My dear friend, actor-sing-dancer 25-year old Web Heyliger, along with his producer/editor/friend Temo Fregoso, joins us to talk about the The Web Heyliger Show on YouTube. The first episode premiers on Friday, September 25.Web decided to tell his story on Youtube as a way to promote his unpublished memoir (working title Fabulous at 45 Degrees - a reference to his scoliosis.) As a way of connecting with and supporting others going through their own challenges and difficulties fitting in, Web shares his take on being gay, born with one lung, scoliosis, working as a background actor in Hollywood, his first kiss, how he came out to his parents, life and what he’s still learning.I brought Web on the show because of his unabashed way of just being Web. He is a delightful, happy person who lives a large life being authentically himself. That life is not without it’s challenges and we certainly explore those. I am thrilled that his partner in the The Web Heyliger Show and an established Youtuber in his own right, Temo, was able to join us.Some of the snippets from our conversation include:Boys playing with Barbies and wearing high heelsSelf-acceptanceBeing homeschooledLiving authenticallyToo gay to sell real estate?Web’s fascination with mega-star Jennifer Lopez, and the J-Lo dolls that travel the globe with himThe reality of the casting couchTraveling with the Smile Train (smiletrain.org) Connect with Web Heyliger:Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxJ1gYyGIS15LzJeWuAtviQ Twitter: https://twitter.com/WebHeyligerFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/webheyligerofficialInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/webheyliger/?hl=enConnect with Temo Fregoso:twitter.com/temofregosoinstagram.com/createdbytemowww.fregosophotography.comwww.temofregoso.comFind more episodes at http://www.livingthegoodlife.mediaJoin us in the Living the Good Life Facebook Group!https://www.facebook.com/groups/LTGLCommunityHosted by Kimberly Henrie: www.kimberlyhenrie.com

This is episode 2009 of the Vibrant Living Series. I’m Kimberly Henrie and this is Living the Good Life. Guest: Cathy HeyligerAuthor of children’s book, Love is... https://www.amazon.com/Love-Cathy-Heyliger/dp/1793382638/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=heyliger+cathy&qid=1590162275&sr=8-1Host: Kimberly Henrie, www.kimberlyhenrie.comMore episodes: www.kimberlyhenrie.com/the-show Today’s topic is about acceptance. Not only acceptance but our response to unexpected circumstances. There’s been a bit of that going around lately. Many of us feel knocked around by Federal, State and Local executive orders, CDC guidelines, masks, no-masks, social distancing, isolation and more. Some are doing better than others, but we are all affected in one way or another. We question who has our best interests at heart and we struggle with safety versus economy and all that entails. Several of our guests in this vibrant living series have shared wisdom that can help us navigate. Mindfulness practitioner Brenda Chamberlain in episode 2002 spoke about how a mindfulness practice can help us to respond productively to these circumstances rather than reacting wildly out of fear or anger. Bruce Cryer, Marcia Martin and Tom Terwilliger all shared important teachings on mindset and how we can move through fear and be empowered in our response. I love Marcia’s verbal illustration of breaking free of the prison we created for ourself. When we can take a pause, mindfulness, assess our circumstances, awareness, and understand that how we participate in our circumstances dictates not only our reality but how we feel about that reality and the amount of joy or self-satisfaction we live with… we become empowered individuals. That doesn’t mean we are all going to agree on the guidelines and executive orders. However, if we can shift our mindset to understanding that most all of us are navigating this the best we can, including business owners and leaders of government at all levels, then hopefully we can be more effective in discussing solutions and showing grace for ourselves and each other when the fear does get in the way.In this episode, I want to share a meaningful conversation that I had with a local author last year about this time. Cathy Heyliger created a children’s book titled Love is…. When I saw her two grown boys read the book aloud on social media, I had to get to know the woman behind it and learn how it all came about. As I listened to it again today, I realized, though on the surface the subject is different from the coronavirus pandemic we are facing today, the divisiveness and the acceptance message of it all still applies. The uncertainty on how to proceed, how to navigate new information, new reality is relatable. I hope you find a nugget or two that speaks to you as I sit down with the author of Love is… Cathy Heyliger.More on Cathy Heyliger:The author Cathy Heyliger of Love is… wanted to share this book with other parents because of her unique experience as not only a parent, but an early childhood educator. As a Montessori preschool teacher since the late 80’s, she knows how much wisdom the young child carries in their heart. How very aware they are of who they are and how they fit into the world. It is our job as parents to help them be aware of all the aspects of being human and prevent them from suffering whenever possible. One of her sons knew there was something different about him in kindergarten when he had a crush on a boy named Quinn. It was at that moment in his life that he started to question how he fit into the heterosexual world. Every year it