Hosted on Acast.

Homily given at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, September 19, 2021, the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church.  The Lord upholds my life. No amount of error in a person justifies treating that person in a way that demeans the essential dignity that is theirs as sons or daughters of God. The image of God that we all bear is not effaced by error and so must always be taken into consideration. The Catechism is rather eloquent about the sinful nature of detraction and slander. Mercy, gentleness, dignity, and respect must always be present in our proclamation of the truth. If they are not, the King will not honor our attempts, because He only honors what is done His way.

Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church.  The King is absolutely faithful and filled with love for us, the sheep of His flock. Let us cling to Him during this difficult time, always remembering that He Who is in us is greater than anything we may face. Even so, come, Lord Jesus, come! We trust in You!

Homily given at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, August 29, 2021, the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church.  Humbly welcome the word that has been planted in you and is able to save your souls. "If we receive into our hearts and minds this Word with its capacity to save us, then we will have a solid criterion that we can use to judge the truth of all those voices clamoring for our attention. Since it is totally unlikely that that barrage of “information” will lessen, it is particularly crucial that we immerse ourselves in the truth that we know we can trust. He Who is the Word made flesh will guide us as we seek Him."

Homily given at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, September 5, 2021, the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church.  Do not be afraid! The more we immerse ourselves in prayer and His Word, the more we will trust in Him rather than “trusting” in the destructive power of the circumstances. So we call upon Him, Whom St. Paul reminds us gives us power to take every thought captive. We rebuke the thoughts of fear and trust Him instead!

Homily given at the 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, July 25, 2021, the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time, by Fr. Ed Fride, Pastor, Christ the King Catholic Church.  The Lord Jesus prepared the apostles for the gift of the Eucharist by giving them two foreshadowing in the earlier Scriptures: the miracles involving bread and the teaching and action of the bread of the presence in the Tent in the wilderness. All of this ultimately aimed at the reality of the Eucharist in the Mass.
