Today's guest is no stranger to A Life and a Living Podcast. We've heard from him before and I'm thrilled to have him back to continue learning his business strategies. Miha Matlievski has an amazing story, coming from a series of failures and working hard to keep going. What I like most about Miha is his great sense of simplicity. He makes it all sound easy, although he never underestimates the amount of work involved in being a successful entrepreneur. In this episode, we discuss Miha's focus on building systems for profitability, the key pillars to have in place to align a scalable business, and what he means by the “soft skills.” According to Miha, those soft skills are what can change things drastically for a business. Founder of Fail Coach, Miha uses his failures and comebacks to help others in their journey to scale their business and in their entrepreneurial endeavors. What We Talked About in This Episode: What it Means to Miha to be “The Fail Coach” Miha's Focus on 6 and 7 Figure Entrepreneurs Systems in Place to Become a 4 Hour CEO Benefits of Systems on Profitability Key Pillars to Have in Place to Align a Business to Scale Foundational Pieces, Values, and Soft Skills That Make Growth Easier Preparing an Exit Strategy and Implementing Properly Common Big Mistakes Made by Entrepreneurs Pivoting and Adopting Change When Needed Routines That Prepare You For Whatever Comes Your Way Learning and Growing As an Entrepreneur: It is Always Possible to Learn Business is Not Complex Going One Step Deeper to Grow From Each Lesson Mindfulness to Boost Energy “Miha in Your Pocket” Miha's Book Recommendation and Daily Routines About Our Guest: One business coach has forged his approach to helping entrepreneurs and business executives by using a monumental personal failure and eventual redemption to help get others where they need to go to find their personal success and fulfillment. As he himself experienced, dealing with the psychological and emotional aspects of success and failure is crucial, according to Miha. While he admits that entrepreneurs want growth, scalability, more sales, etc. he says what they really need is the right mindset, a healthy relationship with failure, emotional intelligence (“EQ”), mindfulness and other “soft skills.” Fail Coach Miha Matlievski has been featured in numerous publications, both online and in print, and is full of stories about his own personal background, his approach to working with clients and what they have achieved with his help. Offering a more holistic approach to business coaching than what is typically available to entrepreneurs and business executives across the globe, the story of The Fail Coach will no doubt appeal to many. In the episode No40, we spoke to Miha Matlievski, a serial entrepreneur and business coach from Slovenia. He shared with us how he managed to go from zero to million and back. What challenges stand behind his successful career as a business coach with the unique name of his company, Fail Coach. We discussed how previous experience with the economic crisis can help us overcome the crisis that Covid-19 brought to us. He shared with us what it means to be a good leader, how we can use emotional intelligence in making decisions and planning our growth for the future. Most important advice he shared with us is, how and when it is important to use emotions and put logic aside and rethink our entrepreneurial journey, and how important good foundations for the company are, if we want to grow and develop our companies and what knowledge is crucial on that journey. Have you ever failed at something so badly that you were $5 million in personal debt, lost your spouse, your friends, everything? Miha hit rock bottom but fortunately, his story doesn't end there. He's transformed his life and now helps moms start their own businesses. In this week's episode, Miha shares his incredible journey from failure to success and the foundations for a sustainable and profitable business.
Why are people so often afraid of failure? Like one mistake could determine the whole life. But if you really think about it, many great things wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for failures. Failing helps us to determine whether an idea is good or not. When we fail fast, we simultaneously minimize the losses and are ready to quickly try something else, if the current strategy is not working. On this Better Monday® podcast episode Milla Heikkilä and Miha Matlievski talk about failing. Miha is a fail coach and his job is to help other entrepreneurs and organizations succeed with the tools and experience he has learned from his own failures.
