Intro Kat Patrick CEO and Founder of Dreaming Spires Home Learning, Dreaming Spires has live, online courses designed and delivered by the subject experts themselves that do all the teaching. All tutors at Dreaming Spires are hand-picked by the CEO, Dr. Patrick, for their knowledge and proven teaching skills. Additionally, they all have years of experience as home educators, giving you the confidence that they understand the opportunities and challenges you face as you navigate the many pathways of homeschooling to excellent education. Dreaming Spires is also unique due to the method they use: an organic, student-led approach codified by the Victorian educator Charlotte Mason, which has proven effective for the past 120 years. It's a student-empowering method of inquiry and exploration where our tutors unpack ways of thinking, create relationships with the reading, and set up students for a lifetime of loving to learn. Top three takeaways High School is the time for kids to explore and flourish in what they love rather than simply check off boxes - Charlotte Mason is child-centered so it meets the student where they are, and helps them progress through the year, however that looks for them. All of their tutors have experience with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and even mental health issues. Call to Action Dreaming Spires Home Learning Official Website What is Next! A good education opens all kinds of opportunities for our children. Sara knows that and so do you. In fact, Sara not only sees what is happening in our own nation but she has seen what happens in nations where governments control every aspect of education. She shares her personal experiences as a student in Saudi Arabia and a reporter covering the horrific treatment of women and girls in Afghanistan. So when we see our schools injecting politics and ideology into the classroom instead of focusing on the content our kids need to be successful in life, we must have the power to change things. Whether in voicing our concerns to the school or having the freedom to send our kids somewhere else, we should be the ones deciding what is best for our kids.Sara also highlights the efforts of congressional Republicans to provide a "parents bill of rights" when it comes to education. Texas Rep. Monica De La Cruz joins her to explain her support for the bill and why she was able to become the first Latina and the first Republican to win in her district in a very long time. Please visit our great sponsors:Allegiance Goldhttps://protectwithsara.comClick or Call 877-702-7272 tell them Sara sent you and get $5,000 of free silver on a qualifying purchase. The TeacherCast Podcast – The TeacherCast Educational Network
Jeff sits down with Terri Schwartzbeck and Sam Patterson to discuss the Alliance for Excellent Education, Digital Learning Day and how you can have a Future Ready School. About the Alliance for Excellent EducationThe Alliance for Excellent Education is a Washington, DC–based national policy and advocacy organization dedicated to ensuring that all students, particularly those who are traditionally underserved, graduate from high school ready for success in college, work, and citizenship. The Alliance focuses on America's six million most at-risk secondary school students—those in the lowest achievement quartile—who are most likely to leave school without a diploma or to graduate unprepared for a productive future. Started in 2012, Digital Learning Day has provided a powerful venue for education leaders to highlight great teaching practice and showcase innovative teachers, leaders, and instructional technology programs that are improving student outcomes. This grassroots effort blossomed into a massive nationwide celebration as teachers realized that Digital Learning Day is not about technology, it's about learning. Digital Learning Day promotes the effective use of modern day tools afforded to every other industry to improve the learning experience in K-12 public schools.
