Another time, another place. That time? 1984. That place? The movies! Where a rock & roll fable was born, yet no one watched it at the time. In America, anyway. In Japan, someone saw it. A few someones. A few someones, that would go on to make some of the coolest anime and video games around. Now, in 2025? It's the perfect time to go back to that another time, and another place. Join hosts Ellen and Lindsay as they welcome one of the animal welfare world's biggest advocates. E.G. Daily uses her voice both on screen and off, for some of Hollywood's most well-known characters. But her biggest mission is using her voice to have an impact and make change for the voiceless. Everywhere. And she's not afraid to use her celebrity platform in which to do so. In this episode: ⁃ How Ellen's 80's girl crush slid into the Deity DM's and inevitably ended up fostering - and saving the life of a tiny days-old puppy and her mama. ⁃ Hear how scooping cones at a Hollywood ice scream store introduced young E.G. to Chris DeRose and the world of frontline animal activism. ⁃ Talk of how a degree in veterinary school is not necessary to take on medical cases, but you definitely should honor your mama bear instincts. Don't miss out on this totally tubular episode. We're so glad you're here!
Zany. If you can define this film in one word, it's zany. Luke & Corrye take a trip down memory lane exploring a film that was a sensation then and a cult classic now. Who can forget Large Marge? The dancing sequence to "Tequila" in the biker bar? Pee-Wee calling out Amazing Larry in the basement presentation scene? So much to adore. And a large chunk is due to Tim Burton - and his rollicking creativity in his big-picture debut.

It was good news and bad news for Stock Aitken Waterman in mid-1988. On the upside, their run of hits continued with the next single for Kylie Minogue. After the runway success of "I Should Be So Lucky", Mike Stock and engineer Karen Hewitt were dispatched to Australia to record a follow-up — and we hear all about the meeting to convince Kylie to continue working with SAW after her shabby treatment in London, as well as the ups and downs of the recording sessions that ensued. Pete Hammond tells us about the earlier version of "Got To Be Certain" recorded by Mandy Smith, while David Howells explains how he commissioned music videos filmed in Australia — like the one for Kylie's single — from PWL in London. Another song SAW recorded with more than one vocalist is "Mind Over Matter", which was unfortunately not a success on the UK chart. That song's writer, Michael Jay, reveals why it went from a Debbie Harry track to being recorded and released by E.G. Daily — and he also talks about another PWL tune he wrote: "Cross My Heart" by Eighth Wonder. In more good news, Hazell Dean scored her next hit with "Maybe (We Should Call It A Day)", even if, as she explains, she wasn't that keen on the tune. And in bad news for music lovers: SAW worked with the England Football Team on a song that went all the way down the dumper.

Bassist Arthur Barrow had a dream and it came true. That dream was to one day play with Frank Zappa and in the late 70s that's exactly what happened. What might be more interesting is where he went from there. Imagine going from Zappa to Giorgio Moroder! Arthur began a long and fruitful partnership with Giorgio (and his stable of producers including Keith Forsey and Richie Zito) that took up much of the 80s. This put Arthur in position to work closely with artists like Donna Summer, Berlin, Billy Idol, Charlie Sexton, Joe Cocker and former guests Martha Davis, EG Daily, Joe Esposito, and Paul Engemann. Arthur is very transparent about the ups and downs of his career. In fact, he told his story in his memoir "Of Course I Said Yes!: The Amazing Adventures of a Life in Music". He tells us all of it and more. Enjoy! www.arthurbarrow.com

We’re, like, freaking out because Hollywood Suite archival producer and film programmer Alicia Fletcher is with us this week to talk about Martha Coolidge and her bitchin’ 1983 flick VALLEY GIRL! Listen in as we flip right out over this California-set riff on Romeo and Juliet, including its seriously cute cast (Deborah Foreman + Nic Cage 4 ever!), rad soundtrack (we melt for “I Melt with You”!), and totally tubular costumes. Why is this literally perfect movie not talked about as much as John Hughes’s entire (and, honestly, grody on reflection) filmography? The patriarchy can “Fuck off, fer sure! Like, totally!” We Really Like Her! is produced by Danita Steinberg and Emily Gagne, edited by Danita Steinberg, with a theme song by Emily Milling.

This episode is pretty much going to be a love letter to all the 80s and 90s kids out there. You probably know E.G. Daily best as the voice of Tommy Pickles in Rugrats, Buttercup in The Powerpuff Girls, or as Pee-wee Herman’s love interest in Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. Those iconic roles would be enough for a lifetime of bragging rights, but Daily has been working non stop in film, TV, music, and stage for more than four decades. In our conversation, Daily explains the process behind crafting a voice and why it’s so important to listen to your inner “hell yeahs” and “hell nos.”
EG Daily is known to millions upon millions of people as one of the voices of their childhood: Tommy Pickles from Rugrats, Buttercup in The Powerpuff Girls... but so far as Drew and Scott are concerned, the voices they know her from are from her appearance in '80s films like Streets of Fire, and Fandango, and Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains; let's not forget that one little independent art film called Pee Wee's Big Adventure, of course, and yes... she was in Wacko, too.
E.G. Daily (Rugrats, Powerpuff Girls, Babe: Pig in the City) joins host Rob Paulsen to talk about have an impact on someone's life, booking auditions, and singing while in character. Plus, Tommy Pickles and Dr. Scratchansniff learn the truth in a scene from A Few Good Men. Get access to the video portion ONE WEEK before the podcast by joining team Alpha!

