At 34 years of age, guitarist/songwriter Nili Brosh has lived the life of 10 guitarists. Since graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2009, Nili has performed with legends in the truest since of the word. Shrapnel guitar legend Tony MacAlpine, former Nevermore and current Arch Enemy guitarist Jeff Loomis, drummer Marco Minneman, and bassist Stu Hamm just to name a few. Nili has also been a part of Danny Elfman's band, the guitarist for Cirque Du Soleil's Michael Jackson ONE, and as part of the cartoon based metal gods, Dethklok. Obviously, Nili is a VERY busy person and I was lucky enough that she took the time out of her busy schedule to talk to a dreg like myself. Nili is a kind, funny, and super talented person and I loved talking to her about why sometimes being called a "shredder" can be annoying, how being called a "female guitarist" is also not a term of endearment, and other things. To check out more on Nili, head to hear website www.nilibrosh.com Enjoy, y'all.
Nili Brosh is part of a new generation of guitarists. Both a solo artist and a sidewoman, Nili currently plays with Danny Elfman, Cirque du Soleil, Dethklok, as well as her original band. Born in Israel, raised in Massachusetts, and educated at Berklee College of Music, Nili has performed with Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Tony MacAlpine, Andy Timmons, Guthrie Govan/The Aristocrats, Stu Hamm, Jennifer Batten, Gretchen Menn, DragonForce, Jeff Loomis, Alphonso Johnson, and The Iron Maidens. Nili has also released three solo albums (Through The Looking Glass, 2010, A Matter of Perception, 2014, and Spectrum, 2019), the material from which she performs and gives clinics on. Additionally, Nili has written a lesson column for Premier Guitar magazine, released several courses with JTC Guitar, and recorded guitars on Danny Elfman's 2021 and 2022 releases “Big Mess”, “Bigger. Messier.”In this exclusive interview with The Trout, Nili talks about her career and musical style and where her path to musical success.https://www.nilibrosh.com/https://www.thetroutshow.com/Thanks for listening for more information or to listen to other podcasts or watch YouTube videos click on this link >https://thetroutshow.com/

Stir Crazy With Steve Jenkins: Conversations With Creatives During The Quarantine
This week I have the great Bryan Beller as my guest. For anyone who might not know, Bryan is an extremely talented bass player who’s been in Joe Satriani’s band for the past few years. He’s also one third of the Aristocrats which is a rock/fusion/prog trio he has with Guthrie Govan (like OVEN) and Marco Minnemann.Bryan has also worked with folks like Steve Vai, he plays bass in the live version of Dethklok, and he’s been a huge part of Mike Keneally’s music since the 90’s.In addition to his sideman work, he is also a solo artist and last year released the epic behemoth of a double-album “Scenes From The Flood” which features folks like Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Nili Brosh, Nate Morton, Joe Travers, Mike Keneally, Gene Hoglan and more… which is no small feat in this era.
It's such an honor to have Nili Brosh on the podcast this week. You know her from her work with Dethklok, Iron Maidens, Cirque du Soleil and so many more it's not even funny. Enjoy and check out her new album!
For this podcast episode, I wanted to touch on some new albums and group projects coming up this year. It’s not a comprehensive list, just a quick run down of things I’ve come across recently that should be of interest, especially to guitarists. I do want to point out that I intended to mention Paul Gilbert’s upcoming “Werewolves of Portland” , but I’m an idiot and seem to think winging it is a good way to do a podcast. In addition to upcoming albums, I wanted to focus on a recent album by virtuoso Nili Brosh. Released just this last December it is another testament to her songwriting and playing skills. Nili was nice enough to join me and share some insights regarding the album and more. Nili Brosh

Virtuoso solo artist and super sidewoman JENNIFER BATTEN gained renown in the late '80s when MICHAEL JACKSON hired her to rock stadiums with him all over the globe. They did three mega-tours together, including playing at the 1993 Superbowl halftime show for a worldwide viewership of approximately 1.3 billion people. Batten went on to accompany the great JEFF BECK on stage and in the studio, and has released thrilling solo albums under her own name. For this episode we head to the home of -- speaking of great players -- GRETCHEN MENN and DANIELE GOTTARDO (who were each featured on this podcast in earlier episodes), where Batten plugs in her Washburn Parallaxe electric guitar, jams with host JUDE GOLD, and reflects on everything from her past musical adventures to her current California co-headlining tour with Gretchen and NILI BROSH.
