Here are some words from a Wise Old Man.... That's me. The wise old man. Debatable about "wise" I suppose XD But I just turned 31 this past weekend. (merry goddamn birthday me!) Now to some of you, that's really friggin old. To others, that's actually pretty damn young. And to others, well you might just be around the same age and in the same boat. I'll tell you what, it's a weird age. Being in your thirties. Because I'm young enough to still be considered "young" by the majority of the "adult world". But I'm old enough to be considered literally freaking ancient by kids. Anyway, I'm writing to you today because I've been reflecting lately about this whole little process of aging here. And trust me, it's not really something you think about until you're "old enough." Ya know aging is something inevitable. It's something we look forward to as a kid and something we resent about once we actually hit that age. Kinda funny. But I'm at the point now where I look back a decade and think to myself "Man, that doesn't seem TOO long ago." Ten years, buddy. That's a long time. But it's weird. One day you're just a kid playing on the street. The next you're adult full of "sponserbilities" as Tommy Pickles would say. Life will pass you by and you may reach an age or point in your life where you're like "how in the hell did I end up here?" Like, what actually fucking happened? And you'll look back at some days with nostalgia, thinking to yourself "ahh, yeah I remember the good ole days." You know what the good ole days were? Sippin' Capri Sun, trading Pokemon cards, and eating Fruit Roll Ups and Warheads. At least that was my childhood anyway. You probably have yours and can at least relate to the sentiment. or maybe it was playing board games in the college dorm 'til 3 in the morning, showing up to class in PJs late, as usual. Oh the memories! But ya know, we look back at times in our lives and wish we could go back. I mean I don't care what age you are. I mean unless you're like under fifteen, maybe, there's some "era" of your life you look back upon with nostalgia. And if you really think about where this nostalgia is coming from, it's coming from the sense that you were actually ALIVE during those moments. You were actually LIVING. We go through the motions, day in and day out. Having the same conversations with the same people during the same days of the week at the same place. Life can become boring, so mundane. We get trapped in this "boredom prison" called "adulthood. But adulthood doesn't have to be boring. And at that, getting old doesn't have to be a miserable experience. Sure, we have a lot more responsibilities on our plate. But that just means you gotta take care of yourself. That doesn't mean you can't have fun. That doesn't mean you can't "play". Play, yeah, that's something you did as a kid, remember? Oh yeah, those were the good ole days, huh? You know why? Let me tell you something. Most people die by the age of 27 and are just buried in the ground by the time they hit their 80s. You see what I'm saying, man? Do you? The only reason "the good ole days" are the good ole days is because that was a time you were actually doing this cool thing called LIVING. You gotta take it slow, man. Life is short and if you let it rush on by, you'll miss all the really cool moments. The good ole days weren't back then. They weren't in the past. The good ole days are NOW. They're happening NOW. Right here, right now. Take life slow. One step, one moment at a time. And I guarantee you, age will just be a number. Nostalgia for the 90s has been creeping up a lot lately with so many reboots and remakes going around. So we're here to take you back to our own childhoods to relive some of the good ol' days. First, we're covering the adventurous antics of the tiny tots known as the Rugrats. Then, we head out to the cul-de-sac to hang with the radically righteous dudes and dudettes of Rocket Power. Rugrats (0:50) - When one-year-old, Tommy Pickles, sets his mind to something, he won't stop until he's achieved his goal. Along with his three best pals and (sometimes) his older cousin, Angelica, an ordinary task becomes the adventure of a lifetime. Rocket Power (40:00) - Living near the beach as a kid means you've got a lot of different sports to choose from growing up. But why choose one when you can choose them all. With all kinds of energy and a new squid to join the squad, nothing will stop these kids from having a totally bodacious time! Ashley, Jared, and baby Tommy Pickles (we'll explain) are on the mic today to talk pregnancy updates, their soon-to-launch business together, and get into this week's double dose of Bachelor in Paradise! Consider this episode the start of a very long baby shower, as Aunt Kaitlyn gets ready to welcome Ashley and Jared's baby boy. Even though pregnancy hasn't exactly been smooth sailing for the couple, Ashley reveals why she loves Jared more than ever and why she thinks Jason is definitely going to ace the dad game. We all know that the beaches of Paradise are VERY meaningful to our guests, so they, along with KB, have plenty to say about what happened on our screens this week between exes, new romances, and clout chasers. One thing is for sure: no one on Paradise or any season of the franchise can begin to compare to Kaitlyn's group of men. Ashley, Jared, and Kaitlyn then enter confession territory where we find out what goes into conceiving a baby and how they themselves were conceived wayyy back in the day, because