This is our final Season 1 Replay.  Season 2 will begin October 10, 2023 with a brand new Believe Big Podcast episode.Dr. Dagmara Beine is not only an amazing practitioner, but she truly understands what a family goes through as her daughter Zuza was diagnosed with cancer AND given a very poor prognosis at 3 ½ years old. Having worked in emergency medicine for 12 years, Dagmara understood the value of western medicine and how it could save her daughter's life. However, as her daughter moved through her treatment and recovery, she was shocked at how western medicine failed to care for Zuza as a whole person. She knew as a mother and clinician that she needed to incorporate other tools to guide Zuza through treatment and help her thrive as a cancer survivor. Zuza moved from her home country of the Czech Republic to go to Sweden. Sweden led to Uganda, which led to Italy, which led to Zambia, which led to Mongolia, and along the way, she's had her own experience with intercultural relationships. Now, she's chosen to stay put in Zambia, and she's turning her experience into resources by becoming an intercultural relationship coach. Zuza Ferenczová is a part-time potter and part-time scriptwriter from Slovakia, Europe. Zuza has a small garden studio where she makes small batches of hand-built pottery. Recently Zuza has founded a nonprofit organization called Ruky v hline, dedicated to organize educational activities for kids and adults in the field of pottery. Zuz  has just been accepted for a PhD program in Film and Television studies as well.

episode 118 Emergency Episode: Cook For Ukraine An Opportunity Presented by Zuza Zak Introduction Welcome listeners to a special, unanticipated episode of The Storied Recipe podcast. I had an episode planned for release yesterday, but in light of the horrific current events in Ukraine, my guest preferred to postpone the release. I do thank M. Aimee of Milk of Thy Kindness for her sensitivity during this time. In the meantime, several months ago, I had scheduled an interview with Zuza Zak for this Friday. Zuza was born and raised in Poland until the age of 8 under the oppressive communist regime of the former USSR. She has written two cookbooks (Polska and Amber & Rye) that double as memoirs and love letters to her country. As things have gone from bad to worse in Ukraine this month, several prominent members of the cooking community (links below) have organized a massive fundraiser titled Bake for Ukraine. They immediately pulled Zuza on board. Dr. Dagmara Beine is not only an amazing practitioner, but she truly understands what a family goes through as her daughter Zuza was diagnosed with cancer AND given a very poor prognosis at 3 ½ years old. Having worked in emergency medicine for 12 years, Dagmara understood the value of western medicine and how it could save her daughter's life. However, as her daughter moved through her treatment and recovery, she was shocked at how western medicine failed to care for Zuza as a whole person. She knew as a mother and clinician that she needed to incorporate other tools to guide Zuza through treatment and help her thrive as a cancer survivor.
