Esclarecedor.

Our guest this week is an unbelievable Surfer out of Brazil, who has been a standout in the lineup for years, and he is only 23 years old. His aerial antics and powerful rail game is next level and having those 2 combinations make him a threat in any conditions. When Stab throws out the question- “Is Mateus Herdy A Julian Wilson Reincarnated” You know this kid is the real deal. He just missed out on qualifying for the WCT in a couple of back-to-back years, but that hasn't stopped him from being in the spotlight. He is a World Junior Champion, finished 3rd in the CT Event in Mexico, and is a standout on Stab Magazine whether it is Stab High, Stab Highway California or Stab Edit of the Year entry. We welcome this next-level and highly creative Wizkid--Mateus “MATTY“ Herdy.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Five-time world champion Carissa Moore started surfing at age 5 with her dad in the hallowed waters of Waikiki. As an amateur, she won 11 national titles. In 2008, at the age of 16, Moore became the youngest winner of the Triple Crown of Surfing. She qualified for the WCT in 2010, and won world titles in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019, and 2021, with dozens of event wins along the way. She was the first-ever winner of the Olympic Gold Medal in women's shortboard surfing. More recently, Moore has announced that she will be walking away from competition to devote time to family, making films, and investing energy into her charitable foundation, Moore Aloha. In this episode of Soundings, Moore talks with Jamie Brisick about her decision to step away from the tour, representing Hawaii, friendship, finding community, her proudest moments, the values (and dangers) of mimicry, and overcoming self-doubt.
My guest today is Anne (or Annie) Carpenter. Anne is a singer, photographer and I would add a beautiful writer, plus a new kindred spirit! I've heard Anne sing and was moved deeply. Although she grew up in a family of singers, was immersed in a choral mindset from middle school through college, I was surprised to learn that it's only been about ten years since Annie stepped into singing professionally. Her honesty about the career choices that didn't line up, her gratitude for all the people who lifted her up and encouraged her to trust both herself and her voice more fully, comes through in our conversation. It's an honor to shine light on this humble, gracious, woman of wonder, curiosity and compassion. Check out the show notes for a link to Anne's beautiful website, IG and FB accounts to see where she is performing next. I've also included a link for a Living Music Event at the Westchester Collaborative Theater in Ossining, NY this month, fusing theater and music, where Anne will be the featured vocal artist. Even though we didn't discuss that in our conversation, I'd love to help promote this unique event. We just got our tickets for opening night on May 10th and hope to see you there! Enjoy the podcast! Our guest this week is a one bad shredder from San Clemente. This smooth operator has had fair share of Magazine coverage and solid contest results throughout his career including a 2X Winner at the Cold Water Classic in Santa Cruz. He qualified for the WCT in 2010 and had a Documentary produced by O'neill called “InNate”. He has been a Sale Rep for quite some time now for Lost Surfboards, Buell, and Octopus Accessories. He is still competing and by judging all stickers on his Board Salty Crew, Dragon Optics, Future Fins, Sister Betsy Surf Wax, and Banzai Bowls, we think he is continuing to make some cash from Sponsors! Charger, style-master, Olympian and current European Number One... could there be a better start to our fourth season? On the morning of the final (Boardmasters), Tom and Millie Phillips sat down with the defending event champ, Portugal's rising star Yolanda Hopkins. Yolanda has been a popular figure on the QS in recent years, as well as qualifying for the Toyko Olympics in style. She has already more than made a mark against the biggest in the game - including beating Carissa Moore earlier this year as a WCT wildcard in Peniche. And did you know her mother was from Bridgend? Of course you did! This episode also includes an update on the Welsh and British surfers' QS situations at the end of the first four events of the European calendar.Produced by James DoddArtwork by GS Design CoMusic Copyright James Dodd 2023
The revival of tiger populations across India is one of India's most successful conservation stories. India has more than doubled her tiger population between 2006 and 2018. According to the preliminary results of the 2022 national census, India has approximately 3,100 tigers. On Episode 2, I interview Anish Andheria, who is the CEO of the Wildlife Conservation Trust. We discuss current challenges of tiger conservation in India, ranging from human tiger conflict to the issue of roadkills. We also discuss the success of Project Tiger and the future of tiger conservation in India. Lastly, we discuss about one of WCT's most prominent projects - the wildlife underpass along a stretch of NH44 between Kanha and Pench tiger reserve. With over 200 million people living in and around India's protected areas, it is crucial to engage local communities in conservation. We at Think Wildlife