I dive deep into the realities of traveling with kids—from toddlers to grown children—and how these trips can be both chaotic and magical. I share my own experiences and honest truths about the challenges moms face, like packing for toddlers, managing expectations, and finding moments of self-care and joy amidst the chaos. I talk about the importance of keeping routines for little ones, giving older kids choices, and letting teens have autonomy (and sleep!). I also get real about maintaining intimacy with your partner on family trips and why it's essential to prioritize yourself, not just your family. Throughout the episode, I encourage you to reframe your mindset around family travel, set clear intentions for your trips, and remember that the best memories often come from imperfect moments. I remind you that you deserve to feel good, rest, and have fun on your family adventures. If this episode resonated with you, I'd love for you to share it with another mom who needs to hear it and leave a five-star review to help more moms find this kind of support. Remember, you're doing better than you think, and you're exactly the mom your kids need. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Have you ever traveled with a teenager? Or maybe you have travel memories of your teenage self? Were you as insufferable a traveler as teens these days appear to be? Today we chat about what exactly turns off (is it an "interest switch"?) in the human brain around age 13 or 14 that makes incredible art, fascinating history, and amazing visual locations so very very dull. So how do you spark interest for a reluctant teen traveler, or should you not even bother? Katy and Tiffany dig into their own insufferable teenage pasts looking for an answer. ***Katy's sister Dana has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 agressive brain cancer. We just back from a six-day road trip with our family of six, and I'm excited to share my latest tips for making travel work with a bunch of kids (especially while 25 weeks pregnant). After years of taking these trips - including our annual month-long summer adventure - we keep finding ways to make things 1% better each time. In this episode I share: How we solved our food challenges by bringing an Instantpot and griddle to cook simple hotel room meals Why eating at restaurants for lunch instead of dinner completely transformed our evenings The pre-packed toiletry and activity bag system that saved me from hunting down everyone's toothbrushes How we handled long car rides with zero screens and kept everyone happy Finding the right mix of free museum visits, hotel swimming, and paid activities I'll also share our biggest challenge – dealing with overtired kids in tight hotel quarters where everyone can hear everything! And the important parenting lesson we learned about solving problems rather than trying to control behavior. If you're interested in seeing exactly how our travel systems work, I'll be sharing all of that in the Family Systems Playbook to the Surviving To Thriving Toolkit.
