Mark Rivard, the artist behind Charcoal Golf joins Mike and Tim on the Break80 Podcast this week. Mark brings golf course architecture and holes to life through a blend of charcoal, watercolor, sharpie and colored pencils to create a mixed-media and urban twist on classic golf architecture. In this episode, Mark takes us through how he got into both art and golf, and how that eventually led to the creation of Charcoal Golf. Golf art seems to be having a moment, and Mark provides one of the more unique versions of golf art out there. He will talk about projects at Prairie Dunes, Landmand and Sweetens Cove, as well as a special limited run print of Bethpage Black's 18th hole, just in time for the Ryder Cup. It sure seems like everyone is just counting down the days until the Ryder Cup at this point. With minimal golf news and no PGA Tour event to discuss, Andy instead starts this episode with a tale from his latest round of golf. Playing at one of America's great championship courses, Andy decided he wanted to recreate an iconic moment and ended up almost hitting some folks enjoying a Tuesday afternoon lunch on the patio. It's been a big week for paying homage to iconic figures, as Brendan shares the latest Bob Uecker tribute from the Milwaukee Brewers. Brendan is aghast at the team reading and posting a fake letter from the deceased Uecker, which leads into a discussion about which ghosts this year's Ryder Cup teams should (allegedly) hear from. The Europeans have made it to Long Island and dressed in some... interesting... clothing for their first practice rounds at Bethpage Black. Justin Rose thinks that New Yorkers will become "caricatures" of themselves in the crowd and thinks that the VR preparation is a sign that things have gone too far. In actual golf being played this week, the ultimate Game Within a Game is underway on the LPGA circuit: can the unique winner streak continue at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship? With 18 of this year's winners in the field, the odds are in favor of this incredible streak living on. Andy is fired up about the Stephens Cup and the U.S. Mid-Am, both of which are already underway as of this recording. The Celebrity Ryder Cup rosters have been released with big names such as Toni Kukoč, Pau Gasol, and Brooklyn Beckham facing off against Eli Manning, Colin Jost, and "Sticks Boy " Noah Kahan. In substantive golf news, Amazon Prime has acquired some Masters streaming rights for Thursday and Friday and - as first reported on this podcast - the PGA Tour will not open the season in Kapalua due to the water issues in Maui.

Andy Johnson chats with Designing Golf host Garrett Morrison about two golf courses hosting team events in September - Cypress Point and Bethpage Black. First, the two recap the Walker Cup at Cypress Point Club, with Andy sharing on-site observations and Garrett commenting on what he saw on the broadcast from home. They commend Golf Channel's coverage of the event and use of drones to show off the unique aesthetics of the course's ocean holes. Andy and Garrett also discuss how the course held up against elite players using modern technology, especially in a match play format. They then transition to an early preview of Bethpage Black, host of the 2025 Ryder Cup later this month. Garrett shares his takeaways from his first visit to the course and highlights some holes to watch as the Americans look to win back the Ryder Cup from Team Europe.
We talked about the Ryder Cup with Jimmy Roberts from NBC. The event is taking place at Bethpage Black in Long Island. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and starts with audio of Aaron Nola talking to the media and somebody farts and people laugh. Kyle Schwarber hit his 50th HR of the season as the Phillies beat the Mets again. The Yankees had a terrible 7th inning and lost to the Tigers. Daniel Jones was on with Pat McAfee and asked him what he learned in his short time with the Vikings. The Moment of The Day: Jerry talking like a space alien. In the final segment of the show, yesterday was 20 years ago that Gio walked in to WFAN to start the first day of his internship.
