Shaun explains his love with the Japanese way of living, the culture, the food & the beauty including Mount Fuji! In 2022 at Steyn City Shaun would win on the DP World Tour for the first time beating fellow countryman Dean Burmester to win at -25 shortly after that Shaun would be approached by LIV Golf with an offer of playing the first 7 events of the inaugural season which he would accept and tells us about how the difference between LIV Golf & normal Tour Golf are. He would be in 3 teams in that time Aces with Dustin Johnson, Crushers with Bryson DeChambeau then the all SA team Stingers with Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel & Branden Grace! Sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and Bullpen Sports Grill - Leadington, MOBranden Grace holds the record for lowest single-round score in a men's major. Now he holds the record for lowest score shot in a LIV Golf tournament. The Stinger GC star posted a bogey-free 9-under 61 in Friday's opening round at LIV Golf Tulsa, breaking the previous low of 62 shared by five players. The record-breaking score gave Grace a two-shot lead over 4Aces GC Captain Dustin Johnson and HyFlyers GC's Brendan Steele, who each shot 64 at Cedar Ridge Country Club.Grace holds the major record of 62 shot at the 2017 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Grace played in two majors last year but is not scheduled to compete in any of the majors this season.Fueled by Grace's 61, along with 65 from captain Louis Oosthuizen and 67 by Dean Burmester, the all-South African Stingers lead the team competition by six shots at 17 under. Johnson's 4Aces, the current point leaders in the team standings, are second at 11 under, with Bubba Watson's RangeGoats GC and Cameron Smith's Ripper GC another shot back at 10 under. Talor Gooch, the Oklahoma native and RangeGoats star who has won the last two LIV Golf League tournaments to climb to the top of the Individual Champion standings, shot a 2-under 68 that did not count for his team. But he was pleased to see the big turnout of fans for LIV Golf's first event in his home state.“It was awesome,” Gooch said. “I had some more nerves early than I expected, but it was a blast out there. ... The pressure I put on my state the last couple of tournaments when I've kind of called them out, they came through for us today.”Gooch holds the record for lowest round relative to par, having shot consecutive 10-under 62s in his first win at LIV Golf Adelaide. Grace fell one birdie short of tying that record, but after finishing outside the top 40 in Australia and Singapore and falling into some bad habits, he's glad to see that last week's work with his swing coach paid quick dividends.“Just trying to work on the routines, not let bad things sneak to your head at certain times, things like that,” said Grace, winner of the first LIV Golf event held in America last year in Portland. “This was a really good day.” Johnson had a very interesting day, especially in his front nine with some uncharacteristic wayward shots. He was 1 under through his first 10 holes before posting six birdies coming in.“Through the middle of the round, got a little squirrely, just wasn't driving it well,” said Johnson, who led the field in fewest putts Friday with 21. “Hit a really bad tee shot on 6 … Then just on the back nine, drove it better and hit it close. I made a couple of putts.”Steele's round was highlighted by an eagle at the par-5 fifth. The first-year LIV Golf player had started out with consecutive top-5 finishes this season for Phil Mickelson's HyFlyers and was part of the four-man playoff in Tucson. Now he's trying to regain that form.“I've had some good rounds but haven't put together three rounds the last couple of events,” Steele said. “Haven't been driving it as well as normal. That's normally a strength of mine.”TEAM COUNTING SCORESHere are the standings and counting scores for Friday's opening round of the team competition at LIV Golf Tulsa. The three best scores from each team count in every round for their total team score. The team with the lowest cumulative score after three rounds wins the team title. 1. STINGER GC (-17): Branden Grace 61, Louis Oosthuizen 65, Dean Burmester 672. 4ACES GC (-11): Dustin Johnson 63, Pat Perez 67, Patrick Reed 69T3. RANGEGOATS GC (-10): Bubba WatsonThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and presented to you by The Barn Media Group.

