Hey y'all ! Welcome to another Friday with CWCOI ! In this week's episode, our host, Ally Yost shares her testimony and story with the Lord. If you've been here since the beginning of CWCOI, Ally shared her testimony for our first ever episode. She felt led to share it again as the Lord has continued to move and evolve in her life since then. Thank you Jesus for the ways you have and continue to deliver each and every one of us! "Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me! Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him." JUNE 1 | The Authority to Forgive Sin | Mark 2:1-12A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. They gathered in such large numbers that there was no room left, not even outside the door, and he preached the word to them. Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, “Why does this fellow talk like that? He's blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?”Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, “Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to this paralyzed man, ‘Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, ‘Get up, take your mat and walk'? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”

Sink or Walk on Water? Part Two In Walking on Water Part One, we looked at the following account of Yeshua walking on water: But the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind stopped. And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are certainly God's Son!” (Mt 14:24-33) Last week, we found one answer as to why Yeshua walked on water. We'll look at some other answers next week, but our second question was, “Why was Peter afraid of the wind?” Hadn't the wind been blowing just as fearfully up until then? He didn't think about that before he crawled out of the boat? Knowing what Peter knew about the dangerous time of the morning watch, the last watch of the night, we can venture an educated guess. To know what Peter knew, we refer to the Torah: “When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, ‘Up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city. But he hesitated. So the men seized his hand and the hand of his wife and the hands of his two daughters, for the compassion of the LORD was upon him; and they brought him out, and put him outside the city.'” (Ge 19:15-16) The sun had risen over the earth when Lot came to Zoar. Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven, and He overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground. But his wife, from behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. Now Abraham arose early in the morning and went to the place where he had stood before the LORD; and he looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the valley, and he saw, and behold, the smoke of the land ascended like the smoke of a furnace. (Ge 19:24-28) Yeshua came to rescue the disciples from the windstorm in the last watch of the night [in Roman calculation, the fourth watch; in Hebrew calculation, the third watch]. From the texts above, we can see that the last watch of the night before the dawn is a dangerous time. Especially back then, who could know the precise moment when the sun would break the horizon, ending the last watch and beginning the timeframe of morning? When the morning dawned, destruction could begin, rescue could end, or righteousness could view the destruction from afar, or “the place where he stood before the LORD.” In this account of Genesis Nineteen, Peter could see the traditional explanation of the destination of three groups of people: the righteous (Abraham), the lukewarm (Lot and his wife and daughters), and the wicked (the cities of Sodom). Yeshua reminds the Laodiceans in Revelation of the danger of remaining in the category of the lukewarm, who ultimately cannot stand in the same place as the righteous in the Kingdom. It doesn't mean they are not rescued, but it does mean they are not in good “standing” relative to the righteous. At the crossing of the Reed Sea, Peter has this reference for destruction following the last watch of the night: So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal state at daybreak,

Lent is a season to slow down and prepare our hearts for Easter. In this week’s Lent meditation, we continue encountering Jesus through the eyes of those He met in Scripture. Today, we witness a powerful moment of Jesus’s compassion as He meets a man with leprosy—an outcast longing for healing and restoration. Leprosy in the ancient world was more than a physical ailment; it meant complete isolation from family, community, and worship. But this man boldly approaches Jesus, asking for healing. Jesus, moved with compassion, does something unexpected—He reaches out and touches him. Why does Jesus touch him when He could have simply spoken a word of healing? And why does Jesus then give him a strong warning afterward? Through this guided Scripture meditation, we’ll step into this scene, engaging our imagination and listening for what Jesus wants to reveal to us. As we reflect on Mark 1:40-45, we’ll consider what this moment teaches us about Jesus’s heart and how He invites us to come to Him today. Take a deep breath, quiet your heart, and join me in encountering the compassion of Christ. I’ve created a FREE Lent Journal to help you reflect and pray through each meditation. It includes the Scripture passages, reflection prompts, and space to process your time with the Lord. You can download it here. The entire meditation text is as follows: Mark 1:40–45, NET Now a leper came to him and fell to his knees, asking for help. “If you are willing, you can make me clean,” he said. Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing. Be clean!” The leprosy left him at once, and he was clean. Immediately Jesus sent the man away with a very strong warning. He told him, “See that you do not say anything to anyone, but go, show yourself to a priest, and bring the offering that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” But as the man went out he began to announce it publicly and spread the story widely, so that Jesus was no longer able to enter any town openly but stayed outside in remote places. Still they kept coming to him from everywhere. Discover more Christian podcasts at lifeaudio.com and inquire about advertising opportunities at lifeaudio.com/contact-us.

Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.  Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It's a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid.” “Lord, if it's you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. (Matt 14: 22 – 30)The phrase, to “step out in faith”, probably comes from this occasion.  We usually say it when we are thinking of taking risk. For example, “I'm not sure if I'll get this job I am applying for, but I am going to take a step of faith”. But what is our faith in when we say that?We know from other stories in the gospels that Jesus loved faith. And still does. He loves faith in him. He praised the centurion for his clear, no-nonsense understanding of Jesus' authority to heal the sick. And he comforted the woman with the terrible bleeding condition with the words, “Take heart, daughter, your faith has healed you.” (Matt 9: 22)But Jesus doesn't force us to have faith. He waits for it, patiently, to be expressed. He didn't say to Peter, “come on, join me on the water, You can do it, just try!” He waited for Peter to form his own response to the situation. I think he does the same with us. Peter didn't take a risk based on the probabilities of being successful. He didn't close his eyes, lean his foot down on the surface of the water and hope for the best. He saw what Jesus was doing, spoke to him, formed a plan in his mind, checked it out with him (“Lord, if it's you, tell me to come to you on the water”), waited for Jesus to reply, and then, (and only then) he put a foot over edge of the hull, planting it on the choppy waters, and the rest in history. Peter's faith was on the Saviour in front of him and The Lord's word of encouragement to step out. I think there are some important keys here. First, try to discern what the Lord is doing. Don't just assume he will bless a risk, if you haven't worked out what his plans are. Second, when you have a sense of God's will after prayer and seeking his face, ask him: “Lord, if this is you, please confirm the decision I need to make”.  Third, when you have the green light to go, that is, the peace of God to proceed (as long as it involves no disobedience to Scripture), you are ready step out. Is God calling you to take a step of faith?

Mark 2:1-12A few days later, when Jesus again entered Capernaum, the people heard that he had come home. But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.”So he said to the man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” — Matthew 14:31 What is the craziest thing you have ever done? I could mention a few things from my younger days, but let's leave that to the imagination. How about in your life of faith? What is the craziest thing God has ever challenged you to do? Were you up for the challenge, or did you hear excuses in your head about why you couldn't possibly try? Did you jump in with both feet and find, to your surprise, that maybe it wasn't so impossible after all? I wonder how big the smile was on Jesus' face when Peter said, “Lord, if it's you . . . tell me to come to you on the water.” I love it that Peter was ready to test his faith even when things looked impossible. He stepped out of the boat looking at Jesus. And as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, his steps went in the right direction. Even with little faith, his walk on water was possible. But when Peter looked around him and saw the wind and deep water, he became afraid and started to sink. When Jesus asks for our trust, he knows there is a bigger story to be written. There are days when circumstances muddy the waters and the trust factor diminishes. Perhaps today is a day to refocus where you are looking. How can you keep your eyes on Jesus? Lord, help me to trust you with my life. Will you help me to walk and keep walking toward you? I need your help to keep my eyes focused on you and to trust you in the midst of the impossible. Amen.

Luke 7:36-40- One of the Pharisees named Simon invited Jesus to dine with him. While Jesus was sitting down, a woman in the city who was a sinner, who is assumed to be Mary Magdalene, brought a container of costly perfume. She started weeping and began to wet his feet with her tears.  Then she started wiping his feet with her hair.  Next, she kissed the feet of Jesus and anointed with the perfume.  Simon started wondering why Jesus allowed the sinful woman to touch His feet.  Immediately Jesus understood the thoughts of Simon and said the parable of the creditor or money lender.  What Jesus meant is that the woman loved Jesus a lot and did many things for Him.  Because of her love, her sins will be forgiven a lot. But the Pharisee named Simon did not express much love to Jesus, and so his sins will not be forgiven much. The ways we reveal our love to Jesus and others, why we cannot love Jesus and others, and the rewards of loving Jesus and others are discussed. My name... Cicily at cicilysunny@gmail.com

