Then, I could quit my day job because I had 6 months of savings. I could volunteer my time. Today, I can volunteer. You can do the work you were designed to do. The work you were created for. Objection crush: Meredith – “I didn't think I had discipline”. I am not disciplined enough to meet my goals. Working in your passion doesn't require much discipline when you love what you do. Spend your time focusing on doing work you love, discipline comes easy. Q&A With Anna Runyan About Planning and Goal Setting Question 1: Stephanie Rae Bunce, “How do you create a goals list that doesn't leave you feeling overwhelmed?” Question 2: Robin Price, “How do you make smaller and smaller action steps toward your goals?” Question 3: Lisa Polak, “Finding an hour of time for herself. How can I make the time?” “Do you do your vision planning with your husband/family, as well?” Question 4: Charmaine Du Toit, “Perhaps a subject for a whole other workshop but how do you get started when you feel like you've lost your mojo and can't seem to even come up with a vision. Too many ideas and lots of plans but none steering toward an ultimate goal.” Question 5: Laurie Parker, “Good Morning Anna! Thank you so much for doing this every year. This is the furthest I have gotten in planning and I haven't really gotten too far. I always to great when working on the reflecting part, but when it gets to the planning, I get overwhelmed and I don't know where to even begin. This is so frustrating to me. I am ready to be out of where I am and I need to move forward. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you!”

Iiris Murto A question about personal branding: majority of the advice I've seen about branding is for your business and/or creative work. And that's all wonderful! But I've found it really difficult to find the applicable points to something more "boring" and less flashy, such as my field (sports economics and analytics). How would you go about building a captivating and dynamic personal brand when your area of expertise is inherently just looking at numbers and your field is mostly male. As someone who loves baking and high heels AND a good set of data, I'm wondering: how to mix all these often conflicting aspects and demands into a coherent personal brand that will help me move forward in my career? Great question Employee in a corporate consulting role. Male dominated. Numbers and spreadsheets. 8 years - Got promoted and raises but knew there was something more out there for me. Halfway through I started created a Personal Brand where I wanted to go, for my next step. It too a few years but I had a vision and created my personal brand on my vision of who I wanted to be in 5-10 years from then. That personal brand I built helped me get my next job which was a Professor at DeVry University. I put my personal brand/my blog on my resume and used everything I learned from learning as much as I could creating my own personal brand. Social media and branding is not just for entrepreneurs. Where do you want to be in 5-10 years? What skills and experiences do you need to get there? Evaluate our network and do informational interviews. Where do you see yourself? What's your next step? Current company? Different industry or company? What does your brand need to be to get you there? What got you here won't get you there. What do you want your resume to look like. Create a resume for yourself in 5 years or a dream job description. Create your content: Create original content that expresses your personal brand online and on social media. Ex. LinkedIn, Twitter, Blogs, Facebook, Personal website, online resume, etc. Create a quick, simple, and memorable statement describing who you are and what you have to offer. Pick 2-3 social platforms. Each sphere adds to your brand and personal reputation. Should you buy your name as your domain? Medium.com. Talk ing on YouTube. LinkedIN posts if your industry is on the professional side. I would start an instagram with your food, your clothes and your knowledge of data. Mix all your favorite things together to create your brand. Find Your Dream Job: Insider Tips for Finding Work, Advancing your Career, and Loving Your Job
Do you have a clear vision of where you want to go with your career? If not, you may be wasting precious time, as tasks related to job searches can become overwhelming. Today’s guest expert, Anna Runyan, says there are three main obstacles for job seekers searching for their dream job. They are: Time: Consider what job searching tasks can be batched to save time. Plan out priorities on a calendar. Put extra effort into networking. Fear: Job seekers may fear of applying for jobs they don’t think they are qualified for. Job seekers should surround themselves with supportive network groups such as Facebook, Masterminds, and industry forums. Job Seekers need to get over the fear of networking with people they don’t know. Direction: Figure out your ideal career fit. i. Look at your previous career experiences. ii. Make a list of things you love doing, and things you do not want to do. Determine your ideal work day, and then map it out. Pro Tip — Informational interviews with people already working in the field you want to work in, can help you determine the next steps of your job search.
