The ExpatCast is the podcast where expats share stories about fitting in, standing out, and every mishap on their journey to feeling at home abroad.
The Expat Cast is an incredible podcast that delves into the experiences and challenges of living abroad as an expat. Hosted by Nicole, the show covers a wide range of topics, from relationships to language learning, and everything in between. Nicole provides a light-hearted and humorous take on the ups and downs of expat life, making for an entertaining and informative listening experience.
One of the best aspects of The Expat Cast is Nicole's honesty and authenticity. She shares her own personal experiences and openly discusses both the good times and the struggles of living abroad. This level of transparency allows listeners to feel a connection with her and gain valuable insights into what it's really like to be an expat. Additionally, Nicole's enthusiasm for making the podcast shines through in every episode, creating a positive and engaging atmosphere.
Another great aspect of this podcast is the diversity of guests that Nicole interviews. She regularly features expats from all over the world who have made Germany their home. This provides listeners with a broad range of perspectives and experiences, allowing them to learn from others who have faced similar challenges or navigated different cultures. The interviews are well-conducted, with Nicole skillfully drawing out her guests' stories and wisdom.
As for drawbacks, it's difficult to find many negatives about The Expat Cast. Some listeners may prefer more structured or focused episodes rather than the conversational style that Nicole employs. However, this is largely a matter of personal preference, as many listeners appreciate the relaxed and casual nature of the show.
In conclusion, The Expat Cast is an outstanding podcast that offers valuable insights into the expat experience. Whether you're already living abroad or considering making the move, this podcast provides a wealth of knowledge and relatable stories that will resonate with listeners. Nicole's enthusiasm, humor, and ability to connect with her guests make for a truly enjoyable listening experience. I highly recommend The Expat Cast to anyone interested in learning more about cross-cultural perspectives and the adventures of living as an expat abroad.

Season 6, Episode 14. Moving abroad ain't easy. Now imagine moving to Germany having never been in Europe before. Speaking no word of German. With four kids. In the middle of a pandemic. And the house you move into gets flooded in a catastrophic regional weather disaster. That's what happened to Sara. She and her husband and their four young kids moved to Rheinbach for her husband's job, developing vegan cheese. They envisioned it as an exciting adventure and a great opportunity for everyone - and while it has been all the things they dreamed of, nothing has quite happened as they planned, as their new home is smack dab in the region that got horribly flooded in summer 2021. Season 6, Episode 13. The best thing about Christmas in the US is the cheesy Christmas movies on Lifetime, Hallmark, and now even Netflix. Aspen & Nicole are two Americans in Germany who love trash movies, so we asked ourselves, do these wonderful-terrible movies exist in Germany? To find out, we watched Über Weihnachten and This Is Love. Both are German productions released on Netflix that try to itch that same scratch - or dare I say jingle those bells. How do these two movies stand up to the test? Are they good-bad, or just bad-bad? Merry Christmas & guten Rutsch / good slide into the New Year! The Expat Cast will be back January 6, 2022. Season 6, Episode 8. Let's talk about how to get mental health support when living abroad. One great thing about living in Germany is the health care - for many reasons, but notably, most public health insurances cover mental health therapy. It's a wonderful thing, but like all things in Germany, there is a lot of paperwork and bureaucracy required to find a therapist, get the therapy approved, and start the actual process. Today's guest, Julian, is from Venezuela and has been living in Germany for 5 years. In 2020, he hit a point where he needed help. He began his journey to find a therapist in his current home, Berlin. He shares why he decided to seek therapy and why it has been so valuable, over a year later. Most importantly, we get into HOW to seek therapy, from where to research doctors to who needs to sign off on the treatment and more. This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. If your insurance doesn't cover therapy or you'd prefer to have more options when choosing your therapist, BetterHelp is a fantastic alternative to going through the German healthcare system.
