You may have recently seen episode 1 in the new docuseries "Uncomfortable Truths." Today I'm joined by its filmmaker, Travis Brown, who was drawn to investigate gender ideology after noticing many traits it shared in common with the controlling religious environment he grew up in.We discuss the historical context of gender transition protocols and the questionable ethics of current practices. Travis highlights the alarming trend of rushing into medical procedures without adequate understanding or consideration of the long-term consequences, especially for minors. From his libertarian perspective, he emphasizes the need to balance personal freedom with the importance of waiting periods and psychological evaluations before undergoing irreversible surgeries. Meanwhile, I argue that these procedures should be outlawed altogether, reframing the debate from one of individual rights to one of professional ethical responsibilities.Travis Brown is a visiting fellow at Danube Institute, content producer for Genspect, the president of a non-profit, and an international filmmaker and commentator known for his thought-provoking docuseries 'The Woke Reformation,' which features Peter Boghossian, Douglas Murray, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Vivek Ramaswamy, and other brave intellectuals who demolish and then offer a positive alternative to Woke culture. Travis frequently engages with contemporary cultural issues, exploring themes like identity, belief, and the importance of meaning through his work. He travels internationally to screen his work and engage in public discussions.Travis is the president of The Signal Education Project (SEP), a non-profit that shines a light on how dogmatic thinking distorts the truth and fractures our relationships. Through SEP, Travis explores how strict ideologies shape our view of reality, the effect this has on our conversations, and what it does to relationships and society as a whole. SEP's current project investigates the contentious topic of gender identity in the upcoming docuseries Uncomfortable Truths: The Reality of Gender Identity Ideology.Donate to support the series on GiveSendGo.00:00 Start[00:02:03] Trans ideology and its impact.[00:03:33] Identity and oppression in upbringing.[00:08:06] Oppression and authoritarian tendencies.[00:12:00] Compassionate perspectives on trans issues.[00:16:18] Conveyor belt of transition.[00:19:02] Communicating with trans-identified youth.[00:22:27] Language and its implications.[00:27:03] Interviewing controversial figures.[00:31:17] Buck Angel's evolving perspectives.[00:35:55] Moral psychology and fear.[00:38:31] Importance of opposing views.[00:41:41] Concerns about social media influence.[00:46:53] Medical autonomy and restrictions.[00:48:10] Ethical dilemmas of technology.[00:53:31] Rebuilding parent-child relationships.[00:58:04] Spiritual needs in society.[01:01:40] Pursuing creativity after activism.[01:03:13] Content quality in storytelling.ROGD REPAIR Course + Community gives concerned parents instant access to over 120 lessons providing the psychological insights and communication tools you need to get through to your kid. Sasha and Stella welcome Clementine Breen, a 20-year-old young woman who detransitioned after undergoing rapid medicalization as a child. Clementine was a patient of Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy, one of the most prominent advocates for pediatric gender medicine. Beginning at age 12, she was placed on puberty blockers, prescribed testosterone, and underwent a double mastectomy—all by the age of 14.In this episode, she shares her story, shedding light on the devastating consequences of fast-tracked gender-affirming care. Clementine discusses how following her surgery, she experienced severe mental health struggles, including dissociation, self-harm, and a suicide attempt, yet clinicians remained focused solely on continuing her transition despite her worsening mental status. Clementine shares how, years later, proper therapy allowed her to uncover deeper psychological and childhood issues, exposing the failure of superficial gender-affirming care to address underlying trauma. This conversation exposes the dangerous flaws in the gender medicine model and the lack of psychological evaluation for vulnerable youth. Clementine's experience underscores the failures of the pediatric gender medical establishment, and the urgent need for accountability in a system that prioritizes affirmation over comprehensive care. For links and resources relevant to this episode, access the full show notes at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-204 Buy Our Book – When Kids Say They're Trans: A Guide for Thoughtful Parents at https://whenkidssaytheyretrans.com/ Join Our Listener Community to Access Exclusive Content at https://www.widerlenspod.com/ Support the Show