Foundation are fostering human wildlife coexistence by facilitating alternative livelihood projects around India. No episódio 201, Julio Adler, Bruno Bocayuva e João Valente questionam tudo -e o contrário! In Serving Aces, episode 6, Alexandra Stevenson and Hugues Laverdiere introduce their first guest, journalist Joel Drucker. Drucker has been writing about sports, pop culture, and business for 35 years. He was named Historian at Large by the Tennis Hall Of Fame because of his knowledge and passion for the game of tennis. Stevenson leads the discussion into three parts from the iconic 70s... Part One, Christ Evert and Martina Navratilova and their 80 match rivalry from 1972 to 1988. Part Two, the founding of the ATP and the crossover of Lamar Hunt's WCT, the handsome eight - and more men's tennis including the grand Cliff Drysdale. Part three, Rock and Roll tennis with Jimmy Connors, the first rock tennis star in the 1970s. Connors brought a boxer's mentality to his "Friday Night at the Fights" matches. Drucker wrote a book, "Jimmy Connors Saved My Life: A Personal Biography." Drucker talks about why Connors was so important to him as a 12 year old in the 70s - and later in his reporter life. Stevenson continues her weekly fantasy coaches and players picks. Laverdiere and Drucker join in with their male and female picks and the coaches who will help them in the clay season. Stevenson is a storyteller. Though she was a 1980s baby - she has memories and meetings with many of the 1970s legends. Guest Drucker and co-host Laverdiere join in with their own memories. Quote of the Podcast: "I never lost a tennis match. I just ran out of time." Jimmy Connors.
In the fourth episode of Season 11 of the Propcast, host Louisa Dickins is joined by Antonia Soler, Director of Hilti Technology Office at Hilti and Vivin Hegde, GB and Founding Partner at Zacua Ventures, an early stage global VC specialised in investing in the Built Environment sector. Episode Highlights: How Antonia and Vivin both met whilst working at Hilti The Women in Construction Tech Group that Antonia has co-founded The events and chapters WCT are running How Zacua Ventures started and where the idea came from Vivin's advice to founders looking to scale towards an exit The evolution Vivin believes early startups need to go through in order to be successful The challenges around digitising construction and how Antonia suggests these are addressed The importance of understanding what it's actually like to work in construction when trying to build a solution Where Antonia and Vivin expect to see investment being made in 2023 The difference in investments between early stage and late stage The reasons why interest in Series B is quieter in terms of investment How construction technologies are helping with sustainability The technologies being developed to address prefabrication and modular construction Resources: LMRE Global Recruitment and Search Consultancy LMRE YouTube Interviews PropTech Salary Report, LMRE 2022 WCT McKinsey Fieldwire Dusty Robotics Built World Trimble Ecoworks Carbon Title Urban Machine Kit Switch Shout outs: Gregg Wallace Mauricio Tessi Weiss Juan Nieto Julieta Moradei Key Takeaways: And this is where the seeds of Zacua Ventures were sewn, right? We had built a network, we'd seen how hard corporate innovation is for a lot of corporates, and we are also invested in funds. - Vivin So a startup needs to be mindful of the exit options that they have. They shouldn't be driven by the exit itself. - Vivin I find that founders that spend a lot of time with customers in the field and in the office come up with the best solutions. Because they are observing workflows, testing solutions on the job site and otherwise learning how their solution can best serve their customers. - Antonia So women in construction tech, it's dedicated to creating opportunities and developing relationships for women driving innovation in the construction industry. We envision a construction industry where women are well networked, support each other, efforts to improve and advance in the space and otherwise. - Antonia We did a survey of 80 contact focused VCs and corporate VCs a couple of weeks back. Just a little bit of the industry, I would say, and it's positive. We do see more investment happening in this space. Pretty much 70% of the VCs we spoke to said they're going to increase their investment rather than decrease in this space. - Vivin I think everybody has a good view of how the market could look in the next 6, 12, 18 months. Even if it's not rosy, it's still more predictable than it was five months back. And therefore the deal flow should pick up slowly and the deal making should also pick up accordingly. - Vivin About Our Host Louisa Dickins Louisa is the co-founder of LMRE, which has rapidly become the market leading global PropTech recruitment platform and search consultancy with operations across North America, United Kingdom, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Travis Statham is an original World Carnivore Tribe moderator and an independent researcher turned masters student who just moved to Logan, Utah with his wife and two cats to study and conduct nutrition research. His dream would be to test the carnivore diet in a clinical trial setting, and test independent variables like