Send us Fan MailPatrick Zeller, General Counsel, Jetstream SecurityIn this episode of The Data Diva Talks Privacy, Debbie Reynolds,  The Data Diva, speaks with Patrick Zeller, General Counsel of Jetstream Security, about artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, privacy, and the evolving risks organizations face as AI becomes embedded throughout their operations. Patrick shares his unique career journey from the Illinois Attorney General's Office into technology law, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies, explaining how his early interest in computers shaped a career that bridges both legal and technical disciplines. The conversation explores how organizations are adopting AI at an unprecedented pace and why many leaders are struggling to understand the risks associated with these technologies. Patrick explains that AI entered many organizations through productivity tools and enterprise platforms before legal, privacy, and security teams had an opportunity to evaluate its implications. As a result, many companies are now working to gain visibility into how AI is being used, what information is being shared, and where risks may exist.Debbie and Patrick discuss AI risk through three primary categories: input risks, output risks, and related organizational risks. They examine how employees may inadvertently expose sensitive information by entering confidential, financial, employee, legal, or proprietary information into AI systems. The discussion highlights real-world examples involving compensation information, trade secrets, attorney-client privileged communications, and sensitive corporate data that may be exposed through unauthorized use of AI tools. The episode explores the growing challenge of shadow AI, where employees use public AI tools outside approved enterprise environments. Patrick explains that organizations must understand which AI tools are being used, who is using them, and which systems and data those tools can access. The conversation also covers SEC reporting obligations, cross-border data transfer concerns, unauthorized access incidents, insider threat risks, and the growing need for organizations to monitor AI interactions with sensitive business information.Patrick and Debbie discuss how organizations must rethink traditional security models because AI is no longer operating outside the corporate perimeter. Instead, AI increasingly functions as an insider with potential access to valuable data and systems. The conversation explores how organizations can improve visibility, governance, and oversight while balancing innovation and business objectives. The discussion concludes with a broader examination of how society is approaching AI adoption. Patrick introduces the concept of a "Galbraithian inversion," in which organizations adopt powerful technologies before fully understanding how they work. Debbie and Patrick discuss why this creates both opportunities and challenges as companies race to deploy AI while simultaneously trying to understand its legal, security, privacy, and governance implications.By popular demand, Debbie Reynolds Consulting is now offering executive briefings on emerging data privacy risks and how companies can avoid them. In this episode, Jeff Mains sits down with Preston Zeller—SaaS operator, award-winning documentary filmmaker, and founder of Psalm Log—on what it actually takes to scale a founder-led company intentionally in the age of AI. The conversation pulls back the curtain on the messy reality of implementing artificial intelligence inside fast-growth organizations, the tension between efficiency and humanity, and why performative AI adoption falls flat.Together, they dig into agent orchestration, shifting buyer behavior, the shrinking value of classic SEO, and what a truly AI-native company looks like—not just as a tech stack, but as a culture built to last. Preston also shares leadership lessons from his days scaling at DiscoverOrg (now ZoomInfo) and A Cloud Guru, and how storytelling has underpinned every move he's made—from startups to the grief community. If you want to deploy AI without burning out your team or gutting your culture, this conversation gives you intelligence you can use and a challenge to keep humans at the center.Key Takeaways00:00 Scaling AI with Intentionality05:51 Understanding the adoption curve07:25 Excessive spending at Twitter13:02 Finding purpose in work challenges14:13 Implementing new tools effectively18:44 Managing AI with Paperclip AI20:21 Discussing different AI model uses25:18 Challenges in scaling SaaS startups27:48 Automating digital advertising32:09 Balancing AI use with human input34:54 Financial literacy and communication gap37:09 Understanding the impact of work42:06 The importance of authenticity online45:15 Discussing grief and mental health documentary46:13 Show resources and future proof takeawayTweetable Quotes“Strategic AI is when you can say in one sentence the problem it