The 2025-2026 NBA season is rapidly approaching. It has been an interesting offseason with a bunch of storylines as teams have made moves and try to position themselves for future success. How will the league respond to various issues it's facing as well? This week, Kwab from The Dime with Josh & Kwab podcast joined the show for a dive into some prevalent NBA offseason storylines. It was a fantastic and entertaining discussion! But first, the guys dove into some Philadelphia Phillies talk as this team has been on a roll. Of course, there was discussion about the Phillies Karen, but the guys talked about this team looks heading into October and the postseason. (Approx. 3:20)From there, they discussed how this Eagles team looked after week 1, the fact that Jalen Carter will be suiting up against the Chiefs, CB2 concerns, and the trade for RB Tank Bigsby. (Approx. 13:55)The guys then talked about how the Philadelphia Union have been on a roll and how it has been a successful season. (Approx. 24:25)Then the guys dove into some NBA talk with the L.A. Clippers and Kawhi Leonard situation as the team apparently tried to circumvent the salary cap in what could be the biggest NBA scandal of the 21at century. Also, there's not a ton of excitement heading into this Sixers season. (Approx. 30:30)What they threw down on the Table this week was a great, in-depth conversation about a number of NBA storylines with Kwab from The Dime with Josh & Kwab podcast. LeBron James talks to China about the NBA to patch up the relationship. How we're continuing to see “copycat behavior” from teams during the offseason. The Dallas Mavericks extended P.J. Washington - what does it mean for their team long-term? Plus, projections about the Eastern Conference. All of this and much more this week on the Table! Tobin & Leroy talk about the Fins as they get ready to take on the New England Patriots on Sunday. They're ready to move on from the loss to take on the Pats. We hear from QWB Tua Tagovailoa and his answers tin his presser didn't give Tobin any sense of confidence. Leroy will be upset of he doesn't see any adjustments from Mike McDaniel and the offense. The guys talk some NBA basketball as Tobin wants to know what is going on with Heat guard Terry Rozier who gabling probe was thought to be over but NBA commissioner while talking at the Board of governors meeting saying any player that was involved in the gambling probe will be investigated by the NBA. Speaking if the Heat Tobin talks about the Lakers being interested in Heat wing player Andrew Wiggins. They share who they like in the game and wonder if the Commanders success last season will continue this season. We pick things back up as Leroy is finally back from his Cleveland hit! We hear from Mike McDaniel which of course leaves us all puzzled. Tobin shares a hilarious story about how Dolphin fans have started a gofundme for a flag to fly over the stadium that will read fire Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel, we don't knock the hustle! Then it is time for our favorite Wednesday game Rats Off A Ship! Jon Gruden to Miami and Andrew Wiggins to the Lakers?
It's another wild ride on the Tobin and Leroy Show, and the Dolphins are still living rent-free in Leroy's head—so much so that he had to explain to his doctor why his heart rate's been through the roof since Sunday. We kick things off with a mix of leftover Dolphins frustration, a look ahead to the Canes' highly anticipated matchup with USF, and Tobin trying (and failing) to get Brittney hyped for Canelo vs Crawford using bad F1 analogies. Just when Tobin thinks he's dodged Dolphins talk for a segment to talk about boxing, Leroy hijacks it with some Tua takes. In Hour 2, “Hour Tua” is officially suspended (for now), but that doesn't stop Tobin from relapsing into EuroBasket updates—despite saying he was done. While Leroy steps out for a Cleveland hit, Tobin and Brittney dive into more Canes talk, and then it's time for the always unpredictable “Mixed Bag,” featuring soundbites from Stephen A. Smith, Steve Sarkisian, and Jerry Jones. Leroy returns in Hour 3 just in time to be confused by Mike McDaniel again, and we get into a hilarious story about Dolphins fans launching a GoFundMe for a “Fire Grier and McDaniel” banner to fly over Hard Rock Stadium. We don't knock the hustle. Then it's time for our favorite Wednesday tradition—Rats Off A Ship—with rumors flying about Jon Gruden to Miami and Andrew Wiggins to the Lakers. Finally, in Hour 4, the Dolphins pain continues with injury news about Austin Jackson, and former Dolphins RB Ricky Williams joins the show to preach patience to the fanbase. Tobin immediately agrees with him—much to Leroy's frustration, since he's been saying the same thing for weeks. Naturally, Tobin has to keep the heart rate rising by playing a McDaniel clip on Darren Waller, leaving Leroy completely speechless.