Gretchen Menn, Jennifer Batten and Nili Brosh join us to talk about joining forces for what will be an amazing run of shows. We also cover upcoming solo work, the benefits of study, the changing landscape for female guitarists, current gear choices and much more. This was a super fun conversation with three incredible musicians. And Elvis the dog. Jennifer Batten has not only performed with megastars such as Michael Jackson and Jeff Beck, she was also a ground-breaking advocate, virtuoso, and teacher of two-handed tapping as a guitar technique. Batten’s ongoing commitment to innovation drove her recent creation of a solo multimedia show that deploys her own video productions to augment and expand her musical compositions. Her latest release is BattleZone by Scherer/Batten. As a member of America’s popular, all-female Led Zeppelin powerhouse, Zepparella, Gretchen Menn is one of the foremost disciples of the Jimmy Page guitar style. But Menn is also an adventurous composer who has integrated Gypsy jazz, prog, metal, and classical into her own music and guitar playing. In fact, she resolutely studied orchestration for five years before completing her 2016 solo album, Abandon All Hope—a triumphant musical adaptation of Dante’s Inferno. Nili Brosh was a member of Tony MacAlpine’s band, opened for Yngwie Malmsteen during his 2013 USA tour, and was the lead guitarist in Cirque du Soleil’s production of Michael Jackson ONE. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Berklee College of Music—who went on to become one of the school’s youngest faculty members—Brosh’s most recent album is 2014’s A Matter of Perception, with a new record slated for release in December 2019. After two solo records and work with several guitar legends, Nili Brosh (Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil, Tony MacAlpine) is no stranger to instrumental guitar albums. However, her latest effort Spectrum steps beyond the expected and into a global exploration of musical genres. A literal spectrum, the album seamlessly blends from one genre to the next, starting in one place and ending up in a completely different one; all the while suggesting that music - much like humans - is all the same. Opening with the Spanish flavor of “Cartagena” and “Andalusian Fantasy”, Brosh effortlessly demonstrates the gentle power of conveying melodies on a nylon string guitar. Fusing into the European folk-inspired “Circus Wedding” and Parisian flavored “Rachel in Paris”, accordionist Hubert Gall makes a guest appearance and takes us further into the stylistic journey. What was Parisian blends into the chill R&B inspired “Solace”, which is where we first hear Brosh’s electric guitar versatility and soaring solos. The transition to a more fusion-esque and progressive sound occurs with ‘Retractable Intent’ and ‘Desert déjà vu', before finally moving toward the screaming dance-inspired heavy leads of “Djentrification” and “Primal Feels”. Listening in one sitting, one may feel the transitions sneak up on them, at the end arriving at the question “how did I get here?”. The official music video for the single “Primal Feels”, released September 3, follows a similar concept of diversity and comprises a multi-ethnic cast of male dancers joining Brosh to visually enhance the song melodies. With dazzling film-like cinematography, the dancers mimic Brosh’s musical vocabulary in a style reminiscent of those classic ‘80s and ‘90s music videos. With their visual interpretation of the strong melodic hooks of “Primal Feels”, the dancers remind us once again that people - like music - are all the same. “Primal Feels” music video is performed by Angel Xplosion Anaya, Amaleke Kidd Bradley, Nili Brosh, Manine Kim, Gabi Torres. From touring her own brand of virtuoso prog-metal to delivering guitar pyrotechnics (sometimes literally!) in her role as the mesmerizing guitar goddess who lights up the stage of Michael Jackson One by Cirque du Soleil, Israeli-American guitar badass NILI BROSH always finds exciting gigs. I was thrilled to sit down with her in Las Vegas in the lobby of the Michael Jackson One theater at Mandalay Bay before the show to talk shop, trade licks, hear about her new life as Cirque du Soleil's stunt guitarist, and learn how she self-produced her amazing sophomore album, A Matter of Perception. EXTRA: The sad news of Malcolm Young's passing hit the the music world today, so, at the end of the episode, I share a tribute to the powerhouse AC/DC strummer, one of the greatest rockers of all time. RIP Malcolm! Thanks for listening! — JUDE GOLD, host and creator of No Guitar Is Safe podcast.
Nili Brosh!! Another fun and insightful interview! We talk weekly guitar licks, Brian May reacting to funky solos, Iron Maiden(s), performing, teaching, music schools, pedals, making time to practice and goal setting! Nili Brosh is busy making it work as a musician on all fronts and we were privileged to get an insight into how she makes it all come together. Check her out on the links below. Also…Pedal Talk: The man who launched a thousand pedals (and pedal companies): Robert Keeley. Don’t be fooled by special so-called mods - buy an orginal (they’re cheaper!) Both Dylan and Jon take a break from super guitar heavy music and focus on songwriting and tone with their listening selections this week, even guitar nerds need to give their ears a break. And Dylan has a product for the Steve Vai diet plan: Diet to Live….
