En el programa Plaza Pública, el presidente del Observatorio de Riesgos y Accidentes, Javier Larrea, ha alertado sobre la imposibilidad de sofocar los incendios en coches eléctricos. Una incidencia que en un garaje de Alcorcón se ha cobrado la vida de dos bomberos y ha dejado 14 heridos, uno de ellos muy grave. Javier Larrea cree que las baterías de litio acabarán prohibiéndose.El incendio mortal se desató en el interior de un garaje de Alcorcón cuando un vecino tuvo un accidente y su coche eléctrico empezó a arder. Uno de los bomberos logró rescatar al conductor, pero a los pocos minutos, un "dardo térmico" provocó que la puerta del garaje cayera, segando el cable que les proporcionaba oxígeno.La intensa humareda, además, impedía que pudiesen encontrar la salida y la falta de aire hizo que se desmayaran y fallecieran dos de ellos, de 27 y 34 años. Larrea recuerda que los bomberos no tienen tecnología para apagar los incendios de las baterías de litio. Unos dispositivos que, a su juicio, deberían prohibirse.

Bees run the gamut from generalists to specialists. Whereas the generalists visit a variety of plants for the resources they need, many specialists exist on a single species. Such is the case for at least 20 different bees living in Southwestern North America who specialize on the pollen of the creosote bush (Larrea tridentata). In geologic terms, creosote is a relative newcomer to the Southwest and trying to understand how so many bee species have come to specialize on its pollen and how differences in flowering phenology across its range affect their lifecycle has been a mainstay of Dr. Bob Minckley's career.
