In the summer of 2021, SPC Christian Sutton reluctantly attended a punk rock concert and was intrigued by a bone marrow registration table there. Inspired, he created Operation Ring the Bell, a series of donor drive events that has taken place at multiple Army bases and led to thousands of new possible bone marrow donors—and saved lives. Hosts LTC (Ret.) Les Smith and LaSherryn Duncan sit down with SPC Sutton to discuss how his life has been driven by volunteering, how a few Afghan refugees have inspired him, and how his vision turned the Army into a worldwide leader in bone marrow donations. Guest: SPC Christian Sutton, Founder and Lead Coordinator, Operation Ring the Bell Has a member of the Army positively changed your life? Now is your chance to thank them publicly with a shoutout via our Hooah Hotline and have it possibly appear on an upcoming episode of AUSA's Army Matters podcast! Arrington welcomes Les Smith, Candidate for Chesapeake City Council.

Murraylands war veterans Les Smith and Keith Wood have been fighting for recognition for years for their presence and sacrifice in Malaysia to protect the RAAF Butterworth base during the resurgence of the communist insurgency between 1968 and 1989. They join Jennie Lenman in studio to discuss their campaign. "The nominal closing date for submissions to the Tribunal was 1 July 2022, however late submissions may be accepted as the inquiry progresses. "As the Tribunal's inquiry is ongoing Defence will not make further comment on this matter."
This episode of The Conversation's In Depth Out Loud podcast features the story of a young Soviet miner named Alexei Stakhanov, and how the work ethic he embodied in the 1930s has been invoked by managers in the west ever since.Stakhanov's staggering workload and personal commitment to his job as a miner in Stalin's Soviet Union became the embodiment of a new human type and the beginning of a new social and political trend known as “Stakhanovism”. Bogdan Costea, professor of management and society at Lancaster University, and Peter Watt, international lecturer in management and organisation studies at Lancaster University in Leipzig, argue that the spectre of this long-forgotten Soviet miner still haunts our workplace culture today. You can read the text version of this in-depth article here.
