In this episode I go on a Style Journey with the English TV personality and Co-Founder of the wellness app Shoorah, the inimitable Ferne McCann.  Ferne first became a public figure when she appeared in the hit reality series The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE) for no less than 9 series... She quickly became one of the standout stars on the show and led to her appearing on ITV's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, plus having her own ITVBe series, Ferne McCann: First Time Mum (2018) which later became Ferne McCann: My Family & Me. The show marked Ferne as one of the most trusted and relatable celebrity mums. In addition to her TV career, Ferne has become a successful entrepreneur, collaborating with premium global brands in the fashion, lifestyle, and wellness industries. Her influence on social media reflects her dedication to health, self-care, and family, inspiring her followers with a positive, relatable approach to modern motherhood. Ferne co-founded Shoorah, the wellness app that promotes personal growth & mental health. It is now one of the most successful apps in that genre. Ferne's healthy ambition for a new challenge saw her compete on Dancing on Ice in 2025, adding a new chapter to her career. Ferne is a true Essex girl born and bred and I ask her if she is stereotypical ... that is for you to discover...As such a well known star on Social Media I ask her how she deals with the inevitable trolling that comes with the profile and she offers a valuable and practical insight as to how she protects herself...in fact how we can all protect ourselves if we so choose. One of the things that is very endearing about Ferne is that she doesn't take herself too seriously, although she does admit to being "very competitive"... she laughs about her early elimination from Dancing on Ice and how her grandfather blamed it all on her choosing to be a Troll for the dance...however she was clearly blown away by the creativity of the costume team.Ferne clearly has a tight knit team around her including her mother, her "style icon". She bemoans the fact that social media has perhaps made us all less creative and more inclined to question our own tastes and follow the pack...to the extent of making us believe that we want something because we see it so frequently on different feeds...social media drives you to follow rather than stick with your own personal style...there is some truth in that...it certainly is the quickest way for brands to reach the widest audience possible now.She has been very open about her post-partum journey and how she has been an advocate for breast feeding, and continuing to breast feed. She understands that this can be a divisive subject but she is also very aware of the support it gives to many women at a similar point in their lives. We discuss the aging process, tweakments and her well documented rhinoplasty (nose job)... and the dilemma of staying totally true to herself and her audience yet being tempted to  "fix" her boobs post breast feeding... she is refreshingly transparent on the whole subject. She is about to start her own podcast called Every Cloud, to talk about trauma and people's stories inspired by her own life and how "when you are in the thick of trauma it often bumps you into the right direction"...very true. Finally we had a properly hilarious disconnect moment in the Quick Fires when I ask her whether she preferred Boyfriends or Wide Legs...of course I was referring to her choice of jeans ...Ferne, on the other hand thought I was referring to Ahem something completely different...!I hope you enjoy this episode. Ferne first rose to fame on The Only Way Is Essex and has since appeared on shows like I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and Dancing on Ice.  Ferne talks candidly about the hormonal changes she experienced during and after pregnancy, and how breathwork learned through hypnobirthing helped her stay calm and manage stress during childbirth. She also opens up about how pushing herself beyond her comfort zone - whether learning to skate for Dancing on Ice or taking part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, has strengthened her resilience and confidence. She reflects on the value of embracing challenges and aims to inspire curiosity and courage in her daughters while continuing to embrace these qualities herself.  Their conversation then turns to perimenopause, with Louise explaining how fluctuating hormones after pregnancy can affect mood and wellbeing. August is the time of year that families take that last fling and perhaps go to the mountains before school starts. It is often a quiet time of reflection, a time to reflect on many happy summertime activities. At a quiet moment, I discovered some beautiful thoughts by an unknown author that I'd like to share with my loyal readers of the Warm Thoughts column."In this special moment in life...think freely, practice patience, smile often, savor special moments, make new friends, rediscover old ones. Tell those you love that you do. Feel deeply, forget trouble, forgive an enemy. Hope, grow, be happy and joyful. Count your blessings. Observe miracles, let them happen. Discard worry, give, give in, trust enough to take. Pick some flowers, share them. Keep a promise. Look for rainbows, gaze at the stars. See beauty everywhere. Work Hard, be wise, try to understand. Take time for people, make time for yourself. Laugh heartily, spread joy. Take a chance, reach out, let someone in. Try something new. Slow down, be soft sometimes. Believe in yourself. Trust others. See a sunrise, listen to rain. Reminisce, cry when you need to, trust life. Have faith, enjoy wonder, comfort a friend. Have good ideas. Make mistakes, learn from them. Celebrate life." Author, unknown. More Warm Thoughts: See a silver lining in every cloud. Enjoy the Beautiful Sunsets. Have many warm thoughts every day! Deploy Friday: hot topics for cloud technologists and developers

