The Kirk Minihane Show is back from the holiday break and the first order of business is to address the terrible best of Steve Robinson put together and, on a similar note, DEC's excellent year in review program. The New Year is young, but already trouble is brewing between the Team Minihane and Team Portnoy, starting with Portnoy and Kmarko letting us know that Blind Mike will not be writing for the Barstool blog (0:31:00). The episode culminates in Mike instructing the Barstool founder to "grow a set of balls and fire me." (0:53:40) An old friend of the show spent the holiday break digging up old tweets from WEEI's Greg Hill (1:07:00). One of the great parody song singer-songwriters starts 2020 with a bang (1:30:35). Romance is in the air between Minihane and the Red Claws (02:55:40).
Adam and Brenden start the episode by recapping the close win over the Kings, followed by a brief preview of whats to come with the Nets. This was recorded before the news about Tremont Waters being re-assigned to the Red Claws. In the outtakes, it's Tacko Time as the team officially added Tacko Fall as a 2 way player and Jon is excited to have Tacko up in Maine with the Red Claws.

Rajon Rondo Out for Game 5 in Boston but Questionable for Game 6 Return Against Celtics, Maine Red Claws Players Celebrated in All Team Selections.
After a long and productive season – one in which they made history with their first playoff series win as a franchise – the Maine Red Claws ultimately succumbed to the Raptors 905 in the D-League Eastern Conference Finals, a 103-88 final Wednesday night in Mississauga, Ontario. Demetrius Jackson's 21 points weren't enough for Maine, as the 905 defense held the Red Claws to 43 percent shooting on just 75 attempts from the field. The win puts the 905 in the D-League Finals for the first time in franchise history.
In similar fashion to their brethren to the South – the Boston Celtics, who fell in Game 1 to the Chicago Bulls – the Maine Red Claws were on the wrong end of a 109-84 Game 1 shellacking at the hands of Raptors 905 Sunday afternoon at the Portland Expo Building. The loss puts Maine in a bind in this best of three series, with a must-win game on Wednesday - and Thursday if they win Game 2 - at the 905's Hershey Arena.