grass-fed:grain-fed, organs:no organs, fat:protein ratios, as well as Carnivore:Almost carnivore as well as testing the efficacy of various subtypes on different chronic diseases that still have no etiology. He worked with Dr Shawn Baker to provide feedback to the researchers that conducted the Harvard Carnivore Survey Study, which received results from 2029 adults living the carnivorous way of eating for an average of 14 months! Travis used his experience on Reddit, Facebook, and Twitter, to help him collect links to science across a swath of disciplines related to the broad topic of human facultative carnivory into a public Zotero library called KetoscienceDatabase - over 10,000 articles relating to paleoanthropology, evolution, primatology, etc. When a NYPost reporter joined WCT as the carnivore diet was picking up steam, Travis was able to schedule an interview with her and get a free Fogo de Chao meal, and the next day he and his wife appeared on Good Morning America! He also attended the 4-day special event that was CarnivoryCon 2019 and Low Carb Denver 2019, and even went to Low Carb Denver 2020 just before flights closed in the beginning of the pandemic. After working with Michael Goldstein on justmeat.co, he decided to use a Wix website to stuff as much content as he could about the carnivore diet into one place. Nowadays, in Utah, Travis is helping Stephan van Vliet PhD with research in which they try to figure out the interplay between different agricultural systems as 500+ different metabolites can be recorded using advanced metabolomics machines by collecting and preparing samples such as soil, grass, animal feed and then seeing how they get transferred into various meat products such as grass-fed ribeyes, conventional grain-fed liver, wild caught deer. If you have a farm and want to contribute to this product - get in touch with Travis. The next step is looking into how eating these foods affect humans over the short and long term. The JournalFeed podcast for the week of March 14-18, 2022. Chest Tube Cutoffs Spoon Feed: Implementation of a guideline for chest tube placement with pneumothorax size cutoff of ≤35 mm in stable patients increased rates of observation for pneumothorax, with no apparent increase in rates of complication or observation failure. Pediatric Intubations Spoon Feed: There was no difference in first pass success rate or hypoxemic events when children were intubated with videolaryngoscopy (VL) versus direct laryngoscopy (DL). Intubations in children that took longer than 45 seconds had a greater incidence of hypoxemia, and overall, there was very low utilization of apneic oxygenation during laryngoscopy. Pre-intubation Atropine Spoon Feed: Atropine pretreatment was not associated with a reduction in the incidence of bradycardia in this tiny, single center study of pediatric intubations. hs-Troponin algorithms Spoon Feed: Accelerated diagnostic protocols using delta high-sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) assays had high diagnostic accuracy. WCT gone wrong Spoon Feed: When treating this wide complex tachycardia (WCT) with synchronized cardioversion, the machine interpreted the T wave as the R wave. Nothing good comes of that!

We've had Amy on before during one of our 5in5 episodes but this time we spend more time talking about WCT experiences, the good and bad and good again! Amy is a WCT legend and super encouraging. We had a blast hanging out with Amy and talking about the WCT community. Make sure to follow Amy on Twitter: @JustAmyZing --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/boozebantsbots/message
In this episode, we interview Eric Schumaker, the biggest of the smallest WCT accounts, in the most unprofessional manner. Eric Schumaker is an author, songwriter, pastor, podcaster, and professional tweeter. He discusses his brand new Novella "My Last Name" with the 3 of us; yet only 1 of us has managed to take the time to read his book. We also spend a little bit of time talking about his book "Worthy" co-authored with Elyse Fitzpatrick and we make sure he knows that Elyse has way more Twitter followers than he does. Halfway through the episode, Amy has a complete meltdown over her poor internet connection while Andrew mansplains to her how to close an internet browser. Eric is stupefied by the thought that people actually listen to Weird Christian Twitter - The Podcast. Follow Eric on Twitter: @ElyseFitz Seriously, go to https://www.emschumacher.com/ and find out where you can purchase Eric's new novella, "My Last Name." It is the very last day of our week of encouragement where we release a special "5 in 5" episode per day! In this episode, we introduce you to the Holy and Reverent, Old Testament Scholar and Profesor Dr. Daniel Bunn. Though Finchface insists to call him both Dan and Dr. @danielbunnjr would prefer you just call him Daniel. I mean, would you just look at that humility, folks! When Daniel isn't dropping that Old Testament knowledge on the Twitter feed he's cracking them jokes, so you should make sure to give him a follow: @danielbunnjr Our "5 in 5" series is where one of our hosts spends 5 minutes asking various #WCT peeps 5 questions in 5 minutes as a means of making deeper meaningful connections. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/boozebantsbots/message