The rumor mill is getting filled up with the latest gossip, and the guys from the Lakers Fast Break are back once again to try to weed through fact from fiction. The latest hot talk has Miami sending Andrew Wiggins to LA. Would this seriously help the Lakers, or is this some unnecessary money on the books? Plus, are you guys still nervous about Luka playing more games in Euro Basketball? Will he end up being too tired coming into camp? The guys are also talking about the NFL and who's better, Austin Reaves or Josh Giddey? We ponder all the questions as once again we take a deep dive into the rumor mill on the latest Lakers Fast Break podcast!Check out Dodgers baseball on Playback at https://www.playback.tv/thejoesorooxperimentJoe's new game Coreupt is OUT NOW! Justice Bartley has been around basketball royalty since the beginning of time. From his God Fathers Kenny Smith & Kenny Anderson, to coaching NBA stars like Lebron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Dame Lillard, if theres one person who's seen greatness at it's absolute pinnacle, It's justice! Which is why it comes as no surprise, that as he transitions from basketball into the tech space, that he's building an ecosystem that will change the way athletes interact in the marketplace. We're talking lifetime monetization, owning your own IP, and truly honing in on what it means to capitalize on your name image and likeness. Insert ASTN! We talk what the fallout was from that moment, that culminated in the ultimate redemption the following year! And of course, we touch on Justice's time in the NBA with the Lakers, Bucks, and Trailblazers and getting to work alongside all-time greats such as Lebron, Giannis, and Dame! This week on Slappin' Glass, we sit down with NBA and G-League coach Coby Karl for a thoughtful and wide-ranging conversation on leadership, teaching, and connecting the many layers of a basketball program.Coach Karl shares his philosophy of “coaching the whole”—how schemes, relationships, and organizational dynamics all intertwine to shape performance. We dive into:Building Flow and Simplicity: Why starting with fundamentals like spacing and pattern recognition is the foundation for freedom, creativity, and player confidence.Coaching Human Beings, Not Just Players: How empathy, integrity, and trust form the backbone of development both on and off the court.Leadership Depth and Growth: The personal challenges, failures, and reflections that help coaches evolve in meaningful ways.Tactical Insights: From the value of opening possessions with a cut, to designing pressure releases, shoot-around efficiency, and adjusting systems to fit personnel.Failure as Micro vs. Macro: How to reframe mistakes as opportunities for learning while balancing the real-world stakes of professional coaching. And of course, Coach Karl joins the always-fun “Start, Sub, or Sit” segment to break down offensive concepts and leadership lessons with his signature depth and honesty.Whether you're a coach, player, or fan of the game, this episode offers a masterclass in how basketball's details, relationships, and philosophies all connect to create something greater than the sum of its parts. To join coaches and championship winning staffs from the NBA to High School from over 60 different countries taking advantage of an SG Plus membership, visit HERE!

4. When Politicians Panicked: The New Corona Virus, Expert Opinion, and a Tragic Lapse of Reason by John Tamney, argues that the severe economic contraction experienced in 2020 was primarily a consequence of politicians' panicked reactions and forced lockdowns, rather than the inherent lethality of the COVID-19 virus itself. Tamney highlights Governor Cuomo's March 20, 2020, decision to shut down New York, portraying the economy as a "valve" that could be arbitrarily opened and closed, which led to an immediate and severe contraction that persisted long after. The book contends that financial markets had already accounted for the virus's severity based on early signals from China, where US companies like Apple, GM, Nike, and Starbucks maintained strong performance, indicating the virus was not indiscriminately lethal. The real market panic, leading to a "very quick correction," occurred when politicians demonstrated their ability to "wreck an economy" through drastic actions like shutting down events such as South by Southwest in Texas. This response is contrasted with the 1968 Hong Kong flu pandemic, which caused 100,000 American deaths (equivalent to 250,000 today) but saw no significant market reaction or political lockdowns, primarily because technology at the time made such widespread closures impractical without risking "mass riots". Tamney criticizes the government's subsequent interventions, such as the CARES Act and the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), for being akin to "central planning" imposed on top of political decrees. He argues these programs indiscriminately propped up entities like private schools, Harvard, and the Los Angeles Lakers, instead of allowing market forces to determine which businesses would adapt or fail. This "nationalization of investment" through government checks and loans was deemed anti-investment and merely delayed recovery by diverting capital from those most capable of investing to those most likely to consume, which does not drive economic growth. The author advocates for economic growth and individual freedom as the most effective responses to health threats. He points to examples like the voluntary disappearance of hand sanitizer and toilet paper before official shutdowns, and an individual living in a tent in Florida to protect his family despite no mandates, demonstrating that people don't need laws to avoid illness. Tamney suggests that a constitutional "right to contract" and return to work should protect individuals from such mandates. He concludes that the resilience shown by private enterprise, such as Pfizer developing a vaccine without "Operation Warp Speed" money, underscores that a healthy economy fostered by freedom is the best defense against disease. The core lesson, he asserts, is "never again take away people's freedom". 1919 TEXAS