The Celtics and Bulls met in the playoffs in 1981, 1986, and 1987 (all Celtics sweeps), before waiting 22 years, where they would face off in one of the NBA's all-time great first round series in 2009, a tense nail biter that lasted seven games and included seven periods of overtime basketball. The missing piece from that series? Rajon Rondo. This time, however, Rondo won't be in a Celtics uniform. Plus, Celtics second-round pick Abdel Nader named D-League Rookie of the Year for the Maine Red Claws
Fresh off of averaging 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists, on 61 percent shooting during his two-game home debut in front of the Maine Red Claws crowd, it is clear that not only the fans, but also Yabusele's teammates thrive off of the energy that he brings to the court every single play. I sat down with the player known as the Dancing Bear - someone who compares his game to Draymond Green's - during his off day as the Red Claws prepared for a deciding Game 3 in the D-League playoffs. We discussed everything from strange rules in China, how he earned the Dancing Bear nickname, his relationship with Celtics rookie Jaylen Brown, and why he pursued basketball as a youngster growing up in France. The Maine Red Claws made history Wednesday night at the Portland Expo, as they earned their first playoff series win in franchise history with a 124-119 win against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in a true must-win Game 3. The last few minutes of this game played the same hand as the previous two, down to the wire and up for grabs. Unlike Monday's defeat, one in which Maine blew as much as a 15-point lead, the Red Claws persevered in this one after being down eight points in the fourth quarter.
The energy was palpable inside the Portland Expo arena in Portland, Maine, Monday night for the Red Claws Fort Wayne Mad Ants playoff matchup, a potentially deciding Game 2 in this best of 3 series. But for at least one more night, the Red Claws and Mad Ants will commence in a deciding game, as the Mad Ants came back from a 15-point second half deficit to steal Game 2, 111-110.
Demetrius Jackson ties his career-high with 30 points, and the Maine Red Claws make history with their first playoff win in franchise history, 110-106 in overtime on the road against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Tip-off for Game 2 in Maine is set for 8 p.m. on Monday, April 10. The television broadcast can be found on Facebook Live.
In the first half or the show Jon and Justin look ahead to Wednesday's match-up against the Cavs and second guess just about every decision the organization has made since the All-Star break, including the one from Sunday to play Lebron James extended minutes to secure a win against Indiana. In the second half of the show the guys discuss Jae Crowder's elbow and how "weird" it is that we do not have an update yet on the status. From there, Jon finally has his chance to through serious like the way of the Dancing Bear, now playing in Maine with the Red Claws, and review a curious re-ordering of the 2016 draft class recently put out by Chad Ford and Kevin Pelton. News out of Celtics practice Tuesday was the Avery Bradley looked good and ready to return against the Cavaliers Wednesday, while Jae Crowder is still experiencing discomfort in his left elbow and sat out of practice.
The Celtics hung onto first-place in the East by the slimmest of margins Friday night, while starting guard Avery Bradley will miss more time with an illness. In the D-League, Boston first-rounder Guerschon Yabusele impressed in his debut for the Maine Red Claws.
After outlasting the Miami Heat Sunday, the Boston Celtics welcome in another potential playoff matchup, the Milwaukee Bucks. Similar to the Heat. the Bucks are playing some of their best basketball of the season, having won 12 of out of their last 15 games. And similar to Miami's physical style, Milwaukee's size and aggression on defense may present the Celtics with a difficult test - now, and perhaps in the playoffs. Plus, Guerschon Yabusele is expected to play with the Maine Red Claws Friday.
Taken with the 45th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Demetrius Jackson has spent most of his rookie season as a key contributor for the D-League Maine Red Claws. As the Red Claws settle in for a playoff berth, Jackson has quietly exerted leadership skills and a competitive edge that was previously lauded during his standout career at Notre Dame. I talk with Jackson about what a typical pregame routine entails, his communication level between the Red Claws and Celtics, what a five-on-five scrimmage looks like at Celtics practice, and more. In a potential NBA D-League first round playoff matchup, the Maine Red Claws allowed 63 points on 56 percent shooting in the first half against the Canton Charge, the Cleveland Cavaliers' D-League affiliate, eventually falling by a final of 110-99. On assignment from the Boston Celtics, point guard Demetrius Jackson and forward Jordan Mickey combined for 36 points against a Charge team that now sports the D-League's fifth best record, and has won nine out of its last 10 games played. With Boston Celtics analyst, announcer, and former player, Brian Scalabrine in attendance, a halftime show featuring a trampoline and Lucky the Celtics mascot, as well as a Dancing Bear on the sidelines, there was an extra air of energy in the arena.
Missing one player from the Boston Celtics, the Maine Red Claws had another player fill that void, as Jordan Mickey and the Maine Red Claws bested the Salt Lake City Stars 104-95 in front of a sellout crowd of 2,717 at the Portland Expo in Portland, Maine, the team's fourth win in a row.

The Maine Red Claws now have a magic number of five wins to make the D-League playoffs for the third time in three seasons under head coach Scott Morrison after beating the Westchester Knicks 93-85 sunday afternoon at the Portland Expo Building in Portland, Maine. Plus, Morrison offers further insight on the potential Guerschon Yabusele signing.
Right in the face of Winter Storm Orson, the Maine Red Claws and Grand Rapids Drive played as cold as the frigid weather outside. Maine fell to Grand Rapids 97-79, as the Red Claws finished with 18 turnovers and only 29 made field goals.

Sometimes the best remedy for a loss is to get back out there – whether it's on the court, in the playing field, or in life in general. The Maine Red Claws had no choice in the say, as the D-League schedule makers scheduled back to back games between Maine and the Greensboro Swarm at the end of January. That played into their hands – even with the loss of Abdel Nader, who was out with a hip injury – as the 2,445 in attendance were treated to a 111-98 victory, Maine's 19th victory on the season.

With fresh snow on the ground and cold weather taking hold of Southern Maine, the Maine Red Claws were able to put together stingy second and third quarter defensive efforts – with Boston Celtics assignee Demetrius Jackson taking over in the final stages with 10 fourth quarter points – beating the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 111-103 Sunday afternoon at the Portland Expo. Groggy starts notwithstanding, the Red Claws were dealt a blow early on, as Abdel Nader – coming off of a near triple double of 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists in Friday's win at Long Island – exited the game after only six minutes of action in the first quarter due to food poisoning. Fortunately for the now 15-7 Red Claws, Jackson was present to add to the scoring punch.
