Handsome, multi-talented actor Ben Mehl (“The Good Wife”) is starring in his first series regular role opposite Penn Badgley in Netflix's popular series “You” which returns for its highly-anticipated 3rd season. Developed by Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti, You is based on Caroline Kepnes' bestselling books You and Hidden Bodies. In the third season, Joe and Love are married and raising their newborn son, Henry, in the Californian suburb of Madre Linda. As their relationship dynamic takes a new turn, Joe continues to repeat the cycle of obsession with a burgeoning interest in Natalie, the next-door neighbor. This time, Love will flip the script to ensure that her dream of having the perfect family will not be torn away so easily by Joe's compulsive actions. Mehl plays the role of Dante, a confident, independent, but fallible human being who has found extraordinary ways to adapt and continues to be a librarian even after losing his sight. A veteran whose eyesight was damaged, Dante is a dedicated family man with a husband and two stepchildren who longs to expand his family, and delights in helping his friends with their children. Season 3 of YOU premieres on October 15th, 2021 on Netflix. Although Mehl plays a blind character, Mehl is not totally blind, he is legally blind. He was diagnosed with a rare genetic form of macular degeneration called Stargardt's disease which causes one to lose their central vision. He was told the condition was progressive and there was no treatment or cure and eventually his vision deteriorated to the point where he could no longer read normal sized text or recognize faces. This led him to rethink his career, but he came out of this deciding to not let this disease define him but would try his absolute best to learn what it meant to be an actor. In order to prepare for role as Dante, a blind character, Mehl trained with an orientation and mobility specialist to learn the proper techniques for using a white cane. At times, he felt like he was preparing for what his future may hold for him. He spent hours observing and taking notes outside a building for blind residents in New York and gained a deep appreciation for the skill it takes to navigate the world without sight. His character was inspired by Sera Gamble's godfather who was blind and created this character because she believed even those who are blind deserve to be represented. Recognizing his privilege within the community of not being completely blind, it was important for him to do his research and portray this character accurately. Born and raised in Toronto, Ben loved to perform at a young age. As a 4th grader, a teacher heard Mehl singing the national anthem at school and recommended he audition for Claude Watson School for the Arts, a public school that required an audition to be admitted. It was there where he explored drama, music, dance, and was an active student joining the swim team, four different choirs, and school shows in addition to being passionate about science and space. He graduated from the University of Toronto where he double majored in Astrophysics and Drama. He proceeded to audition for acting schools and was accepted to NYU's Graduate Acting Program and Julliard and eventually choosing to attend NYU for his MFA. Mehl is best known for his work in “The Good Wife” and has much experience performing in regional theater in New York and Shakespeare in the Park. In addition to acting, Mehl is also teaching acting, voice and movement for actors in NYC. He has taught Movement and Shakespeare's Clowns at the NYU Graduate Acting Program, where he received his MFA and teaches Voice and Movement, Physical Characterization and Combat at the New York Film Academy and has also taught at The Public Theater, Red Bull Theater, the Refugee Youth Summer Academy, the New School and as a private coach. Fun fact: Mehl is an extremely talented beatboxer! Tarah Who? Well, “she” equals “they,” and “they're” a power duo masterminded by grunge-punk sage Tarah Carpenter, a firebrand front-woman who channels explosive emotionality into rousing anthems. “I'm really sensitive to things that happen around me, and I love studying psychology and human behavior,” Tarah shares. “When I write, I seek to process personal stories and news stories through these perspectives, but in a way that's relatable to everyone.” Tarah exudes a spiritual centeredness that is poetically aligned to the origins of her name. The name “Tara” in Buddhist lore refers to the “mother of liberation,” an apt archetypal reference for such a strong and shamanistic female artist. Tarah Who? recalls 1990s alt-rock and grunge's tradition of balancing integrity with tuneful song-craft. Entries in the Tarah Who? oeuvre sit nicely alongside Alanis Morissette, Foo fighters, The Distillers, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Spinerette. Tarah Who? is a in every sense of the phrase, bonded together by telepathic musical interplay and profound interpersonal connections. In addition to Tarah, drummer/backing vocalist Coralie Hervé. Previously, Tarah Who? has released two full-lengths, three EPs, and one single of raw punky rock n' roll. The duo's output has garnered plaudits