solves and who it frees up.” — Jeff Mains 47:10“If you're not careful, you'll get people who are just clerical button-pushers, rubber-stamping whatever comes out of AI instead of using it as a collaborator.” — Preston Zeller 32:09“High performers get more work but not more reward—culture eats meritocracy if you're not intentional.” — Preston Zeller 11:02“You can scale headcount and revenue, but if your team checks out, you've already lost.” — Jeff Mains 32:08“Own the niche and you're in a better position than just being general. Guard against mental checkout by keeping humans in the loop and critically engaged. If you can't explain the business problem a tool solves, don't roll it out—strategy beats performative urgency every time.Leading through change means over-communicating the ‘why'—especially as context differs between leadership and the front lines. You can build a company that lasts AND live a life worth remembering; don't buy the false choice between significance and adventure.Guest Resourcespreston@zellerhaus.comhttps://psalmlog.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/prestonzeller/https://www.instagram.com/prestonzellerhttps://x.com/prestonzellerEpisode SponsorThe Futureproof Series - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfkXKUPZ5xuOqMPR7_gzGybncTtavyR1NThe Captain's KeysSmall Fish, Big Pond – https://smallfishbigpond.com/ Use the promo code ‘SaaSFuel'Champion Leadership Group – https://championleadership.com/https://jeffmains.com/books/SaaS Fuel ResourcesWebsite - https://championleadership.com/Jeff Mains on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeffkmains/Twitter - https://twitter.com/jeffkmainsFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/thesaasguy/Instagram - https://instagram.com/jeffkmains

Jace and Rocky break down all 11 DC releases for the week of July 1, 2026. Absolute Green Lantern #16 brings the Absolute Lantern spectrum closer together as Hal Jordan uses violet light to protect the group from the Black Star of Sinestro, Jo Mullein weaponizes the people of Evergreen inside the Green Lantern construct, and Jessica Cruz's connection to Mogo threatens to throw the fight sideways. Poison Ivy #46 moves the pieces into place for Bad Seeds without Pamela appearing in the issue, as Janet from HR explains why Harley may be the only person who can reach Ivy and why Pamela's love for Harley makes her feel vulnerable. Batman #11 brings Lady Ojo back into the story as Batman clashes with her, the Minotaur's hold on Gotham's criminal money comes back into focus, Dr. Zeller deals with the fallout of Bruce's almost-date, and Verity Pennyworth makes her first appearance at Wayne Manor. Adventures of Superman: Book of El #10 continues Philip Kennedy Johnson's House of El story as Superman battles for his adoptive children, the fight on Tamarian escalates, and Kryl-Ux proves how powerful he has become by taking on a Sun-Eater. Batgirl #21 brings Cassandra Cain back to Gotham as Doctor Forget-Me-Not forces her to confront memories of a young girl named Victoria who may have been killed by Cassandra when she was younger, while the issue continues building Batgirl's own supporting cast. 100 Bullets: The U.S. of Anger #1 returns to Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso's world in black and white, following Lono through a grim, angry story involving podcasters, gang violence, police violence and the fractured state of America. Deadman #2 improves on the first issue by bringing in Plastic Man, showing Deadman fail to take over Batman because of Bruce's psychological defenses, and expanding the villain's interference with souls transitioning into the afterlife. Supergirl: Survive #2 turns Kara and baby Kal-El's escape into a galaxy-hopping Elseworlds adventure as Lobo's gang hunts the last Kryptonians, the Lantern Corps appears across the emotional spectrum, and Kara receives a hope lantern ring after Saint Walker's death. Absolute Martian Manhunter #12 closes the series by focusing on John Jones' relationship with his son Tyler, how his inability to understand Tyler helped fracture his family, and how the Martian Manhunter experience lets him see others differently as he chooses a second chance with his wife and child. JSA #21 explores the Spectre's origin and has the spirit of vengeance jump between different JSA hosts, including Obsidian, Jade and Wildcat, while Metron suggests the mystery depends not only on the Spectre's beginning but also on Jim Corrigan's origin. Batman / Green Arrow / The Question: Arcadia #4 continues Gabriel Hardman's political mystery as Batman, Green Arrow and the Question push deeper into the conspiracy around Arcadia, with the book still functioning more as a dense ideological thriller than a traditional superhero team-up. They also give a rundown of this week's collected editions, reprints and facsimile releases. As always, all books are ranked from top to bottom and each host gives a Book of the Week pick.