In 2009, Miha Matlievski had four companies go bankrupt overnight. Consequently, he was $5 million in debt. Contemplating suicide to escape the pain as he looked over the balcony, he had a life-saving AH-HA moment. In this moment, Miha realized that failure was a normal part of life. Also, he admitted to himself that he failed. In addition, he recognized he needed to stop blaming others and circumstances. Ultimately, this was the turning point. He made a choice to learn from his failures so he could do things differently in the future. Also, he wanted to help others. Since then, Miha has climbed back to create a business and scaled it to 8 figures in less than a year. Finally, his life mission is to help people develop a healthy relationship with failure. Especially entrepreneurs. Episode Highlights: First Miha explains what happened to his businesses in 2009. He unexpectedly lost 4 companies. Also, he was $5M in debt and his marriage ended in divorce. He received threatening phone calls. Miha thought about how to solve his problems. Then he slipped into depression. In early spring of 2010, Miha contemplated suicide. Then his ah-ha moment came. Next Miha explains his thoughts about failure. Establishing a healthy relationship with failure is important to success. Furthermore, Miha wants us to break the taboo that failure is bad. The more you embrace failure the faster you'll achieve success. How does Miha recommend someone start changing their mindset around failure? Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. Meditation and reflection is important too. Miha and Emily talk about the importance of reflection and journaling. Then Miha explains we must take the next step after journaling. The crucial step is to make an action plan. Set a goal - establish a process aligned to achieving that goal. Also, look online for help or invest in a coach. You must know yourself and the emotional WHY behind what you're trying to accomplish. An emotion more painful than the pain of not doing it. Find a positive emotional connection - the stronger the better. Failures Anonymous and his work with Animal Rescue are Miha’s two whys. Next Emily gives an example of what some people might think is a failure but she thinks it's a pivot. She asks what Miha thinks about it. Miha shares his thoughts on Emily's example. Bragging about success is easy: opening up about your failures — and learning from them — takes hard work. Even self-described “Fail Coach” Miha Matlievski admits it took him years. In 2009, the recession put Miha $5 million in debt. Bankrupt and hounded by creditors, he contemplated suicide — until he realized he had failed, which meant he could also change.Miha was used to fighting from behind. After dropping out of high school, he joined his dad’s business but suddenly found himself in charge when his dad died unexpectedly.“I had no clue what I was doing,” Miha admits, “but somehow I managed, and started creating new companies.” By 2009, he had multiple successful businesses. But Miha was still naive about things like personal liability and asset protection. When the recession hit Europe in 2009, Miha lost everything in a single day, including his personal assets. “I went from a $15 million personal net worth to $5 million in debt,” he says. Suddenly Miha was receiving daily phone calls from increasingly threatening creditors.Depressed and anxious, he contemplated suicide. One day, he almost went through with it. In that moment, Miha realized that he’d been blaming everyone else for his failure when he had to take responsibility too.And if he was responsible — not some external force — then he could change whatever had gone wrong.Miha made a list of everything he needed to improve. He called his creditors and worked out plans to pay them back. He started working with a friend. Slowly but surely, Miha climbed out of the hole. Three and a half years later, he sold his business to a Fortune 100 company. That experience has made Miha appreciate the power of failure, and also the ways people resist talking about it. Now, he helps others accept failure and look for lessons they can use.“I feel like a bigger billionaire than Jeff Bezos in my heart because I can share the story and help others. I wouldn't change a single thing because then I wouldn't have the experience, I wouldn't be who I am and do what I do.” Featured Entrepreneur

In 2009, Miha Matlievski had his four companies go bankrupt overnight: landing him $5 million in debt. Contemplating suicide to escape the pain as he looked over the balcony, he had a life-saving AH-HA moment. He realized that failure was a normal part of life. When he admitted to himself that he failed, and recognized he needed to stop blaming others and blaming circumstances, that was the turning point. It was then that he made a choice to learn from his failures. Once he changed his focus, he realized he could do things differently in the future to help others. Since then, he has fully recovered and was able to create a business that he scaled to 8 figures in less than a year. His life's mission is to help people develop a healthy relationship with failure. Especially entrepreneurs.