at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/support-the-show Join the conversation on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@widerlenspod For more information about Sasha's & Stella's parent coaching membership groups, visit:Sasha Ayad: https://sashaayad.com/parenting-coaching Stella O'Malley: http://www.stellaomalley.com/parent-coaching To learn more about our sponsors, visit:Therapy First at https://www.therapyfirst.org/ Genspect at https://genspect.org/ This is a public episode. Sasha and Stella welcome Dr. Marieke den Ouden, a medical biologist and psychologist, about pediatric gender medicine in the Netherlands. While the Dutch Protocol is believed to ensure thorough mental health evaluations, Marieke reveals inconsistencies in its application. She discusses a new survey gathering input from extended family on a child's mental health and gender identity, raising questions about bias in reporting. The conversation also explores the clinical foundations of gender medicine, examining how early researchers with backgrounds in disorders of sexual development (DSDs) shaped the field. Their search for a biological basis of gender identity—whether in hormones, chromosomes, or brain structures—led to a medicalized approach to gender distress. This framing has contributed to the widespread push for medical interventions, fast-tracking youth into irreversible treatments despite a lack of clear biological justification. This episode presents fresh debates and critical insights into the ethical dilemmas surrounding pediatric gender transition and the protocols involved. For links and resources relevant to this episode, access the full show notes at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-203 Buy Our Book – When Kids Say They're Trans: A Guide for Thoughtful Parents at https://whenkidssaytheyretrans.com/ Join Our Listener Community to Access Exclusive Content at https://www.widerlenspod.com/ Support the Show at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/support-the-show Join the conversation on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@widerlenspod For more information about Sasha's & Stella's parent coaching membership groups, visit:Sasha Ayad: https://sashaayad.com/parenting-coaching Stella O'Malley: http://www.stellaomalley.com/parent-coaching To learn more about our sponsors, visit:Therapy First at https://www.therapyfirst.org/ Genspect at https://genspect.org/ This is a public episode. In this episode, former Democratic State Representative Shawn Thierry reflects on her role in advocating for Texas Senate Bill 14 (TX SB14), which raised the minimum age for gender transition procedures to 18. Despite sharing concerns about the medicalization of minors with her fellow Democratic colleagues, Shawn was warned that her seat would be at stake for going on the record with her position and voting in favor of the bill. Her steadfast commitment to integrity led her to take a stand, even though it ultimately cost her re-election. Shawn discusses the two-year research process that shaped her decision, the personal risks she faced, and the pressures she encountered from within her own party. Throughout the conversation, she highlights the importance of principled leadership, unwavering dedication to doing what is right, and standing firm in the face of political and social pressures. For links and resources relevant to this episode, access the full show notes at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-201 Buy Our Book – When Kids Say They're Trans: A Guide for Thoughtful Parents at https://whenkidssaytheyretrans.com/ Join Our Listener Community to Access Exclusive Content at https://www.widerlenspod.com/ Support the Show at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/support-the-show Join the conversation on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@widerlenspod For more information about Sasha's & Stella's parent coaching membership groups, visit:Sasha Ayad: https://sashaayad.com/parenting-coaching Stella O'Malley: http://www.stellaomalley.com/parent-coaching To learn more about our sponsors, visit:Therapy First at https://www.therapyfirst.org/ Genspect at https://genspect.org/ This is a public episode. In this week's podcast, Jennifer Richmond and Elizabeth Spievak speak with new ILV friend and (fingers crossed) advisor, Dr. Nafees Alam. Nafees is a heterodox social work professor who is bringing viewpoint diversity into his classroom. He is reinvigorating “point-counterpoint” strategies to get his students to explore different opinions and mindsets with compassion and empathy. He uses this style in a lot of his writing where he has considered different perspectives on issues such as mental health, “toxic masculinity” and trans sports. Be on the lookout for more from Nafees in our December Liberal Values Lab as as a panelist on our Liberalism in