instruction. The Shepherd's Leap (Abraham) – when you're called to make a physical relocation. The Builder's Leap (Nehemiah) – when you have a reassignment for a specific season. The Tentmaker's Leap (Paul) – when your career and calling coincide in the same season. The Trailblazer's Leap (Jesus) – when you disciple and serve others as you partner with God's vision.   Taking a risk of any kind is often accompanied with feelings of fear, uncertainty, and hesitancy. It requires courage and wisdom. Rachel introduces us to biblical characters who have paved the way to lead us into a greater understanding of God's heart and intentions for modern-day leapers. This is your invitation to take the leap and partner with God in living a leaping lifestyle!   RACHEL G. SCOTT is a devoted wife, mother, and Ohio native. She holds a BSc from Kansas State and an MBA from the University of Mary. As founder of the I Can't Come Down Movement, Bible teacher, and podcast host, she desires to inspire believers to walk in their purpose and assignment as they boldly take leaps of faith. Her need to be perfect and in control led to an unbalanced lifestyle filled with work, self-inflicted stress and illness, depression, and anxiety. In 2020, after years of striving and mental exhaustion, Vivian rededicated her life to the Lord and vowed to relinquish control and submit to God's will. Her newfound faith and commitment were immediately put to the test when she had to trust God to provide healing from stage 3 melanoma. Though this was a difficult time, Vivian claims she would not change a thing. That ‘wilderness' season, she says, delivered her from a prideful spirit and set her free from captivity. It was also during this time that God began speaking to her in dreams. His voice and the challenges she faced taught her how to give up control and trust God, embrace imperfection, and recognize, then recalibrate, the unbalance in her life. Today, Vivian not only shares her testimony of preparation and deliverance, but she also provides valuable lessons and helpful tips for actively seeking balance, which starts with making time for God, taking care of yourself, and sprinkling in some good old-fashioned fun.   Visit Vivian online here. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/danielle-foulk/message

About Brett Ivy My name is Brett, I'm the Chaos Coordinator aka the millennial mom trying my best to get this internet stuff done. I may also be the reason we, are here on our journey to use what nature has provided to thrive while we learn to preserve the past to create a more sustainable & sovereign future for our family. Bobby, my husband, and I are first generation homesteaders. We live here at Piney Oaks Homestead with our son, Lucas, and Bobby's mother. Our hope is to work our butts off so together with our family, including my parents (who still reside in south Florida) will one day reap the literal fruits of our labor on a community sustainable, multigenerational homestead. In 2018 we set a goal to leave behind our .23-acre suburban South Florida ‘ tropical paradise' HOA governed homestead with over 8 varieties of fruit trees for more simple living in a not so tropical place. We were on track to go look at a completely off grid homestead 8k feet up in the mountains in April 2020 when our plans were quickly shut down a month before. Determined to leave the hustle and bustle of Fort Lauderdale we got in the truck and started driving north. We started searching for our forever homestead in our home state. Fast-forward 5 months, 2 offers, and an ungodly number of showings we finally landed on Florida's Nature Coast in an old ag town about an hour from Gainesville. The past few years have been a whirlwind of learning… as a Florida native I have to say I'm still in shock that we have a frost date in Florida. We are super excited to have you all here to join along in our journey & share all that we learn with you. While your here have a look around, check out our recipes & vinegars too. Rickey Hill + Jeff Celentano, Director and Producer of The Hill Movie

RICKEY HILL The Baseball Legend and Inspiration for THE HILL movie-In Theaters August 25th! Born in Fort Worth, Texas to a poor Baptist preacher, Rickey Hill's life was a symphony of trials. Despite adversity, from poverty, bullying due to the braces on his legs, and balancing expectations and dreams, Rickey's relentless pursuit of his passion in baseball made him one of the greatest hitters the game has ever seen. His life is proof that every day is a canvas for growth, an opportunity to overcome hurdles and emerge stronger. Rickey's journey is more than just a success story – it's an inspiration for all to never let go of their dreams. Jeff Celentano, Director & Producer Born and raised in the small rural town of Pemberton, in Southern New Jersey. Jeff says his hometown “looks more like the backlot at Universal Pictures than a suburb in South Jersey." Celentano began his career as an actor while living on the east coast. Today, he is fast becoming one of the freshest new directors in Hollywood. The actor turned-writer/director has managed to effectively combine comedy and drama with his own personalized style. The story of Rickey Hill is a true-life drama of perseverance, faith, and talent emerging from a childhood of hardship, physical pain, and living in the shadow of his loving yet stern father. In adapting  a film of Hill's story, director Jeff Celentano (Glass Jaw, Breaking Point) recognized right away the potential for greatness a movie made from it could have — much like Rickey himself had a potential on the baseball field that needed to be nurtured before it could fly. “I began this journey fifteen  years ago,” says Celentano. “It all started when my brother, Mark, happened to be sitting in the lobby of a hotel next to a stranger. That stranger turned out to be Rickey Hill.  My brother had overheard Rickey talking on the phone to someone about how a film about Rickey's life had been in the process of getting made, but quickly fell apart.” “Mark struck up a conversation with Rickey and said, ‘You have to meet my brother, Jeff — he's the perfect person to get your film made,'” Celentano continues. “Sometime after that, I met Rickey and flew to Fort Worth, Texas, to meet Michael A. Blubaugh, who owned the rights to Rickey's life story.” Shortly after that meeting, the rights were secured and Celentano proceeded to climb the mountain that was THE HILL. You may know her from Good Morning America or The View special guest, Paula Faris joins me on the podcast today to talk about her new book, "You Don't Have to Carry It All." In Paula Faris's most important reporting yet, You Don't Have to Carry It All reveals a game plan that will not only make being a working mom "work" but will also reveal how and why society needs to value mothers first. Weaving together groundbreaking research with inspirational wisdom, she: recognizes the history of working moms in America and its lasting impact today, shows how motherhood has scientifically improved the minds and capabilities of women, encourages moms to link arms, not only with each other but also with men, and proves why corporate America is better with moms at the helm. After interviewing countless experts, thought leaders and mothers, Faris believes we can join together to create a path forward for ditching the mom guilt, ending burnout, and finally giving working moms the support they so desperately need. Because with working moms on the job, there are literally no hands more capable of creating the change we need!
