Season 8 heads into early-2000s chaos as Dangerous Dave revisits the cult comedy Old School, a film that perfectly captured the outrageous, quote-heavy comedy era of the early 2000s. With its mix of wild fraternity antics and strangely heartfelt moments about growing older, the movie became one of the defining comedies of its generation. We rewind to 2003 in What Happened Way Back When, exploring the cultural backdrop surrounding the film — from indie music breakthroughs and overlooked movies to television shows that helped shape the early-internet entertainment era. Retro Headlines from both the UK and the US reveal how technology, reality TV, gaming, and DVD culture were rapidly changing how people consumed entertainment. In the Dangerous Deep Dive, Dave explores the full story behind Old School — from its development and director Todd Phillips' vision to the unforgettable performances of Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Will Ferrell as the legendary Frank “The Tank.” The episode includes a detailed plot breakdown, the creation of the film's most iconic moments, and why audiences embraced its rebellious, party-fueled humour. Dave also looks at how the movie helped kick-start the “Frat Pack” comedy era and why fans still quote it two decades later.Elsewhere in the episode:

Hello my friends and welcome to another edition of my vinyl show. This installment revolves around my Frank Sinatra 45 collection. Some of my favorite old pieces and live performances. Sure, some of them sound terrible but get over it. I really enjoy them and it's what I wanted to do ova hea now for this episode. It did run a little short this week but I didn't want to play every Sinatra record or dig too deep into the Tony Bennett bag. Once I get to a certain spot in the Bennett bag you know Dean Martin and Jerry Vale's greatest hits will enter the chat and by that point it's all over. The Close To You mashup I expanded this episode to contain the Sinatra, Stevie Wonder talkbox live, Frank Ocean on vinyl and one of Ocean's live performances of the song from a few years back. As much as I like Burt Bacharach, the original version of the song is absolute garbage and will never see the light of day in my mashup. Sorry, Burt. The poor unassuming people have no idea that I'm publishing this podcast, putting on a sick hoochie daddy fit and I plan on kicking the door down at this card show. Taking the place by storm. No prisoners no mercy. Today I happily expand my Pokemon portfolio as a 33 year old man with no friends and absolutely no hint of a love life. Getting ready for this card show all I hear in my head is Russell Crowe. "Three weeks from now, I will be harvesting my crops. Imagine where you will be, and it will be so. Hold the line. Stay with me. If you find yourself alone, riding in green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled. For you are in Elysium and you are already dead. Brothers.. What we do in life.. Echoes in eternity." Maybe I'll be a super sick internet disc jockey forever in Elysium's comparative platforms to the interwebs. Maybe I'll forever be a super sick bro that totally crushes the local card scene of the Everafter. Not selling, but I am bringing some old stuff from my childhood to show the Brodie that works at the store. Just showing up to gloat my KD, Harden and Steph rookies. Some Jordan inserts. Whatever. I couldn't be more fired up about it. Hope you enjoyed the Frank The Tank installment, your favorite internet disc jockey will be here next timeThe Captain Kirk of this Enterprise,Throbert Duvall