and earned feature-story coverage from GIG Radar, Kill The Music, La Grosse Radio, Loud Stuff, Moshville, Music Connection, Muzak, and The Ring Master, among other outlets. It's a remarkable feat for an unsigned band to make such waves in the biz, but Tarah Who?'s incendiary live shows and snarling sing-alongs are hard to ignore. Even alt-pop goddess Alanis Morissette's guitarist Jason Orme has given a big stamp approval to the group, co-producing and playing guitar alongside Tarah on the recently released EP's, Half Middle Child Syndrome,64Women and the single to be release in November 2019 Pantomath. With a stable lineup, and a dynamic rhythm section that can effortlessly shift from scorched-earth rock to tender balladry, the duo is embarking on a halcyon era ushered in by its current EP, 64 Women. Tarah was born in France and began smashing away at the drums at just 14, ignoring those around her who suggested she try her hand at a more “ladylike” musical pursuit. Willful, and somewhat stubborn, she honed her chops, forged her own creative path, and branched out to bass, guitar, singing, songwriting, and producing (she produces the band's music). After a fateful move to Los Angeles, Tarah made her solo debut as Tarah Who? at a warehouse party. It was a gig she found on Craigslist, and it proved to be the perfect opportunity to share the songs she had been writing privately. Up next, the duo will be promoting the new single, Pantomath and coming back from their tour, they will be working on a new EP. The Ladies of Tarah Who? Are fired up, inspired, and tighter as friends and musicians. Inclosing, drummer Coralie Herve offers this final thought: “When I first met Tarah, it floored me how bold she is; I felt this exuberance and fire from her. It reminded me of why I play music in the first place.” Follow us on IG and Facebook: @societytalkspodcast Follow Joe: @joe_lorenzo Podcast edit by: @elevig #StaySafe #StayCreative #SocietyPerformers ARE #AloneTogether #SocietyTalks #JoeLorenzo #SocietyEntertainment

Gino McKoy is the Director & Screenwriter behind this year's upcoming breakout sci-fi film, LUMINA, the first-ever Sci-Fi movie filmed entirely in Morocco and stars Golden Globe nominee Eric Roberts, Ken Lawson, and Eleanor Williams. According to the film's Academy Award-winning editor Thom Noble, “McKoy's eye for detail and recollection of shots and angles is exactly like that of Ridley Scott." Gino envisioned and created entirely new Sci-Fi worlds and was extremely agile and experimental in building his massive and jaw-dropping film sets. LUMINA is bold, cerebral, and distinctive from your standard alien movie fare. The story follows a young college graduate whose girlfriend vanishes in a blinding flash of light. Determined to find her at any cost, he is drawn into a dangerous, otherworldly web of distortions as he seeks to discover the truth behind her disappearance. Gino wanted to make LUMINA in Africa, and between its deserts and mountain landscapes, Morocco established itself as the perfect filming location. Filmed during the Covid pandemic, the director and his team's production facilities landed in Marrakech last October, and filming lasted 5 months. Nearly 250 Moroccans worked as technical staff or as extras. Falling under the spell of the city and the diverse landscapes of southern Morocco, the choice of Morocco was symbolic for Gino, because being from the Caribbean his country shares many similarities with Africa. Gino found in Africa the landscapes and places he dreamed of for his film including the sumptuous desert of Agafay, the Atlas Mountains, and the majestic backdrops of Ouarzazate. The dynamic and ambitious Gino McKoy is looking forward to bringing his first feature film to theatres worldwide later this year and is excited to speak with you to share for the first time the film and behind-the-scenes moments of what it took to get it made. After her father underwent a medical crisis, Aneesa, who was living with him at the time, turned the tough time into triumph by founding a non-profit organization, “Music4M.I.R.A.C.L.E.” that aims to spread music therapy. Aneesa describes herself as a proactive, strategic, and highly ambitious person, but also a compassionate and faithful friend, which is parallel to the literal definition of the name “Aneesa”. Music has the power to transport us to another time and place. Aneesa loves to harness that power with a broad audience of fellow music lovers and passionate musicians alike. Ever since a young age, Aneesa has found great joy and satisfaction in making music and sharing it with fans and people all over the world. Starting from the ripe age of eight years old, Aneesa fell in love with her sister skating to Santana’s, “Black Magic Women”. That was the impetus of her wanting to play electric guitar. Soon after she began taking lessons on a classical ¾ sized guitar and joined the youth choir. Every chance Aneesa got to perform in front of others she took, even if it was playing “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin in a neon green ankle cast at her 5th-grade talent show. At the age of fourteen, she began to song write on her grandfather’s twelve-string guitar. Soon after writing