We discuss the recent changes in the AutoImmune Protocol and clarify what the intent and scope of AIP is, while busting some long standing myths. Mickey Trescott is a Chef and Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, certified through the Nutritional Therapy Association, and coaches a small number of one-on-one clients. She is the author of three best-selling books, The Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook, The Autoimmune Wellness Handbook and The Nutrient-Dense Kitchen. I also co-host The Autoimmune Wellness Podcast and co-teach The AIP Certified Coach Practitioner Training Program with Jaime. Her journey to the Autoimmune Protocol started as a vegan, having been diagnosed with both celiac and Hashimoto's disease. Eleven years later, in late 2014, she received a metastatic breast cancer diagnosis. Karla embarked on a holistic healing journey to help herself regain optimal health and longevity. In this episode of The Evolving Wellness Podcast, I chat with Jen Winkler about her personal experience with going on prescription medication to get her epilepsy under control, only to end up being put into remission and losing 80 pounds naturally with the keto diet. Jen explains how little time it took for her body to experience relief from seizures and how long she's been following the keto diet. In addition to relief from seizures, she explains how her thyroid numbers are looking like and what her blood sugar is like since going keto. Jen also explains how she got over the fear and anxiety over eating carbs when she thought for so long this is what caused her to gain weight in the past.
