When I ask what stops women from taking care of themselves emotionally, physically and spiritually on a consistent basis, I often hear this answer first“I dont have enough time!”The second reason that I hear is the I am too “Lazy” or “I tend to procrastinate”It is this second aspect that I am going to focus on in today's episode. As a way of teaching women how to take better care of their health, I have come to realise that this is a major issue for many women. And for the vast majority of women, it stems from a place of not being very equipped to deal with emotions. You see, when you are trying out something new or moving towards the goals that you have set for yourself or simply desire something, there is often discomfort. And since most of us have never been taught how to deal with this emotional discomfort, we tend to put off doing those things that would allow us to lead a life where we could fulfill our dreams. Infact, there are so many productivity apps available to us today, one would think that procrastination should not be an issue at all for most people. However, this could not be further from the truth. In this episode, I share with you-why procrastination is an emotional regulation problem rather than a time management one-a softer and more compassionate approach is more effective than criticism or judgment-how perfectionism can hold you back from achieving what you set out to do- 3 effective ways that you can overcome procrastinationI'm counting down the days until my brand new course launch and I can hardly WAIT!"Boost your emotional health: Build your radical self care practice".Announcing my upcoming new course for women. All these topics will be taught in details inside this brand new upcoming course!Inside this course, you have an opportunity to embark on this journey of healing and transformation towards feeling more empowered, motivated, and peaceful without having to figure it out and do it all by yourself!Sign up for the VIP waitlist today so that you have first access to the course and a special VIP BONUS once the course is launched!Sign up here- https://aninditarungta.lpages.co/vipwaitlist/This VIP bonus is a free mini course called "You have more time than you think- Scheduling made simple for busy women"

"Extraordinary" mothering is a powerful act of self care... Here's whyWomen are natural caregivers and are usually the primary caregivers in their families. However, often without realising we end up overgiving and run on empty without giving ourselves some respite. We then start feeling resentful of our responsibilities and feel demotivated and stressed. Let me start by asking you a question-“What do you feel deprived of right now in your life?”In what ways are you starving yourself from living a fulfilling and meaningful life?Do you feel deprived of Good company?More me time?More quality sleep?A creative outlet or a hobby?Only when you are able to pin point this, will you be able to take some action.- courage to face this truth. In this session, I share with you 3 reasons why self care is a courageous and radical act of love for most women2:55 Women's conditioning to be a giver can lead to "overgiving"5:08 Why prioritising your own needs is your responsibility6:03 What do you feel deprived of right now?8:18 We are not taught how to respect and appreciate ourselves8:55 Why many women lose their sense of "self" and "identity"11:06 Why we have to go against conventional norms to be healthy12:39 Why good health is NOT about "diet" and "exercise"15:15 Self care is an act of extraordinary motheringI'm counting down the days until my brand new course launch and I can hardly WAIT!"Boost your emotional health: Build your radical self care practice".Announcing my upcoming new course for women. All these topics will be taught in details inside this brand new upcoming course!Inside this course, you have an opportunity to embark on this journey of healing and transformation towards feeling more empowered, motivated, and peaceful without having to figure it out and do it all by yourself!Sign up for the VIP waitlist today so that you have first access to the course and a special VIP BONUS once the course is launched! This VIP bonus is a free mini course called "You have more time than you think- Scheduling made simple for busy women" https://aninditarungta.lpages.co/vipwaitlist/
