During demonstrations in apartheid-era South Africa, the police arrest Panic (Thomas Mogotlane), a mapantsula or petty gangster, while rounding up activists. His interrogation reveals the motivation for his involvement in the township riots. Once only concerned with partying, alcohol and his own interests, Panic finds himself being irreversibly pulled into the fray. Now, he is forced to choose between his personal freedom and taking a stand in the fight against the oppressive apartheid government. Directed by Oliver Schmitz and written by Schmitz and lead actor Thomas Mogotlane, "Mapantsula" has been hailed as the “first South African film to truly represent apartheid onscreen” (Okayafrica). Banned in its homeland and made while evading the local authorities, the film was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes and went on to be selected as the South African entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars. Mapantsula was the first movie about the realities of apartheid that was actually made by South Africans in South Africa.  In the press notes for, director Oliver Schmitz writes, “Mapantsula is not just a film, it is an act of defiance. It is guerilla filmmaking and a cameo of some of the best talent from South AFRICA in the 1980's — and by that, I mean Black talent, that had been held back, had no voice, and could not speak freely. Mapantsula was a taste of freedom at a time of the worst repression in South Africa. It was a loud andclear expletive at the Apartheid Government. Oliver Schmitz is a South African director and screenwriter, who found fame in 1988 with the release of ‘Mapantsula'. It is considered to be the first anti-apartheid feature film by, for and about black South Africans, and tells the story of Panic, a petty gangster who inevitably becomes caught up in the growing anti-apartheid struggle and has to choose between individual gain and a united stand against the system.    The film originally debuted in the Official Selection at the Cannes Film Festival to massive critical acclaim and is often studied in film schools due to its artistic value and expression of the South African struggle.    Since it was filmed under apartheid, Oliver had to provide a fake script to the authorities to gain approval for its filming. Since then, Oliver has made several other feature films, including 'Shephards and Butchers' starring Steve Coogan, and ‘Life Above All', which was selected as the South African entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards.    'Mapantsula' has been recently restored and was shown at the Berlinale earlier this year under its Classics Section - Oliver takes ‘Create Incredible' through the process of putting this film back together, how working in a nightclub influenced his politics, and the ways that his team had evade the authorities whilst filming 'Mapantsula'.   Follow us for more on   Instagram Linkedin Letterboxd Twitter Facebook

Kaum zu glauben, aber wahr: Eines der wichtigsten Themen unserer Zeit ist das Thema “Wie finde ich richtige gute Mitarbeiter?".  Seien es Absolventen, fertige Akademiker oder erfahrenes Fachpersonal: Es fehlt an allen Ecken und Enden. Und daran können wir erst mal nichts ändern, weil es ein demographisches Thema ist. Denn die Babyboomer, die damals mit 45 Leuten in einer Klasse und in 4 parallelen Klassenzügen unterrichtet wurden, gehen jetzt nach und nach in Ruhestand. Und müssen ersetzt werden von… Ja, von wem? Die 2 Klassenzüge, die danach folgten, waren nur noch mit 20 Schülern besetzt. Damals gingen den Schulen die Schüler aus - heute fehlen uns die Fachkräfte. Welche Maßnahmen sind also sinnvoll, wenn wir uns die passenden Mitarbeiter nicht selbst “schnitzen” können? Was kann ich heute tun, um die Leute zu finden, damit mein Geschäft wachsen und ich meine Aufträge abwickeln kann? Mittlerweile ist Social Recruiting das Mittel der Wahl und eine etablierte Disziplin. Also das Recruiting über die Social Media. Deswegen habe ich heute jemanden im Interview, der diese Disziplin mit aufgebaut hat und der mittlerweile ein Unternehmen mit über 50 Mitarbeitern führt: Norbert Nagy.
