For the last 25 years, costs have been the driver for most businesses. As the supply chain was a stable space, choosing a supplier was about reducing costs and picking a product based on the design already created. However, geopolitical reasons and the COVID-19 pandemic redesigned the supply chain landscape; it transformed it into a brittle, flaky, and very unstable terrain. I'm your host, Steph Chavez, a Senior Product Marketing Manager with Siemens. I'm glad to be joined by Matt Bromley, Vice President of Product Strategy and Technology with Siemens. Today, he'll help us understand Siemens' approach to optimization in the supply chain and how that applies to designing for supply chain resilience. In this episode, you'll hear about how to deal with supply chain instability, why engineering, procurement, and NPI, are no longer operating in silos, and the new way of looking at single components trust. Additionally, you'll learn about what's being done in the components authenticity realm and what is being done to identify threats in the supply chain. What You'll Learn in this Episode: What has changed in the supply chain, how that affects the market, and how it operates (2:06) How to evaluate if we are having a data resiliency problem (5:51) How does a trusted supply chain affect optimization (8:51) What is the value of knowing where a component is used (14:41) How's the Root of Trust principle being applied to components' authenticity (15:31) Connect with Matt Bromley LinkedIn Connect with Steph Chavez LinkedIn Hosted on Acast. Increased electronics complexity has directly impacted all stages of the design and manufacturing processes. This comes at a time when companies are being pushed by market forces to cut the time to market and still make quality products at affordable prices. One of the possible ways to meet these expectations is through the automation of some of the resource-consuming tasks within the design stage.Today's hosts are Nicholas Finberg of Siemens Global Marketing, and Tim Kinman, Vice President of Trending Solutions and Global Program Lead for Systems Digitalization at Siemens Digital Industries Software. They are joined by Mark Malinoski and Matt Bromley from the EDA space to talk about vertical connected development. In this episode, you'll learn about the challenges that can be solved by automating some tasks within the design process. You'll also learn about the benefits of continuous verification and how it impacts product design adaptability. Lastly, you'll hear about what the future holds for MBSE and the role that increased complexity will play in the world of electronics. What You'll Learn in this Episode:How automation can play an important role in MBSE (00:43)The challenges that stem from a lack of continuous verification in electronics design (05:11)How the supply chain is evolving and the cause of the changes being experienced (08:06)What the future holds for MBSE (12:47)Connect with Matt Bromley: LinkedInConnect with Mark Malinoski: LinkedInConnect with Tim Kinman: LinkedInConnect with Nicholas Finberg: LinkedIn See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
As electronics become more complex, the task of designing has become more demanding. Improvement of a single component in most cases requires a change of several other components and subsystems. To achieve this, companies have had to shift from the traditional product design approach to a digital approach that allows for e-building and testing before the prototype stage is reached.Today's hosts are Nicholas Finberg of Siemens Global Marketing, and Tim Kinman, Vice President of Trending Solutions and Global Program Lead for Systems Digitalization at Siemens Digital Industries Software. They are joined by Mark Malinoski and Matt Bromley from the EDA space to talk about vertical connected development. In this episode, you'll learn about the impact that complexity is having on the electronics design process. You'll also understand how digital twins and digital threads assist in managing collaboration by enhancing traceability and observability. Lastly, you'll learn about the challenges faced when decomposing down to silicone and then recomposing the system. What You'll Learn in this Episode:The impact that complexity is having on MBSE (04:10)The challenge of decomposing systems architecture so as to have common context (07:48)Why customers like to get an early architecture that meets specified requirements (10:58)What it looks like as you drill down and refine an electronic systems architecture (14:44)Why complexity increases as you move towards individual domains (21:44)Connect with Matt Bromley: LinkedInConnect with Mark Malinoski: LinkedInConnect with Tim Kinman: LinkedInConnect with Nicholas Finberg: LinkedIn See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Over the Edge follows the journey of surfer, Matt Bromley, from the freezing waters of Cape Town to the pinnacle of big wave surfing at Pe‘ahi (Jaws), in Hawaii. The motivating force driving him from one challenge to the next, Bromley says, is fear. Or, more accurately, the rush he gets from overcoming it. “Everyone feels fear. It's healthy to be afraid,” he says. “But it's how you deal with it that counts. No matter what you're facing, fear can be used as a tool to accomplish your goals. When you lean into the fear and move through it, that's when the magic happens.”
Ofsted's inspection framework requires schools in England to focus on the intent, implementation and impact of their curriculum. Last year, Matt Bromley, author of School and College Curriculum Design, discussed his six-step process for curriculum intent (https://bit.ly/3cl68fY). Now we invite Matt back to focus on curriculum implementation and impact. Implementation: Translating curriculum into teaching and long-term learning; acquiring and applying learning; how pupils' memory works; effective learning environments; the right culture and systems; workload; collaboration; CPD... Impact: What is assessment? What are we assessing? How can we ensure assessment is effective? Improving marking/feedback and deciding upon your outcomes.

They discuss the impact Covid-19 has had on workload and what schools might learn about flexible working.
If you’re a big-wave surfer — and, a big-wave surfer from Cape Town, South Africa — it’s not about quantity; it’s about quality. Matt Bromley is a Professional Big Wave Surfer from Cape Town, South Africa. Growing up in Kommetjie, a seaside village on the South Peninsular of Cape Town, Matt had access to several big wave surf spots on his doorstep such as Sunsets and Dungeons Reef. In this SecEd Podcast, Matt Bromley interviews assistant headteacher, Zoe Evans, about her work on embedding literacy, numeracy and digital competency skills across the curriculum at her school in Colwyn Bay, North Wales. Zoes takes us through the process she followed including the creation of a ’skills team’ and the identification of the common skills that students need to use in most subject disciplines. Zoe also talks about establishing a common language for learning across her school, and of the importance of consistency in the key words and definitions teachers use, in order to aid transfer of knowledge across subject fields. Zoe explains how her school is now sharing its approach to skills development across Wales in partnership with the Welsh government.
In this SecEd Podcast, Matt Bromley interviews former headteacher, David Birch, about his work as part of the Forgotten Third Commission, which looked into how to improve the prospects of students who do not achieve at least a Grade 4 pass in GCSE English and maths. The fact that this represents about a third of 16-year-olds year-in, year-out is not an accident but the product of the system of comparable outcomes whereby the spread of GCSE grades is pegged to what cohorts of similar ability achieved in the past. The Commission points out that young people who fall below this bar pay a high price and its report focused specifically on how we can do better for these students in respect of English, though many of its observations could also be applied to maths. David talks to Matt about each of the Commission’s findings and brings us up to date with the group’s work, including the recent creation of a Passport in English. The discussion also touches upon Pupil Premium practice, including the problems of an intervention-heavy approach ahead of a focus on the quality of teaching and learning and cultural capital and aspiration.
