EDUCATION:Stanford - 1989-93YEARS AT SAN FRANCISCO:Sept. 2016 - PresentCAREER HIGHLIGHTS AT SAN FRANCISCO:Molly Goodenbour, a two-time national champion at Stanford who has over a decade of head coaching experience on the collegiate level, was named the ninth head coach in University of San Francisco women's basketball history on Sept. 28, 2016. This is Goodenbour's third coaching stint on the Hilltop, where she served as an assistant coach with the Dons during the 1994-95 and 2005-06 seasons. In 2023-24, Goodenbour led San Francisco to a second-half resurgence as the team finished in a tie for third place in the West Coast Conference standings after starting the season with a 4-9 record. The program posted double-digit victories in WCC play for the fifth time in Goodenbour's tenure as the team finished at 10-6, highlighted by season sweeps of Pacific, Saint Mary's, Pepperdine, and LMU. San Francisco also finished the season strong, rolling eventual WCC Tournament Champions Portland on the road, earning 59-47 victory at Chiles Center.Under Goodenbour's guidance, Jasmine Gayles and Debora dos Santos earned All-WCC First Team honors. Dos Santos recorded a career season, averaging a double-double with 15.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per game while Gayles led the squad in scoring at 16.8 points per game. Gayles also recorded the second 40-point game in program history as she dropped 40 points in an 81-68 win at Pacific on January 13The 2022-23 season under the leadership of Goodenbour concluded with an overall record of 19-13. Three Dons earned All-WCC Selections while two Dons earned WCC All-Within the first six years on the Hilltop, Goodenbour posted impressive numbers, including becoming the winningest coach in USF history through 50 games (27-23), as well as through two seasons at 34-28 (.548). Goodenbour quickly built up her impressive resume at USF, becoming the first coach to post winning overall and conference records in her first two seasons on the job. Building off the program's strong start to the new decade, the Dons were once again punching a postseason ticket as they battled through a grueling non-conference schedule that kept them away from the Hilltop from Thanksgiving until after New Year's Day. Following an 0-4 start to WCC play battling through injuries and COVID-19 related pauses, the Dons went on to rattle off wins in six of their next seven games and finished with the third seed heading into the WCC Tournament. USF would go on to defeat Santa Clara in Vegas before returning home to host Air Force in the WNIT.Since the start of the 2020-21 season, Goodenbour's Dons have made consecutive WNIT appearances and won at least one game in back-to-back WCC Tournaments. Led by two-time All-WCC first team selection Ioanna Krimili, USF's 2020-21 team led the conference in total points and points per game while being a top-four program in team plus/minus. Goodenbour's third WCC Tournament in 2019 saw her lead the Dons to a first-round victory over Portland, marking the seventh year in a row the Dons advanced beyond their opening game.Molly's 2017-18 squad placed three WCC All-Conference and All-Academic honorees. Anna Seilund earned First-Team All-WCC and Second-Team All-WCC recipients Michaela Rakova and Kalyn Simon. She finished her first year on the Hilltop in 2016-17 with an 18-13 overall record that included an 11-7 mark in West Coast Conference play, good for a fourth-place finish, the Dons' highest since the 2002-03 season. In the process, Goodenbour became the first USF head coach since Sue Rojcewicz in 1982-83 to post a winning record in her first year at the helm and compiled the second-best record by a first-year coach in program history. In addition, USF's 11 WCC wins under Goodenbour were the most since the 1996-97 campaign.

