In this episode, Natasha Wilch, a licensed physical therapist from Nanaimo, British Columbia, discusses her experience working with concussion and brain injury patients. She has a clinic called Symphony Brain Performance and also has a company that trains medical professionals across the world on how to treat concussions. Natasha's motivation stems from her own struggles with mental illness and her father's work accident that resulted in brain injury. She underlines the significance of prioritizing one's needs, especially for working women. She also talks about business coaching within the Concussion Nerds network and their coaching services for people with ongoing concussion symptoms.  About Our Natasha Wilch: Natasha Wilch has been a Registered Physical Therapist since 2011. She attended the University of British Columbia where she earned a Bachelors in Health Science & Kinesiology and then her Masters in Physical Therapy.   Growing up in the small town of Cranbrook, BC, she always wanted to work in health care. You'd find her volunteering in the hospital's extended care unit playing piano for the residents, decorating for the season, and reading. As a teenager, she volunteered throughout the hospital as a candy striper.  The scope of physical therapy is massive and a therapist can choose to specialize in many different areas. From day one, Natasha has worked in neurology. She was inspired by her cousin, who became a quadriplegic after a motorcycle accident, and his stories about the amazing therapists who influenced him and helped him start a new chapter in his life. Natasha focused her clinical practice on working with individuals with spinal cord, stroke, Parkinson's, and other neurological diagnoses. She continued to develop her toolbox in post-graduate education in neurological rehab, functional neurology, chronic pain, IMS, acupuncture, neuro-optometry, and more.   When Natasha relocated to Nanaimo, BC in 2014 she wasn't sure what to do next. She was on maternity leave with her 4-month-old son, Hudson... and this turned out to be a blessing. As she began to look for work in her new city it became clear that there was a massive care gap for the neurological population she loved to treat. She decided to open her own clinic. Symphony Rehabilitation became official in May 2015.  Today, Natasha's passion is evolving the conversation and culture of concussions around the world. She does that through her clinic, Symphony Brain Performance, her online mentorship program for clinicians, Concussion Nerds, and speaking engagements.   She believes powerfully that change will come from the front lines - the clinicians and clients. But for clinicians to do their best work they also need to take care of themselves. Natasha supports the WHOLE PERSON.   About Symphony Rehabilitation They are located in Nanaimo, BC and they absolutely love getting to work with the island community as well as their clients who travel from all over North America. They will work with you 1:1 throughout your journey of concussion, neurological diagnosis, vestibular challenges, or simply wanting to optimize your health and wellness. They have also been offering virtual services since 2017 as location shouldn't be a barrier to you receiving the treatment you need, and it isn't! Connect with them online and they can help you take the next step forward in your journey of health, wellness, and rehab. Being laughed at the year before for sounding more like a cat than a lion in his schools 13th Annual Presbyterian Church Preschool Circus, Carlos Whittaker was nervous of what role he would get this year. As described in his book Moment Maker, Carlos says Ms. Stephens began handing out roles and it was at this moment his life would change forever. Instead of being a background character, he was given the position of Ring Master, the leader of the circus. On today's episode of Godly Goosebumps, Pastor Dudley Rutherford talks about how one moment in time can change the course of your life if you allow God to guide your path.

