Sometimes the full truth stings and the half-truth feels good. This episode addresses the way that lies can sneak into our minds from seemingly trustworthy sources to tell us something our hearts desire to believe, even if it doesn't line up with God's Word. The lyrics from the song "Crazy About You" by Tauren Wells are discussed in light of God's truth from both the Old and New Testaments. Specifically discussed is the idea that God has never been mad at you, a declaration made in the song, but contradicted by the Bible; His wrath arises for both his own people and those that oppose him. The truth of this song is that God loves us greatly. However, the true love of God also corrects and convicts- and can come with expressions of emotions that are appropriate in such circumstances. That true love means guiding us to turn from our sin and towards our God who saves. In the story of the Exodus in the Old Testament, the Word shows us how God's people were living in the land of Goshen. Although Goshen served a purpose for a time, it was never the plan of God for the children of Israel to remain there permanently - there was a much better land of Promise to which He would take them. As spiritual descendants of these people, we cannot become complacent in our "Goshen," but we must press forward into the place God has prepared for us. 01/25/2024 - Thursday NightScriptures Used (In Order of Occurrence):Exodus 14:10-14Exodus 1:12Exodus 12:51Exodus 13:17-18

Colossians 3:1-14Exodus 7:1-7Today's sermon looks at two questions about recurring issues in the Exodus narrative. First, why does God seem so intent on Pharaoh being the one who actually free the Israelites? Second, if Pharaoh is the one to free the Israelites, why does God harden Pharaoh's heart to prevent Pharaoh from doing just that? Along the way we discuss the Egyptian and ancient mindset as shaped by polytheism. We conclude by applying these lessons to the powerful forces that shape our own life.
God has already supplied the church with all of the tools needed for victory. What He wants to do with our lives is greater than anything we could ever imagine. This means that only faith in God and active obedience to His Word will allow us to see His plan fulfilled. 09/07/2023 - Thursday NightScriptures Used (In Order of Occurrence):Exodus 4:1-5Exodus 3:4-10, 14Exodus 4:14-17

Pastor Sean leads us through the Exodus story and explains how God's power is not displayed by delivering us to comfort, but delivering us through challenge. Live Teaching Podcast Scriptures & References Exodus: 5: 1-3Exodus 13:1 7-18Exodus 14: 4-14Exodus 15: 1-5, 19-20“The passage can be read two ways. The first is that what happened was a suspension of the laws of nature. It was a supernatural event. The waters stood, literally, like a wall. The second is that what happened was miraculous not because the laws of nature were suspended. To the contrary, as the computer simulation shows, the exposure of dry land at a particular point in the Red Sea was a natural outcome of the strong east wind. What made it miraculous is that it happened just there, just then, when the Israelites seemed trapped, unable to go forward because of the sea, unable to turn back because of the Egyptian army pursuing them. There is a significant difference between these two interpretations. The first appeals to our sense of wonder. How extraordinary that the laws of nature should be suspended to allow an escaping people to go free. It is a story to appeal to the imagination of a child. But the naturalistic explanation is wondrous at another level entirely. Here the Torah is using the device of irony. What made the Egyptians of the time of Ramses so formidable was the fact that they possessed the latest and most powerful form of military technology, the horse drawn chariot. It made them unbeatable in battle, and fearsome. What happens at the sea is poetic justice of the most exquisite kind. There is only one circumstance in which a group of people traveling by foot can escape a highly trained army of charioteers, namely when the route passes through a muddy sea bed. The people can walk across, but the chariot wheels get stuck in the mud. The Egyptian army can neither advance nor retreat. The wind drops. The water returns. The powerful are now powerless, while the powerless have made their way to freedom.” — Jonathan Sacks, Covenant and ConversationReflection“God is going to lead you, he's not going to force you,” suggests Pastor Sean. When Jacob went up from Shechem to Bethel, he knew there were some things he would have to leave behind. There are things in our lives that we have to bury if we want everything God has for us. We must have an attitude of willingness to sacrifice anything to be saved.06/12/2022 - Sunday NightScriptures Used (In Order of Occurrence):Genesis 35:1-4Genesis 12:1-3Genesis 28:13-14Exodus 32:20I Corinthians 6:19-20I Peter 3:3-4II Corinthians 6:17Hebrews 12:14

A prayer and meditation on fighting fear with faith. In humility, let us approach the Almighty God and bow to his sovereignty, choosing to fear Him instead of the world. When we see Jesus and His works lighting up everything around us, we can take courage and strength to face our fears in this fallen world.www.incense-ptl.comeric@incense-ptl.comTexts:Revelation 5:1-14Exodus 20: 18-20Isaiah 41:10,13Isaiah 43:1-3aPsalm 84:11aLuke 2:8-14Tracks:"Woven" by Alice in Winter"Music Box" by Stephen Keech"In the Middle" by Four Trees"Pines" by Be Still the Earth

What is that one thing that you pray for when going through a trial or dealing with a situation or person that just seems to test your limits?PATIENCE!It seems like everyone is in a hurry everywhere you look. If you are like me, you want to have an answer or solution to any problem that may arise. And if you don't, you want to find it as quickly as possible. How many times have you gone to YouTube to find a video to fix a problem with an appliance, vehicle or electronic device? Maybe you went to Google to search a question of how or why this problem is happening? We are in a day and time now that everything is at a speed that we expect what we want to come in quick and timely manner. We are living in a fast food, microwave, and amazon time that if we don't get it our way in 5 minutes, 30 minutes or next day delivery, we get frustrated that it isn't here fast enough. You may be going through a trial and you have prayed and it feels like God hasn't answered your prayer. Maybe His answer was “Not at this Time, WAIT.”Most of us, including myself hate to hear that word, “WAIT”Look at some of the saints in the Bible, like Abraham and Sarah; Joseph, Moses, David and Noah that had to wait years to see the fulfillment of God's promise given to them. What does “be still” mean?It means to stand respectfully motionless, halt, quiet, calm, tranquil, devoid of motion.Waiting means to await, hope, be patient, look forward to and tarry.God wants that for us in that when we wait in faith we are expressing our confidence in Him, even in those times of trial and uncertainty. Especially if we have a feeling of urgency. Many times we want to rush and find a solution, which isn't always a bad thing, but there are times that God wants us to stop and rest and put our faith and dependence on Him and know that He will provide and make a way, when all else seems hopeless.God is wanting us to “Be Still” and listen to Him. Just as He told Elijah on the mountain. God wasn't in the wind, the earthquake or fire, but in a still small voice. So many times we get caught up in our daily lives and activities that we don't take the time to listen to what God has for us each and every day. Whether it is first thing in the morning or at night before you go to bed you need to take that time to stop and listen to what God is saying to You. We get caught up with things that become like static noise and can be so overpowering that we can't focus or hear what God is wanting to show us. So take that time as you thank Him each day for what He has done or is doing in your life, even if is seems like you are going through that valley or wilderness and feels like there is no hope or help in sight; but that in those times God is taking you to a place to stop and rest and put you complete faith and trust in Him.Scripture references:Psalms 46:10Psalms 40:1-3Psalms 37:7,9,34Psalms 27;14Exodus 14:13Isaiah 8:17Isaiah 30:18Isaiah 40:31Matthew 11:28James 1:2-4James 5:7-8The Small Church Media PodcastThere are many podcasts for church media, but this one is for the small churches!Listen on: Apple Podcasts Spotify