What really happens inside the world's most dangerous underground economies? And why do the people running them trust a journalist enough to talk? Mariana van Zeller — Emmy- and Peabody Award–winning investigative journalist, host and executive producer of Trafficked on National Geographic, and host of The Hidden Third podcast — has spent years embedded with scammers, smugglers, cartel members, assassins, and black-market power brokers. In this episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, she pulls back the curtain on the shadow systems that quietly shape the global economy. Mariana breaks down the difference between the black market vs. the grey market, why understanding these hidden economies is the only way to create real change, and how she manages to gain access to some of the most secretive and dangerous players in the world. She explains how empathy, not judgment, is often the key to getting people labeled “the worst of the worst” to open up, and why many of them speak with her because of something surprisingly simple: a deep human need to be heard and understood. She also addresses critics who say she shouldn't give criminals a platform, revealing why listening to these voices is essential to exposing the systems behind global crime. We dive into her most harrowing experiences in the field — including the terrifying moment she and her team weren't sure they would make it out alive, and the time they had to escape a country in the middle of a life-threatening military coup while filming. Mariana also unpacks the current climate in Mexico's drug war, explaining why violence often escalates when major cartel kingpins are taken down, and the troubling implications of the fact that many of the weapons used by cartels originate in the United States. We get into one of the fastest-growing criminal industries in the world: scams. She breaks down everything you've ever wanted to know about romance scams and “pig butchering” operations, including: - Psychological tactics scammers use - Who scammers typically target and why - Massive infrastructure behind modern scam compounds - Why many scammers are actually victims of forced labor themselves - Why victims often stay silent due to shame and stigma Mariana explains why advancing technology, crypto, and AI are making financial scams easier than ever, and why anyone can fall victim — no matter how smart or cautious they are, including the shocking case of a bank CEO who was successfully defrauded. We also explore medical black markets, from organ trafficking to international surrogacy scams, and discuss some of her most intense interviews, from conversations with a suspected Russian sex spy to Anna Delvey, the infamous socialite scammer. Despite spending her career face-to-face with some of the darkest corners of humanity, Mariana reveals something surprising: she still believes deeply in people. In fact, she sometimes finds more hope, honesty, and equality in underground markets than in global governments or legal capitalism. This conversation will change how you think about crime, power, empathy, and the hidden systems shaping our world! Ohne kontinuierliche Investitionen in Branding verliere jede Marke langfristig an Strahlkraft. This is an authentic and thoughtful conversation about leveraging new tools and ancient wisdom to build resilience, emotional health, and deeper connections—whether you're a longtime believer, just curious, or somewhere in between.Welcome to Spirit of EQ! In this episode, I sit down with Preston Zeller—an inspiring technologist, artist, and committed believer—to explore the fascinating intersection of faith, technology, and emotional intelligence.Preston shares the story behind Psalm Log, an app he created to deliver personalized biblical advice, using AI technology to help people navigate both their spiritual and emotional journeys.Together, we discuss the role artificial intelligence is playing in faith practice today, discussing its ethical implications, potential pitfalls, and how it can actually support reflection and personal growth—no matter your religious background. We also talk about Preston's moving experience with grief and creativity, highlighted by his award-winning documentary, “The Art of Grieving.” Preston reveals how artistic expression can serve as a powerful outlet for healing, and why embracing creativity isn't just for artists, but for anyone seeking to work through life's toughest challenges.Moments04:09 AI-Assisted Journaling for Growth06:22 "Faithful AI Alliance Initiative"12:18 AI Adoption: Categories and Insights15:02 Navigating Uncertainty in Information17:49 "The Value of Authentic Writing"20:30 Sunday Christians and Spiritual Stagnation25:41 "Finding Hope Amid Struggles"29:02 "Psalm Log: Grief in Art"30:52 "Painting Grief into Mosaic"35:46 "Navigating Loss and Connection"36:40 "Grief, Discipline, and Healing"40:19 "Creative Expression for Healing"45:56 "Creativity Opens New Possibilities"47:02 "Grief, Emotions, and Healing"50:37 Approaching Gospel with Nonbelievers55:38 "Less Can Be More"57:07 Faithful AI and Biblical GuidanceHere are 3 key takeaways:AI as a Tool for Reflection & Growth: