It seems to have been the talk of Royal Troon this week – is it time for Tiger Woods to retire? The 15-time major champion delivered a six-sentence zinger after reports that Colin Montgomerie had questioned whether he could still win. Woods says his belief has never wavered and in this episode of The NCG Golf Podcast, Steve Carroll and Matt Coles debate whether this is fantasy or could still be a reality. The duo also get stuck into shopping, ask whether the Open Arms should be the ‘Up in Arms' because of its drinks prices and Matt – who is on a glorious run of picking the winners of recent tournaments – tells you who is going to lift the Claret Jug on Sunday. Paying $1,200 For A Phone Is Crazy, Until You Realise... #1412

The base price of the iPhone 13 is about $1,200. Every time Apple releases a new phone, I find myself thinking the same thing... 'That is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on a phone!' But of course, it's not just a phone. Yes, it's a mini-supercomputer in your pocket. But, much more than that, it's become the Personal Assistant of our Life. It's with us almost all the time. At work. In the car. At home when we're on the sofa watching TV. When we go to walk the dog. And we use it for many things that are important in our live. Banking. Shopping. Emails. Social Media. Music. When you actually think about how much time you spend on your smartphone AND how many important functions it performs for you... the cost per hour of having the latest model is pretty nominal. NB: Please don't go out and spend $1,200 if you can't afford it. But if you can. And if you (like most of us) use your phone A LOT...it might just be worth the price tag. #pricing #timeismoney #valueformoney

I’m undergoing some deep energetic shifts and my ego ain’t liking it one little bit. To be truthful, I’ve been experiencing a fair whack of anxiety and self doubt. There’s a call I’m answering to really serve how I choose to serve, to create my life and use time how I really want to and it’s causing me to look at what I’m doing, reassess it and make changes. My word INTENTIONAL for this year is really well lit. This means I’ve been working my absolute ass off to get things ready for The Legends launch, and at the same time reevaluate and reflect on what and what isn't working. It was perfect timing when I looked over @taniayorgey instagram today to pick a card and it was The Tower. Time to let go, let whatever needs to crumble, crumble, to rebuild or leave space and not fill it.So as I hear all the doubt and feel all the anxiety, I choose to focus on what I know I’m being called to step into. Even though it’s challenging, I know it’s right and my future self is guiding me.NB: Please forgive the audio for this episode. I recorded it in the car via my phone with a small rhodes mic. This week, we speak to Guy Levin, the Executive Director of Coadec. Guy heads up the UK's foremost digital think tank and trade association, and is also the Associate Editor of Policy at The Memo. He was formerly a special adviser to DFID (Department for International Development) and DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport). 0030 For those who haven't come across Coadec before, Guy gives a brief introduction to what they do. 0050 We have to talk about Brexit. 80%+ of Coadec's membership recently express a very definite interest in remaining in the EU. Guy explains what Coadec will do next in the light of this overwhelming response. 0255 Guy talks about some individual members of The UK"s entrepreneurial community who have come out in favour of remaining in the EU, such as Tom from Mondo, Taavet of TransferWise and Damian of Duedil. 0320 As many of us won't be 100% familiar with the workings of Whitehall: How does a think tank work? 0420 Guy explains that the job during Brexit is to influence the voting public, and reminds his fellow politicos that the day to day workings of politics doesn't really effect people's lives! 0535 Guy explains why entrepreneurs' stories are critical to the EU campaign. 0720 What UKIP got wrong with their isolantionist policy: USA and China can access a huge single market, whereas UK can't. 0800 If Britain leaves the EU, what will happen to passporting? We enter the unkown... ! 0930 The big question: Guy delves into the reasons why tech entrepreneurs should want to remain in the EU, and also considers the arguments put forward by pro-Brexit campaigners. 1330 The Budget was a fairly recent occurrence in UK policy. It's fair to say that the UK tech agenda wasn't at the front and centre of the budget, but Guy has teased out the most important parts for techies. 1420 The government has recognised the gig economy in an area tucked away in the recent budget. 1600 So what are the government doing? 1740 In areas such as fintech, UK legislation has been comparatively progressive. For example, equity crowdfunding has been able to flourish here. Is there something inherently progressive about UK legislation? 1916 Guy tips his hat to 'the people at the top of politics', who caught the tech bug early on, and have helped the industry to grow. 2000 According to Guy, the 'meritocracy of ideas' is powerful in Whitehall. In other words, if Coadec continue to feed in good ideas to policymakers, they stand a greater chance of implementation. 2110 The entrepreneurial part of Guy's journey is that he chose to breathe new life into Coadec after the organisation had been 'laying dormant' for some time. 2300 "I'm proud that we've been able to influence the debate" 2440 How does one think tank collaborate with another? 2540 What's next on the horizon for Coadec? Guys says we should keep our eyes peeled for the London Startup Manifesto, and also some work on the Snooper's Charter... [NB:Please be forewarned, there is some brief audio difficulty at the beginning of the interview. It does clear up quickly, so please do listen through.] We are drawn to what is hidden. We are excited by what is mysterious whether we find it beautiful or repellant. Erotic experience is all about this urge. Sexuality, both in its defensive function and as an intrinsic part of being human, defines the ways in which we engage in the psychoanalytic situation. However, it can be very difficult – even taboo – for analysts to admit having erotic feelings towards a patient, and it can be equally thorny handling erotic transference when it arises in a treatment. In Erotic Revelations: Clinical Applications and Perverse Scenarios (Routledge, 2014), Andrea Celenza discusses the importance of reclaiming sexuality as one of the many realms that are of central concern to our patients as she simultaneously observes the pervasive “desexualization” of the psychoanalytic field. She asserts that erotic transference and countertransference (of various manifestations) should be explored in every thorough analysis and she means to bring sex squarely back into psychoanalytic theorizing. Celenza offers careful consideration of the use and perils of embodied erotic countertransference as well as dilemmas surrounding self-disclosure, guilty pleasure and the “slippery slope” towards sexual boundary transgression (the subject of her earlier writing.) Celenza and I discuss writing about patients, mutuality, asymmetry, embodiment, re-eroticization, multiplicity and contradictory gender considerations proposing ways in which the binary (e.g., “feminine” and “masculine”) poses constraints that may be transcended. Finally, Celenza reclaims the term “perversion” as a mode of relating vs. a descriptor of behavior thereby restoring its usefulness in the psychoanalytic lexicon. Among other points, she posits that perverse scenarios are attempts to construct a one-person fantasy/universe thereby defending against dangerous subjectivities (either within one's self or in the other.) Dr. Andrea Celenza, is a Training and Supervising Analyst at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, Faculty at the Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis and an Assistant Clinical Professor at Harvard Medical School. She is private practice in Lexington, Massachusetts and is a proud and avid soccer player. Learn more about your ad choices.
