With the average age of first-time smartphone ownership now hovering around the ages of ten, eleven, and twelve, we need to realize that this has opened a pandora's box of earlier and earlier pornography exposure among kids. And, in today's world the pornography these young kids see is oftentimes violent and extreme. In an article in Salvo magazine, writer Nicole King tells us correctly, that delaying exposure to smart devices will shelter and benefit our kids' minds. King offers these three common-sense solutions to parents. First, there is no reason for a parent to put a smartphone into the hands of a child that young. Second, if your child has friends who have smartphones, it's a good idea to start having conversations about sex, gender, and pornography at younger ages. Don't wait. And third, make it a habit of getting your kids away from screens of all kinds for long periods of time. Engage with your kids in enjoyable activities away from any and all screens. Parents, be wise.