Preston emphasized that Psalm Log uses AI responsibly to supplement personal and spiritual reflection, not replace it. Technology can facilitate deeper self-awareness and biblical guidance, but it shouldn't override the human side of processing and agency.Creativity & Grief as Catalysts for Healing: Preston's documentary, The Art of Grieving, explores how creativity can be a powerful outlet in navigating loss. Whether through art, music, or journaling, giving emotions their “mic” leads to genuine healing and growth.Inclusivity & Impact Beyond Belief: While Psalm Log is inspired by biblical wisdom, its benefits aren't limited to Christians. Preston noted the app is designed to help anyone—regardless of faith background—find encouragement and tools for emotional wellness.Preston Zeller sits at an unusual intersection: faith-tech founder, growth executive, documentary filmmaker, and abstract artist. As founder of Psalmlog, he's building an AI-powered biblical guidance app that helps believers access relevant Scripture for any life situation—addressing the universal Christian challenge of knowing God's Word has answers but not knowing where to look. His approach is informed by proprietary research with 200+ Christians and 15 years scaling companies from $25M to $300M ARR. As Chief Growth Officer at BatchService, he oversaw the GTM teams, leading to two successful exits. He previously led digital marketing and growth at A Cloud Guru (acquired by Pluralsight for $2B) and ZoomInfo (IPO'd).Preston brings equal depth to creative work. His documentary The Art of Grieving (2022) follows his year-long project of painting daily after his 35-year-old brother Colin died suddenly from a fentanyl overdose. The film explores grief through personal narrative, art therapy, and cultural history. It's available on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, and Tubi, and has won Best Documentary at the LA Film Awards, Bridge Film Fest, and Love Wins International Film Festival. In each episode, Jeff and Eric will talk about what emotional intelligence, or understanding your emotions, can do for you in your daily and work life. Drug cartels have quietly infiltrated rural America. Trafficked host Mariana van Zeller walks us through the underworld hiding beneath our very feet.Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1302What We Discuss with Mariana van Zeller:Mexican drug cartels are deliberately setting up operations in small-town America — not big cities — because rural areas have minimal law enforcement, making it easier to hide distribution networks where a single sheriff can't compete with heavily armed cartel operatives.Mariana van Zeller builds trust with dangerous sources — from cartel lieutenants to assassins — by ditching prepared question lists, sharing personal photos, and offering cigarettes, treating interviews as human conversations rather than interrogations to unlock genuine, unguarded responses.Commercial airlines like Delta are among the biggest drug transportation networks in the US, with cartel distributors exploiting everyday travel infrastructure rather than the covert smuggling operations most people imagine — meaning the drug trade hides in plain sight. The opioid-to-fentanyl-to-tranq-dope pipeline is a public health crisis, not a moral failing — most users started with a legitimate injury and a prescription, and the street drug xylazine now causes wounds resembling leprosy while hospitals stigmatize users instead of treating them.Mariana's approach to journalism offers a powerful reminder that curiosity and empathy — not judgment — are what unlock the deepest understanding of people and problems, a mindset anyone can practice to have more meaningful conversations and see the world with clearer eyes. And much more...And if you're still game to support us, please leave a review here — even one sentence helps! Today's poem is an excerpt from THERE IS ONLY ONE GHOST IN THE WORLD by Sophie Klahr and Corey Zeller. The Slowdown is your daily poetry ritual. In this episode, Maggie writes… “ Today's piece is collaborative, written by Sophie Klahr and Cory Zeller. I love the way it begins with the legend of the Bermuda Triangle but then turns toward the incredibly personal, though there isn't a single person's perspective or experience behind it.” Celebrate the power of poems with a gift to The Slowdown today. On the afternoon of March 26, 1997, the San Diego County Sherrif's Department received an anonymous call through 911 reporting a mass suicide at an address in Rancho Santa Fe, California. A single sheriff's deputy was dispatched to the address and knocked on the front door, but got no response. Finding a side door to the home unlocked, the deputy entered the house and was horrified to discover nearly forty bodies of adults, all of whom appeared to have taken their own lives in what appeared to be some kind of ritual. Not since the terrible mass deaths at Jonestown decades earlier had Americans seen such a bizarre and ultimately tragic occurrence and few were able to understand how such a thing could have happened in the modern age. What could have caused so many people to willingly give up their lives, and who was he enigmatic man who'd convinced them to do it?ReferencesAyers, B. Drummon. 