"One business coach has forged his approach to helping entrepreneurs and business executives by using a monumental personal failure and eventual redemption to help get others where they need to go to find their personal success and fulfillment."
Today's guest joining us on the Join Up Dots podcast, is Miha Matlievski, an entrepreneur who has had their fair share of knocks and set backs. In 2009, Miha had four companies go bankrupt overnight: landing him $5 million in debt. Contemplating suicide to escape the pain as he looked over the balcony, he had a life-saving AH-HA moment. He realized that failure was a normal part of life: admitting to himself that he failed and to recognize he needed to stop blaming others and circumstances. It wasn't just thinking "Why am i such a failure ?" it was one of his big dots This was the turning point when he made a choice to learn from his failures so he could do things differently in the future and to help others. Since then, he has climbed back to create a business and scaling it to 8 figures in less than a year. His life mission is to help people develop a healthy relationship with failure. Especially entrepreneurs. How The Dots Joined For Miha But to really get a flavour of the man you have to go back to when he was just 18 years old. At just 18 years old, Miha Matlievski, a Slovenian high school dropout, dreaming of becoming a successful entrepreneur. And he pursued it with a passion, putting in 12 years of hard work the result - those four successful businesses and a personal net worth of $15M. Are you willing to put in the hard work to make things happen for you in the same way? Are you willing to persevere when things don't go the way you want them to go? Well let's start joining up dots with the only and only Miha Matlievski Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty subjects with Miha Matlievski such as: Miha shared how he was always the positive true entrepreneur and lost the light in his life during . Miha shares his belief that we can all create an amazing life for themselves by truly finding the most powerful "Why" they can have. Why there will never be a position when you have all pluses you want in life no matter how hard you try. and lastly........ Miha shares how the online opportunities are abundant compared to the issues of having a brick and mortar business.
What an incredible story my next guest has! I am joined by Miha Matlievski today, who talks about his business failure and how he rose from the ashes, even after losing absolutely everything in a very short space of time. We also discuss mindset and emotional intelligence, and how you absolutely must have these both in check, if you are to succeed as an entrepreneur. [01:45] A quick history of Miha…. He built up 4 successful businesses and a personal net worth of over $15million. However, this all came crashing down in 2009 after a phone call from his bank. He very suddenly found himself with no businesses and debt of $5 million. However, despite such a huge blow and even thinking of suicide for a while, he kept on fighting, built up a new successful company and is now known as “The Fail Coach”. [08:39] Miha realised that a big reason he lost everything so suddenly was because his businesses had no foundations, so when the crisis came, he had nothing to fall back on. [11:30] Miha discusses how he bounced back from learning how to be present. Mindfulness and emotional intelligence played such a huge role in his resurrection. [16:22] It's only when you take full responsibility for your failings that you will begin to succeed and remember….nothing magical ever happens inside the comfort zone! [23:22] We discuss the importance of emotional intelligence as an entrepreneurial business owner and why most entrepreneurs make it harder for themselves by not asking for help, when it's usually right in front of us. [27:57] What advice would Miha give to someone just starting out or looking to scale their existing business? Hint… be very careful of these so called “gurus”… [37.18] If Miha could go back in time to give his younger self some advice, what would it be? To find out more about Miha visit his LinkedIn profile or go to his website. Subscribe & Review Are you subscribed to my podcast yet? If you're not, please do so to avoid missing out on any episodes! In 2009, Miha had 4 companies go bankrupt overnight: landing him $5 million in debt. Contemplating suicide to escape the pain as he looked over the balcony, he had a life saving AH-HA moment. He realized that failure was a normal part of life: admitting to himself that he failed and to recognize he needed to stop blaming others and circumstances. This was the turning point when he made a choice to learn from his failures so he could do things differently in the future and to help others. Since then, he has climbed back to create a business and scaling it to 8 figures in less then a year. His life mission is to help people develop healthy relationship with failure. Especially entrepreneurs.
