The New York Mets and Atlanta Braves played a doubleheader on Monday to determine who would get the final two Wild Card spots in the National League, while the Arizona Diamondbacks had to sit and hope for a sweep. Unfortunately after an epic game one and bland game two, the reigning NL champs were left without a seat in the playoff dance.Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman discuss the crazy back-and-forth first game of the doubleheader that saw the Mets make multiple comebacks, including a 9th inning go-ahead home run by Francisco Lindor. The Braves, needing a win in the later game to get into the playoffs, did just that thanks to some clutch hitting and solidified their spot in the National League postseason picture. Also on this episode of the Baseball Bar-B-Cast, the guys preview the NL Wild Card matchups, which will see the Milwaukee Brewers taking on the Mets just days after facing them this past weekend. Meanwhile the Braves will head out to the west coast to take on the San Diego Padres, who find themselves in a much more desirable position after the news that Atlanta will be without Cy Young favorite Chris Sale.Jake and Jordan also talk about the San Francisco Giants promoting Buster Posey to President of Baseball Operations, Chaim Bloom's new position with the St. Louis Cardinals after 2025 and the passing of Pete Rose.(1:00) - Mets-Braves doubleheader recap(23:33) - New Presidents of Baseball Ops in SF and STL(27:41) - Pete Rose passes away(33:27) - Brewers-Mets NL Wild Card preview(50:01) - Padres-Braves NL Wild Card previewSubscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

Hour 1: The Mets lost in Atlanta last night and only mustered 4 hits. Now the hurricane is coming so who knows if they are going to get the next 2 games in. MLB had no foresight with this. They should have played these games earlier in the week or earlier today. And how are the Mets flying out of Atlanta to get to Milwaukee in the middle of a hurricane? The Yankees lost a game they shouldn't have lost thanks to a boneheaded baserunning error by Gleyber Torres. Jerry is here for his first update of the day, but first we talked about the hurricane hitting Atlanta. Jerry has audio of the play that started the disaster for the Mets as Luis Severino made a wild throw to first. The Padres clinched a playoff spot with a game-ending triple play. John Sterling was back last night on the call for the Yankees. Jerry Jones was on the FAN in Dallas and was asked about talking about the size of a player's penis. Boomer said ‘the heat is on' in Dallas if they lose to the Giants tomorrow night. In the final segment of the hour, Brett Favre disclosed that he has Parkinson's at a congressional hearing. Seemed like convenient timing. Hour 2: The Pirates DFA'd Rowdy Tellez because if he had 4 more plate appearances, they would owe him $200K. This is the type of organization the Pirates are. This happened to Boomer with the Cardinals. If he started one more game he would get a bonus. Then they wanted him to go into a game later in the season, but not start it. A caller has had it with Gleyber Torres' boneheaded baserunning mistakes. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Mets dropping game one in Atlanta. Luis Severino threw wild to fist on a ball he should have just kept, and that opened the floodgates. Chris Sale will pitch game 2, which will probably be rained out tonight. Jerry has the sound of Gleyber Torres making a terrible mistake on the basepaths. A sports guy on the news in Oakland went off on the A's ownership and Jerry has it. Aaron Rodgers was on with Pat McAfee and said it's fun being on the Jets right now. He also took a shot at Haason Reddick's agent. Malik Nabers said he can make even better catches than last week. In the final segment of the hour, Gio was Googling Lauren Sanchez and found out she has a child with Tony Gonzalez. Netflix tried to get Tom Brady for the Christmas game but Fox said ‘no'. Gio thinks Phil Simms needs to get in on that. Hour 3: Phil Simms joins us in his weekly spot. He's doing radio tomorrow night with Ian Eagle for the Cowboys/Giants game. We want Phil to do the NFL game on Netflix on Christmas. Phil broke down the Cowboys and said they have the worst set of running backs in the NFL but they have great pass protection. He expects Dak to throw it a lot. Regarding the Jets, Denver also doesn't run the ball well so Bo Nix will have to throw it a lot. Simms said Aaron Rodgers is one of the best game managers of all time. We also talked about Caleb Williams' start in the NFL and what's going on with Trevor Lawrence. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of the Mets losing in Atlanta. Evan Roberts took to the Rico Brogna podcast and talked about the pathetic at bats the Mets had. Frank The Tank also went off on the Mets. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about Aaron Rodgers' comments on Haason Reddick's agent. Boomer hopes he's working out to be ready if he comes back to the Jets. This week is the Jets last 1pm game until December 1st. Hour 4: Were there more missed tackles in the NFL or more dildos found at Diddy's house? First pitch for tonight's Mets/Braves game is 7:20 and it is likely going to be pouring. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with Carlos Mendoza after the Mets dropped game one in Atlanta. Hour 1 Jayden Daniels put on a show last night as the Commanders sent the Bengals to an 0-3 start. This is why Brian Daboll wanted Daniels. This is bad news for the Giants if Daniels is going to play this well going forward. And the Jets got to watch Josh Allen put up 47 points for the Bills as they sent the Jaguars to 0-3. Daniels had a 91% completion percentage rate last night. Jerry is here for his first update of the day but first we wonder what yarn festival Eddie is at this week. Jerry has the sounds of Kevin Harlan as the Commanders beat the Bengals, 38-33. Jerry also has the sounds of the Bills beating the Jags, 47-10. We got a positive Sam Darnold update. They are talking about a double header Wednesday instead of playing Thursday. Keith loves Carlos Mendoza as the Mets manager. Jerry returns for an update, but first we have a big Live Show announcement. Jerry starts with the Commanders beating the Bengals thanks to a huge night by QB Jayden Daniels. The Bills had no problem with the Jags, rolling up 47 points. Antonio Pierce was asked if he made any ‘business decisions' on some of his players. Brian Daboll was asked about motivation for Thursday night's game against the Cowboys. Jerry has audio of a few people asking what is up with Travis Kelce including Mike Francesa andTodd McShay. Hour 3 Single Topics Segment 1- Keith Hernandez calls from Atlanta to preview the huge Mets/Braves series starting tonight Segment 3- ‘Where is Eddie Scozzare?' Hour 4 The Mets have a huge series starting tonight against the Braves and the weather looks like it won't be cooperating after tonight. We talked about quarterbacks making all of the money and how that hurts your ability to have a quality defense because all the money goes to the QB. This is the situation the Bengals are in with Joe Burrow. Boomer said we have another week before we are out of ‘pre-season' in the NFL.
