This past week we celebrated the 2-year anniversary of Pope Francis's Apostolic Letter on the Liturgy, Desiderio Desideravi. This document is still a guiding force in our Church today; for this reason, we offer 2021 Jubilate Deo award winner Fr. John Baldovin's reflections as a wonderful foundation of learning. We also encourage you to attend the Breakout session, "Desiderio Desideravi and Discernment: Revealing Pope Francis's Liturgical Insights," at the 2024 Convention this summer.

Programa - VIVER A LITURGIA - CARTA APOSTÓLICA DESIDERIO DESIDERAVI 29/10/2023
Paul Fahey is a retreat leader and writer. He is a co-founder of Where Peter Is, wherepeteris.com, the founder and co-host of the Pope Francis Generation podcast, popefrancisgeneration.com, and a co-founder of Practical Kerygma, practicalkerygma.com. For the past eight years, he has worked as a professional catechist and is currently working toward a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling. His long-term goal is to provide pastoral counseling for Catholics who have been spiritually abused. You can join him in mid-April for an upcoming workshop on Desiderio Desideravi. The workshop will help you understand and participate in the Mass as a life-giving encounter with God's relentless desire for you. By prayerfully reading and discussing what the Church actually teaches about the Mass, you will not only grow in your own love for the Eucharist but you will be more prepared to share that devotion with others. Along with myself and a small community of learners, you will come to see the Mass as the privileged place to encounter Jesus, experience his healing love, and be divinized, that is, as St. Augustine said, “become Christ himself.” This workshop is for anyone who wants to deepen their faith, including catechists, ministers, and clergy who want to enhance their ministry and connect with a supportive community of learners. Whether you're looking to renew your love for Jesus, find a deeper sense of belonging, or grow in your relationship with God, the Desiderio Desideravi workshop is the perfect opportunity for you. In this workshop, you will have: the freedom to participate as you want the opportunity to learn and grow within a small group a non-judgemental space that proclaims and invites, never imposes the skills to read and understand papal documents the chance to ask and discuss any questions that you have These workshops are open to everyone, but members of Father's Heart Academy will have access to them for half the price! In addition to studying Desiderio Desideravi in April, there will also be workshops on Pope Francis' life changing teaching about holiness, Gaudete et Exsultate this summer and the Church's newest social encyclical, Fratelli Tutti, this fall.
This week on A Podcast About Catholic Things, Eric (The Ambassador of Common Sense) and Dan (The Ambassador of Nonsense) discuss Pope Francis's latest letter to the faithful: Desiderio Desideravi… I desire to desire? The letter is Francis's thoughts on The Last Supper, and the way we participate in that (and in the crucifixion) - -the Mass. He is himself through much of the document, but surprisingly brilliant in other parts. It's almost as if he suffers schizophrenia. Also discuss, obviously, is the recent decision from the Supreme Court overturning Roe V Wade. In the news, inflation hits high in UK…. And everywhere else. UK finds Polio in sewage. Nike stops selling in Russia. NY starts Monkeypox clinic and distributes vaccines. Senate passes gun control measures. Paul Fahey, co-founder of Where Peter Is, speaks on the new apostolic letter "Desiderio Desideravi" by Pope Francis. Full Eucharistic Summit YouTube Playlist
In Pope Francis' Apostolic Letter he addresses the “art of celebrating” – the ars celebrandi, in Latin. He writes that celebrating the Liturgy is an art, and that all of us need to master that art. In other words, we don't mindlessly “go through the motions” of the Liturgy. Rather, we are called to enter into the liturgy with full conscientiousness and awareness. Hosts Timothy Johnston, Danielle Noe and Todd Williamson discuss and explore the “art of celebrating the Liturgy.”

In our continuing exploration of Pope Francis' Apostolic Letter, Desiderio Desideravi, this broadcast of Focus on the Liturgy looks at the connection that the Liturgy has to Creation. Hosts Danielle Noe, Timothy Johnston and Todd Williamson discuss this theme of the Letter which was issued on June 29, 2022.
Our stories this week include: (1) The Pope's comments on retired Chinese Cardinal Joseph Zen, whose show trial was set to begin this week in Hong Kong but has been postponed to next week, as well as Francis' thoughts about his trip to Kazakhstan (specifically, the World Religions Congress); (2) approval for the "blessing" of homosexual unions by the Catholic bishops of Belgium and Archbishop Vigano's response; (3) an overview of the "U.S. National Synthesis," a document published by the USCCB which summarizes the results of the diocesan phase of the Synod on Synodality in the U.S.; (4) an encouraging report from France which shows that a significant number of French seminarians want the Traditional Latin Mass; and (5) a public correction of a grave error present in the Pope's latest Apostolic Letter, Desiderio Desideravi (on the Liturgical Formation of the People of God).

On the Solemnity of Ss Peter and Paul, June 29th, Pope Francis issued an Apostolic Letter, Desiderio Desideravi, On the Liturgical Formation of the People of God. He writes to all the faithful and addresses such themes as Jesus' deepest desire to share the Passover meal with each of us; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit's profound love for us, and how God encounters us in a most unique and powerful way in the Liturgy and in the Sacraments. Todd Williamson, Danielle Noe and Timothy Johnston discuss this document and give an overall introduction to it.

Dominic and Paul discuss Pope Francis's new Apostolic Letter, Desiderio Desideravi. This document, while a follow up on the regulations that the Holy Father put on the old Latin Mass last summer, is primarily a catechesis about God's desire for each one of us and how we can encounter him. The pope teaches that we really and truly encounter God—mediated through material symbols—in the liturgy, and through that encounter with him, he makes us divine. “‘I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.' (Lk 22:15) These words of Jesus, with which the account of the Last Supper opens, are the crevice through which we are given the surprising possibility of intuiting the depth of the love of the persons of the Most Holy Trinity for us” (Desiderio Desideravi, 2). https://www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/apost_letters/documents/20220629-lettera-ap-desiderio-desideravi.html SUBSCRIBE or JOIN THE COMMUNITY: popefrancisgeneration.com ABOUT POPE FRANCIS GENERATION Pope Francis Generation is the show for Catholics struggling with the Church's teaching, who feel like they might not belong in the Church anymore, and who still hunger for a God of love and goodness. Actualité du Pape 2022-06-30 -Desiderio desideravi by Radio Maria France
Scientists discover giant bacterium. 21 people found dead in bar. 46 people found dead in truck. New Orleans and Utah judges ban abortion bans, South Carolina judge lifts abortion ban. In the world of nonsense, Alexa to sound like dead relatives. Fashion show like you've never seen. Pope Francis gives advice to mums.
