Our guest today is Leta Herman, an Alchemical Healer, Chinese Medicine teacher, author and host of the Inspired Action Podcast. Leta has immersed herself in the philosophies of Daoism, Alchemical Healing, and Chinese Medicine for over twenty years. A long-time student of Master Jeffrey Yuen, an 88th generation Daoist priest, she is also a graduate of Eliot Cowan's Plant Spirit Medicine studies program. Additionally, Leta has studied extensively with teachers and former students of J.R. Worsley, who brought Five Element Acupuncture to England in the 1960s. In this episode we discuss the fascinating evolution of Chinese Medicine in today's world and how the practice emphasizes our elemental constitution. We learn about the distinctions between TCM, Classical, and Five Element approaches. Leta shares her own transformative journey from skepticism to deep healing, and how her battle with endometriosis led her to embrace Daoist philosophies. We explore innovative healing approaches like the non-needling needle technique in acupuncture and the use of the Ghost Points for mental health treatment. Leta emphasizes the need for practitioners to create a safe and non-judgmental space for healing, recognizing that illness can often be seen as a choice between potential or pathology. This perspective encourages a shift in how we view and approach healing, fostering a deeper understanding of the complex interplay between physical, emotional, and spiritual health. From clearing "chaotic energy" to the nine stages of alchemy for personal transformation, don't miss out on this rich discussion that seamlessly blends ancient wisdom with modern healing practices. As founder of the Alchemy Healing Center, a Chinese Medicine teaching clinic in the USA, Leta is dedicated to helping clients find their true potential through Alchemical transformation. She describes her practice as “very unique and diverse, focusing on ancient Chinese healing practices that are largely unknown today in the Western culture.” A Smith College graduate and past nationally syndicated journalist, Leta is a world explorer who speaks multiple languages, loves life and her family.letaherman.comalchemyhealingcenter.comLiked what you heard? Plant Spirits present themselves to us everywhere. Eliot Cowan invites us to discover the healing power of plants―not merely their physical medicinal properties, but the deeper wisdom and gifts that they offer.“Plant spirit medicine works partially because it has broad perspective. It does not look only through the eyes of physics and chemistry; it sees human beings as expressions of divine natural forces. It plumbs the human mind and emotions. It gives paramount importance to spirit, the mysterious core of our lives.” Eliot CpwanFrom the Archives: This live interview was recorded on June 29, 1996 on the nationally syndicated radio program, hosted by Laura Lee . On episode 42 I talked with one of my personal training clients Chris Griffin. For over 20 years, Chris has been studying and performing plant spirit medicine for clients seeking deep, spiritual healing. On his own journey for healing and enlightenment, he found that this practice aided him greatly not only with some physical imbalances in his body, but also his feelings of low self esteem and self value. He also described how we are all human, and being imbalanced is a huge part of that. I started this podcast so that I could practice consistency and pay daily attention to the goals I have set for my life, and part of that includes learning and imparting insights to you and the listener from others who have gone before us. I greatly enjoyed having this conversation and I'm sharing the pieces of it that I found held the most value. I've provided a lot of great resources below to learn more if there are parts of this podcast that you would like to explore further. There are two goals of plant spirit medicine that we discussed in the beginning of our conversation and those are: 1. To find spiritual connection in the natural world 2. To help people that are in need. What is Wu Wei? What is it to be your true self, be your element...but then can you be more than that? What a powerful discussion I had with Leta Herman from Inspired Action Podcast & the Alchemy Learning Center. We discuss what is this concept of Alchemy, how past trauma can impact us and who we are, and help us to transcend to our true self and even beyond that into a Sage. We have this Women's Circle, a group of women connected through the cannabis industry that supports each other. We were going to have a big ole gathering with weed and food to talk about this book. Eliot Cowan writes about his long journey to understanding the mystery of how plant spirits heal. It was affirming to us to hear the stories of the healers. We couldn't hold the gathering of course but four of us met on Zoom, new reader Brandi Alexander!!! and loved the book. The wonderful and wise Merri Walters from Great Lakes Sacred Essences of Ann Arbor joined us, who is like a walking talking version of the book. Now is the time for everyone to read this and to remember how we are alllll connected. The karmic balance of the world needs our attention, outside and inside of our bodies. This should be required reading right now to get our minds ready for a shift towards looking at healing in a 'whole new'-OLD-way. I've been embracing this mystery and trying to get to know the plants around me much better. Thank you plants.

Plants, trees, rain, lightning and the Chinese elements (like water, metal, earth) are each represented by a consciousness. These may appear through meditation or dreaming in human, animal, insect or other form. Healing an imbalance or lack of a certain element in a person’s spiritual make-up and life can help a person become well and whole again without addressing the illness itself. The author says that is ordinary, and that all of us can learn to do what he does. Author Eliot Cowan does training at the Blue Deer Center in New York state. This lecture is Part 4 of 4 parts.