A moment of self-compassion can change your entire day. A string of such moments can change the course of your life. — CHRISTOPHER K. GERMERI recently did a survey to find out where women needed the most support in terms of emotional self care and one response came up again and again- feeling demotivated. There can be many different reasons why we feel demotivated in terms of emotional, spiritual, or physical origins. But before I go any further I want to dispel one myth that many of us have about motivating ourselves - that by criticizing ourselves and pushing harder we can motivate ourselves when we feel like giving up or when we are lagging behind.Self criticism is not an effective motivator, self compassion is! Our self criticism tends to make us less confident and become afraid of failure. On the other hand, if we are compassionate towards ourselves, we are able to keep moving forward even when we stumble, not because we are any less capable but because we care about ourselves and give ourselves grace.1:08 Why self criticism as a motivation tool is a myth3:16 Your inner critic is not your friend!4:13 I SHOULD....how often do you "should" yourself?6:34 Why we need to redefine "perfection"!8:11 We are beautiful, flawed and "whole" all at the same time9:51 How embracing our imperfect ourselves helps motivate usAccepting imperfection and practicing self compassionOnce you start accepting your “imperfect” self, you are more likely to see yourself as a “whole” human being rather than a sum of all the discrete parts. Mistakes and failures, challenges are an inevitable part of our lives and once we are able to accept this as a fact, we are motivated to take charge of our lives. We are then able to assess what went wrong, focus on a solution and get on with our lives. In other words, we are free to operate from a place of “We are all trying to do the best that we can” and are able to appreciate and celebrate every tiny bit of progress that we make. Also, by learning how to be kind to ourselves we are able to stop criticizing ourselves for our flaws and mistakes and become comfortable with being “good enough”. This is an area that we will be exploring in detail so that you can feel more motivated, empowered, and calm in my upcoming course “Boost your emotions health: Build your radical self care practice”.The VIP waitlist is now open! Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside,You must know sorrow as the other deepest thing.—Naomi Shihab Nye, poetCompassion is acknowledging, becoming aware of suffering and that of the shared human condition that spares no one. Everyone deserves compassion and is worthy of it, including your own self. Many people however think that compassion for the self is another form of self indulgence or self pity. The truth is that by giving yourself the gift of compassion that you can take care of yourself in a loving and caring manner especially in challenging circumstances. In this episode I discuss-How your emotions work as your inner guidance system-Self kindness is the opposite of self judgement-Compassion helps us to connect with our pain and losses-You are as much worthy of your own compassion as anyone else!-Compassion helps us to feel less alone due to our common humanity-How mindfulness can be found in self compassionI’m counting down the days until my brand new course launch and I can hardly WAIT! It seems like many people are on a “diet” these days or on some new form of “exercise”. But there are so many different forms of diet and exercise and many times these diets and exercises just don’t work! But embracing your imperfect body does since it frees you up from the tyranny of diet and exercise. In this episode, I share with you - why we usually end up on a “diet” or a new “exercise” regime which may or may not be suitable for you- why compassion is the antidote to “body dissatisfaction”. It’s about moving from “uggh” when we face our imperfect body to going “awwe”-how selfcare is that aspect of our health that is within our control while many other things are not- why embracing “today’s body” is important and how you can free yourself from the constant cycle of “diet” or “exercise”I’m counting down the days until my brand new course launch and I can hardly WAIT! Have you made your body your friend yet?Do you take the time to PAUSE and tune into your body?Do you love and care for your body by attending to it’s needs? Your body sends out messages and even SOS signals when required so that you stop what you are doing and pay attention and give your body what it needs. Many women today are living in survival mode with their bodies constantly stuck in a “fight or flight response”. They are chronically stressed, overwhelmed with a never ending list of things to do and responsibilities, and unable to take out any time for self care. Is it any wonder then that so many women are dealing with various health issues like low energy, fatigue, hair loss, weight gain or weight loss resistance, and even more serious health conditions? The good news is that with self compassion you can embrace your body for what it does for you rather than just how it looks and appreciate the amazing gift that it is and make it your friend. When you value your body and actually honour it by listening to whatever messages it shares with you, you live a life that is fulfilling and even life saving. In this podcast episode, I share with you 5 ways you can start showing your body the compassion that it deserves.BONUS- I have added a 6 minute audio coaching exercise called "Befriend your body" to help coach you with how you can treat your body as a friend.I’m counting down the days until my brand new course launch and I can hardly WAIT! In this podcast episode, I share with you three ways in which you can plan for stillness. (This is taken from the book