Hour 1 The Giants lost again last night, as they are now 2-19 in their last 21 prime time games. When do you go to Jaxson Dart? The Chargers come to town next week and then they go to New Orleans. You can't throw him to the wolves against the Chargers. The Giants kicker was hurt again before the game even started. The Giants had first and goal and couldn't score and had the worst plays called. They never got Malik Nabers involved in that game. The Jets and Giants need to stop the bleeding by bringing in an established head coach. C-Lo is in for Jerry and is here for his first update and starts with the sounds of the Giants not scoring with first and goal. Brian Daboll said he would be booing too after last night. Andy Reid commented on the fans booing the Giants. Aaron Glenn said this is not the same old Jets, and he hates that term. He said the team is fighters. The Mets lost their series against the Nationals, including yesterday when Alvarez was robbed of a HR in the ninth. In the final segment of the hour, golfer Patrick Cantlay put his hand behind his back in an effort to not high five fans, including children. How do we feel about that? Hour 2 Yesterday, both the Jets and Mets lost. The Jets fell to 0-3 while the Mets dropped out of playoff contention. Boomer noted the Jets are rebuilding, unlike the Mets who spent heavily. Gio believes the Mets are "consistently inconsistent" and don't deserve the playoffs. Aaron Glenn claimed this isn't the "same old Jets," despite their loss. C-Lo's update included Patrick Mahomes recovering his fumble and Russell Wilson struggling. Daboll faced questions about a QB change. The Jets' blocked FG return initially gave them hope. Aaron Glenn emphasized they're not an "instant coffee team." The Yankees won in extra innings with a Ben Rice grand slam, while the Mets lost to the Nationals. Gio advocated for Jaxson Dart as the next QB for the Giants, while Boomer felt the Falcons and Rams had crushing losses. Issues with the "tush-push" continued. Hour 3 Daniel Jones is having a great season so far with the Colts. Sometimes it happens for guys in places where it would never happen in the place they originally were. A caller doesn't want Sauce Gardener to have the ‘Sauce' nickname anymore. We went over Daniel Jones' stats so far, which are very impressive. We took a bunch of calls from frustrated Giants fans. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with Cris Collinsworth saying there's excitement in the Giants building about Jaxson Dart. Mike Francesa didn't like seeing Aaron Glenn dancing after the blocked FG the Jets returned for a TD. Francesa continued screaming about Glenn and the ‘same old Jets'. In the final segment of the hour, today is Al's birthday but CBS did not send food like they normally do. They didn't realize. Hour 4 The Giants are going to have to play Jaxson Dart because the fans are sick of saying the same thing year after year. Gio doesn't want him starting this week at home against the Chargers. He wants him starting the following week in New Orleans. Boomer's worried he won't be able to protect himself out there. Boomer also said he has some Baker Mayfield in him. C-Lo returns for an update and we hear Russell Wilson's second interception of the game. Aaron Glenn wants you to know they're not the ‘same old Jets'. He hates that term and doesn't know what it means. Frank The Tank went off on the Mets again as they lost to the Nationals. Evan Roberts is getting aroused about playoff scenarios. The Yankees beat the Orioles in extras as Ben Rice hit a grand slam in the tenth. The Moment of The Day: Mike Francesa doesn't want Aaron Glenn dancing. Hour 1 With Gio out, Boomer & Jerry discussed the Mets' one-hit loss and sweep by the Guardians, which Boomer found unbelievable given their $400 million roster. Jerry criticized Soto's effort. C-Lo updated on the Yankees' win and the Mets' loss. Al also brought up a story already covered yesterday. Hour 2 The hour began with a call discussing Juan Soto's perceived complacency. Attention then shifted to the Jets and Giants; the Giants have stability with Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen, while the Jets face "growing pains" with a new coach and GM. The importance of preseason play for quarterbacks was debated. A caller predicted the Jets would make the playoffs. C-Lo's update followed Boomer's anecdote about seeing "mutants" outside a Broadway show. C-Lo reported the Yankees avoided a sweep, David Bednar's 5-out save, Paul Goldschmidt's pinch-hit game-winning HR, and Juan Soto's ninth-inning homer, the Mets' only hit. Jane Slater and Jerry Jones discussed Micah Parsons. The final segment covered Eddie's retirement, with Al jokingly pretending to be retired and bored, and Boomer noting frequent inquiries about his own retirement. Hour 3 Discussion points included Aaron Judge's elbow, Giancarlo Stanton's return, and retired callers unsure how to spend their time. Former Yankee Roy White advised on playing left field. C-Lo covered the Mets' near no-hitter and sweep, and Frank The Tank's Mets predictions. George Kittle discussed his job security. The hour concluded with Boomer discerning real headlines from Jerry's creations. Hour 4 Boomer and Gio are headed to Pebble Beach for golf and hiking. The NFL preseason begins, and Boomer speculates on CBS's Week 1 announcing teams. C-Lo's final update covers the Mets nearly being no-hit (saved by Soto's homer), the Arizona Rattlers' arena football loss and post-game coach rant, and Donald Trump's mispronunciation of Tua Tagovailoa. Jerry Jones was again questioned about Micah Parsons by Jane Slater. Mike Vrabel was injured breaking up a fight at Patriots camp. The Moment of The Day features Boomer encountering "mutants" in Times Square, and a caller complains about Lindor's "My Girl" walk-up music given his strikeouts. The segment ends with a look ahead to the Mets and Yankees' standings next week.

Hour 1 This weekend, both the Mets and Yankees were swept, while the Phillies extended their winning streak, and in a significant move, the Red Sox traded Rafael Devers to San Francisco after he homered in his final game with Boston; Aaron Judge notably struggled, going 1-for-12 with 9 strikeouts. In golf, JJ Spaun won the US Open, while Gio noted that something seems to be amiss with Rory, which warrants monitoring as he heads to Bethpage Black; meanwhile, the Knicks are still seeking a head coach, and Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat stated he doesn't believe anything in history prior to 1950. Hour 2 Both the Mets and Yankees were swept this weekend, with the Mets now heading to Atlanta and a caller demanding Aaron Boone's firing due to the Yankees' fundamental errors, including baserunning mistakes by Dominguez and Rice. This came after Rafael Devers, who homered in his final game for Boston, was traded from the Red Sox to San Francisco. Meanwhile, Mike Francesa's prediction of a Mets losing streak came true, and despite Pete Alonso's strong offense, his throwing issues to first base persist. In golf, JJ Spaun won the US Open on Father's Day, and on the Knicks front, they are interviewing Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins for the head coach position, while Dan Plesac of MLB Network was reportedly scammed by an "unpaid tolls" text message. Hour 3 The Knicks are interviewing Mike Brown and Taylor Jenkins for their head coaching vacancy, with one caller criticizing Leon Rose for the team's current state and another suggesting Jay Wright, though he's not a candidate. A caller also proposed Allan Houston or John Starks as potential Knicks coaches. In other sports news, Rafael Devers homered to beat the Yankees before being traded, the Mets were swept at home by the Rays, and JJ Spaun won the US Open.