Have you ever found yourself struggling to find the right way to share in current cultural conversations? These conversations can so often feel like hot button topics, and as solopreneurs this can feel like a really messy situation to navigate. We want to stand up for things we believe in, and use our voice in issues that matter, but when we are our businesses, we catch ourselves wondering if “speaking up” might also cost us clients or customers. I know I've felt this messiness before, which is why I called my friend Carlos Whittaker to come show us the way at Solo Con. He navigates this better than just about anyone else I know. Carlos is a self-proclaimed “Hope Dealer” who spends the majority of his time telling stories on stages and phone screens across the world that lead people toward impactful action. Today on the Solo Podcast you get to listen to some of the conversation we had, and gain some valuable insights on how to use your platform with purpose and continue to grow your business. Today, I'm joined by Carlos Whittaker, a people's choice award winner, a former recording artist who spends his time creating new books and travels to speaking gigs. I'll be chatting with Carlos about how he sold his books "from the trunk of my car." With a passion for writing starting with his blog, Carlos was pursuing writing in addition to a career as a singer. In 2010, he created a VLOG that went viral, which, in turn, produced traffic for his blog. At this point, he had 30,000 readers per day looking at his website, and publishers started to find his blog. "Although I was a singer, I had more people reading my words than buying my music." When Carlos decided to write his first book, he chose his best blog writings from his work that created the most traction from his past seven blogging years. Moment Maker was birthed from his blog in 2014. Although it didn't sell well, "this was my little experiment, and I'm proud of it." He took his first offer from a publisher that approached him. "The first book was a book that I wanted to write that felt good for me, and I thought that maybe this could help a lot of people." Carlos decided to be strategic in writing his second book and directly answered his audience's pain point. Doing beta testing, targeting sales, and tweaking his talks to target more book purchases in the lobby post-speaking. "Once I found that secret sauce, I just stuck to that." With his third book, he is creating many Zoom talks and hasn't had as much success with video marketing. Carlos is looking forward to 2021, when he can hit the road and see people in person to market his book. Listen in to find out how you can make your audience the hero of your story, how to set up your book sale to get more people to buy your book, and Carlos' pro tips for selling books. The speed and pace at which many of us live and lead is exhausting. When we are constantly in a hurried state, how do we hear from God?   On today's episode, Alan sits down with Carlos Whittaker for a great conversation about Carlos's new book Enter Wild and how to have a very vibrant life with God.    About Carlos Carlos Whittaker is a People's Choice Award winner, a former recording artist signed to a major label, a social media maven, and currently spends the majority of his time writing books and speaking on stages around the world. It really began when the Whittaker's found their family in America's spotlight with appearances on shows like CBS Early Morning, The Today Show, and more when their viral video "Single Ladies Devastation" went viral. But for Carlos, his wife Heather, and their three children, this viral moment was just a snapshot of the bigger picture. Currently reigning at nearly 7 million views, it's hard to believe that the overnight success of Carlos' son's "Single Ladies Devastation" on YouTube was a complete accident. "I remember putting the video on YouTube that night and not thinking much about it," recalls Carlos. "The next morning my phone was blowing up with calls from all these national outlets asking me if I was the horrible father in the YouTube video." But That Was Just The Spark "Our family has experienced our share of moments both big and small. What we've learned is that every single one has played a pinnacle part in our lives. Each moment has built on to the next one and when we take a step back we see this incredible canvas that has been woven together." The release of "Moment Maker" marked Carlos' debut as an author, but his current book "Kill The Spider" has taken Carlos' tribe into the deeper parts of their souls. In his newest book Carlos helps people identify, locate, corner, and kill the spiders that are plaguing their lives. "My dad once told me that I must stop cleaning to cobwebs in my life and kill the spider", Carlos recalls. "This was a massive shift in my soul that began my journey towards being truly centered in my life." As an adult, Carlos and his wife Heather moved from California back to Atlanta where he joined the team at Andy Stanley's Buckhead Church. There, Carlos continued to apply 'moment making' into his everyday life, blogging about his experiences and recruiting his family and friends along the way. In 2009 Carlos signed a recording deal with Integrity Music and moved his family to Nashville TN. It was in Nashville where Carlos decided to make the shift from writing music to writing books. And from singing on stages to speaking on stages. Currently, Carlos is regularly teaching at churches and conferences worldwide. Including Catalyst Conference, Embrace Church, FreshLife Church, and many more. Connect with Carlos Books Website Podcast Twitter Instagram Facebook