Stillness is the key by Ryan Holiday) I also share with you a guided visualisation using a pebble to help you access the inner stillness within yourself any time that you want.Stillness is available to all of us, at any time. Sadly, in today’s world of clatter and chatter, many of us end up feeling overwhelmed, stressed out and live with a chronic low level of anxiety. Having a practice of stillness is the solution to the stress of being connected via social media, internet 24X7. As social beings, we all need to be connected to other fellow human beings and to the rest of the world to feel that we are safe and to thrive. At the same time, we also need to find ways to spend some time in quiet calm, and balance, in order to reconnect with ourselves and feel replenished. The good news is that you can make stillness a part of your life by carving out time and space for it. Your morning is an important part of your self care routine and what you focus on can set the tone for the rest of your day. This means that if you focus only on what needs to get done or your busy schedule, you will start the day feeling stressed out even before you get up from bed!As the psychologist, Rick Hanson had said, “The brain is like Velcro for negative experiences and like Teflon for positive ones. ” This means that we are primed to look for bad news and makes it easy for us to become easily stressed by our emphasis on “what’s wrong” in our life. You need to practice training your mind towards the positive in order to overcome this negativity bias by actively looking for and seeing the good in your life- all the small and big moments in your life which bring joy, connection, and peace. Over time this will become a habit and help you to live a life that is more peaceful, content, and joyful. In this episode, I share with you 3 morning practices that will help you to practice gratitude and set a tone for the day, and help you to become more resilient and deal with whatever challenges come in your way.Gratitude for small wonders- GRATITUDE JOURNALLINGBody scan with gratitudeMorning cup of tea/coffee- a guided meditation"Creating a long term self care plan which fits into your daily routine"- an upcoming online workshop I am planning a couple of workshops on this topic on the 10th and 17th of April both of which are Saturdays (limited to 10 participants per session). What is self care really? How is self care tied to self-compassion and wellbeing? Most importantly, how do you find a version that works best for you so that you are most likely to continue with the routine especially when you are incredibly busy? There are many different ways that you can design your own self care routine. However, it all starts with the realisation that “YOU are the most important and worthwhile investment that you will make in your life”Once you assimilate this truth deep inside, you will find the will and the time to do what is needed. It all starts with this realisation as no one, not even your loved ones can do this part for you. In order to lead a productive and meaningful life you will need to put in some time to figure out the “self-investments” that will eventually pay off in the long run. Intentions set the stage for positive growth and change, because we’re making a choice to pay attention to something we deem worthy,” - Kristin WilsonAn intention exists behind every thought and action even if you are not aware of it. Intentions are like roadmaps that can guide you as you move through life if you choose to become aware of it. This is especially true if you are looking to make positive changes in your life and see the outcomes that you truly want. Whereas goals help you to understand where you want to go, setting intentions you become clear and focused on how you want to show up in your life. Both goals and intentions are important but play different roles in your life. To be more intentional in your daily life, ask yourself How can I show up today that is in line with what I want to achieve today? What do I want to see more of today? (good news, wonder, acts of kindness, joy)What routines do I want to establish? How do I want to feel? However, simply by setting an intention does not MAKE this happen, it simply ALLOWS you to be more present when circumstances and opportunities present themselves. Over time, you may find that it soon becomes a way of living.First thing in the morning is one of the best times to set an intention for that day or even for the entire week. Doing this practice first thing in the morning allows you to set a tone for the day. “To make a deep physical path, we must walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives”- Henry David ThoreauOur brains act like Velcro for bad news and like Teflon for good ones. This explains our “negativity bias” and why we are so inclined to look for and remember negative experiences over positive ones. In the previous lesson, you learned that you have the power to make different choices, to change what your future looks like. The conditions for happiness is already present inside of you. As the Zen