Montreal-based saxophonist and composer Christine Jensen has been described as, “an original voice on the international jazz scene… [and] one of Canada's most compelling composers,” by Mark Miller of the Globe and Mail. According to Greg Buium of Downbeat Magazine, “Jensen writes in three dimensions, with a quiet kind of authority that makes the many elements cohere. Wayne Shorter, Maria Schneider and Kenny Wheeler come to mind.” After a performance at the 2006 Montreal International Jazz Festival, Scott Yanow wrote, “She's rapidly developing into a major force … as a player and as a writer.”Jensen is equally at home performing in small and large ensemble settings. Her latest opus, Treelines - The Christine Jensen Jazz Orchestra on Justin-Time Records, won her the 2011 Juno Award for Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year, along with Quebec's Opus Award for jazz recording of the year. Downbeat magazine described it as“…a stunning orchestral debut… ****1/2 stars”. She recently performed at various jazz festivals across Canada as well as at Dizzy's Jazz Club-Lincoln Center in New York with this ensemble. “Jensen's formidable orchestra is the glistening sunlight, the tranquility and force of the ocean, and the majestic trees that her music imagines.”-Jazz TimesSupport the show

Christine Jensen brought 15 years of experience working at corporations including eBay and Johnson Controls to Cloudflare last August when the fast-growing cloud platform and cybersecurity company hired her to run treasury. To build a top-notch treasury team, she's drawing on best practices and perspective learned at other corporates in the US and abroad, her proven ability to thrive under pressure (she's a three-time Illinois high school state tennis champion) and her determination to make treasury a true strategic partner at Cloudflare. Ms. Jensen discusses with NeuGroup Insights editor Antony Michels how her experiences working at large companies help her meet the challenges and opportunities facing a high-growth tech firm that went public in 2019; why cryptocurrency may represent an important opportunity for some treasury teams; key areas where treasury can add significant strategic value; and one vital skill that some top tennis players may need to develop to win big in the business world.

This album called "Habitat" won the 2014 Juno Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble. The band consists of the cream of the crop of Montreal based players and is a very large group of over 20 pieces. Christine's compositions reflect her studies and influences of Maria Schneider, Gil Evans and Bob Brookmeyer. The music is six compositions that can be listened to as a continuous suite or as individual moods. All in all a deep and wonderful sonic pleasure.
