Another titan of the game industry, George "The Fat Man" Sanger, joins us live at MAGWest! George has done so much to shape the course of game audio in America that the best we can hope for is scratching the surface with this post. During his career he's worked on numerous games, alongside his legendary group of cowboy composers under the moniker "Team Fat" which consisted of himself, Dave Govett, Joe McDermott and K. Weston Phelan. A short list of projects that George and Team Fat worked on: Thin Ice for Intellivision, Maniac Mansion and Rad Gravity for NES, Zombies Ate My Neighbors on SNES, a litany of computer games including Loom, The 7th Guest, The 11th Hour, Wing Commander I and II, Ultima Underworld, Putt-Putt Goes to the Moon, Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo, Pajama Sam 3, and many other games. He's done work for so many companies it'll be faster to just link to his Wikipedia or Mobygames pages. His influence in PC game music is especially strong. He's created think tanks and collaborated with audio companies which led to the adoption of hardware like the MT-32, General MIDI, and even redbook audio as data on CD-ROM games like the 7th Guest. In the 1990s, he was also one of the first to bring American VGM composers together through "Project Barbecue", an early precursor to events like GameSoundCon, MAGWest and others. We loved every minute of talking with George and hearing his hilarious stories; from his humble beginnings, to his lengthy career and accomplishments, to his work with Team Fat. He is a larger than life character in a suit and cowboy hat and we wouldn't have it any other way. This week in The Armory we're pleased to welcome the talented breaks trio from Latvia, Under This (iBreaks), to the 1s and 2s. Press play. Get Down. In the beginning of their career Under This also took active participation in promoting Breaks music in their home town - Daugavpils, which culturally is a capital of Latvian Breaks scene. Being citizens of Daugavpils, guys got under strong influence of the Nu-Skool Breaks since the mid 2000s, just after their first visits to legendary night club 'Banzai', which was famous for its big Breaks events with acts from guest DJs such as General Midi, Hyper, Elite Force and Autobots to name a few. Grown on music of The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers and other giants of electronic music scene, these guys have absorbed all the elements of banging sound to form their unique style. Blending the vibes of early 90`s Rave anthems, mid 90`s Big Beat, 70`s Disco / Funk and even 60`s Rock`n`Roll with the modern sound of Bassline and Progressive Breaks Under This are always unexpected with their musical innovations. After their official debut release on Distinctive Records back in 2008 Under This in a wink got support from many famous DJs and producers of Breaks as well as of Trance scenes and became one of the most promising Breaks acts. Keeping their hard work and real passion to music production in the next 2 years guys signed exclusive contract with iBreaks Records. That's became a very significant point and beginning of the fast growing career for them. After serving successful apprenticeship on iBreaks Bass since 2010, Under This have stepped up to the main iBreaks label in early 2012, already having 5 EPs reached the Top10 at Beatport in their back-catalogue. Since that moment Under This became one of the most demanded Breaks projects. With their hits such as ‘Funqualize' (anthem of the Summer House 2012 festival), ‘Hands On You', ‘Stay Away', ‘What I Need', ‘Yestreday', ‘Dancing Right' and the bunch of top charted remixes, Under This firmly anchored in the leading projects of Breaks scene. These days Under This keeping their hard work in the studio on new stuff, touring around the Europe and running their own label Expand Records (Breakspoll 2013 – Best New Label Top5 nominee). Under This music is frequently played by the DJs such as Paul Oakenfold and The Crystal Method, which shows real respect and massive attention to their production, not only by Breaks lovers, but also by major dance acts. Один из тех, кого называют "лицом" Питерской брэйк-бит сцены. Его музыкальная карьера как DJ, началась в первой половине девяностых, в своем родном Мурманске. В 1995 году переехав в г. Великий Новгород, он следующие несколько лет налаживает клубную жизнь в своем новом городе, а 2001 году, основавшись уже в Санкт-Петербурге, Дима полностью погрузился в работу над созданием собственных треков. В мае 2005 года, на вечеринке "Trip Nation", состоялось первое лайв выступление Дмитрия в Санкт-Петербурге, после чего он получает предложение вступить в ряды In Beat We Trust crew. С этого момента, учавствуя в вечеринках IBWT, Golitcin зарабатывает репутацию, не только как продюссер пишущий отличную музыку, но и как артист умеющий во время выступления эту музыку подать. Благодаря обширному материалу, накопленому за несколько лет, Дмитрий сумел развеять миф о музыкальной ограничености лайв выступлений, играя многочасовые сеты наравне с диск жокеями и заставляя танцевать посетителей, как маленьких клубов, так и многотысячных рейвов.Послушав его выступление Terry Hooligan a.k.a. Atomic Hooligan говорит "заебись", а Adam Freeland просит диск для себя... Его треки звучат в эфире лондонских радиостанций KissFM 100, Minisry of Sound, Breaks FM, Nu Scool Breakscouk и DJ-сетах звезд западной брейкс-сцены. I have always loved my Breaks and in the early days Big Beat. I remember the trips to the beach club in Brighton for Fat Boy Slim's Big Beat Boutique. A Plump Night Out and The Stanton Session were two albums I bought and how the Plumps and Stantons moved onwards and upwards from there.... Other artists that have inspired me in this genre are Rogue Element, Krafty Cuts, A-Skillz, Vandal, General MIDI, Dan Magnan and the Drumattic Twins who rocked one of our best ever Jambasha parties. This won't be to everyone's taste but for those that like it fat and a bit tougher enjoy!

To celebrate the 50th Rubber Stamped Podcast I decided to make a 5hr mix with 50 tunes 10 from each genre Chilled, Progressive, House, Breaks, Trance and Drum and Bass. Narrowing down from all of my music was pretty much impossible and this did not leave room for genres like Tech, Techno, Deep, etc. So i ended up picking 72 of my favourite tunes plus a few accapellas and ended up making a 7hr 25minute mix of Rubber Stamped Slammin Melodic Electronic Music. It starts chilled goes through the house genres into some breaks then trance and ends with some drum and bass. This is pretty much my soundtrack to the last few years of my life. Big Shout out to Way Out West who registered 6 tunes on my mix. The Hospital records stable provided 6 records as well with 4 tunes from High Contrast. Eric Prydz including Pryda and Cirez D chipped in with 3 tunes all on his Pryda Recordings label. Gareth Emery also delivered 3 tunes. The quality of the Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep labels showed through with 4 records. A few artists such as General MIDI, Daniel Kandi and Stanton Warriors provided 2 tunes with music from Ian Pooley, BT, Grant Nelson, Booka Shade, X-Press 2, Jazztronic, Conrad and Bukem, Talisman and Hudson and many more making up the rest of the set.