Top 10 Revisited Jeff sat down with Carlos Whittaker and recorded this conversation in November 2019. Originally released as Episodes 46 & 47, this conversation is being revisited as part of our Throwback Winter Series. Carlos Whittaker Carlos Whittaker is a People's Choice Award winner, a former recording artist signed to a major label, a social media maven, and currently spends the majority of his time writing books and speaking on stages around the world. It really began when the Whittaker's found their family in America's spotlight with appearances on shows like CBS Early Morning, The Today Show and more when their viral video “Single Ladies Devastation” went viral. But for Carlos, his wife Heather and their three children, this viral moment was just a snapshot of the bigger picture. Conversation Notes: This vulnerable conversation explores the power of words, living as a Great Commission reflecting family, the powerful example of his father and finding freedom through identifying lies hidden deep in our hearts. Praying for a double portion of God's wisdom Steeping our decisions in prayer Staying true to who your children are Breaking agreements with the enemy The power of words Jesus never prayed the problem. He always prayed the promise. The natural shifts of parenting seasons Living as a great commission reflecting family If we only look for Jesus in the serious then we're going to miss half of him Medicating behaviors vs. core lies that we're believing as fathers Stop trying to inspire your way out of sin. The only way to find freedom from these behaviors is to get to the root lie in your heart. To disturb and disrupt will be the place we are most awakened Why don't we disturb and disrupt ourselves on purpose so that we can continue to grow and mature. In order to show our kids wonder, we must go backwards and slow things down. The power of a “Pause” – what am I not noticing around me? Look at the life of Jesus – how was he a moment maker? Jesus created moments for people on purpose In order to create moments for other people, we must first receive moments from God Pause, slow down and rest to lower the volume of life How many stories (the amount of data) am I listening to in the first 5-minutes of my day? Carlos Wittaker is joining Candace + Jenny in part two of this health series. NOTE: If you feel you need to reach out to a therapist, licensed counselor or should talk to a doctor about medications for your mental health, please do. This episode should never be taken as a substitution for those action steps. In this special guest episode of Shut The Should Up with Candace Payne + Jenny Randle, they discuss a topic that often gets brushed under the rug or ignored --- mental health. Joining us is Carlos Wittaker. He's an Author, Speaker, Moment Maker, Spider Killer, and Hope Dealer. What are we shutting up? The "I should not talk about my mental health” concerns. This thought is a lie that can leave us feeling alone, hurting and harmed. Show Summary Candace and Carlos play Confetti Like Praise. In We Said What?! Carlos shares his personal struggle with anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. There was also a radical mindset shift that brought supernatural healing into his life and produced greater freedom than ever before. Jenny and Candace both yell “WOW!” when Carlos shares what happened to the debilitating anxiety and depression. For You Said What?! a caller shares her struggle through OCD, ADHD and poor self-image. Her bravery to call in, opened up some powerful conversation. In the He Said What?! segment Carlos shares how he speaks specific truths over his life from Scripture. His book Kill the Spider features a powerful prayer that will impact the spiritual climate of your life. Hey, Let’s Pray, and catch a glimpse of hope if you’ve been struggling through a mental health battle. Carlos prays for listeners who are in the process of mental health healing. He also prays for clarity and 100% healing over those that struggle through anxiety and depression. I'm with the amazing Carlos Whittaker to talk about his dramatic career shift from leading worship to becoming a best-selling author and speaker.   We'll also discuss what it means to kill the proverbial spiders in our lives and how we can truly pursue a life of freedom and abundance. You are going to love this one!   In this episode we discuss: 1. His dramatic career change 2. How he landed his first speaking gig at the White House 3. How to really change our behavior and our lives 4. How to kill the proverbial spiders in our life Favorite quotes: 1. I felt like God was telling me it was time to stop leading worship and singing and start writing a book. And, for me because I did all the work ahead of time with my blog—I had spent years building a tribe of people that were used to reading what I had to say, that wasn't going to be a hard transition for them. But, for me, it was scary. How in the world was I going to do the speaking and the writing thing? 2. I feel like a lot of worship leaders come up to me and say, “I think I want to do something else.” I always say, “Awesome. How have you been building into what that next thing is? That is what you are going to need to do right now and it's going to take a little time.” 3.  My father said to me, “Carlos, I've watched you your entire life clean the cobwebs of sin. You can no longer clean the cobwebs. You must kill the spider, the root of your behavior.”   In this episode I answer these questions: 1. I saw you taught on “mom guilt” for Mother's Day. Can I watch the sermon anywhere and can you share some wisdom from it? (47:33) 2. What version of the Bible do you use? My church uses NIV and NLT and my Bible Study uses ESV. I want to make sure that I'm using the right versions and I trust your opinion.  (55:40) 3. Did you have a mentor who taught you how to communicate professionally from the stage and on your show? (57:15) Links to great things we discussed: 1. Kill the Spider 2. Moment Maker 3. 21 Day Detox- Dr. Caroline Leaf 4. The OA on Netflix 5. Walking With God by John Eldridge 6. The Samsung Frame 7. Prime Time Primer from Bare Minerals 8. Blissdom 9. FABFITFUN- use promo code ALLI 10. Mother's Day Message (I start about 33 minutes in!)   