1997. 2015 Best Book Award from the Communal Studies AssociationThe captivating story of the people of Heaven's Gate, a religious group focused on transcending humanity and the Earth, and seeking salvation in the literal heavens on board a UFOIn March 1997, thirty-nine people in Rancho Santa Fe, California, ritually terminated their lives. To outsiders, it was a mass suicide. To insiders, it was a graduation. This act was the culmination of over two decades of spiritual and social development for the members of Heaven's Gate.In this fascinating overview, Benjamin Zeller not only explores the question of why the members of Heaven's Gate committed ritual suicides, but interrogates the origin and evolution of the religion, its appeal, and its practices. By tracking the development of the history, social structure, and worldview of Heaven's Gate, Zeller draws out the ways in which the movement was both a reflection and a microcosm of larger American culture. The group emerged out of engagement with Evangelical Christianity, the New Age movement, science fiction and UFOs, and conspiracy theories, and it evolved in response to the religious quests of baby boomers, new religions of the counterculture, and the narcissistic pessimism of the 1990s. Thus, Heaven's Gate not only reflects the context of its environment, but also reveals how those forces interacted in the form of a single religious body. In the only book-length study of Heaven's Gate, Zeller traces the roots of the movement, examines its beliefs and practices, and tells the captivating story of its people.https://amzn.to/3LOfAj5Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-opperman-report--1198501/support.

I went into this interview a little nervous - because let's be honest, Mariana van Zeller is famously serious. She interviews assassins, drug lords, traffickers, and people living in the darkest corners of the world. I was fully prepared for an intense, heavy conversation. Instead… we laughed. A lot. This episode ended up being funny, warm, surprising, and genuinely joyful - while still being jaw-dropping. Mariana shares what it was like moving to Syria right out of college to become a reporter, the surreal moments of being picked up in the middle of the night, blindfolded, and driven somewhere unknown, and an interview where she wasn't allowed to bring a phone and had no idea where she was going. We also talk about the personal side of a life spent taking massive risks - how her husband and family support her completely, how she manages fear, and what it really takes to walk into dangerous spaces with empathy instead of ego. This conversation reminded me that the bravest people aren't hardened - they're human, curious, and often unexpectedly funny. Mariana is all of that and more, and this ended up being one of my favorite interviews I've ever done.Listen to Mariana's Podcast The Hidden Third HEREProduced by Dear MediaSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Royalty's children are among a growinggroup of children who have lost a parent or sibling. A 2023 report fromJudi's House – an organization that advocates for grieving kids and families –found that one in 12 kids will lose a parent or sibling by age 18. Since thepandemic, the rate has continued to increase. Following the death of his 35-year-old brother and facedwith the emotional toll of grief, artist Preston Zeller delves into a year-longproject to paint every day through Intuitive and abstract painting to processgrief and share his process with others. Along the way, this opens the door tonew conversation, ultimately raising the question of why grief isn't better addressedin Western culture?  As a culmination tothis year of painting, the 365 paintings are assembled into a massive 10 ft. x20 ft image to represent a year of grief and further spur conversations overthis important subject. When I directed The Art of Grieving, I witnessedfirsthand how creative action can transform loss, and it's reflected in my ownwalk through grief after losing my brother. As someone who's both felt andfilmed those powerful moments, I would love to share that journey with youraudience and spark meaningful conversation around hope, healing, and faith. For over 15 years, I've been a believer and growth executivehelping scale businesses from zero to successful exits, while also buildinginnovative technology in the faith-tech space. My current focus is Psalmlog, anAI-powered app designed to help Christians quickly discover God's guidance inlife's hardest moments, a solution directly shaped by research with hundreds ofbelievers. With much of today's world rooted in real stories that connect tech, business, and the human journey, I think I'd fit right in.I'm grateful for the chance to serve nearly 7,000faith-driven leaders and entrepreneurs online, but I'm even more interested inhonest conversations.  He joined me thisweek to have a conversation about hope, healing, grief, and gratitude. For more information: https://theartofgrievingfilm.com/ Discover More: https://psalmlog.com/Follow @PrestonZeller