Practice Panel Discussion on trans sports with our guests from Genspect. Stella and Sasha welcome freelance writer, free-thinker, and current chairman of the Lesbian and Gay Alliance in Iceland, Eldur Smári Kristinsson, offering a revealing overview of Iceland's rapid societal transformation into what he describes as a "gender-crazed dystopia”. In this episode, Eldur describes how over the last 25 years, Iceland has transitioned from a nation advancing progressive gay rights to one where gender ideology has infiltrated institutions, including government, education, and even the Church of Iceland. This change, Eldur argues, has been driven by ideological activists and well-funded interest groups seeking to perpetuate their influence. His testimony underscores the deep societal shifts underway in Iceland and the challenges of addressing contentious gender issues amid institutional complicity and media narratives. For links and resources relevant to this episode, access the full show notes at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-194 Buy Our Book – When Kids Say They're Trans: A Guide for Thoughtful Parents at https://whenkidssaytheyretrans.com/ Join Our Listener Community to Access Exclusive Content at https://www.widerlenspod.com/ Support the Show at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/support-the-show Join the conversation on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@widerlenspod For more information about Sasha's & Stella's parent coaching membership groups, visit:Sasha Ayad: https://sashaayad.com/parenting-coaching Stella O'Malley: http://www.stellaomalley.com/parent-coaching To learn more about our sponsors, visit:Therapy First at https://www.therapyfirst.org/ Genspect at https://genspect.org/ This is a public episode. In a conversation with Stella O'Malley, founder and director of Genspect, Andrew Gold @andrewgoldheretics explores why people—even very intelligent ones—are drawn to cult-like beliefs. He shares stories from his investigative work, including his study of exorcisms in Argentina, and connects these experiences to how modern groups can sometimes take on cult-like behaviors. He discusses how social pressures and rituals influence why people stay in these groups, even when it might be harmful. Through his work with former cult members, Andrew explains the challenges of leaving these intense belief systems and the importance of questioning groupthink in our lives. Andrew Gold is a British journalist, author, and YouTuber known for his investigative work on cults and extreme ideologies. Fluent in five languages, he has produced and presented documentaries for the BBC and HBO, including the acclaimed 2018 BBC documentary Exorcism: The Battle for Young Minds, featured in BBC Three's Best of 2018 list. In June 2020, he launched the podcast On the Edge with Andrew Gold, highlighted in Apple's New and Noteworthy section. Gold also hosts the YouTube channel heretics., where he interviews people who challenge conventional wisdom and groupthink. Sasha and Stella welcome Aaron Kimberly back to the show, nearly a year after her first appearance on the podcast. Aaron has undergone a remarkable transformation, returning to her female identity and embracing a new understanding and acceptance of herself. This episode delves into Aaron's complex journey of self-discovery, shaped by her unique experiences with a rare ovotesticular disorder of sex development (DSD), her longstanding identity as a butch lesbian, and the medical, professional, and social experiences that have shaped her path.In this episode, Aaron examines the role of the butch lesbian community that once fostered a vital sense of belonging—a community that, as she remarks, has largely faded, leaving young butch lesbians with limited support. She suggests that this shift might be contributing to the increased rates of medical transition among younger lesbians today. Her deep commitment to understanding the diverse reasons for sex non-conformity, coupled with her involvement in lesbian communities, has cultivated her interest in the cultural contexts of gender and atypical bodies, often pathologized or medicalized in society. This is an incredibly compelling conversation reflecting on the evolving relationship between lesbian identity, butch identity, and the implications of a medicalized appearance. Mia Hughes is an Ottawa-based British journalist and researcher for Michael Shellenberger's nonprofit, Environmental Progress. Mia authored the WPATH Files report, which exposed widespread medical mistreatment of children, adolescents, and vulnerable adults in the realm of gender-affirming care. We were both in Lisbon, Portugal, for the Genspect conference—which uncoincidentally coincided with WPATH's conference. (NB I reached out to WPATH organizers and speakers to have a conversation about their reasoning for