A woman whose unmistakable voice you've no doubt heard, just maybe not in song (yet). How did she survive her busy 1985?
Yes, E.G. Daily has been an accomplished actor, voice over artist, and singer/songwriter for over 35 years, but to me she will always be the Queen of the 80s Movie Soundtrack. Her "unmistakable" voice can be heard in decade defining films like The Breakfast Club, Summer School, Scarface, and Better Off Dead, in which she also appeared. Plus, in addition to her own successful solo career, she's collaborated with artists like Giorgio Moroder, Jude Cole, Phil Oakey, Jellybean Benitez and the Cruzados. We discuss her many years in the business, the stories behind many of her songs, what she still wants to accomplish, and her greatest role - motherhood. Enjoy! https://egdaily.com/

Attack of the Killer Soundtrack - Episode 43 This week we welcome our special guest E.G. Daily! You may know her from Pee Wee's Big Adventure or Valley Girl or tons of other movies. Or maybe you know her from all of her music performances over the years. Or maybe her recent appearance on The Voice. Or maybe you just know her voice from Rugrats or The Powerpuff Girls or countless other animated characters. However you know Elizabeth Daily... you know she's talented. This week we sit down with her to discuss her career and along the way we build a soundtrack of not just her work but also songs from other movies she's been involved with over the years. And as we hit the clubs across the Sunset Strip, we discuss... Martha Coolidge, singing mice and Braveheart, I'm gonna get my daughter an agent, Michelle Pfeiffer, playing the song in my car, Tim Burton, keeping him in the real world, Sean and Chris Penn, working at Radio Shack, once you've planted that many seeds... for that many decades, things just start growing, tips, tools and how-tos, falling asleep on a bus, Diane Lane, if you don't have a waterbed in 1984... what kind of a loser are you, connected to the people and the experiences, it blew up, some weird, creepy-lookin'dude awkwardly straddling on a bed, coffee with Chainsaw, Eric Stoltz, has inflammation of the love, everytime you go to the dentist, I didn't just want to be a body in a scene, dancing with Jennifer Grey, hit that explosion and everything got swept up into that, learn from a master, I always had bands... 15, 16, the clothes, the hair, available on Laserdisc, singing with a hobo, going to high school with Nick Cage, Listen Closely and Hollywood is a very slippery place. "I picked up a guitar book when I was maybe 9... and started teaching myself to play guitar." For more on E.G. Seen this season in her career changing and groundbreaking return to the silver screen performing a moving rendition of Shania Twain's “Breathe” on NBC's “The Voice”(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lZdRdcLVgU)E.G. Daily stunned judges once they realized she was the star of iconic 80's cult classic movie PEE WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE, the voice of Tommy Pickles on Nickelodeon's hit cartoon “Rugrats”and the guest star of widely popular shows including the role of Leslie, Phoebes' ex-songwriting friend on “Friends”. The Los Angeles native started her career at an early age with roles on “Lavern and Shirley”, “Chips” and “Fame”. Deciding to focus on pursuing music during the 80's dance music explosion led by Madonna's producer Jelly Bean Benitez, she created 3 top 10 hits including “Say It, Say It” by Benitez which went #1 on the Billboard dance charts. E.G. has never stopped signing and has produced, composed and performed her own songs and being featured on over 30 film soundtracks includingSCARFACE (Al Pacino) and MY SISTER'S KEEPER (Cameron Diaz).
There comes that moment in all of our lives when the gods align and that magic we have been waiting for finally happens. That moment came for singer, voiceover artist, actress E.G. Daily on a recent Monday night when she made her appearance on NBC's THE VOICE and wowed the world with her astonishing rendition of Faith Hill's “Breathe.” E.G. Daily isn't a newcomer to show business. She was the star of 80s cult classic movie PEE WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE as Dottie, the voice of Tommy Pickles on Nickelodeon's hit cartoon RUGRATS and the guest star of widely popular shows, including the role of Leslie, Phoebes' ex-songwriting friend on FRIENDS. During the 80s dance music explosion, she created 3 top 10 hits which went #1 on the Billboard dance charts, and performed her own songs in over 30 film soundtracks including SCARFACE starring Al Pacino and MY SISTER'S KEEPER, the Cameron Diaz film. But did anyone know her name?If they didn't then, they soon will, thanks to that blessed moment on NBC's THE VOICE.