In an unbelievably instructive clip, we hear an economic advisor to Figurehead Biden who is unable to explain how the US financial system works. Zach Abraham shares what we can learn from this particular topic and how our economy is being impacted. And, it wouldn't be an interview with Zach without his vision for what we should be doing with our money. What does God's Word say? Matthew 6:25-3425 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?' or ‘What shall we drink?' or ‘What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.Matthew 14:22-3322 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Matthew 14:13-36   13 Now when Jesus heard about John, He withdrew from there in a boat to a secluded place by Himself; and when the people heard about this, they followed Him on foot from the cities.14 When He came ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick. 15 Now when it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, “This place is secluded and the hour is already past to eat; send the crowds away, so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” 16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go; you give them something to eat!” 17 They *said to Him, “We have nothing here except five loaves and two fish.” 18 And He said, “Bring them here to Me.”19 And ordering the crowds to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looked up toward heaven. He blessed the food and breaking the loaves, He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.20 And they all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up what was left over of the broken pieces: twelve full baskets. 21 There were about five thousand men who ate, besides women and children. Jesus Walks on the Water 22 Immediately afterward He compelled the disciples to get into the boat and to go ahead of Him to the other side, while He sent the crowds away. 23 After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone. 24 But the boat was already a long distance from the land, battered by the waves; for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. 26 When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.” 28 Peter responded and said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and came toward Jesus. 30 But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and when he began to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus reached out with His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 When they got into the boat, the wind stopped. 33 And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are truly God's Son!” 34 When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. 35 And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent word into all that surrounding region and brought to Him all who were sick; 36 and they pleaded with Him that they might just touch the border of His cloak; and all who touched it were cured.     BIBLE READING GUIDE - FREE EBOOK - Get the free eBook, Bible in Life, to help you learn how to read and apply the Bible well: https://www.listenerscommentary.com     GIVE -  The Listener's Commentary is a listener supported Bible teaching ministry made possible by the generosity of people like you. Doub and brad welcome Zach Terry Al Mohler spoke today at the NEFLCC More about Pastor Terry ------------------ Mark 2:1-13 (NASB) When He had come back to Capernaum several days afterward, it was heard that He was at home. 2 And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room, not even near the door; and He was speaking the word to them. 3  And they *came, bringing to Him a paralytic, carried by four men. 4 Being unable to get to Him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above Him; and when they had dug an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic was lying. 5 And Jesus seeing their faith *said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” 6 But some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, 7 “Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming; who can forgive sins but God alone?” 8 Immediately Jesus, aware in His spirit that they were reasoning that way within themselves, *said to them, “Why are you reasoning about these things in your hearts? 9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven'; or to say, ‘Get up, and pick up your pallet and walk'? 10 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—He *said to the paralytic, 11 “I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet and go home.” 12 And he got up and immediately picked up the pallet and went out in the sight of everyone, so that they were all amazed and were glorifying God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this.” 13 And He went out again by the seashore; and all the people were coming to Him, and He was teaching them.   ------------------ 5 Core Values of SWAT 1. It was your faith that brought you into a relationship with Jesus Christ. Faith was your response to the grace of God. The Bible says we are saved by our faith in Jesus. Yet, God is not just asking us for faith that leads to salvation. He's asking for daily faith.Main Points:1. Everyday, you and I live by faith. Every day we must trust God. We trust him for our spiritual growth. We place our faith in him to lead and guide our steps and our future. We live by faith as we put our families, their health, and safety in His hands. 2. Our knowledge is limited. We don't know what a day will bring. We certainly don't know what tomorrow holds for us. So, we live by faith. Daily, we choose to trust our lives to the hands of God. 3. I know sometimes I'm like Peter. I take my eyes off of Jesus and I begin to look at the wind and the waves. I've noticed that what I focus on gets bigger in my life. If I focus on life's circumstances and the uncertainties of tomorrow, they get larger in my mind. But if I intentionally focus on Jesus, He is magnified. Today's Scripture Verses:Matthew 14:29 - “Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.”Matthew 14:30-31 - “But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”Galatians 2:20 - “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”Quick Links:Subscribe to The 5 Minute Discipleship NewsletterDonate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group5 Minute Discipleship on Instagram