Hour 1 It feels like we are in the middle of a complete collapse by the Mets. The Mets are on the verge of not making the playoffs, and if they do make it, it will be short lived. To not get as far as last year after adding Juan Soto would be insane. They cannot let Sean Manaea pitch another game this season. Gio said they stink and have stunk for months. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with Kyle Schwarber hitting his 50th HR last night as the Phillies beat the Mets. The SF Giants won, also not good for the Mets. The Yankees had a very rough 7th inning and lost to the Tigers. Aaron Judge passed Yogi Berra as 5th all time in Yankees HRs. Buck Martinez had quite the critique of the Yankees during the Blue Jays broadcast. Chris Long talked about feeling old while watching the YouTube NFL broadcast. In the final segment of the hour, we took calls from Mets fans who have come to expect this type of season. Hour 2 Caleb Williams is using the same nail technician as Angel Reese. Gio's not sure if Chicago Bears fans want to read something like that. Boomer said he needs to get his head out of his ass and start listening to his coaches. A caller said this Mets season is karma for all the trash talking the fans did after they got Juan Soto from the Yankees. Jerry returns for an update, but first Boomer shows a picture from a Ryder Cup event he played in 20 years ago with a bunch of celebrities. Jerry starts with the sounds of the Yankees loss to the Tigers as they gave up 9 runs in the 7th. Sean Manaea had a rough outing in Philadelphia where the Mets lost again. Carlos Mendoza was asked after the game about the possibility of them not making the playoffs. The critics are out in Chicago as JJ McCarthy looked better in game 1 of his career than Caleb Williams did in start number eighteen. Ben Johnson talked about his struggles. Deion Sanders was asked about his starting quarterback for this weekend. In the final segment of the hour, C-Mac, who loves the Yankees, has officially given up on Anthony Volpe. A caller has a wager for Gio for this weekend's boxing match on Netflix. Hour 3 Who is more likely to win this week, the Giants over the Cowboys or the Jets over the Bills? Will the Jets offense look anything like week 1 or was that an anomaly? If the Jets can run the ball like week 1, they will be in every game this year. Gio wonders if Boomer was into the UAP video of a missile being shot at an orb and it bouncing off. We took many calls on the UAP orb. Jerry returns for an update, but first Gio asks him about the alien orb. The Jets are cutting Xavier Gipson because of his fumble this past weekend. Daniel Jones was on Pat McAfee and talked about his big game with the Colts and his poor play with the Giants. Micah Parsons talked about his move to Green Bay after camp. The Yankees had a terrible seventh inning and lost to the Tigers. In the final segment of the hour, a caller wonders if this Mets collapse will be worse than 2007. Hour 4 We talked about the Ryder Cup with Jimmy Roberts from NBC. 0:00: Even two weeks out, Ryder Cup intensity is ratcheting up04:00: Who is in action this week (and who isn't), and why06:30: Rex and Lav share Ryder Cup apparel stories09:00: Team training camps will likely be the norm going forward18:00: Are Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald telegraphing their potential pairings this week?
Keegan Bradley is making sure Team USA doesn't repeat the costly Ryder Cup mistake that's haunted them in the past with a bold move that could be the game-changer they need to take back the Cup. In this episode of The Golf Podcast we break down how Keegan Bradley is rewriting the Ryder Cup 2025 playbook at Bethpage Black. After Team USA was criticized in Rome for their “disgraceful preparation” and taking five weeks of rest before the matches, Bradley is making sure history doesn't repeat itself. He's sending nearly the entire U.S. Ryder Cup team to compete in the Procore Championship to stay sharp and avoid the dreaded rust versus rest debate. On top of that, the team has rented a massive team house in Napa with a dedicated Ryder Cup–style team room designed to build camaraderie, chemistry, and unity ahead of one of the most hostile Ryder Cup environments ever. Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy and Team Europe arrive with momentum, depth, and experience, calling themselves more accomplished than the group that won in 2023. With legends like Ian Poulter urging them to embrace the “cauldron” of the New York crowd, Europe is ready for the challenge. We dive into whether Bradley's bold strategy of playing the Procore, building team chemistry, and keeping players in form could finally give Team USA the edge they need to win back the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. The Mets took 2-of-3 in Detroit but left with a bad taste in their mouth with another bad bullpen performance by Helsley. This is what happens when starting pitching can't go five innings. They may ask Kodai Senga to go to the minors for a few starts but he would have to approve that. We also talked more about what type of Long Island crowd we're going to get at the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. A guy calls in who has a business where he collects golf balls at Bethpage at night. Jerry returns for an update, but first he wonders how the volleyball girls on TV right now can afford to get to Bangkok. Jerry Jones was on Good Morning America talking about being a great salesman. Al Dukes is not happy with commercials on Red Zone this season. The Yankees lost in Houston and the home plate umpire was brutal. Helsley talked about his recent performances not being so great. In the final segment of the hour, Gio tells the tragic story of someone local who passed away.