gender-affirming care. As expected, I received no responses. Throughout this conversation I made an effort to steelman WPATH arguments.)Mia and I began with the concept of "Gender Soul." This led to a discussion about medical interventions in gender-affirming care.Watch this episode on YouTube.Cozen O'Connor Public Strategies - The Beltway BriefingListen for of-the-moment insider insights, framed by the rapidly changing social and...Listen on: Apple Podcasts Spotify More Than the Dress“More than the Dress” is a biweekly podcast hosted by Michele C. In this episode, Sasha and Stella reflect on the Bigger Picture Conference in Lisbon, discussing notable takeaways from various speakers. A key theme explored is how the gender debate has expanded into a multidisciplinary conversation, no longer just confined to therapists or concerned parents but drawing in academics, sociologists, and political thinkers worldwide.Their discussion covers a range of topics, including institutional capture, mass formation theory, societal movements, the roles of parents—particularly mothers—in navigating gender questioning, the ethics within the field of gender medicine, and the power of truth in countering ideological extremism. For links and resources relevant to this episode, access the full show notes at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-189 Buy Our Book – When Kids Say They're Trans: A Guide for Thoughtful Parents at https://whenkidssaytheyretrans.com/ Join Our Listener Community to Access Exclusive Content at https://www.widerlenspod.com/ Support the Show at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/support-the-show Join the conversation on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@widerlenspod For more information about Sasha's & Stella's parent coaching membership groups, visit:Sasha Ayad: https://sashaayad.com/parenting-coaching Stella O'Malley: http://www.stellaomalley.com/parent-coaching To learn more about our sponsors, visit:Therapy First at https://www.therapyfirst.org/ Genspect at https://genspect.org/ This is a public episode. This conversation connects cognitive dissonance surrounding gender identity to cultural and institutional dynamics, including developments in gender medicine and resistance to emerging evidence that challenges prevailing medical practices — illustrating how deeply held beliefs become difficult to abandon even in the face of contradictory evidence. The core idea is that just because something cannot be proven false doesn't mean we should accept it as true. Stella and Sasha imply that trying to "research a way out" of this issue isn't the answer, as many are emotionally invested in their decisions regarding medicalization, especially parents of trans-identified children. This episode underscores the value of self-forgiveness and cognitive flexibility, emphasizing the importance of remaining open to re-evaluating one's path and advocating that winning "hearts and minds" is key to changing perspectives rather than relying solely on evidence. While systemic changes and broader public awareness could help shift the conversation, ultimately, the cultural "war" over gender identity will not be resolved easily or quickly, with some people doubling down on their decisions for life. For links and resources relevant to this episode, access the full show notes at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-188 Buy Our Book – When Kids Say They're Trans: A Guide for Thoughtful Parents at https://whenkidssaytheyretrans.com/ Join Our Listener Community to Access Exclusive Content at https://www.widerlenspod.com/ Support the Show at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/support-the-show Join the conversation on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@widerlenspod For more information about Sasha's & Stella's parent coaching membership groups, visit:Sasha Ayad: https://sashaayad.com/parenting-coaching Stella O'Malley: http://www.stellaomalley.com/parent-coaching To learn more about our sponsors, visit:Therapy First at https://www.therapyfirst.org/ Genspect at https://genspect.org/ This is a public episode. Sasha & Stella invite renowned feminist and author Julie Bindel to reflect on her decades-long advocacy for women and girls, in-particular her recent work investigating gender ideology. Julie shares her motivation behind her new podcast series, Julie in Genderland, which amplifies the voices of parents grappling with their children being caught in the gender identity craze. In this episode, Julie discusses her undercover work exposing gay conversion therapy, drawing parallels to what she calls modern "gay conversion therapy" through transgender ideology impacting gender-nonconforming youth. She explores evolving narratives around sexuality, the weaponization of female empathy in trans activism, and the systemic failures in supporting marginalized