Hope you loved this episode! Competitive obstacle racer, trauma surgeon and father of seven Patei Iyegha joins dadAWESOME to discus 5 ways to put this Moment Maker Dads theme into action.   In case you missed the first Patei Iyegha interview on Episode 25, here's the link: https://dadawesome.org/25-patei-iyegha/   FIVE WAYS TO TAKE ACTION:   1. Power of Words- what words are we speaking over our kids? The words we speak are foundational for moments to be made. Action speaks louder than words... ACTION >>ask your wife or a close Christian friend about your words... Do they hear you speaking words of life?   2. Slow Down - experience moments from my Heavenly Father. Creativity flows in moments with time and space and simplicity… ACTION >>take a 20-min walk in silence... Ask God to bring to mind ways you can make fatherhood adjustments. Ask for God to whisper areas to add intentionality.   3. Technology- does my phone and tv and other screens help spark creativity and problem solving and dreaming? What toys and activities will inspire creativity?Do the games, screens and toys lead towards conclusions? Or towards endless possibilities? ACTION >>check your screen time statistics on your phone. 2-hours per day over 18 years is 13,000 hours of extra time with your kids.   4. Sticky Moments - mystery waffles, fried egg Fridays... Family Bible Story Time... Polar Express Christmas Light Adventure. How can I add more regular family moments that my kids will look forward to?Engaging the 5 senses with these moments. ACTION >>create one simple moment for your kids this week   5. Family Values Audit - Family Values - two truth tellers for my values = Time and Money…My calendar reveals my priorities.Look at your finances and where you invest your time and it will reveal what matters most in your lifeWhat words or phrases are central to my family? What do I value? What is my compass? ACTION >>Look back at your calendar for the past 2-weeks. Look at your budget and pray about the % of that time and money that is focussed on you and your needs and your families needs vs. serving others and giving to others. Bonus Step = Read The Power Of Moments (by Chip and Dan Heath) or listen to this podcast about the book by Craig Groeschel

This second part of the Moment Maker Dads conversation with Carlos Whittaker explores waking ourselves up to living our life rather than letting life live you. To disturb and disrupt will be the place we are most awakened Why don't we disturb and disrupt ourselves on purpose so that we can continue to grow and mature. In order to show our kids wonder, we must go backwards and slow things down. The power of a "Pause" - what am I not noticing around me? Look at the life of Jesus - how was he a moment maker? Jesus created moments for people on purpose In order to create moments for other people, we must first receive moments from God Pause, slow down and rest to lower the volume of life How many stories (the amount of data) am I listening to in the first 5-minutes of my day? Massively limit screen time (It's always easier to add more then to take it away) SPIES acronym: Socially Physically Intellectually Emotionally Spiritually Showing our kids more what it looks like to be like Jesus https://carloswhittaker.com/ Moment Maker Kill The Spider Carlos on Facebook Carlos on Instagram Carlos on Twitter More about Carlos Whittaker: Carlos Whittaker is a People's Choice Award winner, a former recording artist signed to a major label, a social media maven, and currently spends the majority of his time writing books and speaking on stages around the world.

Carlos Whittaker joins dadAWESOME for a 2-part interview to kick off the Moment Maker Dads theme for the month of December. This vulnerable conversation explores the power of words, living as a Great Commission reflecting family, the powerful example of his father and finding freedom through identifying lies hidden deep in our hearts. The only way to find freedom from these behaviors is to get to the root lie in your heart. https://carloswhittaker.com/ Moment Maker Kill The Spider Carlos on Facebook Carlos on Instagram Carlos on Twitter Podcast Recommendation: Carey Nieuwhof Leadership Interview with Carlos Whittaker CNLP 161: CARLOS WHITTAKER ON PORN, LOSING HIS FAMILY, HIDDEN SIN AND THE BATTLE BACK More about Carlos Whittaker: Carlos Whittaker is a People's Choice Award winner, a former recording artist signed to a major label, a social media maven, and currently spends the majority of his time writing books and speaking on stages around the world. With his easy going attitude, amazing laugh, and ability to connect Jon is transforming lives and describes how The Front Row is more than a non-profit, it is a lifestyle. A way to live your life. A way to show up for others. A way to cultivate, connect and collaborate. That movement is described in his upcoming book, The Front Row Factor. You can find out more about it HERE. Jon is an author, speaker, dad, husband and creator of the non-profit organization, The Front Row. What is TFR? A tribe of people committed to helping those individuals and families, with terminal illnesses, create magical moments by attending the concert or event of their choice and being ON THE FRONT ROW! From successful stories where the patient has lived, to heart wrenching stories that the recipient passes from this life, this stuff is real. What do we all fear? What is the one thing that we must do? Die. What does a man understand about life who has put so much of his time, effort and energy into making moments like this last? What can you take away from listening to him for 1 hour? What can you hear that may change your life forever? What are the struggles in his own life that you can learn from?  I have learned from this man for the past 3 years. He is someone I look up to, adore and support 100%. You will too. Get to know him. To know him really is to love him.  He and his beautiful wife and 2 boys reside in Austin Texas.  The Front Row Factor, the book is ready to change your life.   XO Andrea
