We tackle a topic that's often judged or ignored in women's circles: it's okay to not want to be a mom. Society places enormous pressure on women to have children, but nearly half of childless adults in America say they never want kids – and that number is growing.• Jess's sister knew early on that motherhood wasn't for her, though she's a loving aunt and nurturing in other ways• Steph shares her personal experience of never wanting children, even from a young age• Recent Pew Research shows 47% of childless adults don't expect to have children, up 10% since 2018• We explore how women often judge other women for choosing not to have children• Many women nurture through other means - mentoring, creativity, supporting community• Discussion of the tension between those struggling with infertility and those choosing to remain childless• Support for women navigating pregnancy decisions through resource centers and church ministries• Recognition that everyone's journey is different and deserves respectWhether you're a mom, an auntie, a teacher, a friend, or simply you – your identity is not limited to motherhood.
In this episode, I'm talking to the women who want kids but need a reminder to take their time. Because, girl, before you let family, friends, or Instagram guilt you into rushing this season of your life, I need you to remember a few things: You have time. You don't have to settle. And there's a whole world waiting for you outside the four walls of your home and your comfort zone. For my books and coaching program click here: Mother's Day Special
Deciding whether or not to have kids is a tough decision to make and this isn't spoken about openly enough. For me, I always wanted and assumed I would one day have kids and I just happened to wait long enough to where I knew a lot more about the world, and I really enjoyed my life. Things are peaceful for me and my husband in our mid-30s- something we didn't really have in childhood so we've been really struggling to choose 100% yes or no to this. Heads up: I mention abortion in this episode. While it might be clear from listening to this episode that I have way more reasons to NOT want kids than to say yes, it's still really difficult to make that permanent decision. This is me vulnerably reading out my list of reasons to not have kids both because I know there's at least one other person that will benefit from hearing this and because I just don't want to think about this anymore. For me, it feels like I still have time at 35 so I'm going to stop obsessing and will revisit this decision sometime after I turn 36.Conversations like this don't happen often enough and it's still considered by a lot of people a taboo to not have kids. But the most important thing is that you are making a choice that YOU would be happy with in your life. Thanks for reading this and I hope you enjoy the episode! Why do so many couples get divorced within the first two years of their child's birth? And why is the birth rate declining globally? There are likely a multitude of factors, but over the past week, one man exposed a key one: too many men cheat during the postpartum period. Friday Night Live 4 October 2024In this episode, I examine the complexities of the modern dating landscape, discussing societal expectations and personal choices that impact our search for meaningful relationships. Responding to listener feedback, we tackle frustrations with the dating market, emphasizing the need for introspection about personal standards and societal norms. We explore the balance between desire and practicality, especially regarding age-appropriate dating and the implications of wanting children. The conversation also addresses the "trad wife" trend, highlighting cultural narratives that influence relationship dynamics. Ultimately, I stress the importance of personal accountability and the value of open dialogue in navigating the challenges of connection.GET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free! Also get the Truth About the French Revolution, multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material, as well as targeted AIs for Real-Time Relationships, BitCoin, Peaceful Parenting, and over 100 Call-Ins. In this episode, I investigate the impact of parenting on a child's desire for family, challenging the belief that this inclination is a reliable indicator of upbringing. I argue that even well-raised individuals may choose not to become parents, highlighting a moral obligation to continue our lineage rooted in historical struggles.I explore the influence of modern comforts on parenthood decisions and suggest that contemporary concerns often stem from a reluctance to confront life's realities. Key indicators of a well-raised child include their ability to engage meaningfully with others, which reflects their upbringing.Throughout the discussion, I emphasize the importance of dismantling adult-child hierarchies to foster open communication. Ultimately, I stress parents' responsibility to empower their children and hope this conversation inspires listeners to reflect on their values regarding family and personal choices within society.GET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free! Also get the Truth About the French Revolution, the interactive multi-lingual philosophy AI trained on thousands of hours of my material, private livestreams, premium call in shows, the 22 Part History of Philosophers series and much more!See you soon!https://freedomain.locals.com/support/promo/UPB2022
