Second verse – same as the first. In the early 1970s, legendary collaborator and self-proclaimed non-musician Brian Eno famously designed a deck of 115 cards containing elliptical imperatives to spark in the user creative connections unobtainable through regular modes of work. He called his creation "Oblique Strategies." For nearly one half of a century, countless artists and professionals across the globe have benefited from utilizing the oblique strategies technique when attempting to overcome a lull in creative output. In 2021, idiot basement-dwelling hobby podcasters and self-proclaimed Lightnin' Lickers Jay and Deon found themselves uninspired when contemplating the potential themes of their upcoming eighteenth episode. Together, they decided... to default back to the alphabet. Because they knew the alphabet pretty good. They already used the letter A. So they proceeded to the letter B. Genius is as genius does. Mixtape brought to you by the number 33-1/3, the color blue, and the letter B: [SIDE B1] (1) Eric Burden & War – Gun (2) Belfegore – All I Wanted (3) Big Grams featuring Run The Jewels – Born To Shine (4) The Bluebells – I'm Falling (5) Baby Charles – Invisible [SIDE B2] (1) Beats International – Tribute To King Tubby (2) Blue In Heaven – Rolling In The Crowd (3) Brick – Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody (4) Betty Boo – Boo Is Boomin' (5) Bon Iver – Blood Bank (live) Additional (non-mix) sonic contributions to episode 18 of Lightnin' Licks Radio podcast include: Lee Moses / Brothers Johnson / Holland-Dozier-Holland / L.L. In this episode, Laura Escudé takes us on her journey from violinist to adventures in Los Angeles as a seat filler for TV shows from Craig's list to market research to other one-off jobs. . . until she becomes a tech support staffer at M-Audio because of problems she had with her own keyboard.  For listeners who are inspired by linear journeys, this is not one.  Instead, Laura was launched from being laid off as the first Ableton Certified Trainer.  An email got her working for Cirque du Soleil in playback.  A phone call from all of her Ableton visibility brought her to Kanye West's audio engineer and then years of touring.  Until it wasn't -- and she shares the story of how in 2017 she rebuilt her career about teaching and inspiration in audio engineering around “transmuting” creators - “to move from one form of energy into another.”  Enjoy her story of building a global community of artists and creating new online programs ahead of the current virtual learning world.  And enjoy her stories of what she now has built with the Transmute Accelerator and Transmute Academy. Photo credit: Nicholas James Guest: Laura Escudé (fka ALLUXE), Future Classical artist blending music, tech, and consciousness Laura Escudé is the creator of The Transmute™ Accelerator, Founder of Electronic Creatives, and an Ableton Certified Trainer since 2008. Career highlights include performing in the GRAMMY Premiere band, programming and designing shows for Kanye West from 2009-2017, opening for Miguel on his 2015 Wildheart tour, and building a thriving international business populated by top-tier professionals.  She's done official remixes for artists, including M83 and Poliça, with her violin playing featured on albums by Big Grams, Kanye West, Jay Z, and many more.  She's released myriad albums, singles, and EPs under the name ALLUXE, synthesizing her skills as a classically trained violinist and her prowess as an avant-garde electronic producer. Now making music under her own name, Escudé released the Transmute EP, her most intimate work to date, capturing the sound and feel of a woman who's examined the darkest parts of herself and come out the other end transformed.  Technology is a second language for Escudé, who became the world's first Ableton Certified Trainer in 2008. In 2012, she founded Electronic Creatives, using her skills to hire and train programmers and playback engineers for artists including Logic, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Big Sean, Charli XCX, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.  She's brought massive productions to life for artists including Kanye West, Jay Z, Bon Iver, Missy Elliot, Herbie Hancock, and television megabrand American Idol. Escudé toured extensively with these shows, collaborating with artists to create fresh, thrilling experiences for audiences worldwide. Intro :– TAGi feat. Sly Johnson : Oops ! Oh My2. Mix Zo aka La Chauve Souris :Playlist non communiquée.3. This week's radio show breakdown (by minutes/hours): 0:00 - 1:43:53 Introduction & Extended Commentary 1:43:54 - 3:07:07 DJ Fusion Music Mix Our commentary this week touched base on the latest terrible mass shooting in San Bernadino, CA and the rampant Islamophobia & complete hypocritical nonsense behaviors that has come from it (via the mainstream masses, mainstream media, law enforcement and our current presidential candidates), the embarrassment that is the “Stump for Trump Girls” for Black folks in the U.S., the long term pattern of corruption in the Chicago P.D. being exposed via the killing of Laquan McDonald, the lack of media coverage of the Daniel Holtzclaw case, a mini-movie review of “Creed”, Internet Idiots having a fit about “The Wiz Live” being full of Black people being awesome, DJ Fusion having a fangirl moment about the new AMC TV series “Into The Badlands” and some other things here and there. There is no brand new Black Agenda Report news mini-segment on this week's episode due to our extended commentary. Slighted dated episode, but still relevant, since we're hitting up the AL West! Brent threatens to withdraw all his money from the Phillies directly if they re-hire Pete Mackanin (which happened later that day.) AL West Crown comes down to a terrible texas tumble, with the Texas (Dallas) Rangers vs the Houston Astros. Astros are a young team being overtaken by a team of veterans in the Rangers. Metaphor for Texas of old gruff marlboro men vs space age rockets? Angels of Anaheim (Los Angeles, too) with men of Trout, Trout, Trout. Seattle still has a baseball team or has Robinson Cano sunk the entire city? Oakland Athletics has sunk to the bottom of the Coco Crisp cereal bowl. Billy Beane, overrated? And some other topics like Matt Harvey, NFL, hot topics (Sabermetrics as management philosophy? Vin Scully, Rube Waddell), Brent likes the Jets over the Eagles. Draft Kings, not sponsoring us, so we debate the merits of how annoying they are vs gambling joy.
