The title is a question Bobz asks Chad towards the end of the episode. He's in fine form. A loose unit you could say. Along with the questionable jokes/statements [that are the thoughts and opinions of one man and not those of Cheers Big Ears & Ginja Ninja Studio... even though he is both those things], they try and catch you up in 5 and introduce some new segments to the show. Like I said, he's in fine form this week and he's the one writing this. Cheers.
And with that, the hosts crawled from their cave, out into the light and sat down in front of the mics to dribble on about an Earthquake, Farts, ear-fingering, and stop in at the Trailer Park for The Fantastic Four, Predator: Badlands & I know what you did last summer.Rejoice for they have risen! Few events embody the act of listening and receiving quite like the Big Ears Festival, which happens every spring in Knoxville, Tennessee. Nate was there this year, conducting artist interviews and taking in as much music as he could handle. He reports back with some highlights, and shares an interview he conducted just before heading down — with trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith and pianist Vijay Iyer, who have a new duo album, Defiant Life, and performed together at Big Ears. Their ideal of spontaneous creative communion, and engagement with the state of the world, feels right on time. Did you ask for an update on Chad's Man Crush List? No... well, that's tough, because that's what you're getting along with Chad and Bobz's thoughts on the US "Influencer" and the baby wombat, Footy tipping results, the Richmond wardrobe malfunction, and more Footy talk. It's probably too much Footy talk. But wait...there's more! To finish, we swap Football codes and give our Top 5 Players from the NRL (Bobz) and the AFL (Chad). This was a fun one. With Amorim's divisive words in his presser, we evaluate the choices Rashford has in front of him. We also take a look at the fire at the Etihad that thwarted the team's planned player unveiling, was it a portent of things to come? On the field we get into the magical run that Bournemouth are putting on, laying waste to the most in-form teams in the league. With their next meeting against Liverpool, could that be the cherry on top for the rest of the league? Especially with Arsenal squaring off against City. We talk the tough decision facing Spurs with their leadership and finish it off with the amazing story Esse gets to tell his grandkids. It's a loaded baked potato of an episode so grab a fork and plug us into your ear holes.
And with that, the 2024 season comes to an end! The Chad and Matt (and Bobz in the background) discuss the Superman trailer, their favourite moments of the year, and their goals for 2025. There is some other stuff...I'm sure of it. Bring on 2025!
HO! HO! HO! Bobz is back for this Very Cheers Big Ears Christmas episode, we recap our Good Things experience, make and try some alcoholic eggnog, read some submitted Xmas rituals and Chad reads a Chrissy poem. Merry Christmas, everyone!

100 episodes. Wow. It sure took its time getting here. And of course, the 100th didn't go as planned, but it was a bloody fun time to record. For probably the first time the episode was recorded on the day of release, that's pretty cool. Chad & Bobz are back and Matt-less with this better late than never episode. They talk podcast guesting, a mad dash back to Perth, Cobra Kai, and Summer Heat, and then they review the film adaptation of Wicked!
The episode's title spoils it, but rejoice—he has returned to the pod! Matt's back. They catch up and dive head-first (soberly) into a whole bunch of topics from Tyson v Paul, Merch, updated Man Crush lists, Bonnie Blue, Movies and Animals - Favourites & Sexiest with an appearance by Bobz! Apple has gotten used to being a favorite target of rivals and government agencies. The company has been repeatedly scrutinized by regulators, and other tech companies have accused the company of anticompetitive practices. Apple's most recent legal challenge is a doozy: an antitrust lawsuit filed by the US Department of Justice and more than a dozen state attorneys general. The suit takes aim at the security and privacy features offered only on the iPhone, and accuses Apple of using that exclusivity to lock consumers into its ecosystem. At the center of the suit is the lack of true cross-platform encryption on Apple's messaging platform—the green bubble-blue bubble divide—which the government alleges harms consumers by leaving them more vulnerable to attacks. This week on Gadget Lab, we talk with WIRED senior security editor Andrew Couts about the encryption and privacy issues behind the DOJ's suit against Apple, and how the dreaded green bubbles on iMessage factor in.Show Notes:Read Andrew and Andy Greenberg's WIRED story about how the DOJ is targeting Apple's iMessage encryption. No parent wants to have to tell their children that they have cancer, but how are you supposed to have those conversations in productive, informative, and healthy ways with your children who may differ greatly in age and development? How do we not screw them up?! Thankfully, we have Jane Irvine MA, LPC, NCC with us this week to discuss having these difficult conversations with your kiddos. Dr. Irivine walks us through how children process difficult news at different ages, how their processing can come across to adults, how to maintain your bond with your children through surgeries and physical changes, and how to engage the entire family unit to grow through change rather than be torn apart by it. Join us this week for a candid, straightforward, and surprisingly touching conversation about our favorite people (our kids) during our least favorite time (cancer).