master and teacher Thich Nhat Hanh says, you will have to find a way to “water the good seeds of positivity”. But creating more positivity in your life is not simply a matter of wishful thinking or good intentions. You will need to learn to prime your mind and alter the patterns by choosing activities that help to keep reinforcing it. In this episode I share with you a story about two wolves. If this is something that you find that is useful for you and you need to work on to see more of POSITIVITY in your life then register for the upcoming membership programme called "Peaceful Mind, Healthy Body". Despite our best intentions, things go wrong- relationships fail, our loved ones die, we develop health problems, financial issues crop up. No matter how much we try to avoid it, pain follows us everywhere."This isn't what I wanted, but this is what I got"While pain is not optional, suffering usually is. And struggling with anything to make it other than what it actually is, creates this suffering. This means that we need to understand and accept that what we do matters, but we are not really in charge. This is key to dealing with our struggles in a new and healthier way. Suffering results from struggling with what is beyond our control. In the last part of this podcast episode, I take you through a journaling exercise to help you get to know yourself better and understand your own value and worth as a person. As you do so you will find that you no longer depend on external approvals, circumstances and accomplishments to determine your own sense of self worth. This is the starting point of your journey towards dealing with your struggles in a healthier and more effective manner. This journey is exactly what I have in mind for mothers like you inside of my membership "PEACEFUL MIND, HEALTHY BODY" that I am looking to launch in September 2020. I will be sharing more details about that!If you liked this podcast episode, please leave a REVIEW iTunes. This podcast episode is slightly different. This episode is about changing the world one person at a time. In this episode I share with you my VISION- creating a community for moms like you where you and I can show up simply be ourselves. In this community, I am creating a space where we can all support, encourage and motivate each other not because we are broken and need to be fixed, but because sometimes we need a reminder of our wholeness. The beautiful part is that a community like this creates a ripple effect in your family, your social circle and radiates outward to the rest of the world in a positive manner. I am forming this community in the form of a membership called "PEACEFUL MIND, HEALTHY BODY". This community will provide a step-by-step guide and a pathway to a better way of living- one in which you feel empowered, motivated and in tune with yourself so that you start living the life that YOU want, on your own terms! The Founding Member launch closed recently and the formal launch will take place in September (will be sharing more on that in the coming weeks). Before the launch of this membership, I had also hosted a 5 day FB Challenge cum training last week called "Making time for what matters most". “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” “That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.”- Alice in WonderlandKnowing where you want to go is the first and most important step in getting there. However for too many of us, we are so “busy”, we often do not stop to question whether we are travelling in the right direction. Our TO-DO lists get filled with never ending tasks which tend to overwhelm us and make us feel like failures for not getting them done. If you are doing more of what is “urgent” rather than what is “important”, then you may need to rethink how you are choosing to spend your time. Too often we need some sort of a crisis to show us what we should have paid attention to when we had the chance. I share with you a story "Rocks, pebbles and sand" in this episode which is a lesson about scheduling our priorities.Once you have decided what you need to focus on and scheduled it in your calendar. you need to honour the commitment you made to yourself. Because often when we do not see the results in our lives, it is not that we are not capable, we are too busy, do not have the right kind of support or do not have what it takes to turn our dreams into reality. It may simply be that we are not honouring the commitments that we made to ourself and this depends on the kind of relationship that we have with ourselves. If you find yourself struggling to do this, you need to ask yourself this questionAre you willing to keep your word to yourself? Do you...let yourself enjoy the good moments in your life? have friends who know how to enjoy themselves and do you spend time with them often?let yourself laugh out loud when you are happy?take the time to truly slow down and relish a good meal regularly?let yourself enjoy a compliment? Our brain is hardwired due to evolution to look for danger and typically we tend to focus much more on what’s wrong than on