Today's Topics: 1) Gospel - Mt 5:17-19 - Jesus said to His disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.” Bishop Sheen quote of the day 2, 3, 4) Nicole Pearson, Catholic attorney, on the documentary “Letter to the American Church” based on Eric Metaxas' bestselling book of the same name, which chronicles the attempted Marxist takeover of the American Church, putting millions in peril, and argues that the Church's decision to stay out of politics undermines its power to transform every sphere of human existence. This week, we welcome back Nicole Pearson to the podcast. She is a dedicated mother, attorney, and founder of Facts Law Truth Justice. Nicole has been working tirelessly to defend fundamental rights and protect children. Her mission is to bring back normalcy and reason in the fight for our children. This is evident through her commitment to the Protect Kids CA initiative. Join us, as Nicole and Dr. Stan discuss the importance of parental involvement in education and the risks of gender ideology in schools. Nicole shares her expertise and offers ways you can support her efforts toward protecting your parental rights and making informed decisions about your children. Quotes: "These children are committing suicide, not because they're not trans, because they are fearful, they are alone, they have been alienated and pitted against their family." – Nicole Pearson "They intentionally confused them. They intentionally Stoke, you know, distrust in their parents. They intentionally try to alienate them and create distance between the parents. I think that is the most abusive, psychologically manipulative, disgusting thing that you as an adult can do to a child." – Nicole Pearson "We have to stop the bills, and stop the conversations and the policies and but more importantly, the government's belief." – Nicole Pearson Key Takeaways: Ideas about gender are being taught to young children in schools, sometimes without parents knowing. This could confuse and harm children emotionally. Medical procedures like puberty blockers and hormones are still being tested and could have serious long-term health risks that children might not fully understand. Marxist and communist ideas want to break down individuality and families and give total control to the government. Gender ideas can help them do this. Parents have the right and responsibility to make choices about their children's education and health. When the government interferes with this, it can be very risky. Local community efforts and people getting involved in politics are important ways to oppose harmful policies and protect people's rights as parents and citizens. People who disagree with controversial ideas are often silenced by censorship and threats. Concerned citizens need to keep having honest and respectful discussions. Highlights/Timeline: [04:45] - What is the story of Aaron Friday and why does it highlight the importance of parental involvement? [12:39] - What are the concerns about gender ideology being taught in California schools and how does it potentially confuse children? [18:32] - What is the Marxist agenda behind promoting gender ideology to children in schools, and how does it impact their mental health? [29:01] - What is Nicole's stance on the current situation regarding transgender issues, particularly with children and adolescents? [45:16] - What is the initiative that Nicole is pushing? [59:05] - How can listeners sign the petition in support of the initiative? [1:02:29] - What is the goal in terms of collecting signatures and raising funds for the initiative? [1:03:59] - What wider concerns were discussed around the depopulation agenda, loss of parental rights, and harms of medicalizing children? Conclusion: Parents play an important role in their children's education, especially when it comes to sensitive topics like gender and medical treatments for minors. When schools make decisions without getting permission from parents, it is a violation of parental rights. That's why it's important to support policies that make sure parents are informed and agree to decisions about their children's mental health and gender identity in schools. Having open conversations, working together, and advocating at the local, state, and national levels are crucial to addressing these complicated issues and protecting the rights and well-being of children and families. U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on June 19 during his high-profile visit to Beijing. Both sides pledged to stabilize the badly deteriorating relationship between the two countries. Blinken's trip marked the highest-level visit to China by a U.S. official in nearly five years. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are aiming to counter the influence of America's adversaries in Africa. They are pushing the Biden administration to expand the Abraham Accords—a Trump-era policy that secured diplomatic relations between Israel and a number of Arab nations—on the continent. California lawmakers will vote on Bill AB 665—which critics are describing as state-sanctioned kidnapping. The law would allow children aged 12 and upward to leave home and check into a residential facility without parental consent. What’s your family story? Everybody has one, good, bad or somewhere in between. There are no perfect families, because there are no perfect people. But all families can flourish and thrive with wisdom. Replay the worship service from Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 10:45 am at La Jolla Community Church through audio or video. Worship begins with a reading of Psalm 145:1-13 by Lynn Allen-Biros (LJCC member and former LJCC Trustee). Immediately following the reading, Craig Stephenson and Janna Mattia start worship through song by introducing the chorus for "Make Us One" (a song sung later in the service). Worship continues with songs, "No Longer Slaves" and "The Stand." We have a brief time to greet those around us and then Nicole Pearson gives live announcements - equipping guests with the tools they need to stay connected or submit a prayer request. Nicole (also a former trustee) encourages women to attend the monthly gathering the first Tuesday of the month. She also explains an upcoming opportunity to be Jesus' hands and feet in the world by participating in a construction project alongside Habitat for Humanity. Lynn Allen-Biros gives the Prayers of the People following announcements. Pastor Steve Murray then continues the sermon series, "Wisdom in Bite-Size Pieces" with a message on "Wisdom in families." Following the message of the morning we enter back into worship through song and a time of offering. The Offertory sung is "Make Us One" - a new song by Jesus Culture. Following that song we sing "The Lion And The Lamb." Pastor Steve Murray then gives the Benediction of the morning as people exit to a reprise of "The Lion And The Lamb". Janna Mattia (Acoustic Guitar) leads worship with Craig Stephenson (Electric Guitar). Janna and Craig are joined by Dave Mattia on Bass, Rick Cristotomo on Drums, and Annabelle Terbetski on strings.