groups, particularly vulnerable girls, as seen in the Rochdale child abuse scandal. Julie also examines the trust placed in medical professionals and the societal influences shaping parents' decisions, spotlighting her podcast series, Julie in Genderland, and its focus on the impact of gender ideology on families and the challenges they encounter. With insights into radical gender politics, parental trauma, and the complexities of lesbian identity, this episode offers listeners an enlightening exploration of gender issues, feminism, child safeguarding, and activism. It sheds light on the intricate intersections of identity, politics, and personal experiences in today's sociopolitical climate. For links and resources relevant to this episode, access the full show notes at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-185 Buy Our Book – When Kids Say They're Trans: A Guide for Thoughtful Parents at https://whenkidssaytheyretrans.com/ Join Our Listener Community to Access Exclusive Content at https://www.widerlenspod.com/ Support the Show at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/support-the-show Join the conversation on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@widerlenspod For more information about Sasha's & Stella's parent coaching membership groups, visit:Sasha Ayad: https://sashaayad.com/parenting-coaching Stella O'Malley: http://www.stellaomalley.com/parent-coaching To learn more about our sponsors, visit:Therapy First at https://www.therapyfirst.org/ Genspect at https://genspect.org/ This is a public episode. Stella & Sasha welcome former public defender and education advocate, Maud Maron to the show for a fascinating conversation examining the intersection of education and politics. Maud reflects on the troubling shifts within schools, where merit and academic standards are being overshadowed by ideological pressures. In this episode, Maud discusses the evolving landscape of education, where traditional academic standards are increasingly being influenced or overshadowed by ideological pressures from social and political agendas. She highlights the impact of identity politics, gender ideology, and equity measures on core educational values. Drawing from her personal experiences from pushing for enhanced math standards, to becoming embroiled in a heated debate over gender guidelines in New York City's public schools leading to her removal from the school board, to her later subsequent return, Maud recounts the tactics used to silence her dissent. Despite her efforts to initiate a respectful dialogue on the impact of gender policies on female athletes, Maud faced significant backlash, raising broader concerns about free speech and the pressures of ideological conformity within educational and public forums. This episode offers invaluable insights for parents, educators, political followers, free speech advocates, and those curious about how the politicization of education and ideological pressures are diluting the emphasis on academic performance, sparking concerns about the long-term impact on students' education and society at large. For links and resources relevant to this episode, access the full show notes at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-184 Buy Our Book – When Kids Say They're Trans: A Guide for Thoughtful Parents at https://whenkidssaytheyretrans.com/ Join Our Listener Community to Access Exclusive Content at https://www.widerlenspod.com/ Support the Show at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/support-the-show Join the conversation on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@widerlenspod For more information about Sasha's & Stella's parent coaching membership groups, visit:Sasha Ayad: https://sashaayad.com/parenting-coaching Stella O'Malley: http://www.stellaomalley.com/parent-coaching To learn more about our sponsors, visit:Therapy First at https://www.therapyfirst.org/ Genspect at https://genspect.org/ This is a public episode. Another special mid-week episode release! Sasha will be back for our next episode, but don't miss this deeply moving conversation between Stella and guest, Maia Poet, who shares her powerful story of self-discovery through the lenses of gender identity, conflict, and societal expectations. Maia recounts the emotional and psychological conflict she faced living as a trans man in a religious society, and how war—especially the harrowing events of October 7th—shifted her entire perspective on her body and identity. In this conversation, Maia opens up about the transformative power of community, particularly her encounters with detransitioners, and the critical role they played in her journey toward desistance. Maia also delves into the complex moral dilemmas of discussing gender identity with children, and how surviving war solidified her understanding of the strength and resilience of her