“97 Things Every Cloud Engineer Should Know” is a book of collected wisdom by cloud engineering experts. Our two guests today, Michelle Brenner and Dan Moore, both contributed chapters, and we speak with them about the book and the state of cloud engineering in 2021.What is cloud engineering? With most companies having at least part of their infrastructure in the cloud, some form of cloud engineering knowledge is necessary. Dan says, “I would say that a cloud engineer is someone who works in the cloud — public or private. Most people are cloud engineers nowadays, whether they want to be or not.”Michelle expands on this definition. “A cloud engineer is anyone who wants their application not on their computer and more widely available. Whether it's at a company internally or externally for the whole world to try, it's just kind of getting it out there and being more widely accessible.”Gain an edge with managed services Dan and Michelle are big proponents of managed services, that is outsourcing tasks to people who know how to solve a given problem better than you do. They acknowledge that it's a trade-off, but the reduced time-to-market and mental load can make it worthwhile.Dan says, “It's just so exciting to me, as a developer, to be able to let something that was previously a highly specialized job be taken care of by these specialists. I just don't have to worry about certain aspects and I can focus on building things that I only I could build.”Become a better engineerDan and Michelle come from different backgrounds and levels of experience, but they both have great advice for engineers. Try to have a:15-minute rule (or 30) — Both Dan and Michelle have a time limit when it comes to solving problems, and after it expires, seek help from someone else.Beginner's mindset — Learning how other people approach a problem can expand your perspective. A goal in mind — With so much technology out there, it's easy to get overwhelmed, especially as a newbie. To avoid this, Michelle suggests always having a specific goal in mind. Increased communication — “Communication is so much more important to becoming a better developer, programmer, or software engineer than I thought it was when I was just starting out,” says Dan.Get your copy of 97 Things Every Cloud Engineer Should Know to learn more about modern cloud engineering from the experts.Platform.shLearn more about us.Get started with a free trial.Have a question? The Art of Manliness
How to Predict the Weather (No Apps Required)

When you're deciding what to wear in the morning, or on the viability of some activity for the weekend, you'll likely turn to a weather app to see what the forecast holds. My guest today would suggest supplementing that habit with another: actually going outside, looking at the sky and feeling the air in order to engage in an ancient and satisfying practice and build a more intimate relationship with the weather and the world around you. His name is Tristan Gooley and he's a master outdoorsman, expert natural navigator, and global adventurer, as well as the author of The Secret World of Weather: How to Read Signs in Every Cloud, Breeze, Hill, Street, Plant, Animal, and Dewdrop. Tristan and I begin our conversation with how modern meteorological science is incredibly useful, but has also disconnected us from the weather signs right in front of our faces, as well as the different microclimates that can exist even on two different sides of a tree. We then do a quick review of some of the basic scientific/meteorological principles that underlie understanding the weather, before turning to the concrete, research-backed, field-tested, signs you can observe in your environment to predict the weather, like the shape and height of clouds, and why you should check those clouds from lunchtime onward. We discuss whether there's truth to the old saying, "red sky at night, sailors' delight; red sky in morning, sailors take warning," and what changes in plants and the behavior of animals can tell you about the coming forecast, We end our conversation with how to get started today with predicting the weather using natural signs. We turn to the TV meteorologist for the forecast, but if you miss the news you might try listening to the crickets or observing the birds. Explorer Tristan Gooley joins host Krys Boyd to talk about the subtle — and not so subtle — signs nature gives us to interpret the wind, rain, snow and sun. His book is called “The Secret World of Weather: How to Read Signs in Every Cloud, Breeze, Hill, Street, Plant, Animal, and Dewdrop.”

Fully Booked by Kirkus Reviews

Tristan Gooley discusses ‘The Secret World of Weather: How to Read Signs in Every Cloud, Breeze, Hill, Street, Plant, Animal, and Dewdrop (The Experiment, May 25), a fascinating account of the many signs in nature that can help us understand and predict our local weather. Then our editors offer their reading recommendations for the week, with books by Julie Flett, S.K. Ali, and Alexandra Andrews.

A roller coaster of a week for Blind Hog and the Acorn; ups, downs, ups, downs.  Good news is that they are both still here to bitch and complain, better than the alternative!Morels are about done.  The last ones collected were dehydrated.  Works like a champ.  Acorn saw one in the woods today but is was as dark as a pine cone, "Let is seed out for next year."  Blind Hog needed to mow the yard, but the mower front wheels won't be delivered until Monday.  Massey Ferguson and brush hog to the rescue.  Acorn also used the push mower and string trimmer.  Have to say, it looks not half bad.Blind Hog and Acorn has "interesting times" with car buying on Monday.  90 minutes of joy on the way home and then a deer stopped the happy campers.Heifer born this week, grass is growing, goslings and chicks co-mingling. Blind Hog and Acorn are still here, so all is good.

Dented Smiles Monologue is about A young woman whom shares her experience and feelings unravelling the unknown pieces to the puzzle through her childhood growing up. Behind the various smiles of comfort are also the outspoken fears from once being controlled and manipulated . She voices her strength and reflects on her emotions. Welcome to Season Four Episode Three of Lushea Wonders Why podcast. Season Four is based on the Monologue named: Dented Smiles; ‘Guidelines’. This episode talks about the three structures that make up the famous saying “ Every Could Has a Silver Lining’. Good things comes after bad situations/experiences. It is safe to say we all have a story of falling deep in a certain struggle but this episode reminds us that our character ( inner growth), and Resilience is based on the emotional lessons thrown in our lives. It is important for us to gain a bigger perspective and not shy from experience in its self . Pain i love and love is pain; so some say. The brief discussions around this saying can be quite blunt but factual. ‘Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining’, this concludes with a overall objective and perspective to the expression. Stand in Your Power! In Season Four Ep: 3, we keep things authentic around this national lockdown, with a small monologue written by Lushea Named under the podcast called “ Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining”. Hope you enjoy! Monologue : Dented Smiles :The GuideLines has been released from 6 March 2021 to find more specific information find me on socials: Instagram Officiallusheasoul or Twitter : LusheaT