Host Carl Lewis and golf punter Wade Pretorius preview the Hero World Challenge & SA Open Championship with Wade providing his best bets for both tournaments this weekend. SA Open Dating all the way back to 1893, the South African Open is the second oldest National Open in the world, with only the Open Championship, which was first staged back to 1860, dating back further. The South African Open has been co-sanctioned between the Sunshine and DP World Tour since 1997. Last year's edition was also scheduled to be a co-sanctioned event but due to COVID-19 travel restrictions in place in the UK from South Africa the majority of DP World Tour players withdrew and the event was revised as a sole-sanctioned Sunshine Tour event. Dean Burmester's very decent recent form figures in his homeland, reading 4-2-1-43-4-2-18-2, include his two fourths in the last two editions of this event and he's been in reasonable form this year with an 11th placed finish in the Open Championship and a fourth in the Sanderson Farms Championship on the PGA Tour the highlights. His prestigious length off the tee should be an asset this week but his very recent form is a bit disappointing, reading 37-32-MC-54, and I'm happy to swerve him. Branden Grace, who won the first of the two editions staged in 2020, has been plying his trade on the LIV Tour of late and to some success too. Grace won the LIV Golf Invitational Portland in July and after a quiet spell he finished inside the top-ten at the Nedbank Challenge last time out in what was his first appearance in his homeland since he won this title almost three years ago. Charl Schwartzel also plays on the LIV Tour now he too has tasted success, winning the first event staged there - the LIV Golf Invitational London in June. Schwartzel is still looking to win his national title for the first time but he hasn't played in the last couple of editions of the event either so taking the title can hardly be described as a burning desire. World Hero Challenge The PGA TOUR pops back into the frame to squeeze in one more event before the new year. This week's field is capped at just 20 golfers who are guaranteed four rounds of action and at least a couple OWGR points for their effort. Last year's winner, Viktor Hovland, scooped up 48 OWGR points last year while last-place finisher, Jordan Spieth, grabbed 2.4 points for his showing. The Course The host venue this week is Albany, an Ernie Els design that was established in 2010. Albany is unique as a desert-links style setup that almost looks like a video game creation. The scorecard shows a par 72 that stretches out past 7,400 yards. The course is unique in the hole-by-hole layout as there are five par 3s and five par 5s. It's a good balance as the abundance of par 3s puts an emphasis on smart and steady iron play while the par 5s often reward the elite drivers. On top of that, a pair of driveable par 4s also put a premium on controlling your metals/woods. Off the tee, golfers will see generous landing areas but plenty of sand and other trouble (bushes) waiting to gobble up errant tee balls. Water is in play on five holes. For turf, this coastal course features wall-to-wall bermudagrass that can be very tricky at times, particularly around the greens. Looking at the scoring environment, the weather dictates how low they can go at Albany. Bubba Watson won the 2015 edition at 25-under but the other five Albany champs have finished at 18-under or 20-under. That's probably tougher than you might expect for a resort course with five par 5s but that goes to show how the plethora of par 3s and a few tough par 4s help offer a good scoring balance.
The Shriners Open is event where we will see a ton of birdies and plenty of exciting action and Tom Jacobs and Matt Vincenzi are back as they look to roll the dice with some line-ups in Vegas. With some strong favourites who seem impossible to ignore at the top of the board, how you play the next tier of guys is incredibly important and we discuss the merits of avoiding the 8k range and making your picks in the 9k and 7k ranges instead. After a strong effort at the Sanderson Farms where strong cases were made for Sepp Straka, Keegan Bradley, Emiliano Grillo and Dean Burmester, we are hoping for another strong week in the desert. As ever we highly recommend you check out Tour-Tips.com for all the relevant statistics required to make informed selections each week. One-week subscription to tour-tips.com only £5.

This Monday episode gets back to some SGS roots, with a quick and unprepared whip around the results from the weekend in the golf world. It really, actually is a short one. They begin with the Valspar, where Sam Burns broke through for what could be the first of many wins on the PGA Tour. The dump in the cup award is back, as is the second edition of Thirstbucket of the Week. Other topics hit on are Keegan scraping it and Tringale closing in on a career achievement. Dean Burmester is mentioned and the Tenerife event is given a poor grade. The back half is a ramble on the giant flag in the center of a fairway at the new Jack Nicklaus course, as well as the general costs of giant flags. News hits on Pine Valley changing its policy to admit women members, and a potential angle for such a move. Lastly, all SGS merch will be 20 percent off through Monday night.