We get NFL football tonight as the Cowboys play the Eagles. The Giants open with Washington and then play the Cowboys and Gio said they have to win one of those games as they can't start the season 0-2 with two losses in the division. The NFC East could be a top division if the Giants figure out how to get some wins. We wondered how soon Brian Daboll would try to get Jaxson Dart into games. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with a preview of Cowboys/Eagles. Jerry is doing the game on radio with Brian Baldinger, who's in the NFL's ‘mangled hand' club. The Yankees lost in Houston as Devin Williams walked in a run and Doval balked in a run and then threw a wild pitch that brought in a run. Helsley had another rough outing in relief as the Mets lost to the Tigers. Pablo Torre talked about uncovering the Kawhi Leonard situation with the Clippers and circumventing the salary cap. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the Ryder Cup which starts later this month at Bethpage Black.

Dan in Carteret calls about Boomer breaking Imus' record this coming March and Jazz Chisholm predicting a Yankees World Series win. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the called third strike on Jazz that ended the game. He was not happy with the call. The home plate ump had a rough night. The Mets had a rough day in Detroit, especially Helsley in relief. Russell Wilson said mindset is everything for the Giants. Boomer said the Commanders should run right at Abdul Carter to see if he can run-defend. Roger Goodell was on the Today Show and said it's a ‘maybe' as far as Taylor Swift playing at the Super Bowl. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer is getting a lot of requests for interviews now that football season is upon us. Hour 4 Is Andrew Thomas going to play for the Giants this Sunday against the Commanders? We also talked about the season ending injury to Alijah Vera-Tucker of the Jets. Both teams tried to build up their offensive lines. Boomer tells a story about teaching kids in Italy how to play football back in the late 80's. Jerry returns for his final update of the day, but first Boomer told us how difficult it was to shower in Italy in 1987. On PTI, Tony Kornheiser compared Nolan McLean to Tom Seaver, just like Boomer did. The Yankees lost in Houston as Devin Williams walked in a run. The home plate ump had a rough night and Williams paid the price. There are already tailgaters in Philadelphia for tonight's opening NFL game. Jerry is doing the game tonight on the radio. The Moment of The Day: Mark Chernoff's long lost daughter. In the final segment of the show, we gave our pick for tonight's Cowboys/Eagles game.

In this special bonus edition of Next on the Tee, we're mixing things up. My good friend Tom Patri kicks things off as we dive into some of the hottest topics in golf right now. We cover USGA President Fred Perpall doubling down on the golf ball rollback—regardless of the PGA Tour's stance—and debate what it means for the future of the game. We talk about the big-name players who missed out on this year's Tour Championship, the sponsor exemptions that helped Rickie Fowler get in, Tommy Fleetwood's quest to break through, and JJ Spaun's eyebrow-raising quote. Then we're joined by Metropolitan PGA Section legend and Sirius/XM PGA Tour Radio's On Course co-host, Frank Darby. With decades of experience setting up courses like Bethpage Black for major tournaments, leading in the Met Section, and coaching Keegan Bradley during his St. John's days, Frank offers unmatched insight alongside Tom—who also cut his teeth in the Met Section and has played the course numerous times. Together, we break down Bethpage Black, Ryder Cup implications, and what might be going through Keegan's mind. It's an insider's look at two legends' home turf, and you won't want to miss it.

Smylie Kaufman and Charlie Hulme break down Wednesday's announcement of Team USA Ryder Cup captain's picks, starting with the stunning decision made by Keegan Bradley to not pick himself as a playing captain. Keegan Bradley just revealed his Ryder Cup picks—and fans can't believe he left himself off the team...but was it the right choice? In this episode of The Golf Podcast we'll break down what might be the most talked-about Ryder Cup captain's picks in years. Keegan Bradley has officially revealed his U.S. team for Bethpage Black—and in a shocking twist, he left himself off the roster. We dive into the big question: did Keegan fold under the pressure of being both captain and player, or was this an unselfish move to give Team USA the best chance to win? You'll hear our thoughts on legends like Tom Watson saying a playing captain “just can't be done,” Rory's take from the European side, and Keegan's own words from the press conference. We also go pick-by-pick through the roster, debating who was snubbed, who might have been a safer choice, and whether names like Collin Morikawa, Cameron Young, and Sam Burns were really the best options. Could Keegan himself have been the hotter hand heading into the event? And how will rookies like Ben Griffin handle the Ryder Cup spotlight? With the U.S. desperate to avoid another home loss, every decision matters. Join us as we analyze the roster, weigh the risks, and ask if Bradley's bold call will pay off—or haunt Team USA. It is time for the Ryder Cup conversation to go full blast and host Gary Williams talked about who he expects to make the American team this AM and the success of American rookies over the years. He was also joined by Rich Lerner to talk about the showdown at Bethpage Black in late September. Finally, Williams talked about Congaree Golf Club and their Global Golf Initiative and shared one of those stories.