For the first time in 38 years, the University of Southern California has earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA women's basketball tournament. It's the culmination of coach Lindsey Gottlieb's three-year rehabilitation project for the once proud program. But for former high school phenom Aaliyah Gayles, who'd committed to the Trojans before Gottlieb took over, injuries from a shooting in 2022 had her wondering if she'd ever be able to play basketball again. ESPN Writer Katie Barnes started reporting on Gayles shortly after the shooting and over several months got intimate access to her family and the USC program. Today, Katie takes us inside Gayles' long and courageous effort to return to the court. Katie's E60 documentary on Aaliyah Gayles, titled “Only the Strong Survive,” premieres this Saturday at 11am ET on ESPN2 and will be available afterward on ESPN+. Learn more about your ad choices. Lyn is joined by relationship coach, Gayle Lynn, to discuss the fascinating topic of non-traditional relationships - what are they? what do they look like? and why we may want to rethink our desires and expectations when it comes to romantic partners and the world of dating. KEY TAKEAWAYS When we enter into relationships with people, it allows us to see different aspects of our own personality, and explore parts of ourselves that may otherwise have remained suppressed or hidden from view. Some people in an open relationship will require agreements to be made before they begin. But are usually receptive to the fact that these rules may change and evolve. Entering into a non-binding relationship that consents to each person having more than one partner is a serious undertaking, and requires a deep level of thought and sensitivity. Both partners need to feel comfortable and be completely on board in order for it to work. It's no secret that mental health care can be expensive and difficult to access, especially for young people. This can be a huge problem for students, who often face significant stressors. Bridging the gap in student access to mental health care can alleviate some of these stressors. Dr. Travis Gayles, a recent recipient of the AMA Award for Outstanding Service for his leadership during the pandemic, is an expert on child health access, especially as it relates to what kids have been up against for the past two years. In Episode 220 of Class Dismissed, Gayles tells about the stressors students face and how school districts are coming up with innovative new ways to get students access to school-based telehealthcare. Hazel Health, the company Gayles works with, partners with schools to provide physical health, check-ups, and mental and behavioral health evaluations. They give students access to a network of doctors for speedy diagnoses and care plans, including urgent care, particularly in underserved communities with large populations of Medicaid-insured students.

Grief makes grievers feel like they don't have choices. And, it can also be difficult to bring yourself to take a chance on something or someone. In this episode, I explore choice and chance with Larry. Larry shares his stories of loss, focusing on a short-term love that touched his heart and life deeply, leaving a lasting impact. He shares the wisdom that came from that love experience with Gayle in his book, 126 Days, 11 Minutes: Our Love Story . "I wrote this story as a tribute to Gayle's extraordinary courage and embrace of life. I encourage all of the Gayles and Larrys out there who may be afraid to love to reconsider. Life is meant to be lived and loved in the now, not in the yesterdays or tomorrows." Also through this episode, he shares other lessons he's taken from his other losses, which include a tragic car accident that killed his aunt and older sister, leaving him as the sole survivor when he was 21. We all can feel hope for the future, knowing that every one of us has been given the gift of the ability to choose. After listening to today's episode, reflect on the choices you've made that made the most impact. Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar was a radio drama about a "fabulous" freelance insurance investigator "with the action-packed expense account." The show aired on CBS Radio from January 14, 1949 to September 30, 1962. There were 811 episodes in the 12-year run, and more than 720 still exist today. Each story started with a phone call from an insurance executive, calling on Johnny to investigate an unusual claim. Each story required Johnny to travel to some distant locale, usually within the United States but sometimes abroad, where he was almost always threatened with personal danger in the course of his investigations. Johnny's file on each case was usually referenced as a "matter," as in "The Silver Blue Matter" or "The Forbes Matter." Later episodes were more fanciful, with titles like "The Wayward Trout Matter" and "The Price of Fame Matter" (the latter featuring a rare guest-star appearance: Vincent Price). Each story was recounted in flashback, as Johnny listed each line item from his expense account. Most of the items related to transportation and lodging, but no incidental expense was too small for Johnny to itemize, as in "Item nine, 10 cents. Aspirin. I needed them." Johnny usually stuck to business, but would engage in romantic dalliances with women he encountered in his travels; later episodes gave Johnny a steady girlfriend, Betty Lewis. Johnny's precious recreational time was usually spent fishing, and it was not uncommon for Johnny's clients to exploit this favorite pastime in convincing him to take on a job. The episodes generally finished with Johnny tallying up his account, making final remarks on the report, and traveling back to Hartford, Connecticut, where he was based. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daniel-lantz/message

Wow, I’m shocked but not surprised. Oprah hasn’t been “black” for a long time so I guess it’s not entirely her fault? In this episode I rant about Oprah and Gayles age insecurities and ignorance . . . . Not only that, but next week their state's governor – who is a Presidential candidate – will be checking in for surgery. In this episode, we have a guest who did not read the book. Luckily, Bria is the nicest person in the world and we had a ton of fun talking with her. Plus she brought cookies. We really like treats okay? Tune in to see how we manage this one.
Herbicide resistance, it's a tricky beast! Simulation modelling is looking to help us understand it better and in shorter time frames though (phew). AHRI PhD Candidate Gayle Somerville explains the findings in her paper "Why was resistance to shorter-acting pre-emergence herbicides slower to evolve?". AHRI Director Steve Powles also gives us some context to how this research can be applied in the field.