natural female body.Listeners will gain unique insight into the profound complexities of gender nonconformity in a society that, under the false pretense of “authenticity,” is failing to accommodate such experiences. The lack of space for nonconformity is paving a destructive path towards body dysmorphia, crisis of self-identity, and harmful medical transition — a broken and twisted journey towards self-love and acceptance. For links and resources relevant to this episode, access the full show notes at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-183 Buy Our Book – When Kids Say They're Trans: A Guide for Thoughtful Parents at https://whenkidssaytheyretrans.com/ Join Our Listener Community to Access Exclusive Content at https://www.widerlenspod.com/ Support the Show at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/support-the-show Join the conversation on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@widerlenspod For more information about Sasha's & Stella's parent coaching membership groups, visit:Sasha Ayad: https://sashaayad.com/parenting-coaching Stella O'Malley: http://www.stellaomalley.com/parent-coaching To learn more about our sponsors, visit:Therapy First at https://www.therapyfirst.org/ Genspect at https://genspect.org/ This is a public episode. This webinar provides 1.5 hours of CE credits. This episode is a special mid-week release! No special guest for this conversation, just an important and thoughtful exchange between hosts, Sasha and Stella, exploring some of the common and yet intensely complex manifestations of gender dysphoria in males. This discussion offers a careful examination of the broad psychological, developmental, and sexual dynamics shaping male identity, the effects of testosterone, and perceptions around gender roles.Stella and Sasha guide listeners through several frameworks for understanding different experiences of gender dysphoria in males, including autogynephilia (AGP), homosexual transsexual (HSTS), and rapid onset gender dysphoria (ROGD). It's crucial to recognize that while diagnostic frameworks offer insight, they can oversimplify the complexities of human identity and behavior. Traits associated with AGP, HSTS, ROGD, or even neurodiversity, like autism, may overlap and interact in ways that are not fully understood, underscoring the need for a more integrated understanding that avoids overly simplistic categorizations and fosters more nuanced and optimized support. For links and resources relevant to this episode, access the full show notes at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-180 Buy Our Book – When Kids Say They're Trans: A Guide for Thoughtful Parents at https://whenkidssaytheyretrans.com/ Join Our Listener Community to Access Exclusive Content at https://www.widerlenspod.com/ Support the Show at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/support-the-show Join the conversation on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@widerlenspod For more information about Sasha's & Stella's parent coaching membership groups, visit:Sasha Ayad: https://sashaayad.com/parenting-coaching Stella O'Malley: http://www.stellaomalley.com/parent-coaching To learn more about our sponsors, visit:Therapy First at https://www.therapyfirst.org/ Genspect at https://genspect.org/ This is a public episode. I just wrapped up a great conversation with author and public intellectual Frank Furedi, who is ever-interesting. Frank has a new book, The War Against the Past, which I haven't read yet but is on my must-read list. Given Frank's heterodox and thoughtful writings, I've put this on my “Must Read” list. Frank and I frequently cross paths at conferences, and I always find his commentary insightful and clear. Although we strongly disagree on some issues, I've always found Frank open to conversation, dialogue, and even friendly debate. We discussed the politicization of identity and his concept of "decivilization," which he explains in detail. I also asked him about his shift from the far left to his now conservative views. We touched on species relativism (versus cultural, moral, or epistemological relativism), as well as the impact of politicization on public discourse and his work with MCC's think tank in Brussels. I'm looking forward to speaking with Frank at Genspect in Portugal and seeing him again in Hungary and possibly Romania. I hope you enjoy our episode. Thanks!
