Everyone online seems to be telling you to create a course, launch a membership, or build passive income. But what if that's actually the wrong place to start? In Day 2 of Summer Business School, we're answering one of the most important questions every entrepreneur faces: Which income stream should you build first? In today's class, I'm sharing The Income Stream Ladder™, a simple framework that helps you build your business in the right order so you can make money faster, learn from real clients, and create offers people actually want. I've been in this game since 2011. I've seen the trends come and go, from the early days of blogging to the rise of TikTok. And for a long time, I fell into the same trap many of you are in right now: I thought more posts = more progress. I was working through naps, obsessing over my business on weekends, and trying to be everywhere at once. But my client list wasn't moving. The truth? It wasn't my effort that was the problem—it was my focus. If you're a mom trying to build something meaningful in 15-minute pockets of time, you don't need a bigger, louder strategy. You need a simpler one. In today's episode of The Classy Career Girl Podcast, I'm getting honest about the 4 marketing mistakes I made and how I finally shifted from "just posting" to actually solving problems and building connections. We're diving into: Why "content" doesn't bring clients (but conversations do). The myth of "feeling ready" before you take action. How to stop making marketing about you and start making it about them. My 15-minute rhythm for finding your first (or next) client. You don't need hours of uninterrupted time to change your life. You just need the right plan. ✨ Ready to make your first $1,000? Join us in the 1K Moms Club on Substack for the exact workbooks and 15-minute daily plans I use. One of my clients said this and it resonated so much: "If it isn't on the calendar, it isn't going to happen." We all have those "dream vacations" or goals we talk about, but today is the day we stop talking and start scheduling. We are diving into how to build an income from home using just 15 to 30-minute pockets of time. --- ✨ The "Tiny Rhythm" Secret You don't need a perfect schedule. You don't need a 9-to-5 block of childcare. You just need a tiny, repeatable rhythm. I started Classy Career Girl as a blog before I had kids, and where I am today is simply a collection of thousands of "15-minute moments." Whether you are in the "newborn fog," the "toddler whirlwind," or a "busy corporate season," you canmake progress.

The image might paint a picture of success: traveling for work, commuting to prestigious cities, climbing the corporate ladder. But behind the suits and government consulting facade, I was drowning in stress, unhappiness, and burnout. Here's a little origin story of Classy Career Girl. The Struggle Within: Miscarriages chipped away at my hope, and the pressure to conform took its toll. I was overweight, unhealthy, and desperately seeking something more. The corporate world had squeezed the life out of me. A Leap of Faith: Deciding to prioritize my well-being and happiness was scary. I put motherhood aside (temporarily!), committed to getting healthy, and chased a burning vision. Nights and weekends were spent pouring myself into my blog, building a course, and dreaming of a different future. From Part-Time Hustle to Thriving Business: Going part-time in the corporate world felt risky, but it opened space for new possibilities. Event hosting, network talks, and 1-on-1 coaching sessions started popping up. The monthly revenue, initially a trickle, slowly grew into a steady stream. This Wasn't Just About Money: It wasn't just about financial success. I was building a community, connecting with people, and sharing my passion. Every webinar, every coaching session, was a tiny victory, a step towards the life I envisioned. Finding Balance: My journey wasn't always smooth. There were bumps, doubts, and moments of uncertainty. But the key was learning to find balance. Balancing my growing business with the joys of motherhood, carving out time for self-care, and embracing flexibility became my mantra. My Message to You: If you're feeling stuck, unhappy, or burnt out, know that change is possible. It might not be easy, but with courage, commitment, and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone, you can create a life that nourishes your soul and sparks joy. My journey from the corporate ladder to career coaching and motherhood taught me that the most valuable pursuit is not defined by titles or external validation, but by the pursuit of happiness and fulfillment on your own terms. After 8 years in corporate, I was stuck. I knew I wasn't in the right career for me but had no idea what to do next. So I started a blog sharing what I wish I would have known when I first started my career. I blogged and blogged and blogged until I decided enough was enough. I was quitting my job and had to start earning some money with my side hustle. So I experimented with online courses, membership sites, books, speaking, events, sponsored posts, consulting and website advertising. And the one thing that I loved most was Career Coaching. I could make an impact on other women, answer their questions and schedule my work around my soon to be growing family. Because I was pregnant and was planning to quit my job after maternity leave. August 1, 2014 I submitted my resignation letter and the rest is history! I created my dream job and in today's podcast episode, I'm sharing WHY I love career coaching so much. You'll learn the mindset behind becoming a career coach, what a career coach does and what career coaching sessions look like. You'll also learn the fastest way to get started as a career coach and how I recommend getting your first clients. I'll teach you the tools I use to accept payment and set up my calendar. I'll also share some tools you can use to hold your career coaching sessions. Here's a fact about me. I'm a nerd for making a list and setting a plan. How about you? Planning is not making a resolution. It's putting pen to paper, setting goals, and executing. Her thoughts on her quarterly and annual planning process 2. How often Anna revisits and reviews her plan 3. The roadblocks to successful planning 4. A common misconception is that if you want to start a business, you have to quit your day job. But, the truth is you don't have to quit without the income coming in consistently. I worked on Classy Career Girl for 3 years before I quit my day job. At the time I quit, my business income had reached my day job income so I was safe to make the leap into entrepreneurship full-time! I built up my business as a side hustle and worked on my passion project in the evenings and weekends. I even quit after 6 weeks of maternity leave and built my business with a baby on my lap! :) One thing I learned very quickly is that when I had my day job, I needed to be able to generate multiple revenue streams quickly because I had very little time to work in my business. So today on the Classy Career Girl Podcast, I'm outlining the steps I took to create multiple streams of revenue so I had consistent income to quit my day job. In today's episode, I am sharing why creating multiple income streams is important. You'll learn how you can plan your launches for the year and how to prioritize your product ideas so you know which one to start with first. I'll share 10 revenue sources that will help you create consistent recurring revenue and give you a sneak peek at our Magic Income Streams Course which is included in our 2022 Classy Career girl Black Friday Bundle!