what’s right in our lives. The psychological term for this is negativity bias. Savouring is a way of increasing our resiliency to cope with the challenges in our lives. Savouring refers to ”the capacity to attend to, appreciate and enhance the positive experiences in one’s life”. What if you could alter our way of looking at your life? What if you realised that life owes you nothing? Most importantly, what if you realised that what you have is a actually a GIFT and cannot be taken for granted? Changing the way you look at life can go a long way in increasing joy and happiness in your life. There are many different ways of doing this and in this week’s podcast episode, I am going to share with 3 ways of changing the way you look at life by training your mind to look for the good. After all, a GRATEFUL HEART IS A JOYFUL HEART. I am going to end this episode with a guided meditation that you can use to notice and appreciate the little things in your life.-The FIRST way that you can awaken gratitude in your life is by changing ONE word - The SECOND way is with the help of a "GRATITUDE ROCK OR PEBBLE"- The THIRD and one of the most effective ways is by keeping a GRATITUDE JOURNAL If you liked this episode, you can sign up to receive the new episodes every week at aninditarungta.com/podcast
Many of us spend the majority of our lives trying to control our external circumstances, other people like the neighbours, family members and friends, the government and even the universe. What they fail to realise that it is a colossal waste of energy and time in the best of times. In a time like this where there are so many things that are out of control, it can really be an extremely challenging time for such people. However, you can learn to retrain your mind so that YOU get to choose where to spend your energy and effort on. You get to decide what is important to you and what is not. That way you do not expend your energy and your time on which you have no control over anyway! You can learn to focus on the things that you can and should control in a way that serves you. These are your thoughts, feelings, action and behaviour. What I find is that many people struggle to let go of this need to control what they cannot. Letting go does not mean losing the knowledge we have gained from the past. The knowledge of the past stays with us. You simply choose to let go of what does not serve you so that you can focus on what really matters. This particular episode will guide you to use your imagination as you visualise clouds floating in the sky as a way of letting go. You use your breath to set it free...there is no resistance, just a sense of peace. If you liked this episode, you can sign up to receive the new episodes every week at aninditarungta.com/podcast

If you are struggling to focus on what is right for your body in these challenging times in terms of food or exercise, focus on your work or even be more present with your family, then practice setting an intention.First thing in the morning is one of the best times to set an intention for that day or even for the entire week. Doing this practice first thing in the morning allows you to set a tone for the day.Find out what your intention is.The questions below can help you bring some clarity as you think about your activities for the day-How can I show up today that is in line with what I want to achieve today? What do I want to see more of today? (good news, wonder, acts of kindness, joy)What is my heart's desire at this moment? How do I want to feel?Setting an intention is a conscious practice which needs to be repeated regularly so that you can start seeing the fruits of your efforts. What are you really hungry for?We often reach for food when we are trying to fill some sort of a gap within our selves. Whether it is to alleviate our boredom of being stuck at home, to comfort ourselves as we grapple with stress and worry or as a way of rewarding ourselves, we use food in many different ways. Unfortunately, not all of these are good for us. The question you need to ask yourself when you find yourself reaching for a snack in between meals or craving for a certain kind of food is thisWHAT DO I NEED RIGHT NOW? FOOD? WATER? ANYTHING ELSE?HOW AM I FEELING AT THIS MOMENT? UPSET? FRUSTRATED? DISAPPOINTED?ON A SCALE OF 1 TO 10, HOW HUNGRY AM I?You can use this episode to build a better relationship with food and become more aware of how you feel after eating so that you can start making better choices. You will need a single piece of raisin (or any dried berry or a small piece of chocolate) for this guided meditation. It becomes easier to weather the storms in our life if we are able to accept that the changing weather conditions are an inevitable part of life. We need to learn to accept the fact that what we are facing right now in terms of our struggles, worry, anxiety due to a situation that is beyond our control is a function of our being alive and is in fact quite normal. If we can do this, we will find that we are able access our inner reserves and calm that is needed to deal with this situation.
