The U.S. Dollar will fall; but emerging markets will prosper. Interest rates have now entered a long-term rate rising cycle. We are at a great inflection point in which funds will increasingly flow from intangible assets (bitcoin/tech) and into tangible assets (gold/commodities/miners). Mark Galasiewski (gala-SHEV-ski) began his analytical career in 2001, researching fundamentals of listed stocks at an institutional brokerage in Stamford, Connecticut. Since joining EWI, Mark has presented at several investment conferences in Asia and has been interviewed by and featured in major media outlets such as Bloomberg TV Asia, India's CNBC TV-18 and ET Now, the South China Morning Post, Bloomberg newswire, Dow Jones Asia newswire, Barron's, Forbes, and Press Trust India. Mark has a degree in East Asian Studies and lived for six years during the 1990s in Japan. He is fluent in Japanese and conversant in Mandarin Chinese. I really loved this episode of the 3DPOD with Howie Marotto, Additive Manufacturing Business Director at EWI. A Marine with deep logistics experience gets to tell us how viable 3D printing actually is for the military. If we look at the frontlines, the forward operating base, or large overseas bases—where will we 3D print what? Which technologies and machines will be used, and how will the U.S. ensure it has the best machines? Given his significant experience in setting up and supplying some of the largest bases in the world, overseeing aircraft maintenance supply, and implementing new logistics systems, Howie offers unique insight into the need for and realism of 3D printing in military logistics.

Send us a textEpisode 013 Grammy-winning saxophonist and composer Tom Scott joins the Aerophone Academy to share his extraordinary musical journey from clarinet player to pioneering wind controller artist. With 13 Grammy nominations, 3 Grammy awards, and appearances on over 2,000 recordings, Scott's unmistakable sound has defined popular music across multiple decades.Scott takes us through his remarkable career path, beginning with his early musical influences from his father, a music director at NBC Radio during World War II. His professional journey started at just 14 years old, playing $15 gigs at country clubs – experiences that taught him valuable lessons about serving the music rather than his ego. "Don't try to insert your own personal opinion about how you feel about a certain tune. Just play the damn thing with as much feeling as you can muster."The conversation explores Scott's groundbreaking work with the Lyricon, the world's first commercially available wind synthesizer. We hear fascinating behind-the-scenes stories about his iconic wind controller solos on hits like Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean," Captain & Tennille's "Do That To Me One More Time," Dan Fogelberg's "Heart Hotels," and Steely Dan's "Peg." These recordings revolutionized how electronic instruments could be integrated into popular music, bringing unprecedented expressiveness to synthesized sounds.Scott's masterful horn arrangements for Steely Dan's "Aja" album receive special attention, revealing his sophisticated approach to orchestration. "I'm going to write this like it's an Oliver Nelson arrangement," he explains, describing how he transformed simple chord structures into rich, complex voicings that enhanced these iconic recordings.Whether discussing his evolution through different wind controller technologies or sharing wisdom about musical restraint ("less is more very often"), Scott's insights offer invaluable perspectives for musicians at every level. This conversation celebrates not just technological innovation but the enduring importance of musicality in an increasingly electronic landscape.Subscribe now and join us next episode for part two of our conversation with this legendary musical innovator! If you'd like to send us a question for an upcoming episode, please email us at info@aerophoneacademy.comOr leave us a voice message that we can include in the podcast here. For more information about Matt, visit www.patchmanmusic.comFor great Aerophone courses, visit www.isax.academy

Well, I don't know about you, but "water landing" is just another way to describe a CRASH LANDING IN WATER. Every time I hear that on a plane, my mind replaces that phrase with CRASH LANDING. So, I order a cocktail. It's the same with the "economy attendants", who are using "soft landing" instead of the historically more accurate description of what comes with recessions; STOCK MARKET CRASHES!Join Ken in this short lesson on where the economy is now, and how history is warning of what is to come...SOON! » Moog Plalylist- Hot Butter, « Popcorn », Popcorn, Interfusion/Musicor, 1972.- Mahavishnu Orchestra, « Birds of Fire », Birds of Fire, Columbia Records, 1973  - Donna Summer, « I Feel Love », I Remember Yesterday, Casablanca Records, 1977.- Kraftwerk, « Autobahn », Autobahn, Vertigo Records, 1974- Hal Blaine, « Love-In (December) », Psychedelic Percussion, Dunhill, 1967.