her first three songs, she was invited to perform on the “Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour” in Lexington, KY. From there on she turned her passion for music to her purpose in life. Aneesa attended IMTA (International Model and Talent Association Convention in New York thee summer of 2019) where she won “Most Sought after Female Talent” and a scholarship to record an original song. After winning the title of Miss Michigan Teen USA 2020 she released her debut single, “Bad Thing” in January of 2020. Ryan "Bubba" Ginnetty, (director, production manager, and comedian) joins us on Society Talks to talk about his company, InCrowd, to keep live show comedy alive in the new pandemic normal. With tours cancelled, stay at home orders issued and social distancing changing the landscape of live concerts and comedy shows/performances for both fans and performers, one man is introducing a solution without leaving the comfort of home. Ryan “Bubba” Ginnetty launched a Los Angeles-based immerse innovative experience - "InCrowd", an original multimedia concept that creates an interactive stage where performers can interact via Zoom with fans who are safely at home. This allows the performers to see, feel and laugh with the audience which is a key element to stage performances. Comedians Drew Lynch (NBC’s “America’s Got Talent”) and "Comedy Central’s" James Davis are amongst the performers participating in the experience. Each LIVE virtual even can hold up to 50,00 General Admission attendees and 300 VIP Wall participants who will be displayed on screen and heard virtually anywhere in the world. Ginnetty's pandemic proof solution was to combine his stage and lighting design skillset and partner with Zoom to create "The Wall." VIP fans are shown to the performer via a 360-degree video wall during their performance, streamed LIVE over Zoom. Ginnetty designed 'The Wall' so that it is curved around the performer to simulate a surround-sound audience. The Wall projects up to 300 VIP participants who can see, hear and interact with the talent and other members of the audience. Each show is directed live and controlled by an in-studio broadcast and production team allowing for an ultra-high-quality multimedia stage show. When Ginnetty has time off from traveling around the world producing shows for DJ Snake, French Montana, and Zeds Dead, he is also a part-time stand-up comedian. With his background in comedy and stage/touring production, he meshed his two passions together to create InCrowd’s first production “The Secret Comedy Show,” a weekly comedy series/stand-up featuring comedy legends like Sarah Silverman, Drew Lynch, Damon Wayans, Bryan Callen, Taylor Tomlinson, Tone Bell, Ron Funches, Brad Williams, Iliza Shlesinger and Reggie Watts. This partnership has allowed InCrowd to sell out audience from all around the world, and they have already reached more than 7.5 million impressions. InCrowd Entertainment unifies the latest technology in live streaming and stage production with comedians, musicians, theatre productions and more that thrive in a live audience setting. From live studio performances and talk shows to concerts and theatre, InCrowd is the new way to experience live entertainment from the comfort of your home. Only acting for a few years, bilingual French-born actor and music composer, Manas, is a rising star who is ready to take on Hollywood. It wasn’t until the first Harry Potter film came out that he fell in love with cinema, watching it over and over again. At the age of 17 he moved to Lyon, France for marketing and business school. Shortly after the move he was discovered on the street for acting and got his first taste of the entertainment world when he was cast for a small part in an independent film – falling in love but not quite yet knowing how to break into the industry. After school he took a corporate job in marketing that he hated and when a talent agency based in India cold called him, he jumped at the chance to work in film again. He made the move to India where he immersed himself in the Bollywood industry, building his acting resume. After two years living and working in India, he returned to France in 2018 to tap back into French cinema. While in France, he booked the lead role in the award-winning short film OUT OF FRAME/ HORS CHAMP, for which he also won numerous acting awards including “Best Performance of Fest” at the Actors Awards Los Angeles, “Best Actor” at the Alternative Film Festival, and “Best Actor” at the Top Shorts Film Festival. He was also cast in the film LA BONHEUR DES UNS (A FRIENDLY TALE) opposite well-renowned actor Vincent Cassel (“Westworld,” BLACK SWAN), and Academy Award, Golden Globe, and SAG Award-nominated actress Bérénice Bejo (THE ARTIST). The film follows a group of lifelong friends whose loyalties to each other are unexpectedly tested. When Manas is not working in front of the camera as an actor, he is composing music behind the scenes. With an outside-the-box almost Hans Zimmer-like approach to music composition, his work has garnered him some impressive projects including FAST & FURIOUS 8. Manas currently lives in France where he practices a spiritual life of meditation and gratitude.
