Motherhood is holy ground. It's also some of the hardest, most heart-stretching work a woman can be called to. In this special Mother's Day episode of the Raising Godly Girls Podcast, American Heritage Girls Founder & Executive Director Patti Garibay welcomes Whitney Newby—author, artist, and founder of Brighter Day Press—for a heartfelt conversation about the beauty and sacred responsibility of raising children to know and follow Jesus.  Whether you're a mom who feels steady in her calling or one who's running on empty, this episode is for you. Patti and Whitney unpack the real struggles moms face—especially the difficulty of maintaining consistent time with the Lord—and speak hope into that tension. With honesty and grace, Whitney shares wisdom from her devotional Lift Your Eyes, reminding moms that God sees, sustains, and strengthens us in every season: from the tear-filled days to the joy-soaked moments and the countless in-between.  Together, Patti and Whitney explore how the promises of Scripture can anchor a mother's heart, how to find life-giving rest in Christ, and how to build rhythms of faith into your family's everyday routine—even when life feels chaotic. You'll also hear encouragement for spiritually leading your children when you feel inadequate or overwhelmed.  This episode is a soul-deep breath of fresh air for moms in every stage. If you've ever asked, “Is God enough for what I'm facing today?”—tune in, and let this conversation point your eyes back to the only One who truly is.  Learn more about Whitney's gospel-centered family discipleship resources at brighterdaypress.com  Find an American Heritage Girls Troop near you, visit americanheritagegirls.org       Add even more Biblical wisdom to your parenting quiver, visit raisinggodlygirls.com

Notably, he serves as the President of A Brighter Day Charity, a 501c(3) organization born from personal tragedy—the loss of his youngest son, Jake, in 2015. A Brighter Day Charity's outreach has profoundly impacted numerous families, solidifying its role as a beacon of hope in the lives of teens and parents alike. THE POWER OF EMPATHY IN ENTREPRENEURSHIPA word you don't hear frequently when discussing business and dealmaking is “empathy”. Elliot, however, has made it a goal of his to implement this emotion into his business and dealmaking. In fact, he believes it is a crucial trait for entrepreneurs, as it allows them to truly understand and connect with their clients' needs and aspirations. By utilizing empathy within his business and dealmaking, Elliot is enabled to build some of the strongest relationships with his clients. By genuinely caring about his clients' well-being and success – going so far as to treat them as family – he creates a unique and approachable experience that is unmatched in the financial advisory industry. THE IMPORTANCE OF PERSEVERANCE IN ENTREPRENEURSHIPElliot is no stranger to challenges, not just in his professional life, but also in his personal life. These challenges have highlighted the importance of perseverance for Elliot – and it should be something that all entrepreneurs learn. Perseverance is a crucial trait for entrepreneurs to possess and cultivate. The path of entrepreneurship is often filled with challenges, setbacks, and failures. It requires the ability to keep going despite these obstacles and maintain a relentless pursuit of success. Without perseverance, many entrepreneurs would give up at the first sign of difficulty, missing out on the opportunities and growth that come from pushing through adversity. Frankly put, perseverance is sometimes what separates successful entrepreneurs from those who fall short. Elliot is a three time CEO with a passion for working with family businesses to achieve a meaningful life beyond financial measure. Listen in as they discuss the emotional aspect of family businesses and the hypothetical umbilical cord that's hard to sever. It could be a reason why family business owners want their kids to take over– so they can stay close to the action. Or, they may be reluctant to let go of their company baby and plan to work until they die.  Does the next generation even want to own the business, or do they want the wealth from an exit and the ability to move on? And what's your retirement strategy? Make it more than watching four hours of TV a day. Elliot is a proponent of creating a meaningful life. He shared the heart-wrenching story of his youngest son's death by suicide, and how he's honoring his memory by taking action to help other families. Hello and welcome to How Did I Get Here? From The Vault! In celebration of 30 years of Jellyfish's classic album, Spilt Milk, today we go back to episode 536 with Craig Dorfman, author of "Brighter Day: A Jellyfish Story"! This show was originally released on 10/24/2016. Below are my original notes form the show.  Are you a fan of the band, Jellyfish? Do you ever wonder why they only released two albums (Bellybutton - 1991, Spilt Milk - 1993) and broke up? Do you ever wonder what ever happened to the members of the band? Well, for episode 536 I talk to Craig Dorfman, the man who wrote the book about Jellyfish. The book is called, "Brighter Day: A Jellyfish Story" Craig just picked up distribution last week, so it should make its way into some stores in the next few months, but for now you can get it the "Brighter Day: A Jellyfish Story" facebook page. I reached out to Craig and got a copy of the book. I absolutely loved it. Jellyfish is one of my favorite bands and it was great to hear the whole story told by the people that lived it and told in a single narrative that keeps you engaged the whole time. Craig and I have a great conversation about finding the dozens of people involved in the story and interviewing them and working on the book for over 7 years, his love of music and these guys and their life story and much, much more. I hope you enjoy getting to know Craig. I sure did. Let's get down! If you feel so inclined. Venmo: venmo.com/John-Goudie-1  Paypal: paypal.me/johnnygoudie

Elliot Kallen, is the the President and Founder of A Brighter Day Charity. Seven years ago, his son Jake, a sophomore at the University of Montana, walked up the highway and jumped in front of an oncoming truck, taking his life. In his suicide note, he wrote that he would have never told his family how he felt or taken their help. They  were devastated and shocked and have since learned that thousands of families had the same experience. None of his friends, family, or his coaches knew that he was struggling with depression. In honor of Jake, they began this charity six years ago by creating resources for teens and parents on stress and depression to stop teen suicide. We have now grown to become a charity that has impacted tens of thousands of families.https://www.facebook.com/uniteforabrighterday/https://abrighterday.info/If you want a speaker in your school, email liz@savethekids.org and we will get you hooked up! Clint Davis interviewed Elliot Kallen founder of A Brighter Day! This is a foundation that helps teens and families with suicide prevention. They do three major things 1. A text service to help teens in crisis 2. A parent support group 3. A free parent and teen tool kit!