The Voice of America's Mandarin Service wrote in 2016 that Mr. Firestein is “one of the world's best non-native speakers of Mandarin Chinese”; early in his career, he interpreted for dozens of top-level U.S. and Chinese leaders and officials. (Mr. Firestein also speaks Russian.)In the years since he left the State Department, Mr. Firestein has produced path-breaking Capitol Hill testimony, thought leadership and scholarship on a wide range of topics, including U.S. arms sales to Taiwan, U.S.-China trade, the role of national exceptionalism as a driver of major international conflict, the value of government, U.S. public diplomacy in the wake of 9/11 and the use of contemporary country music as presidential campaign communication. Numerous incumbent and former U.S. secretaries of state and national security advisors from both sides of the partisan aisle—along with multiple other incumbent and former U.S. Cabinet members, members of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, U.S. combatant commanders and other prominent U.S. figures—have lauded his contributions and achievements in the area of U.S.-China relations. In recent years, Mr. Firestein periodically has been invited to brief significant swaths of the U.S. investment community, including via the 20-20 Investment Association and the Pacific Pension & Investment Institute, which together represent well over $30 trillion under management, on China and U.S.-China relations.Mr. Firestein currently serves on the boards of directors or advisors of over a dozen foreign affairs-focused, business-focused, China-focused and Texas-focused U.S. non-profit organizations. Of particular note, he is one of the few Americans who is concurrently formally affiliated with two different U.S. presidential legacy entities (the Bush China Foundation; and the LBJ School of Public Affairs, where he serves on the Dean's Advisory Council). He is also the only non-profit executive ever elected to the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Business, Texas' influential chamber of commerce. And he is a member of the founding, and current, Board of Directors of the U.S. Heartland China Association, where he serves as the inaugural chairman of the policy committee.Mr. Firestein was a member of the graduate faculty of The University of Texas at Austin for a total of four academic years, most recently from 2017 to 2019.  He was also the first foreign diplomat ever to teach courses and coach debate at MGIMO (now, MGIMO University), Russia's premier foreign affairs training ground.A native of Austin, Texas and current resident of the Austin area, Mr. Firestein holds a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University and two master's degrees from The University of Texas at Austin, as well as various advanced training certifications from the National Foreign Affairs Training Center of the U.S. Department of State. In this episode, we sit down with Chelsea Fuhlam and Abby Doorn who are Air Force Contracting professionals doing Education with Industry (EWI) fellowships. Chelsea's work with Amazon and Abby's work with Anduril really got them thinking about how collaborative industry is with its partners and how government acquisition can take better advantage of opportunities to collaborate with industry to meet its goals. As part of their EWI capstone project, Chelsea and Abby are working with Data Analytics students from UC Berkeley to develop a tool that will allow companies doing business with the government a vehicle to provide feedback on the process and identify key areas where improvements could enhance the process of meeting Air Force missions. Chelsea and Abby share why this collaboration is so important to what we do and the place our country holds in the world. Anand Wilder has released his debut solo album after the breakup of the band Yeasayer.  I Don't Know My Words (written and recorded throughout lockdown) is full of great, wide-angled pop, which may look to 1970s hippie music and Indian popular cinema. In his quest to go back to songs that were “light on electronics and experimentation,” and “heavy on acoustics and vocals,” Wilder has said he was inspired by The Beatles, Cat Stevens, and Fairport Convention, (interview with NME.) On the record, I Don't Know My Words, Wilder plays all instruments, including mountain dulcimer a la Joni Mitchell, twelve-string guitars, plucked cello, bowed acoustic guitars, and tumbling, song-serving drums. For the Soundcheck Podcast, Anand Wilder and his band play some of these songs from his studio, in arrangements including mountain dulcimer and steamy EWI (electronic wind instrument.) – Caryn Havlik Set List: “Fever Seizure,” “Get More Than My Share,” “Half Brother” Watch "Fever Seizure": Watch "Get More Than My Share": Watch: "Half-Brother":