became more solidified and more defined in his mind that he did not fit. Instead of thinking it was okay he began to hate himself for being different, he thought he was a freak. Her husband and she had no idea he was grappling with these thoughts. If only they had been more aware of his conflict, they could they have addressed and possibly prevented his pain. This book is her prevention method! There are lots of books out there about my two mommies or two daddies, but unless you are from a family like this, it is not necessarily a book you would seek out or pick up. She did not… but wishes with all her heart she would have! It would have prevented years of heartache for both of her precious sons who came out in their early teens. She aches to know of all the men and women out there who have gone through any part their lives hiding their secret to try and fit in! She also understands how terribly painful it must be for a child who begins to realize they are transgender! Her most fervent hope is that Love is… is an early and first step in exposing our children to the ideas of acceptance and love for whoever they are!!!Previous episodes referenced:LTGL 2002 - Brenda Chamberlain, Mindfulness Practionerhttps://www.kimberlyhenrie.com/the-show/episode/79b66edc/ltgl2002-vibrant-living-series-brendachamberlain-mindfulness-coachLTGL 2006 - Bruce Cryer, Heartmathhttps://www.kimberlyhenrie.com/the-show/episode/78df1c1f/ltgl2006-vibrant-living-series-brucecryer-heartmathLTGL 2007 - Marcia Martin, Reach Your Full Potentialhttps://www.kimberlyhenrie.com/the-show/episode/79cec1ef/ltgl2007-vibrant-living-series-marcia-martin-reach-your-full-potentialLTGL 2008 - Tom Terwilliger, The Comeback Planhttps://www.kimberlyhenrie.com/the-show/episode/7990f5e3/ltgl2008-vibrant-living-series-tomterwilliger-the-comeback-plan

Guest: Dr. Thomas WesselTrailhead Chiropracticwww.trailheadchiro.comwww.ampednow.comHost: Kimberly Henrie, www.kimberlyhenrie.com Special thanks to Fruition Studio www.fruitionstudio.com This is living the good life podcast episode 2003, I’m Kimberly Henrie. Today, in our Vibrant Living series, we’ll be talking about the benefits of chiropractic, how to choose the appropriate professional technique and professional for you, why chiropractic may be beneficial and what to do if you can’t get to your chiropractor right now. We’ve got a lot to talk about, so let’s get started.Kimberly: Our Guest today is the owner of Trailhead Chiropractic, a graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic, and specializes in pregnancy and pediatrics with a certification in the Webster technique, and practices Torque Release Technique in his offices at Trailhead Chiropractic, where he is the owner and I think Smoke (dog) is the manager. Welcome. Dr. Tom Wessel. Dr. Tom: Hi, Kim. You so much for having me. I really appreciate it. Kimberly: We appreciate you jumping on here and helping us learn a little bit more about how we can take control of our situation, our circumstances, and create the best life possible. That's what it's all about. Right? Dr. Tom: That's the goal. Kimberly: Exactly. Yeah. So, how are you spending this time during the quarantine this the stay-at-home order. Dr. Tom: We are spending our time just getting outside as much as possible. Just enjoying the sunshine. We live in a rural area and so get outside enjoying the sunshine staying active, you know, just not let trying not to let that boredom take over.Kimberly: Right. Well, we live in a beautiful place. We both live here in Colorado. So we're very fortunate. There's a lot of things to get out and do and a lot of space to do it. That's awesome. And I know you're looking forward to getting back into the office very much. So what do you think folks should be doing right now if they can't and we want to talk about Chiropractic and why that's a benefit but there's a lot of folks who can't get in to see their chiropractor right now. So what kind of recommendations do you have for them? Dr. Tom: Yeah. So Chiropractic is all about adapting the body to deal with stress and so in a time where you cannot further adapt your body to deal with those stressors in your life, what you want to do is limit your stress even more than you normally would now stress comes down to three things and that's thoughts traumas and toxins. Okay, those are all types of stress and so keeping your mind active not letting those negative thoughts take over would be one part of that staying active staying healthy exercising eating correctly. So you're not putting toxins in your body. Basically just living a healthy lifestyle as best as you possibly can will not only increase your body's ability to adapt to stress. It will also increase your body's ability to adapt to other things such as what's going on right now currently with this virus pandemic. Kimberly: Right. I love practicing daily breathwork. Breath work for me is a total stress reliever along with the exercise and getting outside just brings everything down to a nice calm gentle level. Tell me, let's kind of go back to your journey here. Why are you a chiropractor? What drew you into the profession? And what do you find helpful and beneficial about offering that service? Dr. Tom: It's interesting. I think I think you and I have talked about this before. I don't remember but I was drawn into Chiropractic at a very young age. I grew up in northern Wisconsin and my father was a Forester. So instead of paying for daycare, I would just go to work with him every day....Thanks again to Dr. Thomas Wessel for educating us today. You can reach out to Dr. Tom at trailheadchiro.com.