we're all old enough to know *NSYNC's first album over here. Nate and Mitch are Friends Episode 46!Thank you for taking the time to hear two friends talk for an extended period of time and also for reading this overview. On today's episode, Nate and Mitch discuss some tasty brews that Nate is sippin' on. Nate has never fully watched a fast and furious movie. Sylvester Stallone, his movies, and a possible lost son(?) or at the very least look-a-like get brought up based on the more distinct features of him. Tommy Pickles quotes and inventiveness gets talked about for a total of probably 3 seconds which leads into Nate's new tattoo and Mitch thinking about maybe starting to think about getting a new one. Novelty vehicles in the form of Oscar Meyer mobile and the Planter's peanut mobile get discussed. Nate tells an extremely dumb and over complex joke. For the majority of the rest of the ep, the boys talk about poop, pee, and puke. Normal every day talk for them. Things end with an appreciation for Stone Cold Steve Austin and his IPA. Again, thank you for listening. It's much appreciated! Peace and love to you all!**New episodes every Friday at 10am CST**Follow us on social mediaTwitter - @Nate_And_Mitch https://twitter.com/Nate_And_MitchInstagram - @nateandmitcharefriends https://www.instagram.com/nateandmitcharefriends/Facebook - @nateandmitcharefriends https://www.facebook.com/nateandmitcharefriends
This week TV addicts Schmee and Riker review the pilot of Rugrats, "Tommy's First Birthday" (Nickelodeon/Paramount+). We discuss how well it did in defining the genre/conventions of the show, introducing its characters, how well it informed the series plot, and how well it hooked us to watch more! Delayed Replay has finally covered a DreamWorks movie. My friend Kelsey Gitlin from the Just Two Lads Podcast (you may have heard the other lad Andres on this show) joined me for this momentous occasion. The movie is The Boss Baby: Family Business. How does it compare to the first film? What did we think of the voice actor change? What about the soundtrack overall? Is there enough heart for people to appreciate? Listen and find out! Show Notes: 12:15 - Tobey Maguire is turning 46 on June 27. 14:15 - E.G. Daily is the voice of Tommy Pickles, but Kelsey was referring to Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Chuckie Finster. Check out the masterclass video ad on YouTube. 16:30 - I neglected to mention that The Boss Baby, like Shrek, is loosely based on a picture book. It was written by Marla Frazee and published in 2010. 19:30 - It's called The Boss Baby: Get That Baby! It came out after season 3 and features the villains of those seasons. 21:00 - I could not figure out whether "First Baby," "First Son," or "First Daughter" are official titles. They certainly don't seem widely used. Apparently there are two unrelated films titled First Daughter from 1999 and 2004. 21:40 - Chandler Bing from Friends works in statistical analysis and data reconfiguration. 26:00 - The Boss Baby might take place in the late 1970s. Given the music used in the sequel, it is possible that Family Business may have anachronisms depending on when it's supposed to take place. 26:20 - Here's a post about The Incredibles being set in the 1960s at Oh My Disney. 30:45 - The original The Lion King was rated G, whereas the remake was rated PG. 32:00 - The app is RunPee, and it seems to still be available. 32:30 - What's After The Credits? 35:05 - Check out the Black Widow episode of Delayed Replay. 35:20 - Check out Improv Revolution. 48:45 - I think there are actually about 40 Kidz Bop albums. 49:55 - Chris Klemens' YouTube channel 50:10 - Chris Klemens' Spotify playlist is titled Now That's What I Call Vibezz. Ali discusses the second Rugrats theatrical film, Rugrats in Paris: The Movie. She reminisces about seeing it in theaters, sharing her love of all the heartfelt moments and the addition of new characters to the Rugrats family. What’s up fellow emos. My name is Skyler. I’m your average non-college-educated self-proclaimed Marxist, radicalized by SoCal Hardcore and Tommy Pickles. The current president of ANTIFA, please don’t tell the FBI. I have an endless supply of knowledge on music, movies, video games, and politics. I hope to turn that drive of curiosity into something constructive, maybe a degree? Who knows, but for now I’ll just take really bad pictures with my expensive camera, and yell at whatever screen I’m looking at about things I’m passionate about while I sip on whatever local craft beer I stumbled upon. If you wanna hear me rant or review music(yeah I do that sometimes) follow me on the Internet! Twitter: xsadxdadx Instagram: sadxdad
A badly mixed coffee with the viscosity of PAINT sends our host into the stratosphere for an all-round silly billy affair. THIS WEEK ON THE POD we're chatting through school days (mine and yours!) old toys ads, and the single funniest moment I can remember. As well as that a SPECIAL GUEST Political Twitch Commentator joins for a roast of Tommy Pickles in the PLAYHOUSE; Donald Dump.
Episode 386 of On Screen & Beyond - E G Daly is known for her many voice over roles such as the voice of Tommy Pickles on "The Rugrats", but she also was a contestant on "The Voice", "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" and she was one of the singers on the theme song of "Two and a Half Men"! E G also has other things she shares! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/on-screen-and-beyond/message
