Hi, friends! We've been working hard this month getting back into the swing of things. We spent four days vending at various markets this month and March and April are slated to be busy as well. We also had the official grand opening of our farm store in Hotchkiss and it's been so amazing to connect with people in person when they come in to browse our teas and other herbal products!  We're getting ready to jump on our next project, which is getting the greenhouse built next month! We're also getting some seeds going indoors in the meantime, and then they'll move out to the greenhouse which we hope to have done by mid-April at the latest. This will let us get a HUGE jump on the growing season, as we can't really put many plants outside until the end of May.  And as we wait for spring to arrive, I'm having fun editing some of the great interviews I've had time to record these last couple months, including today's wonderful convo with Lisa Fazio. Lisa is an Irish/Italian American folklore witch, herbalist, and astrologer, as well as the mother of 4 children and Nonna to 2 grandchildren.  Her principal training is in Traditional Western Herbalism, Western Astrology, and the folk ways of her Italian immigrant family. The primary focus of her work is ancestral revival and remembrance within the Italian diaspora as well as with anyone who longs for ancestral connection. She has an academic background in Psychology and Ethnobotany as well as years of study and practice in the traditions of Trika Shaivism and Plant Spirit Medicine. She is also a tracker, a wilderness first responder and has spent 20 years working as a clinical and community herbalist.  I'm so honored to have gotten to chat with Lisa about her book, Della Medicina: The Tradition of Italian-American Folk Healing. We had such a wonderful conversation and one thing I really want to emphasize is that you don't need to be of Italian heritage to get a ton of value out of Lisa's work! So much of what she shares crosses different cultures and backgrounds and I hope this will inspire you to dive into your own ancestry as well. Grab your own copy of Della Medicina! Connect with Jill: Instagram * Substack * Website ~*~*~*~*~*~ Our farm shop is full of goodies for you! We have two new offerings in the shop -- our Hot Italian Seasoning, and our Tummy Mender Tea. Our seasonal Lymph Love vinegar is also back in stock to guide us smoothly out of winter and into early spring over the next few months. Your support helps us to keep growing, literally and figuratively

A long-time student of Master Jeffrey Yuen, an 88th generation Daoist priest, she is also a graduate of Eliot Cowan's Plant Spirit Medicine studies program. Additionally, Leta has studied extensively with teachers and former students of J.R. Worsley, who brought Five Element Acupuncture to England in the 1960s. We learn about the distinctions between TCM, Classical, and Five Element approaches. Leta shares her own transformative journey from skepticism to deep healing, and how her battle with endometriosis led her to embrace Daoist philosophies. We explore innovative healing approaches like the non-needling needle technique in acupuncture and the use of the Ghost Points for mental health treatment. Leta emphasizes the need for practitioners to create a safe and non-judgmental space for healing, recognizing that illness can often be seen as a choice between potential or pathology. This perspective encourages a shift in how we view and approach healing, fostering a deeper understanding of the complex interplay between physical, emotional, and spiritual health. From clearing "chaotic energy" to the nine stages of alchemy for personal transformation, don't miss out on this rich discussion that seamlessly blends ancient wisdom with modern healing practices. As founder of the Alchemy Healing Center, a Chinese Medicine teaching clinic in the USA, Leta is dedicated to helping clients find their true potential through Alchemical transformation. They urged everyone to take a moment to smell the oregano and describe their experiences. They ultimately recognized the importance of stewardship and the function of vegetation in the natural world. Louise then delves into the chemistry of oregano oil, emphasizing its high carbocall and other phenol content, which provides anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic qualities. Louise also highlighted their findings from a meditation with oregano oil, emphasizing its powerful, circulating sun energy and its advantages for working with the shadow self and lighting dark regions. Oregano in Chinese Medicine: Properties and Uses Ariana talked about the qualities and use of oregano in Chinese medicine. They emphasized its pungent, bitter, and warming properties, which contribute to its capacity to eliminate heat from the heart, spleen, stomach, kidneys, and bladder, as well as to dry up excess moisture and disperse stagnation. They went on to talk about its antioxidant properties and its role in detoxifying animal proteins in cooking. She also offers wisdom on the value of connecting with the plants that grow directly around us, and how plants teach us how to relate better to people and all life. We first recorded this conversation for the Plant Spirit Herbalism Summit. And in the wake of the recent Hurricane Fiona, we are sharing it here today as part of a GoFundMe fundraiser that will allow Olatokunboh to stay in her home in Boriké (Puerto Rico), which is a foundational place for healing and herbal teachings that support so many. This will in turn allow her to rebuild her healing gardens from the recent devastation of Hurricane Fiona and continue to serve as a pillar of healing and Afro-indigenous herbal teachings for both the local and global healing community. Olatokunboh Obasi MSc, RH (AHG), CNS is a Clinical Herbalist & Educator, and founder of the Well of Indigenous Wisdom school for herbal medicine and African cosmology. She's the Boriké (Puerto Rico) Coordinator for Herbalists without Borders International, and up for elections as a Board Member for the American Herbalists Guild. She's also the Owner of Omaroti, a wellness shop for wellbeing, and the visionary founder for the upcoming Caribbean Herbal Symposium. Her devotion is to serve humanity and care-take the earth. Olatokunboh's home in Mayagüez is the foundation for the healing work, herbal gardens, apothecary, and teachings that support so many people in the local and global community. In the recent Hurricane Fiona, her home was damaged and the healing gardens she has invested so much in, were devastated.