After multiple heartbreaks, Tommy Fleetwood finally finished off a tournament at East Lake and got his first victory on the PGA Tour at East Lake. Fleetwood remained steady as other players including Patrick Cantlay and Scottie Scheffler faded down the stretch. Fleetwood's victory gets the monkey off his back after years of near misses and collapses while leading PGA Tour tournaments. Now the attention of the golf world shifts to the Ryder Cup and American captain Keegan Bradley. Will he pick himself this week as a playing captain? Will Cameron Young, Ben Griffin and/or Chris Gotterup make their Ryder Cup debuts at Bethpage Black? We will know for certain in a few days, but we are here to speculate on who he may pick this week. https://www.siegergolf.com/online-courses This week, we delve into Tommy Fleetwood's latest heartbreaker at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Despite holding a five-shot lead midway and a two-stroke advantage with five holes remaining, Fleetwood faltered late, finishing tied for third. This marks his 46th top-10 finish without a PGA Tour win, a record dating back to 1983 . What can he do to fix this scenario, Robin discusses. Yet, there's a silver lining: Fleetwood has secured his spot on Team Europe for the upcoming Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, joining Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy . As we preview the September showdown, we assess Europe's prospects of clinching a rare away victory and examine the dynamics within Team USA under player-captain Keegan Bradley. Stay tuned as we explore the narratives shaping golf's most intense competition. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Andy Johnson is joined by NBC on-course reporter Jim "Bones" Mackay for a wide-ranging conversation about the 2025 PGA Tour season and what's still to come this year. The two discuss Scottie Scheffler's two major wins and historical comparisons to Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus before hitting on two upcoming team events. Andy and Bones start with the 2025 Walker Cup at Cypress Point, Bones's favorite course in the world. They then dive into the upcoming Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. Bones shares his experiences as a caddie in the Ryder Cup and looks ahead to some pivotal holes that will determine who takes home the trophy in September. A true Friday episode about nothing seems fitting for the first round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Andy and Brendan immediately jump in on some Ryder Cup discourse after Akshay Bhatia's Thursday 62 that has him in the lead at the FedEx St. Jude at TPC Initech. The two discuss whether players like Bhatia, Bud Cauley, or even Harry Hall could do anything in the playoffs to cement their case for a captain's pick ahead of next month's matches at Bethpage Black. There's some continued action on the caddie carousel, with Collin Morikawa debuting a new man on the bag in Memphis. Andy seeks out some help from our AI overlords about why Morikawa has issues finding a permanent caddie, and Tony Finau reveals that he, too, is playing the new Titleist ball that Fordie Pitts gave Mr. 1,000 last week. Brendan continues his crusade about PGA Tour history and the calculation that led to Mr. 1,000, finding that the PGA Tour wins record should NOT be 82 after all! Speaking of PGA Tour insanity, their latest "Perfect 30" fantasy game for the FedEx Cup Playoffs asks a question that is nearly impossible to answer - placing all 30 players at East Lake in the correct order three weeks ahead of time. Don't worry, the prize is one million dollars, but it's far more likely that the grand prize winner will merely get another $1,000 gift card to their local PGA Tour Superstore. In news, the U.S. Women's Am has been tremendous cocktail golf in the evenings, the DPWT has an SGS leaderboard early, and Hudson Swafford spoke out about his suspension from the PGA Tour. We round out the week with some Golf Advice about a child's day at the Senior Open and asking for more strokes on a golf trip.