As the mother of two trans-identified children, Lynn Chadwick has navigated the pain of estrangement and now channels her experiences into her work with Themis Resource Fund, an independent, nonprofit, and nonpartisan organization providing financial resource aimed at connecting detransitioned plaintiffs in the United States with attorneys interested in representing their cases.Lynn expresses her deep concern about the potential for re-traumatization among detransitioned individuals who engage in legal battles. She emphasizes the harsh and uncertain nature of these legal processes, where plaintiffs often face aggressive questioning and blame. Lynn's work with Themis advocates for the dignity and justice of these individuals, underscoring the importance of their narratives and the need for respectful treatment. The discussion emphasizes the vulnerability of clients, the lack of comprehensive care addressing underlying mental health issues, and the need for cautious medical practices, underscoring the importance of seeking justice for those affected and advocating for more responsible treatment alternatives to gender-affirming care. For links and resources relevant to this episode, access the full show notes at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-167Buy Our Book – When Kids Say They're Trans: A Guide for Thoughtful Parents at https://whenkidssaytheyretrans.com/Join Our Listener Community to Access Exclusive Content at https://www.widerlenspod.com/Support the Show at https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/support-the-show Join the conversation on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@widerlenspod For more information about Sasha's & Stella's parent coaching membership groups, visit:Sasha Ayad: https://sashaayad.com/parenting-coaching Stella O'Malley: http://www.stellaomalley.com/parent-coaching To learn more about our sponsors, visit:Therapy First at https://www.therapyfirst.org/Genspect at https://genspect.org/This is a public episode. Stella is an Irish psychotherapist who had her own intense experience with gender as a child, and the resolution of her gender distress has made her curious about the wisdom of early intervention. As a result, in addition to facilitating a parent coachingsite that provides practical help to parents who are navigating their child's gender-related distress, and acting as the presenter for the documentary, “Trans Kids: It's Time to Talk (2018), Stella is the director of Genspect, an international organization that offers a healthy approach to sex and gender.Stella is the co-author of a 2023 book called “When Kids Say They're Trans,” a work which explicitly encourages parents not to immediately consider gender affirming surgery or other medical procedures that might prove irreversible. Stella and her colleagues argue that only parents know best and their book hopes to help parents everywhere support their child's identity without necessarily altering their biology. Stella joins Adam to discuss the current conversation over gender and children and argues that the though the science is far from settled, parents can, and should, love their children for who they are. Peter presents Stella O'Malley and Menno Kuijper with various claims about the current transgender movement. Stella, a psychotherapist and author, and Menno, a video creator who is gay, both share a similar gender-critical viewpoint. Though, they disagree on some points, notably on whether the term "trans people" should even be used. This leads to a discussion on the importance of language, especially regarding trans issues. Finally, they discuss autogynephilia and consent.Stella O'Malley is a psychotherapist, bestselling author, public speaker, and parent with extensive experience in counseling and psychotherapy. Her latest book, "When Kids Say They're Trans," offers a resource for parents who want their children to flourish, but do not believe that hasty medicalization is the best way to ensure long-term health and well-being. Stella is also the founder and Executive Director of Genspect, an international organization that advocates for a healthy approach to sex and gender. Stella on XStella's other books Menno Kuijper has earned the prestigious award, “Gay of the Year”. He is a satirist and video creator whose content focuses on "a world overrun with gender woo" and how it undermines the rights and freedoms of women, girls, LGB people, and children.Menno's YouTube ChannelWatch this episode on YouTube.

In addition to your three examples, I also submit five more:From Heather Heying's piece about this:The night before the conference began, many of us were in the vicinity of the hotel bar, and I saw a man walking around in a dress. I would later learn that this was Phil. I did a double-take. I asked the woman sitting next to me—am I seeing this correctly? She looked, nodded. Yep. I was unnerved. What did I not know? Did this person believe himself to be a woman, or not? Why did the answer to that question matter to me?The next night Phil approached my table, offered me a copy of his book, which I accepted, and we talked for a bit. I came away with some answers and intuitions: No, he does not think that he is actually a woman. And no, he does not seem like a creep. None of my hackles were raised. I detected no malice, no glint in the eye, no smirk, outer or inner, that he was having one over on all of us. Of course I could be wrong about these things, as anyone's intuition can mislead them. One of the despicable truths about gender ideology is that women are being told to stop trusting the very intuitions that we have always relied on, when walking alone, when entering a bathroom or a locker room or a parking garage, when approached by a person we do not know. It is not bigoted to cross the street if you feel a tingle at the base of your skull as you see a man approaching you. It is smart. I have traveled far and wide, often exploring places alone that women are expected not to explore alone, and I have honed my intuition, although I am well aware that I can and do make mistakes. Nothing about Phil alarmed me.Lisa Jones, who I talked with a while one of the nights, officially awarded me zero points on a 10-point scale of creepiness:Now, some people online are accusing Phil of being a creepy AGP because he wore dresses at Genspect. On the AGP creepiness scale, I award my doorstep AGP five out of ten stars for moderate creepiness. Phil, by contrast, wins zero stars. I felt no creepiness from Phil Illy.Laura Becker, the detrans woman who was next to me in the photo that kicked of the controversy, also felt safe around me:I'm the young female detransitioner in the photo. I have CPTSD from male abuse. I have vulnerabilities, but I never felt vulnerable around Phil. In fact, we had a strong connection discussing sexuality and gender. How is it that a traumatized young woman like myself can find value in the sexual theory and research of this man's book, but Genspect gets called unsafe as an organization for allowing him to have discussions about it?That's far too broad a brush.Leslie Elliot, a centrist YoutTuber, also said my vibes were fine:From the same video, therapist Pamela Garfield-Jaeger, also weighed in. We hung out for a few hours and also shared a ride to the airport. She said that even though she admittedly had some prejudgement about me because I was a man in a dress, she also said I wasn't being creepy at all:I'm sure there are more examples of people saying my behavior was fine, but I think the point is made: my vibes were officially acceptable.
In this 198th in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we discuss the state of the world through an evolutionary lens.In this episode we discuss the West, the West West, and the West West West. Following recent travels in Prague, London, and Denver, we talk about how Prague seems to keeping the embers of the West alive—through noble subversion, shared knowledge of musical traditions, cobbled streets, and more. We discuss anti-semitism—its absence in Prague, its presence in London. We talk about the art and energy discussions at the ARC (Alliance for Responsible Citizenship) conference. And we discuss children and young people being harmed by the affirmative care model, following Heather's participation in the Genspect conference in Denver. *****Our sponsors:Vivo Barefoot: Shoes for healthy feet—comfortable and regenerative, enhances stability and tactile feedback. Megyn Kelly is joined by Jesse Kelly, host of TheFirst TV's "I'm Right," to talk about college students' increasingly prevalent anti-Jewish displays across the country, whether the college students even understand what they're saying, BLM and pro-Hamas sentiment aligned now, why parents should pay attention to the ways they raise their children so they don't become easily indoctrinated, how raising children to be “commie foot soldiers” will lead to the anti-Jewish nonsense we see today, the new video showing Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman pulling the House building fire alarm to get out of a critical vote, the lies he told the media, whether this will affect his future re-election chances, and more. Then Stella O'Malley and Joe Burgo of Genspect join to discuss psychotherapists finally speaking out on alternatives to "affirm only" gender care, mental distress being weaponized, sexual awakenings and why puberty blockers can be so harmful, the real alternatives that should be available for children with gender dysphoria, pushing back on radical gender ideology using “non-medicalized” care, sexual vulnerability and autistic kids, the new gay "conversion therapy" of radical gender ideology, the need for women to stand up and push back, the danger of playing the pronouns game, detransitioners suing now, and more.Kelly: https://www.thefirsttv.com/book/O'Malley and Burgo: https://genspect.org Follow The Megyn Kelly Show on all social platforms: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/MegynKellyTwitter: http://Twitter.com/MegynKellyShowInstagram: http://Instagram.com/MegynKellyShowFacebook: http://Facebook.com/MegynKellyShow Find out more information at: https://www.devilmaycaremedia.com/megynkellyshow
